It was really Important that you put the cut off piece back in. An open L-Profile is nowhere near as stiff and torsion resistent than a closed O-Profile.
@@the-real-big-vic7359 If it would just support the Radiator this would not be an issue. But the 200SX has the tension rod bracket connected to it..thats the issue I saw
It's a struggle to find flange nuts and bolts in New Zealand, I hate using those generic ones. Had that problem the other day doing the 02 sensor on my Levin.
Broo! I’m at the same point with my restomod build. Just finished “derusting” my engine bay and repaired my rusted lower radiator support”Lower and rear portion upgraded to a bent 3mm plate”. Now off to prep, seam sealer, paint and dropping the engine. You should do a fusebox tuck. Eager to see tour take on things. I’m gonna try to shorten my loom, run essentials through firewall, and hide the fuseboxes in the glove box. Too bad I don’t have the vlog skills you possess . Thanks for the motivation, looking forward to next weeks video. Helps when were all in the same predicament with these pocket burning machines 😅.
I still cant believe you took a perfectly running car and chopped it up. The nerve of some people. Keep it up mike. The progress is astonishing and awe inspiring. Extremely impressive work and sticktoitivness.
that turned out v clean. the radiator fit was freaking smooth, too, & the side quest was pretty neat. (: thanks for another quality video! ~ dont slow down yet, its coming together so well.
If you ever need to reheat treat your nuts or bolts you can dip them in oil while hot. We did this often in my mechanical engineering/millwright schooling.
Your so awesome man the way you help the car community it insane keep it up you motivate me every that dude probably thought his car felt so different I bet he loved it
They sell kits of grade 10.9 metric flange zinc plated hardware in various lengths on eBay/Amazon for very affordable prices. Super useful and saves a lot of money and trips
I recently just bought an integra DA9 and its super clean, just a new paint job and interior refresh and it road worthy! (Its been sitting since we moved to this town which was about 7-8 years ago)
i love the idea. but i stumbled on a forum post addressing something similar using a superior replaced support but never do near the cockpit alone for safety purposes of inpailment but the problem is if you wreck or impact the front now that piece will hold out while every crumble zone through out the paper thin chassis will tweak wildly versus the accident you and ur car survived were able to still over achieved and scavange all those panels and re assembled to such a near mint prescision so it makes my point irrelevent now but ur amazing dog.
man it must be so nice out for late october where you live! Look at that sun! Also you're making progress sooooo quick. can't wait. I think you should sandblast the engine bay given how many nooks and crannys there are. it might turn out better that way (it may make a mess though). when I painted my entire car, my engine bay came out a bit lacking. and now its kind of cloudy and grainy. Wish corners weren't cut at the shop I had mine done at.
Brother you are sick ! I see me in you ! Never stop fighting even when whole world say no have no chance to win ! You are awesome. Hope that 240sx stay forever with you to your old days. Even you want to sell it i want to buy ir from you and continue driving forever
Thank you so much for the content.. I'm kinda doing what you are doing now we'll kinda. I'm making 2 99 civics into 1 driving turbo track car.. the road has been hard and I wanted to give up but you have showed me that anything is possible.. I'm in Waterloo Iowa not to far from you.. hopefully I get this project done and can enjoy the fruit's.. thanks a lot you are a major inspiration to my civic build..
about the delsol, make sure to check framerail where the tailing arm bolts in.. mine wasn't this rusty from the outside, and it was gone.. very unsafe in a harder corner.
A thought about the 10.9 nuts/bolts. I don't think it actually matters because of how much you are beefing up over stock, but it's likely you impacted the grade of the bolts while welding the nuts, as they almost certainly rely on a heat hardening and tempering process. Additionally, very hard grade bolts while stronger are also more prone to cracking, while slightly softer grades may stretch more before braking. So in some use cases a grade 5/8 bolt may be more bomb proof. I *highly* doubt it matters in this situation, it's just something to consider when designing your project. What you have built there looks totally bomb proof. Also, I absolutely love your videos, they are wholesome and inspiring to watch, with tons of great tips and tricks! Thank you for making them!
The Owner of the Del sol can get quarter panel replacements on eBay for $375 shipped lil pricey but easier then looking for clean ones even rocker panels if needed
I’m thinking about buying a wrecked 240 but I want to ask a question before I buy it the car is in min condition besides the passenger side strut tower is completely gone is it worth it
"you can really make it your own" bro this car is so "your own" you're going to have to rego it as a kit car, and get a new vin for it lmao, that's the most one of a kind 240 ever
Lol that 10 mile receipt has your rebate on it. Save em bro! They add up. Also rad support looks bitchin! Can't wait to see it painted. Getting so close now. You might actually get a test drive before it snows
I really like your videos I think it's you're doing impressive work on your restoration project I'm just curious on what job you do to help support your restoration project
That does look clean...Before you cut the top off to get to the inside I was thinking it would look cool with speed holes in it (also giving potential access to the nuts inside.) Were you going to grind th top smooth or leave the signature on it? lol My buddy had a B16 swapped Del Sol...that thing was stupid quick...then he replaced it with a Jackson Racing supercharger/Hondata powered RSX TypeS.
Hey Mike! How's your gf's car doing? Didn't see it in a while! You need to do a series on her car too, I'm so pumped waiting for you guys to paint it and making it look mint like yours!
I hope you daily it for a bit, while you work on the other cars, will be stronger then factory and indestructible like a volvo 240 😎 the work truck needs a paint job 😉something wild to match your enthusiasm 🤟
it's funny that a lot of people make fun of the d series honda engine but it is the most reliable engine honda has ever produced. It's overbuilt and underpowered to last
Sadly, your core support actually looks way better than mine rust-wise -- especially on the thinner front piece that holds the rad. Mine still seems sturdy enough, but I'll probably need to replace it eventually. I did see a replacement piece someone in the UK is selling where they created brackets on the sides, and you weld the brackets to the subframe on each side, and then you bolt the core support piece to the side brackets making the core support piece removable. Seems like it could be handy for access if ever needed, assuming it's adequate strength, etc. and doesn't seem like it would be that hard to DIY something similar. Do you see any downsides to capping off the subframe ends? Mine are still wide open and it just seems like a good way to scoop up and accumulate water and grime and whatever so debating if I should cap mine while the bumper is off.
Its just so nice seeing the 240 get back to one piece
