- Braces vs. Invisalign, which one is better for my child or me?
There are a number of factors to consider when trying to compare braces to Invisalign. You have to think of treatment time, ease of use, cleanliness, appearance, finances, and probably a lot more factors that are personal to you.
I'll go over my thoughts on which I think is better and help you make your own decision over which orthodontic treatment fits your lifestyle.

34 here and just got my braces installed a few days ago. It has definitely been some taking - to - get - used -to. I remember at my consultation the Doctor explained that both the Invisalign and Traditional Braces were generally the same price. He mentioned that I'd have to consistently take the trays on and off every day when eating and brushing and all that stuff. I was leaning towards Invisalign at first but once I realized all the effort it would take on my end with my busy life, I knew this option would ultimately fail. So Traditional Braces it is! Still waiting for my waterpik to ship cause foods have been getting stuck between the wires and my teeth so, eating as so far been a nightmare. But I'm sure as time progresses I'll get the hang of it. Very pricey procedure no matter which one you choose. Make sure you are really responsible and ready for this investment your teeth depend on it!!
I went with braces. Cuz you have to have lots of responsibility to use Invisalign you have to use them all the time which is to much stress with braces you have them all the time

I did traditional braces at 31 and they really weren't bad! I welcomed the student discount 🤣. I had ceramic on top and metal on bottom, because of my overbite (the price was the same at my orthodontist). My orthodontist does do lingual braces, but I am in the social work field and absolutely do not have lingual braces money. I was most concerned about correcting my cross bite, that I needed corrected as a child and couldn't afford. I got great results with braces. The pain and irritation didn't last beyond the first month.
I feel like there are a lot of Invisalign only/primary providers on YT and I don't feel like they're as honest about price differences and performance, which I think is unfortunate. I feel like your video most aligned with my original consult at my orthodontist.
Hello! I am a senior in high school and get my Invisalign aligners removed today! I know you had questions about Invisalign from someone who had them and I am thinking about going into a social work degree. Could I ask for your opinion of the social work degree and the field that you’re going into and just how everything is?
Wow, finally an honest video comparing the two. Now I get why they are so pushy with Invisalign. It's not the better option It's just better commission for their office 🤔
Love this video , I was really thinking of getting braces for many years ... I really don’t care to feel like ugly Betty for one year ish ... I just want a better smile .. I was told in inviserline but I don’t think I could hack the taking out an putting in...
I have done both braces (4 years) and Invisalign (2 treatments over 1.5 years).
I found braces to be way more painful, harder to clean my teeth and my mouth was more prone to cuts from the brackets/wires.
Invisalign was easier to manage, could take them in and out whenever I wanted to give my teeth a rest from the pain and more suitable for my lifestyle.
However I could never have gotten my teeth as straight as they are now with just Invisalign because the work was extensive. With Invisalign I had to keep getting new trays made because my teeth just weren't tracking or the fit was always slightly off.
Thank you so much this just reaffirmed my decision. I really hope my new ortho will be this honest and not force either on me but let me decide what I want for my journey 😂
That’s really helpful. I don’t care much about aesthetics rather get my teeth straight faster and I’m not good at routines.
I got my trays in 2 weeks. I went to one Orthodontist and they quotes me $5000 for traditional braces. Went to another Ortho and they quoted me $4500 for both traditional and Invisiline. I just stuck with the second one. I practice IF so far I am happy with the Invisiline.
I’m 32 and went with traditional braces because as a mom of 5 I was afraid i couldn’t comply 100 percent with the alignmeners.
At my orthodontist invisiline is $500 less than braces

My dentist now has Invisalign covered by Medi-cal, but not braces, I wanted braces but she said might as well get Invisalign since I don’t have to pay for it, I’m so sure what to do
Can you make a video about how you tackled student loan debt for orthodontics and dental school? Please include how you recommend aspiring orthodontists (like me) should do it. I want to be an orthodontist, but I’m hearing stories of how people have north of $800k in debt by the end of it. Super scary stuff man.
Will do but as far as loans go there are tons of government programs that can help with loans because many students come out with 500-800k in loan debt:(

Thanks for the helpfull video. I am considering invisalign but i will also need jaw surgery (overjet bite, maybe double jaw surgery). I have my consultation in a few weeks. Do you have to wear braces in the surgery bit of the treatment or is invisalign an option? Please excuse my poor English..
i've had elastics put on the first visit for changing wires after two months braces were put. already can see how my teeth moved

When I went to see the orthodontist consult, after all the pictures, xrays, etc. they told me that I couldn't get invisilign because of all that needs to be done. I dont know if they are really telling me the truth or what? I cant find ONE SINGLE VIDEO ON UA-cam that says for exact reasons why an orthodontist would only offer a patient one option? Was I ripped off or what? They didn't even offer me clear brackets so here I am as a 55 yr old lady with the mouth of a teenager...NOT A GOOD LOOK.
Seems a bit one sided toward braces. I had braces already and after my teeth moved. Now I'm choosing Invisalign for my second treatment and I prefer the aesthetics and don't want to be a metal mouth at age 32. The cost is worth it. It's not as time consuming and inconvenient as he mentions. Very one sided and not really neutral comparison
My Invisalign arrive a week after my scans.
My general dentist informed me that by teeth alignment is very bad and he suggests Invisalign for me. I have crowns on all of my molars. Would Invisalign be a better choice for me than braces? I need one more crown on tooth #5. Should I put a crown before Invisalign?

I only remove my Invisalign twice a day, because I only eat two meals a day. I also work from home, so it makes Invisalign convenient.

Which one is better for upper canine intrusion? I had an elongated upper canine due to my canine does hit with my lower teeth

I’ve been on my Invisalign treatment for 3 years. In between I did switch to braces and back to Invisalign. I hate Invisalign 😂 I feel like my dentist pushed it on me. Anyway I switching to braces AGAIN & it’s worth the price difference
Why do you prefer braces over Invisalign?

If a person gets braces and they later don't want to continue treatment with them (they don't feel comfortable, etc.)...Can they switch over to Invisalign instead?

Oh okay. Can getting braces or Invisalign done help with reducing a "scalloped tongue"?
My tongue is always pressing against my teeth, which leaves indentations along the sides of my tongue.
My side lower teeth are "tilted inwards", if that makes sense.
My teeth are not next to each other, there is just a little space between them, and I just don't like it... Which one is better? And can it with a invisalign your teeth white?
Try Invisalign. It should work well.
My upper teeths are all porcelain crowns. Because of a missing tooth, i have spaces between some of the crowns. Can i use invisiline to diminish the spaces?

I got a question. Im currently in grade 12 and i'm interested to be a dentist one day. Can I still be a good dentist if my biology and chemistry score is okay, but I don't love the biology and chemistry subject?

I am 51 and my mom could only afford braces for one out of three kids. My sister's teeth were really bad, so she won out on the braces. I am on a budget and still want to fix my teeth, I don't want braces at my age because I think I'd look ridiculous, but if they end up being cheaper, I'd have to go that route. Ugh

Now that’s not true I got braces in 1995 when I was 13 and I cost my mom 5,000.00. A lot of people get Invisalign because it’s Che’s oh er than braces and to visit you. How much would you charge for braces? And one last question do you think a lot of orthodontist like yourself are upset because not all people are investing on braces and that orthodontist offices are losing out in business to help more people?

Yes it's a little weird to do both and yes I think it's hard to learn but anything is possible!
@@ThriveDentist some general dentists told me that orthodontists walk around drinking coffee (metaphorically speaking about ortho being an easy specialty) I wonder if that's true? I know you need hand skills and all but did you get used to it?
