Due to Corona, I have an excessive amount of time on my hands, so I've put it upon myself to catch the whole dex in gen 2, and then to breed/SR until I have the whole Gen 2 shiny living dex.

If you're playing Red/Blue, Ditto can be found on Route 13, 14, and 15 and not in the Pokemon Mansion.

Okay so it’s 8 months after successfully doing this and breeding my first Shinies in Gen 2 games. I’ve JUST now realized that if you take your shiny ditto from the daycare in your G/S/C games and use it to encounter any wild random Ditto. If that wild ditto uses transform twice on your shiny ditto you will effectively be able to turn every single wild ditto into a shiny legit ditto… 😂

If you trade the Gyarados back to GS after teaching it Mimic, you can let the Gyarados forget every other move than Mimic in Blackthorn City. That makes it easier because the Ditto always uses Transform again because it becomes the only attack of the Gyarados.
That's true but then you'd need to use a different Pokemon to lower the Ditto's health, because this will also deprive Gyarados of any attack moves

It is also possible to do this Ditto DV exploit with just Pokémon Crystal but it is more luck-based, basically you need to hatch a Shiny Cleffa from the Odd Egg that you only receive in Crystal, evolve the Cleffa and make the Shiny Clefairy learn Metronome, then find a wild Ditto and make it Transform into the Shiny Clefairy and hope it uses Metronome and it picks Transform as the chosen move, it will then copy the DVs when transforms again. It is harder, but is a method that you can do if you don't have access to the gen 1 games.
You can do it without a shiny pokemon if you breed a togepi or clefairy that has the shiny gene but it’s even harder lol

Just a little heads up, you don't need a shiny ditto just a ditto with 10 def and special of 2 or 10 (Shiny ditto has 10 def and 10 special). What I did was left gyarados in the daycare and just caught dittos until I found one that couldn't breed with gyrados. A little tip for those with one ds and/or a foreign gold/silver.

Delete the three damaging moves off the Gyarados in Gen 2 before trading to Gen 1 to make the double transform smoother.
Speknoz yeah, there's no need to worry about damaging the ditto with dragon rage since you can clone master balls in red/blue

The ditto doesn’t have actually to be shiny, it only needs to have a defense DV of 10 and a special DV of either 2 or 10. Breeding passes down the ditto’s defense and either the ditto’s special stat, or +/- 8.
So, the hard thing isn't to hatch the shiny...
The difficult thing is to get the egg.

@@AmodeusR dude, I consistently got shinies within first 6 eggs, it’s a 1/64 chance. Although, I got literally 200 eggs for a Shiny Porygon which was tough, it’s so worth it. Overall the easiest “legit” shiny hunting method for all Pokémon that can breed without using some coin case glitch and works with Crystal

The eggs only take an eternity to hatch. It's realllllllyyyyyy grindy lol. But very nice odds.

An easier way to get a shiny ditto is a version of the coin case glitch that will turn the first Pokémon in your party into a shiny. There’s a poke tips video that explains how to do it.

When breeding with the shiny ditto, does the offspring Shuckle HAVE to be shiny to pass the DVs to another Shuckle with an egg move or can it be any non shiny offspring Shuckle from the shiny ditto?

i think he already made a guide for that. i know its not for gen 2 so some things may be different but i don't think the actual breeding ivs part has changed much between generations.
Would it be possibly to perform the same trick with one's own ditto, in the encounter with the shiny Gyarados in gold/silver? Simply use transform twice on the wild Gyarados, and make the ditto shiny, or does it have to be a wild Ditto and the other way round? Great video!

After the fist your moves will become the gyarados moves

I hatched a shiny Eevee after 6 eggs using a shiny Ditto. Then I cloned about 50 of them for Master Balls and Rare Candy.
What is the gender of the Eeve you used with your Ditto?

Are the shiny odds only increased if its a shiny ditto or can you for example use the shiny garados directly to breed and get the same high rate?
I’m pretty sure gyarados also has a high chance to get a shiny through breeding, but it only works within gyarados’ egg group, ditto can breed with everything

I literally got so lucky with my shiny. I caught the Red Gyarados but later on in the game surfing, I found a gold Magikarp. So I’m just gonna teach the Magikarp Mimic when I can find someone with another 3DS with these VC games and the Ditto will transform only knowing Mimic and Splash 🤑🤑🤑🤑
If i breed a male charmander with outrage with female larvitar, my larvitar child will have outrage right? So when i breed my newly hatched male larvitar with outrage with the shiny ditto, will the childs of them have outrage or will the eggmove be lost? you probably could, but you would have to find a way to dump a physical cartridges save bc it was from stadium. for all that work getting a gen 7 one would be easier

I bred a male larvitar with my shiny ditto and got a female shiny larvitar after 15 eggs, why is it female? Should it not be male? If it got my dittos genes which counts as the female, the gender of the shiny offspring should be male right? So how did i get a female shiny larvitar, please help

I haven't been able to find an answer to this anywhere but imagine this: instead of using a shiny pokemon what if you used a pokemon with Perfect DVs and instead of catching the ditto, what if you switched in a second pokemon that knows mimic, learned transform yet again, used it twice, and ended the battle. Is it possible that using a method like that can enable you to spread perfect DVs from one pokemon to the rest of your team?

So question I'm passed 64 eggs I'm 75 eggs now and no shiny I'm breeding koffing using the glitch shiny ditto where is my shiny? what am I doing wrong?
Keep going, it doesn't garuantee you get it in 64 overall. It's a 1/64 chance each egg hatched, so sometimes it might take 100 + eggs 😁

I hope to god they never patch this. This is such a neat trick and farming shinies in G2 Virtual Console still takes FOREVER.
They plan on patching it the same time they patch the missingno. glitch in the gen1 VC games.

Pokémon red version, route 23 has ditto above level 30 with a %30 encounter rate.😉
Also this glitch can be performed with any gen 1 shiny, not just gyarados, so if you’re lucky enough to catch a shiny one, you can get your shiny ditto as soon as you reach ecruteak city. Gyarados is featured more often because it’s a guaranteed gen 1 shiny.
If you use the coin case glitch to make ditto shiny will it work for breeding shiny pokemon?

To everyone who has yellow, it took me 3 and a half hours to get my Shiny Ditto in the Pokemon Mansion. Go to Blackthorn first, and delete all of the Gyarados' moves EXCEPT Bite.
Should i also delete mimic?

Question, I have a shiny male totodile in the daycare with a trader female totodile. People say the dv’s are passed down to the opposite gender of the parent. So, dose that mean my shiny will be female, if so are my odds higher since a Female totodile is 1/8?

I have a tricky question... So it's impossible to breed shiny pokemon if the gender ratio is 12% like female Togepi. And the shiny gene is transfered to the opposite gender offspring of the shiny parent, right? Say you have a female Togetic and a shiny male Xatu that knows Future Sight. Is it possible to use these 2 pokemon to breed a shiny male Togepi with that particular egg move? I have to know before I try it out myself.
You can't get a shiny female for Pokemon with the starter gender odds.

Guys Ive been trying to get a shiny corsola, but my shiny gyarados doesnt like the corsola, I caught 4 corsolas and my gyarados liked none of them, can anyone explain why gyarados doesnt like any of the corsolas? It always says "it shows no interest in corsola"
I normally watch the theme teams and the sweeps but this helps alot. I plan on trying to get extra shiny gyarados and maybe a charizard and transfer them to gen 7 if my sister allows me to buy RBY on her system.

Has to be a shiny Ditto. Any other shiny will be 1/128 odds. Also, you don't have to have Yellow beaten. You just need to beat Team Rocket in Saffron to get the TM and get to Cinnabar mansion to encounter Ditto.

I dont know because I've been trying this out with my shiny sudowoodo that knows mimic and it looks like you have to wait for the opponent to use their move before you can mimic in crystal.

Mew learns transform at lv 10 so, no. The mew glitch only pops up
lv 7 and lower.
