Absolutely in love with this, the way you can lay out the farms around the town feels SO good even if the visuals of the farms could be a little better
This is the first real good video I've seen of Cities 2. I'm more excited for it now than I was when people were drawing words in the game with the road tool up in the air.
I think between you and YUMBL, this is a great example of a small American city! I've seen a few others videos and I really think between the two of you guys, these are the best to incaptulate the feel and real life look of an American City/town. Thank you for showcasing your city!
If you like the realistic American recreations, consider checking out Infrastructuralist's little series on a small American town build, he has a really cool shader setup that was so good I confused his cinematic camera shot with a real drone shot. Lots of cool assets too
This is exactly how I want to play this game. Actually progress through the levels, looking like a small town then growing to a giant metropolis. Can't wait to see how some original decisions turn out later on
Its both a blessing anda curse tbh. Having trees grow slowly mean you have to care about preserving them alot more. It adds a really cool realism aspect in that way.... Buut i also just want trees to be fully grown so i can see how pretty everything looks 😅
@@twodollarstwenty I think one way to solve it, it's as you develop your city you can buy fully grown trees but i't will cost you more money as you're not really planting new seeds...
6 block wide buildings?! Also I LOVE the path building tool, how you can create paths parallel to roads! I was obsessed with making pathways and bike trails in CS1, but was constantly frustrated and how it looked when it was constantly trying to clip onto the road near by
Oh my gosh my soul is ready. This is a great video to introduce the experience. I'm so glad you've stuck with the game all this time, your presentation is always so professional and friendly. And you have me invested in Dunyeti! I can't wait to see what you're working on a year from now once we all really have the feel for this. The lack of ground colors kills me a bit ... this is something I hoped would be expanded, not eliminated! Map themes were the biggest limitation of the first game IMO. But as you said, mods and assets have the possibility to fill in a lot here. If I can figure out the asset requirements I'll probably get going on trees before it's even released, lol. Having growth stages for trees is fun; it's something I tried to do with my assets before and now I can make it official :)
One thing I think could be really neat is the ability to mark a highway or rail as "going off-map" to a specific place, maybe even one in your saved cities. They could make it so named NPCs, etc, could move or commute between cities.
I Loved this Video, one of the most relaxing things ever. I loved the Idead with the Train Stuff and the build music in the background. Just an excellent Video :)
I REALLY LOVE how every single creator that’s had this same challenge of a 30 minute video that can’t go past grand village, has a completely different take and style on building and what they want to achieve and the size of what they end up with, as a rail enthusiast, love the focus on rail in this video!
The day/night visual make a big difference for me, hehe. One thing I've noticed, is the fact that cs2, apparently, didn't bring beaches or shore lines to the game. It all makes it look boring sometimes. Hopefully, it'll change in the future. Also, changing the color of the ground/water or adding sand and other elements would be very helpful!!
As a railway traffic engineer I sugfest you make the spur that runs along side the river single tracked. I would imagine it would never get so much freight to justify building double tracked line. Looks to me that it would only serve farms as there are big mountains behind it. Also try and make through tracks at the depo (if there are none) so trains can pass the depo without using depo tracks. This can be done on the sides.
I'm really enjoying all of the CS2 content today. Amazing. Hopefully props will come at some point, but you just showed how some care with planning and layouts can still achieve some really great design elements, uniqueness and personality.
I don’t think anyone has ever mad me want to buy anything anymore than you have, you make this game sound so much better and after watching this video it’s made me want it so much more
Dunyeti is so cute!! by the time we could see the whole town start to come together, I had such a smile on my face. this is the first video of yours I have seen, but definitely not the last. so excited for cities skylines 2!!
I will say for people worried about performance. As someone who has worked with an indie dev in the past, Optimization and visual/graphics polishing is almost always saved for the last month or two. Also as for the build I love the small town vibes, reminds me a lot of where I live being a riverside industry town. I still have concerns and I hope the devs have seen the outcry from the detailing crowd and will address it either before launch or with a post-launch update. Props, Rocks, Fences and maybe an option to purchase full grown trees would resolve a lot of the concerns I've seen. Oh also Contour lines, which is... the weirdest omission I never expected to just not be there. Everything else though especially the additions of Medium Density, Rowhouses, Mixed Use, THE ROAD TOOLS are fantastic.
Obviously graphics polishing and fixes are the last part of game development as if you create it for 5 years, new technology comes and you want to provide updated product in the end. However... come on - it's 2 months before release and it doesn't require just "polishing" but 99% of textures should be replaced with new ones. This game doesn't look like 2018 production but more like 2012. Transport Fever 2 , Cities Skylines 1 had so much better resolution of textures. So much more details.
I've been watching ALL the big names in the CS youtuber community and I'm hyped to see what kind of builds everyone comes up with in the release version of the game.
What I noticed right off the bat is that the lightning is more realistic then cartoonish, improved traffic and civilians! And better models! Awesome!!! But of course, they have some textures that are worst…. The sidewalk and the streets just seem to stretchy and have little to no textures!
The care paradox has put into little quality of life things and tools is amazing I don't even know what people can make mods about. And the standard has been set so high for ingame assets they look beautiful (I can't wait to place my train depot I'm already imagining a town that started off manufacturing trains.)
Very excited for this, and your city looks great but I hope they fix the horrible daytime lights inside all the houses and office buildings. Not very realistic and super distracting if I’m tbh
This game is going to be incredible.. it's on par with heavily modded CS1 gameplay, but easier, and cleaner, and more integrated.. I love the new sort of area drawing mechanic (like for farms.. around here, farms are very narrow and very long due to the river valley so I want to build those!), how stuff is less centralized on cars, and the ease of so many things! I love how your city looks, specifically with the railway.
Love the idea of the stream from the mountains. Would have loved to see naturally occurring water sources along steeper slopes, giving you elevation for your water.
Looks great. Can’t wait to play it. However, I do have quite a few reservations about it - The lack of any line tools etc for trees seems like a major oversight - plopping them by hand looks like a pain. - The lack of any contour information is very odd since they were in CS1 and are very useful - Lack of decals-surface painter (as you mentioned) - Lack of any sort of props (as far as I can see) - Also, not a big thing but feel it would be really nice to see more than one industrial zone type, for example would be great if there was a light industry option (eg. small units, light manufacturing, warehouses etc). - the lack of any sort of anarchy options, I know this will come as a mod but would be great to have the flexibility to add props, trees etc to buildings for example. Overall looks amazing tho and props to Colossal Order
Wow, the cinematic shots at the end were so good. Not saying I was underwhelmed before, but they blew me away. The fact that it looks this good vanilla is so promising.
What I would also love to see CS2 implement is directional zoning and optional larger zone sizes. SimCity 4 used to have directional zoning where you could control and see at glance which road the buildings will face onto by having an arrow pointing towards the road/street also giving you a clear outline of individual plot sizes. I do thing this would be extra helpful.
Wow, not to throw shade, all the CS2 videos from today are great, but yours is definitely the most realistic! And you didn't even use up the 30 minutes haha
Excellent series! I really don't like how there are cranes for every single construction site; takes away from the realism imo. Nobody is going to have a large tower crane for a single family home.
Your POV has been my favourite. It's obvious that you've had a decent amount of gameplay and understand the new mechanics really well. Looking forward to seeing how this city grows.
Kinda reminds me of my town with the trains, rivers, and farm land but also with the mountains looking over the town (however the mountains near me arent that massive but still). I don't know how to explain it but it kinda gives me a cozy feeling. Can not wait for this game to release!
Wow, you're very good to make cities. The thing that impressed me is the fact you had a very clear idea of what you want to create. Its facinating. Im looking forward to see more of your creations in Cities Skylines 2.
I really really really hope that the road color is adjusted (or adjustable by players) because it does not look good IMO. Either tone down the “worn” part of the road to match the rest of the road or make the rest of the road closer to the lighter “worn” part. The color difference between the two seems way too drastic.
I also agree. I would have loved to have seen roads becoming more work over time abs repaired with maintenance. I think the textures are still a tad off
Since crops are planted in rows typically farms are square(ish) or in lines so farming equipment can be used more effectively. Since livestock farms have multiple barns and buildings spread out across them to isolate certain things from other things (farm equipment storage/shop from animal barns where milk production happens for example) I think you might like the look better if you avoided roundness. It seems the barns and buildings that pop up on them take on the nearest perimeter angles in their placement.
Ooooh yes. Love that you people have started uploading vids. Nothing wrong with more famous and casual UA-camrs playing, but I've been waiting for the more dedicated content creators.
It looks amazing and I'm so excited for the game release! But I'm really hoping there will be a Day 1-mod that turns off the tree aging and just lets us plop fully grown trees! xD
Thank you for this video, the base game already looks amazing! I just wish they pushed the tree improvement to change through seasons (getting orange during fall and losing leaves during winter) but maybe that will be implemented next! The road tool is 1000 times better than what we had in CS1, can’t wait to try it!
i've always heard about you in the CS community and am very disappointed that it took me to the 3rd of October 2023 to check you out! But I am glad I did! well done on everything from the city building to the editing and narrating!
Worst thing is after the game comes out we will probably have to wait for another year or so to get a decent amount of mods that will be enough for realistic builds
Do you know if each map has different unique buildings? I love some of the skyscrapers you used in New Dollarton but not quite sure if you have them to use in this map. I don’t know maybe they’re not available in the beta but would love to know.
Love the farm fields, but not the random placement of buildings they've added to them. It looks messy and disconnected. They should be clustered more, not spread out evenly. But more importantly, I think they need to let players decide where to place them (if at all). A better way would perhaps be to let the player add them as expansions/upgrades to the main farm house, much like how service building upgrades work. Either that, or free plopping.
right. we’ve been playing CS so long and now it’s going to be abandoned and forgotten about. not all bad tho bc the game taking its place seems to be incredible
I don't know why but the first town kind of looks like a Soviet Era Project town with all the row houses looking like housing blocks and the tall concrete towers
This game's hype and implementation of old and new ideas, listening to the community and not just being another game started from scratch, is so much better than the launch of say, KSP2. So looking forward to getting it and playing it for hours and hours!
I have got to say, as great as the new features are, I think the natural environment in CS2 has been quite disappointing. As you said the inability to change the ground colours. But also little things like you still cant create any proper cliffs only slopes that all look quite similar. I think it would really add to the realism of the game if players were given much more ability to shape and change the appearance of the land around your city.
I’m glad I finally picked up City Skylines when I did. Just enough time to get a good feel for the game and enjoy it thoroughly, now the newer, better (hopefully) version is coming out and I’m super excited to try it out
The new game looks really good, I love the feel of it, I'm just thinking so overall its got a larger map area than CS1, and with a 81 tiles alike mod, it could be larger than CS1, which would be nice! Hopefully all those far outside areas are detailed aswell in the maps and you can expand out there, as that would be amazing! Aswell as this, it may just be me, but despite the tile sizes being 3x smaller, the buildings and all, look way larger and roads, maybe its just the US Theme, but it gives me the feeling that although the map is larger, there will be less space per building, but we'll see on release, the hype is still with me.
Thats true, you will be building way less than in CS1 with 81 tiles. Not only is CS2 Smaller than CS1 (with 81 tiles) but also the scale is much bigger in CS2. It looks way better and realistic but you will have way less space.
I just hope we can expand to the full map size with a 81 tiles like mod for CS2, as the outside area appears to be like 4-5x larger than the 400 or so tiles you get as standard@@Chainsaw649
i appreciate the devs allowing these videos of gameplay to be released onto youtube. It makes me confident that there will at least be 1 good game this year.
I really would like to see slip lanes in this game. Its a fairly standard item in real life, and not having it is weird to me. Additionally, I watched your forest fire slowly encroach on your town for the entire video, super anxiety lol
Hello ! That was the best CS2 video released yet on all UA-cam ! (I wonder if all your videos are the best,I think so, but anyway) When are you planning to release next episode ? Looking forward to that !
I’m really looking forward to this game! The only worry I have is the performance of the game, every video has some serious frame drops. Maybe (hopefully) this will improve when the full game releases.
Probably won't play this until the trees are fixed and maybe if they add a bit of diversity to the upgradable buildings and land textures. Looking forward to seeing how you find it
Seeing this really eases my nerves about the map size. There’s tons of room! The scaling is much better and the level of detail makes a city feel much bigger too.
Two questions. One, can you still go into camera mode and go into pedestrian/driving mode and walk/drive around your city like in cs1? Also, can you walk/drive/see inside tunnels made for cars/trains/pedestrians?
Man the song playing in the background at 13:18 is whole vibe. If this really is what the new radio stations will be then i think i might actually listen to them, for the first time!
The biggest question before this video is out, will $2.20 play with left or right side traffic?
$2.20 🤣 thanks for the games!
Left is better
Can you guys make the game $2.20 please 🥺
if I was $0.22 (Not typo), middle lane traffic would have been the way.

i've always heard about you in the CS community and am very disappointed that it took me to the 3rd of October 2023 to check you out! But I am glad I did! well done on everything from the city building to the editing and narrating!
Thanks man I really appreciate that!
Cities Skylines 2 is so beatiful but I hope they make it more colorful like somewhat close to real life shading.
AWESOME video and storytelling!
The graphics are fantastic in CS2
Of all newest CS2 videos released, this one takes the cake... I love the look of this village!
Can’t wait for the custom creations that people will create to add in the game in the future .
Exactly! Let's be honest, the asset and modding community is the absolute number 1 thing that made CS1 so incredible.
@@VlerkeDamneTrue. Its nice to see people playing the game but for me it's the aesthetics, too. Modded cities are pieces of art.
No guarantee CS2 will be as easily moddable, the tech probably changed to allow for more performance.
Worst thing is after the game comes out we will probably have to wait for another year or so to get a decent amount of mods that will be enough for realistic builds
hopefully the assets can be easily ported.
Best CS2 gameplay video I've seen so far. Great job!
For a base game, in progress, damn it looks good (graphically ) nice Paradox.
There's a nice foundation here for all the DLCs to come. I'm looking forward to what mods come out after release
That redo really was worth it - this is so aesthetically pleasing!
Never watched a video of yours but that gday intro made me smile lol
It feels weird, the past is quickly shuttering. Just as all I suppose, it can never last forever.
right. we’ve been playing CS so long and now it’s going to be abandoned and forgotten about. not all bad tho bc the game taking its place seems to be incredible
I don't know why but the first town kind of looks like a Soviet Era Project town with all the row houses looking like housing blocks and the tall concrete towers
No comrade, it's just a "normal" housing for our army.
Why is his voice suddenly so high pitched?
The idea of drawable industry/farm fields is great! just seems like they were a bit lazy with it...
This is so relaxin' yet nice lookin' im excited to discover City: Skylines 2 :D
This game's hype and implementation of old and new ideas, listening to the community and not just being another game started from scratch, is so much better than the launch of say, KSP2. So looking forward to getting it and playing it for hours and hours!
I have got to say, as great as the new features are, I think the natural environment in CS2 has been quite disappointing. As you said the inability to change the ground colours. But also little things like you still cant create any proper cliffs only slopes that all look quite similar. I think it would really add to the realism of the game if players were given much more ability to shape and change the appearance of the land around your city.
ooweee indeed. looks awesome, can't wait for the game.
(and more of your sound effects :D)
Came to see more of the new game, (can’t wait to get my hands on it), stayed for the trains. Great vid, cheers
I really love your build. Subscribed.
Mannn, I cant wait to get my hands on this game, Great vid as usual man, can't wait for the next! :)
2d20, did you mess about with the voice mixing in this video? You sound *way* higher pitched and *way* squeakier.
Probably won't play this until the trees are fixed and maybe if they add a bit of diversity to the upgradable buildings and land textures. Looking forward to seeing how you find it
Absolutely love your storytelling skills!
Seeing this really eases my nerves about the map size. There’s tons of room! The scaling is much better and the level of detail makes a city feel much bigger too.
The snow line along the top of the mountains is too even. They should make it have varying altitudes
I am discovering your channel. Very great video!
