I miss the old days but that's why I'm here...to learn and maybe even justify my own scanner. But not the Snap-on, that's way beyond my pay scale or capabilities. I'm really happy that the new one is working out for you. One less headache in the shop.
WAIT.....YOU FORGOT TO SHARE THE TOOL UNBOXING WITH US.... :( Mrs. O said tools arrived and I got all giddy to see new and shiny stuff! LOL, thanks for the video man, keep em coming! Have a good week!
Big thanks for this video! I had an 04 LeSabre with a theftlocked radio. My MP808TS didn't have the "setup"option for the LeSabre. I then remembered this video and manually identified the vehicle as an 05 Aztek and used the "setup" option under there. I figured I was worth a shot, and wouldn't you know it worked like a charm to unlock the LeSabre radio!
TRIED THIS ON AN 05 SILVERADO WITH MAXISYS ELITE. WOULDNT WORK. NO RADIO SETUP OPTION I'LL HAVE TO REMEMBER YOUR FINDINGS AND TRY IT ON MY NEXT GM ADVENTURE
Yeah, eric wheres the new tools? just wanted to say i'm a tech at a hyundai dealership, but we service and repair all makes and models, i've picked up more tips and tricks from watching your diag videos than my factory training..thanks for doing what you do, man. fellow upstater.
The way iv done it is to call the dealer and talk to the parts department and give them the serial number on the radio and they could give you the code to unlock it manually, worked for me in some cases, not sure it works for every car.I have the Autel scanner and didn't know this was possible so thanks Eric for the heads up.
I put a GM navigation radio in my 2006 GMC sierra. Worked great in ACC mode, but when you went to start it "theftlock" appeared on the screen. It took the GM dealer 5 min to unlock it to the tune of $150.00. What a rip.
I praise you for using the factory radio in this GM. I can't stand aftermarket radios in GMs especially because they remove the door chime yes I know you can get a box to make it do the door chimes but they usually sound crappy.
Thanks for the tip bro.. Had to do a salvage swap on my 02 cavalier and used my shops Matco scan tool to unlock the radio. Good thing i still have the original RPO codes in the trunk.. Now i can jam out to some Avenge Sevenfold on the way home !..!,
Thanks for the nice sweet way of getting around the lock problem / yeah to bad about those display light bulbs in pontiac radio of that style I just soldered out and in 3 bulbs behind the display/ was 10 to 12 dollars excellent video, this will help pontiac owners.
It is funny how the only radios with anti-theft stuff are the cheap junk OEM radios. Had a flat battery on my son's 10 year old Nissan that locked the radio, and we didn't have the code. Dealer wanted £55 (Around $80) to give us the code to unlock the radio worth £5 at a push!
Out of curiosity I tried this w/ a Launch as well. It has a radio section but not a setup option. The Launch does have a few shortcomings but as a backyard mech it was still a good investment though. Alternative is to either pull the lock chip out or if you have a hot air station swapping them should work too to avoid the "config error" msg.
I don't know about the 05 Aztec but my 05 Grand Prix You have to buy a bundle of not so cheap add ons to install an aftermarket radio if you want to keep the onstar, warning chimes, retained accessory power steering wheel controls etc...
Around 2003 and later, the brand new GM radio eprom chip is blank, once the vehicle is turned on for the first time at the factory, the BCM(body control module) finds the radio, its then programed to the VIN# of the vehicle, therefore "locking" it to that vehicle only. The "data bus" connection to the radio verifies the radio at every vehicle startup and allows it to turn on only if the feedback info from the eprom chip is correct. These high dollar scanners, as seen in this video, can actualy reset the eprom chip back to zero VIN, so when the radio gets installed into a different GM vehicle, within a set number of years of course, along with similar radio wiring connections, once again, the BCM comes into play and reprograms the radio for that vehicle.
My Verus Pro never had a problem before I got the Verus Edge but it's always nice to have 2 scanners with different capabilities. Nice touch comparing both. That radio made me laugh b/c it always starts off with a little prying and then frustration takes over and they give you the radio in pieces.
Okay, I'm going to put you on the spot ! Verus Pro, MaxiDAS are obviously "professional" tools (well, you have to be a pro to afford them). Are you willing to go out on a limb and recommend a diagnostic tool in the
i believe you can get an advanced obd 2 code reader by using a smartphone and a bluetooth obd2 reader. the app for the phone is like 150 or something like that and you can get the bluetooth obd2 adapter for 20 or less.
congratulations for your videos Eric!!!....very interesting and fancy tools you have there!!!... :) :) :) and expensive I guess!!!!...those tools of yours make magic!!!!....Hello and congratulations for everybody at SMA, and hello to Ivan too!!! :) :) :) :)
Oh the aztek..grandpa to the CUV, awesome looking concept car......turned into a garbage dumpster looking of a car. Utility vehicle at its best, looks at its worst.
Hello there Yes I would like to know what app did you used to unlock 2095 Chevy Trailblazer. I order a replacement radio from E-bay but if I can keep looking for the radio that I took out replace the original radio back take out aftermarket? I'm calling from Houston TX
Eric in my Jeep Grand Cherokee which is a 1999 if I want to switch to the 2004 navigation radio I know I'm going to have a radio recognition problem how is that done on a Jeep Grand Cherokee if you can please let me or others know out there that have Chrysler products that need similar operations done I'd really like to know how it's done thank you as always great videos .
Have a question about the Autel 908. It can unlock radios, can it also program the PK3 systems? Considering getting one of these units. Can you possibly go into what you do like and not like about this particular unit? Other features?
A beast is right! A BUTT UGLY CAR! One guy at work had one in puke green that got totaled with him in it. The vehicle's only saving grace is that it saved his life! So, the car isn't that bad after all! It's still ugly! Great Video! I don't know if my Matco MaxMe can do that, but soon I'll try with the KIA.
The *Theft protection system* is only meant so that owner can not go cheap and get another unit or an upgrade, off the junk yard for cheap, before paying a hefty price to dealer (The bigger theft) otherwise I assume, every petite thief knows what to do!
Ive seen a video where a guy plugged the radio to into the vehicle with the accessory ignition on! He managed to get it unlocked hot plugging it in....
I see in a recent video that you have the Bosch ADS 625. Have you done the same with the Bosch. I am curios as i have the Mac MDT10(made by Bosch) and i need to do a 2010 Acadia radio. Thanks
That Autel is sweet for the buck ! Just wonder how long it will stay that way after the lawsuits from ford. If it does not go well for Autel don't update ! LOL!
I don't have one of those nice computers you have and after reading some of the results of clearing the lock on a 2007 Cadillac Escalade I'm afraid to take it to a dealer after replacing my radio and CD player. Cadillac on one occasion that I read about bricked the radio and won't take responsibility. Too bad your garage isn't close to where I live.
So I just bought a radio. I guess my solution is to take it to my local shop next time I get an oil change and just ask them to reprogram it for me. Easy fix, but it would've been better if I could just do the "Press 2 & 3" cheat like the older radios could.
looking for info on 99 suburban about to disarm antivtheaft or if I have one because I was play w the radio and my vehicle stopped running for Nova patient reason.in my book .I really don't know to much about or what the problem not be at this point. but would like to eliminate the anti lock thang 1#s befor replacing a bunch of parts it not needing .if you know what I mean.do you know how I can do this 1st.??????
putting a locking mechanism on a stock gm radio is like putting gold plated rims on a ford pinto!
Lmaoooooo
Locking mechanism? LOL
great now all I need is a 500 computer to get a 20 radio to work.
lol
no kidding
cheaper to buy an aftermarket system lol. and it would sound better!
This Autel scanner is like $3000 .
I miss the old days but that's why I'm here...to learn and maybe even justify my own scanner. But not the Snap-on, that's way beyond my pay scale or capabilities. I'm really happy that the new one is working out for you. One less headache in the shop.

+TheTexasCoder Dude, what's in the box?
+Dick Fageroni ahhh man, not again...
Everybody loves a little quicky to start the week...thanks Dr. O and keep on.
Big thanks for this video! I had an 04 LeSabre with a theftlocked radio. My MP808TS didn't have the "setup"option for the LeSabre. About time you get something simple! A break is nice once in a while.
That backlight, or lack of, would drive me nuts. but it's better than nothing... Autel to the rescue... You da man Eric!
Very helpful What model of Autel did you use. Thanks
Yeah, eric wheres the new tools? just wanted to say i'm a tech at a hyundai dealership, but we service and repair all makes and models, i've picked up more tips and tricks from watching your diag videos than my factory training..thanks for doing what you do, man. fellow upstater.
Those Autel scan tools are sweet. What they can do constantly surprises me.
Good and quick fix!!! The Autel came in real handy! Good video.
The way iv done it is to call the dealer and talk to the parts department and give them the serial number on the radio and they could give you the code to unlock it manually, worked for me in some cases, not sure it works for every car.I have the Autel scanner and didn't know this was possible so thanks Eric for the heads up.
Elton John singing to Marilyn Monroe with Eric O. Only at the South Main Auto Channel, baby! :)
+Gerald Hinson haha all forms of entertainment :)

That Autel is awesome. Glad it worked!

+sms373 I have an aftermarket radio in my 04 Envoy and I have the door chimes, well, when you do it right you keep the door chimes.
+Eric Brunhammer I know but the chime usually change which I don't like
Two words: Metra interface.
Eric o, you didn't mention the price of the autel. Will a 300 dollar autel do the job or do I need to spend 4 k.?
Dr O singing... BRILLIANT.
Thanks for the tip bro.. Had to do a salvage swap on my 02 cavalier and used my shops Matco scan tool to unlock the radio. Good thing i still have the original RPO codes in the trunk.. Now i can jam out to some Avenge Sevenfold on the way home !..!,

Great Video. That Autel is solid.
I had to make a trip to the pharmacy in town, and what did I see?.....a lady in a red Aztec belting out Elton John songs. Nice work Eric.
I was hoping that you'd show us the box of new tools you mentioned!
No self respecting car radio thief would get caught stealing that hunk of junk radio. The theft protection is a joke.
Funny how the early 2k's GM's I've seen lately have more security for the radio than the actual ignition. Just sad
@@SerenoOunce 🤣🤣🐽
Around 3:08 One of the buttons on the Autel showed country code. I was waiting for you to push it and then hear Waylon and Willie!!!!

Launch has radio setup as well as VIN matching, x431 I don't know which you're using..
Great quick fix why would they put a anti theft lock on radio no crook wants a cheap radio anymore they want what you got in the bank or more.
The only thing uglier than the front of a Potiac Aztec is......the rear of a Pontiac Aztec. lol
+ICU2 - That's F***ing funny dude !
they are an ugly breed
+ICU2 Funny thing is that they are one of the most reliable and durable models that GM produced in modern times.
+watershed44 i own a 2002 buick rendezvous. i know of the reliability of them. Its my daily beater
+Dick Fageroni the Chevy Malibu Maxx is an ugly child too
Which model Autel do you have? I would love to unlock an OEM radio in my POS Trailblazer
I don't know about the 05 Aztec but my 05 Grand Prix You have to buy a bundle of not so cheap add ons to install an aftermarket radio if you want to keep the onstar, warning chimes, retained accessory power steering wheel controls etc...
I’m amazed at the used camera’s depth of field. Our hero’s face is in focus as is the back wall!

I think you used the autel so you wouldn't break the verus pro and end up with a middle finger screen. good quick vid.
Typical GM....holding your radio hostage
Salvage yard - oh yeah. Nice one Eric!
My Verus Pro never had a problem before I got the Verus Edge but it's always nice to have 2 scanners with different capabilities. Nice touch comparing both. That radio made me laugh b/c it always starts off with a little prying and then frustration takes over and they give you the radio in pieces.
How do I do it without an expensive scanner, or can I borrow yours, or just come by?
This is great, if you have a fancy computer to reset it...
Did they tell you what CD was worth dismembering their car?
wow that was pretty slick..... thanks for the update Eric O. As always God bless you and your family.
Glad you answered the snap on question!!! While I was watching, I was sitting there wondering... damn, will our snap-on devices work? Thanks again!!!
Okay, I'm going to put you on the spot !

Time to do a Tool Video!!
New tools are awesome!
+Pete Gaytan III oh you know at some point we get to see them :)
Soooo at the end of this video I'm still asking the question. How do you get your car radio to work when you don't have the unlocking code?
congratulations for your videos Eric!!!....very interesting and fancy tools you have there!!!... :) :) :) and expensive I guess!!!!...those tools of yours make magic!!!!....Hello and congratulations for everybody at SMA, and hello to Ivan too!!! :) :) :) :)
Trans-Am's, GTO's, Grand Prix, Lemans, Bonneville's...all great cars. Whose idea was the Aztec?? That car is uglier than a mud fence!
Oh the aztek..grandpa to the CUV, awesome looking concept car......turned into a garbage dumpster looking of a car. Utility vehicle at its best, looks at its worst.
What good is unlocking the radio with the autel if it doesn't give you the unlock code? When that car battery dies, the radio will loc.
Thanks for the Kibbles and bits very nice video Happy New Year to your family and all peace out g eo
The GM Tech 2 will do it too.
What is The GM Tech 2?
I gave this vid a thumbs up, even tho you didn't show us WHATS IN THE BOX!!! I feel cheated. ;-p
Can you please tell me the exact Autel scan toon you used to do this? I have an 05 Silverado I want to put a factory oem CD player in.
Hello there
Yes I would like to know what app did you used to unlock 2095 Chevy Trailblazer. I order a replacement radio from E-bay but if I can keep looking for the radio that I took out replace the original radio back take out aftermarket?
I'm calling from Houston TX

Would you say the Autel DS708 is a good scan tool for a DIY mechanic?
Oh darn I wanted to see the boxes of tools that came in.....LOL -John
I want to see the NEW TOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!
Did this with the cheaper autel ms906. Seems to set it up and unlock it until you cycle key and its locked again.
Nice! Much easier than hacking the freakin EEPROM and crap...wish I'da known about that in the late 90's!
many GM cars and trucks have to have the factory radio cause many things like power doors operate from it
Have a question about the Autel 908. It can unlock radios, can it also program the PK3 systems? Considering getting one of these units. Can you possibly go into what you do like and not like about this particular unit? Other features?
did you get your autel at harbor freight cause they have those listed for 1000 dollars
List for 1000 sold for $500 new they go Fromm $500- and they go upbyo _3,800
A beast is right! A BUTT UGLY CAR! One guy at work had one in puke green that got totaled with him in it. The vehicle's only saving grace is that it saved his life! if you plugged the your doohicky into the coffee machine
would it have a code to make cappuccinos?
Which CanDo model are you using in this video? please respond
Have you tried the Modis Ultra?...super fast no waiting to load up!
Eric O singing Elton John...classic!
The *Theft protection system* is only meant so that owner can not go cheap and get another unit or an upgrade, off the junk yard for cheap, before paying a hefty price to dealer (The bigger theft) otherwise I assume, every petite thief knows what to do!
Eric, you should make some tool unboxing videos too.
you should have gone with the aftermarket radio that has the pop out 32" display. that's pretty cool both tools can do that.
Ive seen a video where a guy plugged the radio to into the vehicle with the accessory ignition on! He managed to get it unlocked hot plugging it in....
Will the Autel unlock a Delco RDS radio under the same circumstances?
do a video on how to unlock a 2000 GMC Jimmy shifter
A tapered step drill will make a round hole and not grab when going thru plastic or thin sheet metal.
Thanks for not showing us how you unlock the damn radio!!
Nice audio all the way through your camera. Sweet.
You get the Scotch 88?
I went to my independent mechanic and he did it in a couple of minutes and FREE, since I am a repeat customer !!!!!
the radio in my 1952 Hudson is acting up will the Autel work. on it if I can get a replacement at the salvage yard ?
L. O. L
I see in a recent video that you have the Bosch ADS 625. Have you done the same with the Bosch. I am curios as i have the Mac MDT10(made by Bosch) and i need to do a 2010 Acadia radio. Thanks
What sort of device are you using? Is it a tablet or an IPad? Where can I get one?
It's. Tablet
Well thanks man, what happens if we don't have a fancy code reader like yours? Need info on unlocking without a reader.
You can use a chip programmer to change the vin number in the eeprom
I got a 04 grand am 2.2 motor,& none of my cluster light will illuminate at night time. Any ideas or help? Thanks
That Autel is sweet for the buck ! Just wonder how long it will stay that way after the lawsuits from ford. If it does not go well for Autel don't update ! LOL!
I got a 2007 chevyTrailblazer that did same thing, can't afford a scanner, any other way to unlock the cdplayer, my cd player is just like that one
can the Maxisys Mini unlock a 2008 Silverado Radio?
Eric you are famous, Thomas at channel EXOVCDS uses your face on graphics when using brake clean....LOL "Eric Approved"
6:28 such a good song.
Autel... the Un-lock-ness Monster!
WHAT MODEL AUTEL DID YOU USE. MY MAXISYS ELITE WOULDN'T DO IT.
Is the scanner you use spelled Alltill or Autil?
Eric when are you letting us see your new tools ? big trumps up
I don't have one of those nice computers you have and after reading some of the results of clearing the lock on a 2007 Cadillac Escalade I'm afraid to take it to a dealer after replacing my radio and CD player. Cadillac on one occasion that I read about bricked the radio and won't take responsibility. Too bad your garage isn't close to where I live.
Hello can i unlock my gm 20934593 radio with the autel 808s or how can i unlock it. It’s on my kids 2012 Chevy avalanche. It has cd
can you give me information of the scan tool you using, i mean the odb diagnostic scanner
You didn't make it plan what website you used to fix it
So I just bought a radio.
I guess my solution is to take it to my local shop next time I get an oil change and just ask them to reprogram it for me. Easy fix, but it would've been better if I could just do the "Press 2 & 3" cheat like the older radios could.
any idea what causes securty light to come on when aftermarket stereo with amp and sub gets turned up to to a louder volume level? thanks in adavance!
Is that the maxysis pro or elite thats your using?
looking for info on 99 suburban about to disarm antivtheaft or if I have one because I was play w the radio and my vehicle stopped running for Nova patient reason.in my book .I really don't know to much about or what the problem not be at this point. but would like to eliminate the anti lock thang 1#s befor replacing a bunch of parts it not needing .if you know what I mean.do you know how I can do this 1st.??????
