Here is what you'll need!
THE ULTIMATE ROAST POTATOES
Servings: 5-6
INGREDIENTS
13 4-lb russet potatoes, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup olive oil
2 tablespoons garlic, minced
2 tablespoons rosemary, finely chopped
1 teaspoon black pepper
More salt & pepper to taste
Small handful fresh parsley leaves, minced to garnish
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 425°F/220°C.
Fill a large pot with water and boil. Add salt, baking soda, and potatoes, and stir. Return to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cook for 10 minutes after returning to a boil. A fork should easily pierce the potato pieces by the end. Drain and let sit one minute while moisture evaporates.
Combine olive oil, rosemary, garlic, and a few grinds of black pepper in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Stir constantly until garlic just begins to turn golden, about 2-3 minutes. Immediately strain oil through a fine-mesh strainer over the potatoes. Add salt and pepper to taste, and mix.
Shake the pot that the potatoes are in so that they slam against all sides of the pot, this will loosen the outer layer of the potatoes to form a mashed layer around each potato piece.
Transfer potatoes to a large rimmed baking sheet and separate them, spreading them out evenly. Transfer to oven and roast, without moving, for 30-35 minutes. Using a thin, flexible metal spatula flip potatoes. Continue roasting until potatoes are deep brown and crisp all over, turning and shaking them a few times during cooking, 30 to 40 minutes longer.
Transfer potatoes to a large bowl and add the garlic-rosemary mixture (optional) and minced parsley. Toss to coat and season with more salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Brandi L Rouppet phew. hate that guy.
he died while eating the potatoes
uffu Screw you haters.
Y'all just mad because he can cook.
Wow, buzzfeed ripped off someone else's hard work without giving them credit, what a surprise
They put it in after they got called out on it
@Jana Husam If you don't search for it you'll not find it. It should been in the video
Tanisha B tasty is owned by buzzfeed, so yeah it is buzzfeed
Recipes are meant to be shared and for others to try. I don't even think you bother to try roasting the potatoes as shown in the video.
Andrew G actually you’re supposed to bake the potatoes
I've always wondered how to make these!!! My nan used to make them but she would not tell me her recipe because that was one of my favorite things she would make. So, I'd go to her house at least once a week for these!
Aww blackmail with food. I like it
that’s cute 🥺🥺
You do know that copying other people's ideas without their permission is called theft?
Nathan Barnes
Can’t copyright a recipe, bro.
You don't know that recipes are meant to be shared with others and to actually try them. I don't think you bother roasting potatoes with the way shown in the video.
No one cares 🙄
I tried this recipe and it is amazing! Did not expect this crunchiness ~
They stole this exact recipe from Serious Eats
david moeller go watch Heston's take on chips. Pretty much the same idea as well. You can't say that someone stole a recipes if it's meant to be shared and taught for others to try. Why don't you try the recipe huh? And comment how it taste
Andrew G dude just stfu
@@Andrewg820 GO OFF! ❤

Made these tonight for dinner and they were delicious! Big thumbs up and I'll recommend the recipe!! 👍🏼👏🏼😀
Kenji did it first though....
Minhaj Hussain I was looking for this comment 😅
He did not. This has been around since at least the -90s.
I saw going to say the same thing, Minhaj
Adam Rasmussen Parboiling yes, but I don’t think the baking soda aspect has been around that long.
It's doesn't matter. Recipes cannot be copyrighted because it is meant to be shared and taught so others can actually try the recipes.
Try searching "Salmon Teriyaki" here on YT, I'm sure you'll be surprise why most videos shows exactly the same method. You can't say that someone else stole your "Salmon Teriyaki" recipe. You all know as well that Kenji is a chef, he knows how to improve this dish further
Very great job. It looks absolutely delicious!
Tried it, and it was delicious. I also tried it with sweet potatoes and they were pretty tasty too!
all tasty vids should be like this one, simple with a couple of tips... loved it.
How can you guys call this "inspired by" Serious Eats when it literally is the same recipe with 1 tweak? Pretty much plagiarism right here
Did they contact Serious Eats? I hope so. They should of put it in the actual video also, since many don't read the description.
nope, just like they don't for any of the other recipes they rip off him (check out his twitter, he's not happy!)
Did he invent it? Or there can only be one recipe for each thing on the internet? Get real and clean off your tear swollen face.
Then who the fuck has the copyrights to scrambled eggs genius if you silly potatoes with some flavoring from the oven a plagiarism?
rollercoaster24 sure I'll check but where exactly? I'm not seeing anything
You just took a serious eat recipe and copied it step by step
NoButOneMe I was about to comment the same thing
NoButOneMe Same thing I was about to say. At least give him credit, seriously.
What's sad is that this is at least the second time they've done this to Kenji
jb76489 I think this is like the 4th or 5th even. Disgusting
Who cares who gave this recipe first? If that was the vase, no one could video a chicken soup or a pork roast. Recipes are not anyones's possession. Let Tasty continue to give us great recipes transmitted in such wonderful visually videos. I love them.... keep on!!!
Just made it. Love it!!!!
You know what pisses me off the most? That this got more views than the original vid.
not anymore:D
@@mint407 Yeah! Kenji's got five times more views since last check! All is right with the world again :)
whats the original
Omg they must be tasting so yummy because I use the exact same oil mixture to make garlic bread and it tastes soo frickin good!
I've made these twice now. The first time I baked @ 350 degrees for about 50 minutes then cranked it up to 425 the remaining time. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I then made a second batch and cooked them for 1 hour @ 425 degrees, they were very crunchy and not as tender.
What a delicious recipe!!! I am going to try it, because these potatoes with a roast during our winter, here in the southern hemisphere, yummmmmy!👍👏
Wow, thank you so much for this recipe
This looks so good!
these were so good omg
'Oh Yes' is on leave!!!!
Dr Dot Com they probably fired him
70-80 minutes??!! nope. sorry. I'll just fry them in the leftover bacon grease after boiling.
Kaitlyn Kilpatrick thats what i was thinking? lol whos gonna wait that long for potatoes....Sorry but Im a very impatient person. lol 😭😛😂✌👍
Jasmine Holford saaaame! lol my mom always overcooked everything so now I'm so scared about overcoming and as a result I've become an impatient cook
Kaitlyn Kilpatrick. Onlu Americans use so much bacon that everybody has its fat put away. I think the last time I bought bacon was 5 years ago for a specific recipe. We try not to eat so much fat.
Tita Linda is just recycling it. saves money on buying Olive oil
Kaitlyn Kilpatrick I agree, but to recicle, you have to have fried bacon to start with. I do not fry or eat bacon.
Holy moly this is something I'm definitely making someday
Okay, THOSE look yummy! I'll try this with the russets I grow in my garden this year. :)

The Garlic Herb Potatoes Looks Simply Tasty
U comment on every video or many people have same profile pic?
I like how they're explaining why they do each step tbh. It helps me understand why they doing certain things when cooking
I'm literally doing this right now
Tried this recipe tonight and it was AMAZING
I would not let go of that garlic n herbs leftover.. 😍
Vegeta would be SO good with this😍
I love having cooking tips in the video!!!
shame on you for stealing recipes and not even crediting
Read the description you lazy ass
I think you need a lesson in plagiarism and how to spot it. Case in point: Check the description where it says "INGREDIENTS 13 4-lb russet potatoes" Have you ever seen a 4 pound potato? I don't think so. It's because Kenji Lopez-Alt's recipe calls for 4 pounds of russet potatoes and not 4 pound potatoes. You can check it here yourself lol www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2016/12/the-best-roast-potatoes-ever-recipe.html
I'm pretty sure they meant that 13 potatoes was enough to create 4 lbs.
Wow that's quite the stretch. haha
Who cares? Recipes aren’t possessions. It’s literally just a method of sharing your way of doing things. If I have some secret way of doing my food but you also do it that way can I claim you stole it? No. You probably thought ooo this would be good with it and bam. Same recipe. /eyeroll
lol who the hell wants to wake up and spend over an hour cooking before they eat their breakfast
People who do intermittent fasting or those that don't need food first thing they open their eyes!
Daniel Chachanashvili + If you love them, you will cook it Daniel. 😐
Sm k people who love potatoes
it takes me 5 minutes to take a shower, the hell wuld i do for another 50 minutes
Idk you're an adult do whatever you want Daniel
Yummy!
i literally just made these, and if you live in like Canada n stuff cook it at 280 for the 80 mins cuz like it worked the best for texture
I serve these for dinner when we are craving some potatoes
Everything looks 10x better when your fasting😂 y am I looking at food videos 😂
Well now I'm craving potatoes.
It isn't a bad idea to add that filtered garlic, thyme, etc. back over the potatoes a few minutes before pulling from the oven. That's the only thing I do differently with my own.
First time i seen this video i was choked they didnt. What a waste, never waste good flavours.
La virgen!! que patatas.
thyme in the vid, rosemary in description. thaaaanks
I love tasty 😋

god my mouth is watering
Woww!
id like to try this recipe with chopped onions
Tasty is always tasty 😴
That oil seasoning mix that you made and poured on the potatoes is good. But a better tip would be to use the seasonings you strained out and added them to the potatoes during the last few mins of roasting. Now that would have taken them to the next level!!
recipe is from the channel SeriousEats :)
So cute On food.
*everything you do to these potatoes will form an extra crispy exterior*
one of the first !!!!
love this channel so much!
hey Tasty! can you guys make a banana crram pie from regular fresh ingredients (not like the last minute pie),

4. then 350 for 20 min.
