Very enjoyable. I have two 14xx locos and I really enjoy them. I find the finish and detail pleasing and I also have found that the finish is quite durable. I bought the second loco for spares but they are so pretty I ended up re-commissioning it. The only thing I dislike about them is the base plate, fitting it without having the coupling springs fall out is very frustrating. I agree that it is a shame that they went broke just as they were getting the hang of it. Having seen your video, I am tempted to get some more pieces. 😊
Good morning Pauline. Yes the 14xx is a wonderful little locomotive, I recommissioned my 3rd one a while ago with a new gear, handrails and repairing a sticky pickup plunger. Those pesky springs can indeed be a frustration, usually falling out just as you're about to fit the screw. Thanks for watching and the wonderful comment, all the best to you Rob.
Thanks for sharing this video, I've got a few Airfix steam locomotives diesel locos coaches and trucks, pretty good for older models, at least you can work on them and pick them up without detailing falling off, each to their own though, Ktf J
The robustness and repairable nature of these old models is a good bonus they will probably out last many of the new models. Thanks for watching and the nice comment. All the best, Rob.
Hi my friend. Thanks for the great video you shared with us. very interesting Really nice movie thanks for sharing it. please stay logged in ..💓💝 ,, 💞 ,
Impressive collection- I get the feeling Airfix never quite nailed how to produce good quality modes at a low cost (based on a set of common, versatile and low-cost components). I do like their designs - I wonder if it could be possible to add more weight to the 14xx to help improve their pulling power further; but then again their loads were always light in real life.
Hi David Thanks for watching and the nice comment. I think it's a shame that Airfix ended so soon, their rolling stock is excellent and loco development was taking shape nicely. One down side was their reliance on self tapping screws into plastic. There isn't much more room in the 14xx as the metal chassis fills most of the space along with the 5 pole motor so not sure where extra weight could be added. Cheers Rob.
I'm very fond of the Airfix models and have several but I have to say the 14xx is my favourite. they are very well detailed for the time and the rolling stock is very good as well. 😀
The 14xx is a great little loco. Yes their rolling stock is nice, I've got a few pieces and always on the lookout for more. Thanks for watching & commenting, cheers Rob

They are wonderful models. It's a shame Airfix ran in to trouble when they did. Thanks for watching and the great comment
