I miss those freelance models that you used to make those days. Wld be a pleasure to see such more & also your 3D printed built kits. The most enjoyable freelance one I found was the railbus you made some years back... Much appreciated. 😃👌
Another great budget addition to your collection and a great idea for all your followers. A big problem for us who live outside the UK are the costs being charged by the likes of eBay for postage and now I hear some of the online model shops in the UK are doing the same by adding a premium. This will not help the hobby. Thanks for continuing to do and make👍
Very tidy job. Unless you were a rivet counter you wouldn’t know that wasn’t how it was supposed to be. Unless the Mike wasn’t picking it up it didn’t actually sound that noisy either. Great looking bit of kit.
Im going to be using this kit's running board to build my own freelance steam locomotive, and thanks to you i know it will fit on this chassis without issue!
Great little loco. All those plastic loco kits just waiting for a motor to be fitted, I think you have just inspired a whole new generation of budget builders especially with the mouthwatering prices on offer today. I know my local model shop has shed loads of old chassis's waiting for a bit of TLC and a nice new body. Well done on this great little project.
It looks really good, nice smooth runner sounds a bit like my old Dapol Terrier. A great project, I'm inspired to delve around my spares box, sure I've got some stuff that can be re-invented!
If you painted the connecting rods red that would have the twin benefit of looking very smart and maybe reducing the amount of moaning from the rivet counters.
Back on your channel .. and finaly back in the hobby again 🤙😎.. had a downtine foe a few months .. but now i found my "modelling Mojo" again 😍 awsome vid. As always ^^
I’ve been wondering about doing one of these and altering to ‘Mavis’ Wisbech tramway spec, wouldn’t even matter for many if it was placed on the 0-4-0 with the tram side plates hiding the ‘blasphemy’ or to be honest might be fairly nice as a freelance 0-4-0 anyway a bit like the dapol railbus you’ve done as a surprisingly attractive C0:C0. Now if only you knew someone who produced 3D printed models to make a conversion kit 😉
@@BudgetModelRailways ha glad to know you were already on that wave length! I’m guessing the old hornby 0-6-0 generic Jinty/Pannier/3F/Thomas chassis is a bit too long as you have the terrier here, shame. Great piece of work though again chaps 👍
I've always thought about sticking in any old chassis that fits and fitting the side skirts that they used on the Wisbech and upwell tramway or Yarmouth docks it would make an cheap but interesting loco
Very nice! Certainly a smooth runner by the looks of it, so I think you should definitely go for another one in green if you can get the chassis! 😎 Quite right about the rivet counter thing: she looks good, works well, where’s the problem? 😜👍
Great conversion! I really should get that Dapol kit too. What paint did you use to get the right BR blue? I would like to buy BR blue but I think Vallejo and Revell don't have this colour?
Cute engine. One thing that has always stopped me from buying a loco kit from Dapol is the motorization process. I'm interested by the Pug (the RTR hornby is a joke : GBP 63 retailer's price !) and I am looking for a black beetle motorized bogie that can be used for it. Problem one : coupling rods, problem two : wheels diameter and wheelspan. The second one is not critical, with a good original plan, I can fugure out what dimensions are correct, but for the first, I don't have a solution...
There's a guy on eBay selling a railbus motorizing kit for £13. it's a homemade jobby by the looks but it has motor, gears and shafts as well as a very basic plasticard chassis. Must admit it looks tempting...

Very nice, thank-you!
And very best wishes to all in these maddening times!
I think the whirring of the motor adds to it.Its a good sound.
Agreed

Ive seen that on ebay for months when looking for diesel shunters. Great to see it can be converted and it looks great on the layout
I've just bought another body to paint br green

she looks great mate well done happy shunting

That is fantastic and yes get another one and paint it in BR green and it will look great nice little loco you have.
Brilliant. Keep the films coming.
Thanks

Sadly the 0-4-0 chassis won't fit the motor is to wide and high

Thanks. I think it was a humbrol acrylic from the RC range
@@BudgetModelRailways Thanks 🙏
Nice loco , must do a class 04 to with my 2 class 03s and as these are both blue will do one in green .
Just going to start one myself. Going to fit a bachmann chassis

If only, especially the 0-6-0. The 0-4-0 chassis was available up to a year ago direct from Hornby for £13 but they stopped producing it
Cool, reminds me of a photo I have of a similar black diesel with a tram skirt fitted, an idea perhaps?
MAVIS!
Think I might try this on a lima 0-6-0 I have got
Might be a bit big but worth a try
Will it fit on a Hornby 0-4-0 chassis?
I don't know, I didn't try but I think not as the motor is a lot wider
@@BudgetModelRailways ok thanks anyways 😀
Nice job , looks good 👍
Love to see it in a running session
Great - you could do the same with other models
I've just bought the Deltic kit to put on a US outline chassis, and have motorised two of the rail busses
Very nice! Next you should do the Dapol railbus :P
I'm working on that using a Lima centre cab freelance diesel loco
@@BudgetModelRailways nice! I look forward to seeing it! I’ve got the kit in the stash but would really like to motorise it

Crackin vid and amazing paint work! :)
Thanks
Can you film some running sessions and shunting sessions?
Shunting video went out last night

Hi sorry at beginning you say class 040 but it’s a 060
Nice one👍
What was the ‘ ballast’ in that video?
It's javis ballast mat the beige colour for a change
I splashed out £6!
Is it the old chassis? Or the new tool one.
The old one I'm guessing
Suppose you made an 0-4-0 version of a Drewry using the same Dpaol kit and a Hornby 0-4-0 chassis?
Sadly it won't fit
@@BudgetModelRailways Oh, that's a shame. Plus, I am working on a project myself.
That looks great
Nice job!
It's Mavis the quarry diesel
Very nice model but can you not put two "subscribe" animations at the beginning of your video? It's pretty annoying.
Subscribers keep the channel going, as do the various ads, sorry
Nice loco
Rather nice little loco?
Not nice, just a great little shunter at that price I'd say.
Exactly and there is always something nice about something you built yourself

Yes. Fun to do. You can get an old Mainline chassis to fit too..

Diesels aren't quiet, anyway.
True lol
nice job adapting it for an 0-6-0 chassis, BTW.
