Been looking for a battery pack for camping and I've been so lost on finding what the DreamStation 2 needs, can't believe I stumbled upon this video. You're a life saver!
I've got what I guess is called dyscalculia--numbers won't stay in my head, and arithmetic by hand means running the math three times, and two out of three is usually the right number. So I'm DELIGHTED to find this video. I've also used a CPAP over 20 years (currently 73 yo) before they came with the newfangled heat and humidity, basically, run both our cpaps off the car battery while tent camping, off the cigarette lighter sometimes overnight, and never had a problem. Now belonging to several camping and vanlife groups, folks are always running around, freaking out about running their battery or portable power station flat. I suspected it was the heat and humidity doing them in, but you demonstrate it VERY clearly. Basically, from cigarette lighter to a monstrous portable power station, which one ALSO has to ensure gets fully charged, a whole nother deal, from driving, from solar, or from regular a/c, all either with expensive adaptations, solar setup, or the inconvenience for most finding where to plug it in--places like libraries, health clubs, restaurants. Which you certainly couldn't do with a 1000 or 2000 watt setup.
I am very grateful for this video, and even more grateful that you got to the point right away. I have been considering getting a battery pack for a long long time for my CPAP for camping, and didn't realize that the power consumption measurements in the spec sheet were including heat and humidity. This makes huge difference to me! Thank you!

With little understanding as to the meaning of those numbers i had no real idea on how long it would run my dreamstation, your well explained video has solved that problem :) .

I am grateful you made this video. I have the DS2 also but wife and I love camping in our travel trailer but been camping at parks. Want to do some dry camping. Both of us have cpap but she also has O2 concentrator. Lately I have been looking at building an overland rig and need enough to last couple days. This really helps put my needs into perspective.
I was recently given a cpap battery by a company in-exchange for a review video. Anyways it got me thinking about how much battery we really need so I put it to the test. What I found is as simple as a cpap with the heat and humidity turned off uses about as much energy as a led lightbulb and with the heat and humidity turned on it uses about as much energy as a incandescent lightbulb. AKA my dreamstation 2 cpap uses about 50Ah over 8 hours with heat and humidity turned off and slightly less then 480Ah over 8 hours with the heat and humidity turned on. So most battery packs costing around a single US dollar per watt hour that it is very expensive to buy a backup for multi night use when you use a CPAP with heat and humidity turned on. I’m not trying to sell the battery I was gifted, it’s just the first store bought one I’ve ever owned. Previous I used my truck battery and then eventually built my own DIY lithium ion battery. Anyways the difference between running a cpap on a battery no heat and humidity vs with heat and humidity for 3 8 hour night is in US dollars is $150 vs $1500. It’s just the reality of current battery prices and is worth thinking about how much power a CPAP uses and What sized battery you should buy?
I think it’s a great idea to have a backup battery. There are so many ways for us to lose power and it’s nice to know we don’t have to worry. My battery doesn’t have a straight forward way to charge it from my car. I tried charging it from the usb c charge port and it is very slow. If a storm or something caused my power to go down for weeks I probably would have to put an inverter on my car and charge my battery with the provided wall wort. My battery says it needs 18-24 volts to charge. I might see if I can find a solar panel to try with it.
With the jackery power bank your paying for an expensive pure sine wave inverter and a built in Solar MPP, and a lot of bells and whistles that you don’t need to run a CPAP. You can get a battery pack like the Dr prepare: 100 amp 1280 watt hr. Which draws the most power in general, the heater in the humidity pan or the heated hose? I can do without the heated tube. Many CPAPs come without the heated hose. However, humidity is more important to me. I just received my Easylonger ES960:yesterday and am testing it out. It is summer here and I really don't need the heated hose so I turned that off. I find my F & P Brevida mask seals well and holds in the moisture so I have humidity still on but down to 1. First night, I got 8:11 hours sleep and it still shows 4 bars. I know the bar scale is rather vague though. Hoping I can get 3-4 nights out of it with that wee bit of humidity. I will be using it when hunting in November so we will see how I do without the heated hose then. Different ball game. Our stove in the outfitter tent needs to st stoked once a night as it gets chilly.. I am also thinking about turning it off during the day to conserve the power used at idle.

Do you or anybody know how much wattage would it be for a Resvent iBreeze BIPAP with heat and humidity? I've been trying to search online for the longest time, but I can't find any information and I live in Puerto Rico. Therefore because of hurricanes and how weak or electric system is I'm trying to invest in buying backup batteries or power stations, but I'm not sure what the overall Wh would be for the type of device.
At 150wh, wouldn't you only need 12.5 Ah for a 12v (in a perfect world)? It feels like you switched from wh to amps for final energy needs. 8x3x60=1440 watts (you say amps) or a 120Ah 12v battery.
In your math .... I think you where switching between amp/hrs and watt/hrs. But your reality test of 40 hrs I think is possible. But .. so confusing ...

I bought a 750 Ah auto battery and a full sine wave inverter so I could run my CPAP by plugging in the 110v cord in. Have not tested it yet.

Have you tried it with only humidity on level 1? To see how much wh it draws,no heated hose

1440 would only require 120 AH battery at 12V
Can you recommend a 200-250+ Wh battery? My criteria are: lightweight (portable), commercially available, cost around $250?
