Sydney Cycling Guide: La Perouse (Sydney cyclists have an unhealthy obsession with this route)

  • La Perouse almost needs no introduction. Most all cycling clubs which operate out of the city and eastern suburbs will have this route as one of their weekly rides. Regardless I know there is many new cyclists who are not part of a club or group rides yet so I thought I would make this guide to showcase the route, some alternatives and also my favourite cafes and bakeries to end the ride at. Hope you enjoy the video, I'm looking to make some more beginner friendly content, so if you have any ideas or suggestions let me know in the comments below, thanks!

    Thank you for showcasing these rides and not gate keeping routes. For cyclists who have no friends to ride with it makes it allot easier to find something different. I recently did the Glenorie loop after watching your video. What a ride! Thank you

    Hi Josh, Megan's dad (Dave Nash) here from Canberra. Thanks for the shout out, greatly appreciated! I really enjoy your videos, they are very informative and entertaining. I like them all, especially the trip to Bundeena and over the ferry, and the tour through Lane Cove National Park. Also the various cafes. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

    Great idea with the public Strava routes! As someone who comes up to Sydney occasionally, this is really helpful to load onto the Garmin.
    Would love a West Head or Alina Bay route from the city or centennial park if you had one!

    LCB (LaPa Containers Beaches) is a weekly staple. If you stick to the coast after Mons, you can include Beach St in Coogee. Short but steep and is a real lung buster if you attack it! Thanks for the video 👍

      @joshkwan  12 днів тому +1

      Yep, if you’re in the eastern suburbs this is defs one of those routes which becomes part of the weekly schedule.

    Hey Josh, great videos and I’ve just stumbled upon your channel. Definitely would love to get into cycling. What is/are some bicycle options you’d recommend? I’m 6ft, 110kg and have a budget of $1500.

    Cheers! Would really love your opinion.

    • @joshkwan
      @joshkwan  8 днів тому +1

      Hey mate, given your weight and budget I would recommend an aluminium bike. You can get a Domane AL 2 or 3 for around $1500 from Trek. Other brands would have a similarly priced option such as the Cannondale CAAD13.
      Alternatively you can scour Facebook Marketplace but I find this can be a bit hit or miss if you don't know what to look out for and also can gauge the wear and tear on drive train components.
      All the best mate
