Thanks a lot. The factory and the site will be expanded in the future. So it still needs to be built for a while. Nevertheless, the first Model Ys are of course already being produced.

Incredible slow progress in comparsion to Texas
Any idea when Texas will supply cars to the public? Berlin has been doing it for months.
Not at all. The major work by far (!) is on the inside, and we really can't compare the two buildings - I for one have no real idea what the real current situation is in either. The ancillary buildings like the water treatment plant were started late, as was the battery plant. Texas is just now starting to build what is reputed to be a cathode plant, for instance - have no idea why a separate structure is necessary for that. Seems no Tesla factory is ever finally, fully and completely done, which is a very good thing.
The downside? They should have foreseen the constant change process, and should have designed and built structures capable of accommodating that change with far greater ease. The Shanghai expansion, for instance, seems painfully complex, messy and expensive.
Just look at the battery factory. Texas was dine in one month

Yeah and the Berlin factory has so many ancillary systems and buildings scattered all over the place. There must be a ton of German/European regulations saying this and that have to be in a separate area/structure
Wish I had bought more Tesla stock in 2015, and waited to buy the X model in 2022. With sale of some stock in Nov. 2021.

Only black and white Model Ys are currently being produced. Hopefully the other colors will follow soon.
Quite a few scrapped bodies at this point. Might have some more machinery adjusting to do. At Giga Texas, they are going to build cars with metal floors and structural battery pack floors. It will be interesting to see how that works out as well.
At the beginning of production it is certainly quite normal. The machines have to be adjusted and the processes coordinated.

Am Komponentenwerk steht ein 8 Achsen Super Gittermast Mobilkran. So einen Aufwand benötigt man eben, wenn man auf einem so großen Dach mit der Tiefe unbedingt punktgenau die RLT Anlagen und relativ kleine US Klimageräte verbauen möchte. Das ist nicht nur jetzt sehr aufwendig, das wird über die Zeit noch viel Geld kosten. Die Wartung und Instandsetzung wird Unsummen und viel Zeit verschlingen, nur weil man auf dem Dach mit keinen anderen Mitteln arbeiten kann, als mit der augwendigen Krantechnik, die wohl Minimum jedes Mal 10.000 € am Tag kosten wird. Einmal eine korrekte Kranbahn installiert, einen Lastenaufzug bis zum Dach errichtet und schon hätte man sich das gespart oder gleich ein Extra Gebäude errichtet, ähnlich der Energiezentrale. In Shanghai wurde beides gemacht , aber die haben auch genug Arbeiter, die das Zeug mit hundert Händen über das frische Dach ziehen. Ägyptische Baumethode sage ich dazu. Okay, auch wir müssen ab und an so arbeiten, weil eben Planer und Architekten mehrheitlich einfach nur Idi..... sind. Im Zellenwerk hat man die Holzkisten im Erdgeschoss ausgepackt. Da man leider kein Untergeschoss mit einer richtigen Höhe hat ( 5 bis 6 m Raumhöhe) musste man das so machen. Das schaut wie Kessel oder Tanks aus. Man kann im Erdgeschoss mehrere Tanks sehen. Persönlich würde ich das immer in einem Extra Gebäude (Kessel.- und Tankhaus) machen oder in einem Untergeschoss (anderer Brandabschnitt) . keine Ahnung welche Chemikalien da verwendet werden und wie aufwendig die Be.- und Entlüftung und der Brandschutz ist.
Ansonsten meine ich, dass die Oberbauleitung bei mehreren Abschnitten leicht die Kontrolle verloren hat, aber das wird wohl bei so einer Mega Baustelle immer irgendwann passieren. Die Gründung (Pfähle) des neuen Presswerks geht nicht los, liegt dazu noch keine Genehmigung vor? Die Pfähle reichen nicht ins Grundwasser, wenn, dann nur ins Oberflächenwasser. Am Versickerungsgraben entlang der BAB kann man sehen, dass das Oberflächenwasser mindestens 4 m unter dem Straßenniveau liegt. Bei uns in Wendenschloß liegt es bei 1,2 bis 2 m

Great information thanks. !0,000 Euro could be the profit on 1 car, so Tesla will survive the inefficiency financially. The drive unit building has been completely changed since the original plan.
Surprised that GB does not have a nice designated place to pick-up new MYs. GT & GS have well marked areas for trailers to pickup cars.
Any idea as to how many cars are they building now per month?

The guys do a great job but get a grip. Try looking at Texas that is filmed daily. When Shanghai eventually comes out of lockdown you will see Wu Wa put out daily videos also.

The Germans have really stuffed this whole site IMHO. How does the battery get to the Major Assembly and the same for the Drive Train. Are they going to be forked onto trucks and driven across the site to be unloaded. A Tesla factory is supposed to be, in Elons words.... the machine that builds the machine. This is nothing like Shanghai and Texas. Its going to be very embarrassing for Germany when the production for all 3 Giga are all ramped and compared.

Mit LKW würde man das in den USA machen, wo die Peinlichkeit der Unproduktivität zu Hause ist, weshalb ihr ja auch nur 14% Industrie habt ( Anteil am BIP) und wir halt 22% !! Einem Spitzenwert, den nur (man staune) die Schweiz, Singapur und Japan in ähnlicher wiese haben. Rot China, diese Möchtegern "Industrie" kann vor allem billiges wertloses Zeug fertigen. Shanghai versagt zur Zeit der GF Grünheide die Akkus! Danke Shanghai, darauf habe ich gesetzt, das Shanghai am meisten über die GF Grünheide unerfreut sein wird, welche die mit Abstand produktivste Fabrik von Tesla weltweit werden wird. 2 Mill. Tesla im Jahr 2030 aus Berlin. Davon mehr als 500.000 in oberen Preissegment. Man stelle sich vor, das Modell S und X kämen aus Berlin, dann wäre Tesla auf Jahrzehnte ausverkauft bei durchgehend 100.000 Stück ( Ausstoß p.A.)
That's exactly the plan... The two buildings will be connected to each other.
If you look at the Fremont site, you will see overhead structures that are sure to contain conveyor mechanisms. Likely they will assemble the battery structural assembly and attach the conveyor to the structural attachments where the castings would mount to minimize the conveyor mechanism. Advantages of building a separate structure for the battery manufacturing are; in case of fire, the main plant is isolated, when new technology arises, a new separate building suited to the new tech can be built without disrupting existing processes. Note the concrete mount points high up the side of the battery building for the attachment of a bridge.

Maler im Sinne von Künstler oder Handwerker? Bei letzteren wäre ich mir nicht so sicher. Aber vermutlich hat das auch keine hohe Priorität für Tesla.
Es gab aber einen Wettbewerb von Tesla für die Gestaltung der Treppenhäuser. Es kann also gut sein, dass die Entwürfe für die weiteren Treppenhäuser schon feststehen.

Much smaller roof area and crowded roof equipment I think.
There are some single lines of solar and then a wide gap in between.
We have a shortage of solar modules in Germany, which also affects Giga Berlin. In Berlin, a complete solar roof covering is also planned, at least where it is possible, because unlike Texas, Berlin still has a large amount of daylight roof hatches.
Stimmt, so scheiße dämlich wie in Austin wird in Grünheide niemand PV Module verlegen. Nur damit die Flugzeuge den Schriftzug Tesla gut lesen können und es schön anschaut, werden alle PV Module nur nach Westen ausgerichtet. Teilweise mit einer Verschattung, die die ganze Reihe (String) abschalten wird. Austin verwendet Q-Cells und in Grünheide sagt Tobi wird FS (Dünnschicht) verwendet. Die Ostreihe steht schon, die Westseite liegt da. Wenn man genau hinschaut kann man sehen, das noch keine DC Kabel verlegt wurden. Warum in Grünheide Dünnschicht von First Solar kann ich nicht sagen. Es herrschst in Europa ein extremer Mangel an PV Material. Selbst die SMA hat wieder mal große Lieferschwierigkeiten, also ist wie seit 2006 immer falsch aufgestellt.
In der GF Berlin, werden Ost/West Anlagen mit einer Neigung von ca. 10° aufgestellt. Bei den aktuellen Strompreisen und dem Strombedarf, wird Tesla alle Dächer voll machen. Die Zellenfabrik ist aber schon beantragt, mit X MWp . Der Arbeitspreis liegt ca. bei 10,5 Cent je kWh . Der Preis je kWh aus PV werden bei Tesla unter 5 Cent liegen. Da Tesla nicht nur im Werk selbst Unmengen Strom benötigt und sicher Strom Poolverträge haben wird, kann die PV Anlage gar nicht zu groß sein.
Nur Akkus der Autos pro Trag: 2.500 Stück * 25 kWh = 50.000 kWh am Tag = 50 MWh Dazu benötigt man schon einige MWp PV, um das zu ernten.
I don't understand why Giga Texas is just one huge building and Giga Berlin is a big "messy" site with a lot of small buildings and structures all over the place.
This can be due to a variety of reasons, ranging from simple planning issues that Berlin wanted to organise differently, to building regulations that do not allow so many different products in one building due to fire protection etc.
Personally, I think it's the building regulations, because I plan buildings myself and certain things simply have to be adhered to.
Don't worry. Texas is adding other buildings now, like the Cathode plant. They are also going to revamp the substation and plan to add other buildings. It's great that Tesla adapts to local requirements and experiments with different techniques.
Im Sure it is of the Regulations for Fire Protection in Germany. In an Case accident so only the cell Building Burn down the Drive Unit und Battery pack und Production Building will be Safe.

You will be pleased to know that three times this area has been planted in biodiverse woodland. The area cut down for this factory was pine planted to cull for cardboard.

more Norway maple (which coped better with the dry conditions)
and a little less pine and sessile oak. This results in a
