Kickstart looks dope, another way I do sidechain especially in FL Studio is the FL Peak Controller... very simple and effective way

By the way, when you set "Sodechainto this track" - there is round button like a volume of this effect?
I mean, when you do it - it looks like it is inactive, because it's the same picture of a button like at chanel effects rack.
Or it should be that way?

I'm still trying to figure out why some people are putting a separate Sidechain channel into the mixer into of sidechaining the kick to another instrument.

so like if there are multiple kicks in a proj, and the bass is below many of em, do I hv to sidechain every kick to it ?
well I suggest go check it out LFO TOOL by xfer
its pretty much like KICKSTART but you have more controls to it.
the only things kickstart sucks about is you have to automate the mix to 0% when you don't want a sidechain, and you can only have straight forward beats with no kick/snare diversion.
If they allowed you to link it to the kick track then it would be perfect
Hi! You can trigger Kickstart in any pattern via MIDI. Hit the big "cog" icon to access the Advanced Settings, then select the "1-Shot" mode. Route MIDI to Kickstart and it'll react to the pattern you program.

i think timeshaper does this and alot more....its not really considered a compressor though but it appears 2 do the same. hard 2 say 4 me i never really use compression on like alot of hi-end sounds

Why is thing thing called sidechain if it's LFO volume automation. Sidechain would be if sound from one channel affects function of plugin on other channel (like compressor or dynamic eq) Yeah I know they have similar purpose but still…

Love ur vids, bro. I’ve been making beats for 10+ years, but I’m just now getting into the real details of it all.
1 quick question - when bouncing the tracks of your beats, do you remove the sidechains from the individual tracks or do you keep them?
For example- my kick is sidechained to an 808. When I solo the kick channel, I get the kick AND the 808. Before bouncing, do I remove this sidechain so that it only gets the kick? This would make sense, but also it would destroy the mix as I had it.
Input from anyone would be much appreciated.
Best option to keep the song as close as possible to the way you want it would be to find a way to record the bass side chaining to the kick and bounce that audio instead of taking the side chain off. It could be simply creating an aux track and having it receive input from the bass track that's being side chained. That way you can still bounce stems and also keep the mix in place.
