Props to your video editor. Great tutorial, great lesson in music theory. Easy to understand, and you even explained the legalities. Great job, and thank you for keeping it real.
This man has to be THE GREATEST PRODUCER/INFLUENCER out there in the game. I, as always, GREATLY APPRECIATE u for ALL you do and give to us upcoming producers
I passed over watching this joint like 3 times before I finally watched it. Thanks Curtis! You should've named this joint "Midi-file Magic." Ok nvm we can stick with what you named it Lol
You can also export and get the midi yourself using things like melodyne. Helpful for when you're working with loops and samples from places like splice, where the midi isn't necessarily available already.
can you talk about what formats we need to have files ready in for our beat store and how to export them? I'm talking like stems, wav files, track outs etc. Also, what do you need to send an artist who's leasing vs buying exclusive? Do they want the mixed version of the track? should it be leveled too?
ChrisReedBeats Ed is breaking bread. Same as Juice Wrld right now for that Shape of My Heart interpolation. You can replay the beat but it still belongs to the original creator. Get permission first or get your pockets busted when it becomes a hit 😩
Curtiss Nice video!! Help at lot bu i still have a question . Like let's say that i try to make at remix at song that the bpm it's very slow like 90 [example] but i have the midi and i try to make pogressive house remix on 128 bpm ? How i can stretch o make to song good at the time i wanne . Because mostly the time i put the bpm on 128 sound very out the time o something very weird ? Any advice ?? Thanks
Selling songs with samples vs replay/cover: Selling songs with samples need permission of the original publisher & pay amount the original publisher is asking for the use the sample. Selling a song that is a replay or cover no permission is needed but must pay the amount that the original publisher is asking. Who pays the original publisher? The simple answer is who ever is making money from selling the song. It used to be producers would sell beats to artists & they would use the budget the label gave them to pay for it & the label would handle clearing the sample. Now with artist & producers selling on their own those lines have blurred.
I have some copyright-related questions regarding using video game themes and songs in your own songs. Can someone refer me to a good forum or video for learning more about what is and what isn't allowed/legal. Thanks!
I can honestly say I learn something valuable every time I watch one if your videos.
Imagine the remixes that are going to be made because of this video 😆👌

I’ve done this with a Kingdom Hearts song and the SSJ3 DBZ theme.
One of the best sauce I discovered on my own
The best way to sample
Piccolo kingdom hearts music is like a grail for sampling man.
GEM!!!
Yeaaaaa, Robin Thicke, Pharell, and also What do you think about Ed Sheeran "Shape of You" and TLC "No Scrubs"? Did you guys hear about that one?

ooouuu bout to sample a whole new world lol
I couldve sworn I heard the ice cream man in the back!! LMAO
Do a tutorial on how to adjust the tempo of midi files please
Midi files are piano roll notes in fl so you would adjust your project bpm to change them. or move the piano roll notes around manually
dawg! thats crazy lol keep eating
Chordify is the real cheat code. Put in a UA-cam link and it gets all the chord notes needed for a midi file.
Damn I agree say no to sampling well unless yall learning hahaha thanks curtiss
Salute!!
Nice
I love you so much 😂😂😂
G funk type beat tutorial plz
I don’t like to sample! But a good mini file work, or slice and create something new out of the sample, if u know what u doing
