Imagine not growing up with this MASTERPIECE 🔥🎬🍿 Uma Thurman & Quentin Tarantino payed homage to multiple films while making their own unique story!
facts. this movie is such a good childhood memory, lol.
Lol. Imagine already being an adult when this first came out 😂
I didn’t, but that’s because I was already an adult when it came out. What I did grow up with, however, was so much of the influences that went into the movie. It really warmed my nerdy heart, and got my pulse racing.
Paid not payed
It's basically the closest thing to a dope live action anime other than the One Piece live action.💯💯😂
The Bride went after O-Ren first because she was going to be the hardest to kill and she needed the element of surprise. Plus the message to the rest of the squad would carry more weight.
Plus, she could get her Hattori Hanzō sword first, since she had a lot of vermin to kill..
Agreed
Yes the Bride all about the element of surprise, showing up at the front door or having her presence publicly announced. They’d never see it coming
Plus the Sophie, ore’s henchmen knew where all the other 5 deadly assassins lived or where they’re. So she needed her to track down the others.
Oren was easier to find cause of her status as a mob boss. And her assistant knows all the location of the other vipers
The Bride and O-ren have a backstory that Quentin ultimately didn't include. The backstory involves them being actual friends, not just colleagues, hence the "silly rabbit" - "trix are for kids exchange). References Beatrix Potter and her creation Peter Rabbit.
Also adds depth to their conversation during the showdown. "You ready?"
Plus O-ren got revenge too. She knows. Their connection was great.
It's also a reference to The Brides name
Kill Bill was originally meant to be one movie, but because of its long run time the studio decided to break it into two volumes. Thats why they releases so close together.
And that’s why killing O-Ren was revealed early in volume 1, because it isn’t truly a “third” or final act.
Yes and no. Tarantino has said that he had to artificially inflate volume II because Harvey Weinstein's greedy ass told him they could make it two movies and make twice as much money. The reason was greed, not run time.
In the Japanese version, the fight at the Blue Leaves is a few minutes longer and entirely in color, since they weren't as worried about censorship of the violence. It explains a few things, like why the teenage Crazy 88 has no mask. The Bride tears it off during the fight, sees he's a kid and throws him away. It's also why she gives him that look before spanking him with the sword, because he didn't learn his lesson the first time.
Weird, because japan is known for their censorship
Censorship is so dumb :/ do you know if these extended scenes were added back in for any of the US blu-ray releases?
@@KrazzeeKane I've tried to see and there was nothing on any of the back covers of the ones I saw which indicated it. I was able to get a copy of a Japanese DVD a while back, which is why I know about it. From what I understand, the alterations to the US version needed to be made in order to avoid an NC-17 rating.
I actually love the different colors in the fight scene.
@@EdertheJust The other color grading is still present. Op is referring to the absence of color, the censored black and white portion, lol.
Kobe said that Kill bill was one of his favorite movies and was inspired to create the alter ego black mamba when he was going through a rough time in his life! Glad you guys caught that with the logo!
The tune Daryl Hannah was whistling is from a 1968 British film called Twisted Nerve composed by Bernard Herrmann who also did music for several Hitchcock films including Psycho.🙂
24:11 "she can't take them all at once...."
Me: Oh boy you have no idea 😂
I was in Film school when this came out, our class went and saw this four times opening week lol we were cheering and gasping outloud and so was the whole theatre it was such a great experience. I still enjoy it each time I watch it.
You have no idea how fun it is to walk through a hospital while whistling "Twisted Nerve." The looks i would get are levels of hilarity.😂
I hope you're having your fun on the hospital, of all places. The place I'm sure people have the sense of humor to put up with your BS
“The Bride” is a character Quentin & Uma created after Pulp Fiction.
You’ll notice the end credits says, “Story Created by Q & U”
Seeing it in the theater was so fun!
i never quite noticed it, but true!
It does not say "Story created by Q & U"
Uma did not create the story at all.
The end credits say "Based on the Character The Bride, created by Q & U"
The Bride was simply a "blood spattered bride", and QT took it from there.
Actually, few People ever notice, but in pulp fiction(about 10 years before this movie) , when Vincent Vega takes his Boss's lady out for dinner, thurmans' character explains about doing a pilot of a show about secret killer agents with cool nicknames. Basically the premise of Kill Bill in a nutshell, only more lighthearted and a sitcom, rather than a movie. I find that fascinating. There are too many similarities for it to be sheer coincidence. It's crazy that Uma is thé one to explain the plot and to be acting the lead in this 10 years later. The craziest part is Tarantino must already have had some idea of the plot for this movie, 10 years before he actually made it, at a point in his career he was still up and coming, had made 1 critically acclaimed movie, and just made pulp fiction that could'of been a hit (which it obviously was) or miss (that could've destroyed his career before it really took off).
It's so interesting to see how young Gen Z kids react to "older" movies.
This movie will forever be iconic
I remember being in the cinema, when Bill reveals that her daughter is alive, I can still hear the cinema erupt. It was one of the best and definitely Tarantino's best at the time.
The Bride is a character created by Tarantino and Uma Thurman.
Your "GRANDPARENTS" had a copy?!
F*** I feel old. 😂😂😂
Haha, my grandparents died about 40 years before this came out.. i am old!
Ditto
😂😂 same here my friend.
My parents did... and then I did. I'm not young but I'm not old. Almost 30 lol so I'm assuming these guys are early 20s?
Right? I feel like I’m doing something illegal by even watching these two talk.
Fun fact I found out later: O Ren she says that Uma may not last five minutes. She managed to kill her in 4:59 minutes!
Yuen Wo Ping did martial arts choreography. He also did the Matrix, Hero, Kung Fu Hustle, Unleashed, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dagger, House of Flying Daggers and more Chinese films than you can shake a stick at.
Jesus, those are all the best ones!
@@DanYeLL2003 Yuen Woo Ping is an absolute cinema legend and he is not just an martial artist who does choreographer. He is also a director and he directed the first couple Jackie Chan movies that made him famous in the 70s. He directed 30 movies, did martial arts and stunt choreography in 76(!) and played roles in 71 according to IMDB.
A absolute legend.
Hidden *Dragon*
But yeah, I love all those movies!
Iron Monkey in another favorite!
No matter how my day is going-- watching Cam and Zay react to a film always makes it better. You guys are awesome.
What a treat to find this! Can’t wait to watch your reactions.
Agreed 🤝
Sonny Chiba who played Hattori Hazno is the father of Mackenyu Arata who play Roronora Zorro in NetFlix's live action adaptation of One Piece. +
YES!!
The fight scene with The Bride and The Crazy 88's is my favorite part of the movie!
If we didn't see her cross off O-Ren's name, the audience would think "the Bride" wiggled her toe and then pulled up at Vernita's house soon after.
Movie has a nonlinear narrative; "Copperhead", the second target, is crossed off the death list approximately 12 minutes into the film; "Cottonmouth", the first name is crossed off at about one hour and twenty minutes; finally we see the death list being constructed on the plane to Tokyo. Interestingly, we don't see that list in Volume 2 at all.
“She can’t take ‘em all on one by one” honey have I got news for you
Uma Thurman is an exceptionally talented actress, and she delivers a commanding and captivating portrayal of The Bride, balancing vulnerability with steely determination. It's all in her attitude, her eyes, the way she smiles, even when it hurts. Thanxxx for your amazingly wonderful reactions by the way. Absolutely Fabulous! Such a treat... 😎🖤👍
Your reaction to the final line about the daughter is how it was with the crowded theater. The music really adds to it. I still get chills.
O-Ren was way more than scalped...scalping is cutting off the hair and scalp and leaving the skull intact...Uma's character cut the top of O-Ren's skull in one clean stroke. 😁
Yep. It's called Cranial Avulsion.
An actress from the 50's/60's, Jayne Mansfield, died the same way. She was in a car that rear-ended a truck, and the top of the car was sheared back. It took the top of her skull off. There was a long standing urban legend that Mansfield was decapitated, but the man who embalmed her confirmed that it was cranial avulsion.
@@jenniferrodgers57 Wow...that is an amazing bit of information...and the actual technical name of what was done...thank you for commenting.💯
In my opinion, THIS is Tarantino's masterpiece. Most say Pulp Fiction. Nah, THIS. There will never be a better ode to the old Kung Fu genre.
Nowhere near Pulp Fiction.
If this is his masterpiece then u have a lot of growing up to do 😂 or ur IQ is below 100
Ppl with a low IQ level don't have a opinion & ur literally one of those because facts are just facts & facts make opinions completely irrelevant 😂 this movie doesn't even come close to Pulp Fiction 😂 simple kid minds need to stay TF outta grown folks business 😂
Don't know if you noticed that when the bride wakes up her heart monitor speed up and when she lays back down she slows her heart rate before Buck walks in. It's a very cool detail.
The thing I love about this movie is that one Uma Thurman did all her own stunts
No she didn't, Zoe Bell is her stunt
Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are very different movies, but equally excellent. It was probably for the best that the story was split in this way - great stuff.
They are. Part 2 slows down and has more character focus, but it's still good. I like Part 1 better personally, but as a whole Kill Bill is iconic Tarantino.
Part 2 is more aligned with Tarantino's usual storytelling. Part 1 is just him letting loose in candy land, lol
@@slightlySuperior Not true. It was split for greed. Tarantino is on record about this. He said Harvey Weinstein convinced him to make it into two movies, quoting, "we can make twice as much money on this!" So, no, it wasn't about runtime, it was about greed. Tarantino also said he was forced to inflate the script for volume II.
Tarantino got the inspiration for the fight scene with O-Ren from the Japanese film Lady Snowblood. He even used the song (The Flower Of Carnage) from the original soundtrack of the movie. It's an amazing film. You should check it out.
seconded! Really most fans would appreciate it, these two would be thrilled
Now, imagine some of us had to wait a year to see Vol. 2.
The actress who played Gogo was also in "Battle Royale," which is like a no-frills Japanese Hunger Games. Would make a good reaction!
You didn’t have to wait a year. Volume 2 was released six months after Volume 1.
I absolutely love Battle Royale it is such a incredible movie.
Kobe 100% appropriated Black Mamba from the film. It's always bugged me that next to no hoop fans know about it - they think he made it up himself. Every time I've heard "Mamba Mentality" over the last two decades, I immediately think "Uma Mentality" 😂
The master swordsmith is played by ‘70s martial arts superstar Shin-Ichi Chiba (aka Sonny Chiba, “The Street Fighter”). I love the esoteric use of music on the soundtrack: Al Hirt’s theme for “The Green Hornet” and Quincy Jones’ theme for “Ironside.”
When Sonny Chiba (Hattori Hanzo) was teaching Uma Thurman the sword he was almost scared of how good she became. I used to dream I was Black Mamba slicing everyone up with my sword.😂😂
I watched this movie with my mom before she passed. After that, my dad and I watched Volume II. This movie is so iconic and holds a special place in my heart now.
Saw this as a middle schooler w/ my mom at a hotel. Always remember laughing my ass off at the first blood fountain.
Chiaki Kuriyama, who played the character Gogo Yubari in "Kill Bill: Volume 1." Gogo is a young and deadly Japanese schoolgirl who wields a meteor hammer, a chain and ball weapon. Chiaki Kuriyama also appeared in the Japanese film "Battle Royale," where her character, Takako Chigusa, wore a yellow tracksuit similar to the one worn by Uma Thurman's character, The Bride, in "Kill Bill." The yellow jumpsuit in both cases pays homage to Bruce Lee's iconic outfit in "Game of Death."
Someone else mentioned the cut backstory between ORen and the Bride, but perhaps another reason for the out-of-order chapters is that the giant showdown at Blue Leaves is much more fitting for the end than the more personal in-home fight at the start.
I saw this at the theater and was initially underwhelmed; but upon seeing it with Vol2 it became (and still is) one of my favorite movies ever. They work so much better as a whole, IMO of course.
Glad you guys witnessed one of the greatest films EVER made.
Seeing them back to back, I understand. BUT the filmmakers themselves didn’t seem to think so. We waited for half a year for Vol. 2.
31:34 "... leave the limbs you've lost. They belong to me now."
- The Bride, and previously, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Edit. You could say the last thing to go O-Ren's "mind" was _Hattori Hanzo_ steel.
One of my favorite little details is the box of cereal's brand name is 'Kaboom'
I’m so glad you both loved this one! I love your surprise at the end! It made me giggle with joy 😁
22:07 Kobe actually chose the nickname Black Mamba allegedly after watching Kill Bill!
Cam&Zay: She can't take them all on at once
Uma Thurman: Hold my beer
CORRECTION: "Hold my saké!"
Hold my Hanzo!
For both of you two being so young , you both are very professional and in your reactions and analysis of the movie . Love that you give a movie rating BUT MOST of all , I truly appreciate you let one talk uninterrupted to get his point then give the other a turn! “ subscribed “. Wish you the best . And yes this movie is American classic ! Great reaction !!!
A masterpiece and such a good reaction glad you guys enjoyed 🎉
8:05 your faces! That was hysterical!! lol! Love the reaction! Tarantino does love earth grabbers!
"My grandparents always had a copy of Kill Bill"" is so funny 😂
I think what you missed is that O-Ren couldn't be the first fight we see, since it was obviously more epic; but O-Ren was probably first on the list because she was in Japan, and the bride happened to be there, to get her sword made. other than hiding her name on the list, there was really no better way to approach this dilemma
I agree only in epicness of it all. Japan or no Japan it didn't not matter, she was going to kill her 1st since this was the only target she knew were to find. Then the secretary gave the rest of the location for the other targets.
My hot take: Tarantino doesn't actually legitimately have a foot fetish. He included some shots in some early films and people ran with the rumor. And him being who he is, he leaned into the persona as being in on the joke.
He wrote himself into From Dusk Till Dawn and had Selma Hayek do a sexy striptease and finish off with her putting her toes in his mouth.
The foot fetish is almost certainly very real.
He literally admitted to it on the Tyra Banks show
@@Femmefatale1990 Which would also fit with him being amused by the idea
I still remember seeing this in the theater and my mind blowing up when Bill revealed the child was still alive. Good memories.
Haha. The way Zay’s mouth opened and voice went up “ it has an upgrade mode ?!!!” 🤣😂🤣
Great eye on the Kobe Bryant logo. I never heard anyone mention that before.
R.I.P. Black Mamba
The scene of fighting with Lucy Liu in the snow and that BGM was a beautiful scene of Heaven and Hell. It’s legendary ❤
17:06 I think that was suppose to be a young version of Bill… which is why he ended up having O-ren apart of his squad… he already knew her and her story -- because he help create her, as an assassin 😮
32:16: more like she’s John’s Aunt… Auntie Mamba… lol The Bride Hacked and Slashed so that John Wick could shoot! Lol
Oh wow, interesting theory...would make sense
" She can't take them all on at once" haha. So cute
They found a new species of bird in Hawaii about a year ago. Its called the Ohno bird.
Its a very interesting species as its the only one with 3 inch testicles and two inch legs.
Every time it goes to land it goes, " Oh no Oh no!!!"😂
I cannot believe it took you lads this long to find this. Get onto Volume two toot-sweet.
This was released a few days after starting my freshman year of college back in 03. Was so upset about the film split because it was supposed to be released as one whole film but the producer wanted Tarantino to split them and vol 2 was released in theaters 6 months later. Rza of the Wu-Tang Clan is the composer for the films
THIS was the comment i was looking for. was gonna drop the 411 myself if no 1 else had already.
YES, the score! 🙌🏼 .....shout out to RZA. legend!
When it comes to this show-my bf knows to throw chocolate at me and leave me lol
I like the fight between the bride and Vivica Fox’s character (Copperhead) too.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 yalls faces when Uma was shot at and threw that knife, everything happened so fast
great reaction, can't wait for part 2...on a side note, technically wouldn't John Wick be the Black Mamba of Men since this came out a decade before? 😁
"Yeah..."
She doesn't need a gun.
Don’t forget to read the bottom of Umas shoes when she walks across the glass floor…lol.
Your facial expressions have to be some of the best in a reaction videos on youtube guys! I just love watching the way both of you get into a good movie and this has to be one your best reactions yet! keep up the great work guys love your content! From a Scottish fan lol!
Imagine what it was like a) seeing this in the cinema, but b) being left hanging on that cliffhanger for what felt like absolutely forever!
These are masterpieces of film. He is a genius. Everything is so well done & chosen esp the music.
Written by both he and Uma…
Imagine some stranger tries to rob Vernita's home
Your reaction was everything I wanted it to be. Imagine having to wait a year for the second one to come out after that huge reveal ending!!
Volume 2 was released 6 months after Volume 1.
*The O-ren fight music is: **_"DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD" (1979)_** BY SANTA ESMERALDA* They're an American-French band w/ cover of 1960s hit by The Animals.... *BEST UA-cam VERSION IS THE PHILIPS ALBUM COVER VERSION THAT IS ALMOST **16:00** LONG*

Foot shots.
This was Tarantino’s superhero film. And Uma as The Bride.
The music you hear right before she breaks is the theme song from Ironsides by Quincy Jones starring Raymond Burr. Yes, I’m that old 😂
oh my gosh
i’m in vacation, and this day turned out SO MUCH BETTER having cam and zay react to kill bill….. PLEASE do vol. 2 as well, it’s equally amazing….. this one is better i think (slightly) especially the crazy 88’s….. and the fight with Lucy Liu is AMAZING……. Quentin is phenomenal , my favorite director, you guys need to watch more of his films too, for christ sakes…..
LOVE YOU GUYS ✌🏼🫶🏼
This was so nostalgic! It blew me away when it first came out, so cool to watch you guys experience that.
30:57 - The guy she's fighting here is the famous, legendary kung fu actor, Gordon Liu (aka Lau Ga Fai) who is the immortal "Master Killer" from the iconic Hong Kong cinema film, "36th Chamber of Shaolin". Gordon Liu also plays another character in the Kill Bill Vol 2. He play Pak Mei aka, the White Browed Priest (hence where I get my UA-cam handle from, lol). He unfortunately, suffered a major stroke just a few years after the making of this movie, and he can no longer practice Kung fu, or act. It's actually a pretty tragic story behind all that too. Just Google it and you'll see what I mean.
Yes! You must watch and react to Vol. 2 at your earliest convenience! Is much better to watch them back to back if you can!
Yeah I love this movie, but I honestly love the second one more for the acting chops, and the dialogue. Much less actiony than this movie, but just as riveting. Well the movie was billed as Part 1, so we knew there would be a part 2, so the starting the movie with copperhead didn't take anything away, it added style.
The iconic yellow track suit is a tribute, to Bruce Lee " Game of Death" the follow up to "Enter the Dragon". He died in middle of filming. There is around 25 minutes of footage, Bruce has to infiltrate a tower, and each level he encounters a martial art Master..and Kareem Abdul Jabar, Bruce's real life Student, appears. But the yellow suit is what Bruce wears.
Good to see you guys again!! 20k subs! Holy shit!
Out of all the reactions that I've watched on Kill Bill, yours is my favorite to watch. You didn't cut out or talk over key parts of the scene, didn't blur. Thumbs up. Some scenes I wish were included, but overall enjoyed it. 👍👍
this is the john wick before there was a john wick
seriously, theres so many similarities between the 2
im glad these 2 young lads are experiencing classics instead of sufficing with tiktok
Glad you two reacted to this awesome movie! Nice break down. Can not wait till 2. You both are cool.

"What's her game plan? She can't take them all out at once"
.. wait😈
Seems like for the next volume, the antagonist should get top Billing. Get it? Billing? 🤣
My wife worked in Hollywood for 15 years managing the largest catering company in LA. She's met everyone.
"Well she's a black mama" lmaooo 😂😂
Yes!!!!! I’ve been missing you boys 😊 🏴
6:02: at the moment… Copperhead knew she fcuked up! Also: that is also the exact illustration of what “on-site” truly is…😂
9.6, good rating. Excellent movie. When I first saw it, like you I wondered why they showed O Ren's name crossed out. When I saw the end, I realized the twist was that it wasn't if she was going to die, but how she was going to die. From start to finish, this movie keeps you guessing and brings you into each scene. Great reaction guys.
Merry Christmas Cam & Zay
Yall 2 are AWESOME!! Such a pleasant channel that I’ll definitely be watching 👍
First time watching a reaction from this channel - great job! I appreciated the intro where you talked about what you knew about it going in. It made me excited for you, knowing how much a Tarantino fan would enjoy this one. Looking forward to part 2 :)
First video I’ve watched of you guys and I loved your commentary/reactions to all the best parts! Tarantino is my favorite director and this movie is top 5 so I thoroughly enjoyed this. Will def check out more of your videos. Keep it up!
Black Mamba vs Cottonmouth is my favorite sequence given the entire 10 chapter story ad context
Quentin Tarantino films r so phenomenal I love how he put that 70s style grindhouse feel to them. So Im sure now u know my favs like "Death Proof", "Planet Terror", "Machete", "From Dusk Til Dawn", "Sin City" and Kill Bill films. Glad u enjoyed it, I know I did. Thanx so much, take care guys, Peace

Love your review. Look forward to seeing your reaction to vol. 2.
The actor that was Hittori Hanso was Sonny Chiba, an iconic martial artist/actor from my childhood. I used to love the asian fight movies from the 60's forward, Sonny Chiba and Sammo Hung were the ish.
