please do keep making videos of small handhelds also! The big expensive ones are neat but half the charm is carrying a simpler smaller device with you anywhere.
If you look at the back catalogue of videos, there's no real fear Russ would lose interest in the more basic and the more portable devices. :) Of course with the Miyoo Mini Plus, we already have _the_ device for you vertical handheld needs. (Okay, they could make a Miyoo Maxi or Miyoo Mini Super Plus about the size of a DMG. I hope they don't, as I'd need to order one.)
@@mcgritty8842 Of course we don't need that many. But they will continue to make more of these, as long as they'll sell plenty of them. I think Russ should keep updated charts for different form factors/price points/emulation capability. Pretty sure _this_ sector is currently being served very well with the Miyoo mini Plus (and for some, the Anbernic RG 35XX), so hopefully they'll keep being produced.
I actually got my transparent black miyoo mini+ in the mail yesterday, and on my birthday no less! It’s pretty amazing you can actually play with other people using retroarch, though I may need to introduce retro handhelds to friends just to want a player 2 for these games.
Honestly if you want multiplayer it's probably better to do it on a TV. If you don't have a PC you can also just use an android device or something or even your phone and some wireless controllers. It's a neat feature, but unless you have some kids who like to play with each other (or if he/she has a friend that also has this device), I don't think there's all that much use for multiplayer on these systems. At least practical usage. Of course if you really just want multiplayer on this device and have someone who wants to do ut with you, you can also use this.
What would be really cool, is PS1 emulation of the link cable (if you had, on the day, 2 PlayStation, 2 television sets and that Link cable, you could play against someone and have dedicated tv for each, no splitscreen needed), so that each player looks at his handheld as he looked at his own TV... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Link_Cable. Wipeout, someone?
Three things. 1) I truly appreciate your honesty and integrity, not to mention your expertise. We’ve purchased a Miyoo Mini and two Pluses and successfully loaded them because of your channel. 2) We definitely intend to try two player mode. 3) And I apologize if I missed the answer, but will two player mode work on Atari 2600 games, like Combat?

Speaking of cheaper options, how about a return to the topic of turning old phones into dedicated emulators, and specifically investigating some of the currently available controllers from a emulation/retro perspective? There are all sorts controllers (telescopic/nontelescopic, bluetooth/usb-c) available at different price points and it'd be nice to see them evaluated specifically from that angle and seeing the lower end ones stacked up against the Razers, Backbones and GameSirs.

It took about three months till I got my Miyoo Mini Plus from KeepRetro, I was annoyed with how long it took. However, they kept their website up to date and informed their clients of when to expect shipments to happen. So take it as a grain of salt.
I missed the boat on the first miyoo mini sadly but I'm happy with the miyoo plus and it shipped fast. Thought i'd never get one of these handhelds haha. I used the affiliate link, Thanks Russ!
I pre-ordered my Miyoo-Mini Plus using your Keepretro link on the day it was available in February, I was on the first batch. 2 months after it still hadn't shipped, but it was announced as in stock in their store and people from later batches had received. So I e-mailed them and they told me that they didn't ship because they didn't have purple, then I asked them to ship the grey and instead they refunded me. Paypal notified me that I was refunded but 3 weeks after it I still haven't received it on my credit card. I probably will receive it 2 months from now, but I doubt I will receive anywhere close to what I paid because I will have to pay expensive currency conversion fees twice and my currency valued compared to USD. I never intended to borrow them my money for 5 months with negative interest rates, I wanted the Miyoo, so I definitely think you have more to discuss with them before you can keep recommending them.
I got the Miyoo Mini Plus as an impluse buy, but dang if I don't really like it. Putting Onion OS just elevates it to another level. I love that you can just switch games on the fly. Now to find friends to do multiplayer with! ;)
Thanks, Figure 8 isn’t my favorite album (I think that would probably be New Moon if that counts, or S/T), but it has the nicest art thanks to that wall 😊
@@R.I.P._A.N.D._T.E.A.R. I appreciate the concern, but that's just a local IP address, when you see 192.168.86.XX like that it just means the locally-assigned serialized address from your router. If someone else were to connect their Miyoo Mini to their own router, it would be the same 192.168.86.XX structure. The real IP address, the one you wouldn't want to show to the public, is the one assigned from the ISP to the router/household.
This thing looks like it would be cheaper due to it's size but it's not, because of the large aftermarket support. I've looked into getting one before, but it doesn't look that comfortable for me to justify the purchase. Looks really nice though. I like the vertical look, I found all thee retro handheld youtubers looking for one. When I was a kid, in between that period before the dmg (couldn't find one anywhere) and the pocket, I think I even called nintendo a few times from the toilet like, "where's the new gameboy you guys want my money or nah" And then I got this glorious transparent yellow vomit thing. I loved that thing. I can defintiely remember playing games to street lights passing by.
Final Burn Neo should always be the first choice for arcade emulation. Unlike MAME, there is dedicated support for playing every ROM (whereas MAME is a generic system for preserving games that doesn’t focus on playability). As long as you’re playing pre-3D arcade games, FBN usually supports them.
While it does look white in the video the purple RG35XX I have (newer version with 2600mah battery) has a cream-coloured PCB. A golden hdmi out is also a nice touch. It makes it look quite a bit warmer and it ended up being my fav color out of the three
I am still kicking myself in the rear for sticking with my "retro grey" version when Keepretro was offering to switch people to the white model which would have shipped sooner. If I had any idea what the "retro [chain smoker] grey" was going to look like in person, I would have jumped on that white one in a second. Even if it took longer to ship. ah wel. I will trade you for your white... lol
KeepRetro dragged their feet responding to me, told me they'd send me a new screen even though I told them the issue I was having with my purple MM+ was software related (flashing black screen). Swapping the screen didn't fix it, and they offered to sell me an additional console for $40. After I refused, they said there was nothing else they could do so I had to open a paypal claim. They fought the claim and Paypal closed it in their favor since all they had to do was upload the tracking showing the item was delivered. So now I got a 70 dollar paperweight. I'd stay away from them.
One of the best vids on your channel. I'm so glad you told us about not being able to trade pokemon, I wander if there is any hack to do so? Also such a cool thing to do regards keep retro policies
Great video as always friend. Something that be awesome to learn more about is how saves such as RAM and States get affected by multiplayer sessions? Will this overwrite my offline game session with what ever was played during multiplayer? Perhaps there will be a separate save file reserved for multiplayer only, etc..? Also which emulator cores are the safest bet for compatibility and do each console system need to be kept in mind for various save settings? Again, I'd appreciate a video guide where this can be referenced for whenever we need an answer about saves in multiplayer sessions :)
There is an easier way to enable local wifi multiplayer - go to the game and highlight it then press Y to load up extra options (similar to when scraping) and then enable Easy Wifi Multiplayer which does the same as described in this video with one button press.

@@RetroGameCorps I can only think of John Luke ... You definitely missed him.
Has anyone had any Pokémon Wi-Fi battles? 👀
You guys have the most detailed review videos on UA-cam. Here, take my Subs.
I got the Miyoo Mini Plus as an impluse buy, but dang if I don't really like it. Putting Onion OS just elevates it to another level. I love that you can just switch games on the fly.
Now to find friends to do multiplayer with! ;)
Loving the Elliott Smith shirt. I had forgotten the Mini Plus even had netplay, this will be fun to get set up. Cheers, Russ!
Thanks, Figure 8 isn’t my favorite album (I think that would probably be New Moon if that counts, or S/T), but it has the nicest art thanks to that wall 😊
@Retro Game Corps hey bro. 13:13 you leaked your IP address, I suggest you censor it...
Retro Game Corps oh ok. 👌 Just making sure you didn't leak your ip address
Super excited for this. Thanks for the break down. Also appreciate your addressing the KeepRetro policies situation. You rock!
4:20 Good looking out Russ. You're a good dude.
What a time to be alive
Not all heroes wear capes. Russ is one of them.
Final Burn Neo takes up more resources on Miyoo Mini. I use that as 2nd option. With a more powerful handheld it's a great option.
@@SRC267 is hbmame supported for this/similar devices?
Russ is truly a man of the people
While it does look white in the video the purple RG35XX I have (newer version with 2600mah battery) has a cream-coloured PCB. A golden hdmi out is also a nice touch. It makes it look quite a bit warmer and it ended up being my fav color out of the three
Call out jays 2 cents about scorched earth reactions. Lol
i was just looking into this a few day ago thank you!
you have ... friends with VERY SAME handheld, very same OS, very same RETROgame interest?
That's great customer service. Just the fact the listen Is amazing!
This is a game changer! A huge selling point imo
I am still kicking myself in the rear for sticking with my "retro grey" version when Keepretro was offering to switch people to the white model which would have shipped sooner. If I had any idea what the "retro [chain smoker] grey" was going to look like in person, I would have jumped on that white one in a second. Even if it took longer to ship.
ah wel.
I will trade you for your white... lol
Love the retro gray color!
Nice shirt. Your credibility has improved even further than great.
I really like the burgandy buttons with the clear purple, Im gonna do that with my RP3+
I'd stay away from them.
when did you buy it?
You haven't reached a dead end just yet. Dispute it with your credit card company. It helps to have a good company to have your back such as AMEX.
That's so cool feature. Ninja Turtles would also be a cool game to play in 4 player mode
Miyoo mini plus is my go too for retro gba/gb/gbc and some ps1 also that onion os is so 🔥🔥
This video is amazing! I was wondering if there is a list for all the multiplayer games that can played between two Miyoo Mini +
Awesome Elliott Smith shirt! I visited this wall in the late 2000's.
That's awesome! I have sadly never visited it, I was actually in LA for a few weeks last year and it didn't hit me until after I was back home :(
@@RetroGameCorps ahh hope you can get there someday.
One of the best vids on your channel. I'm so glad you told us about not being able to trade pokemon, I wander if there is any hack to do so?
Also such a cool thing to do regards keep retro policies
Russ, my utmost respect to you.
Thank you so much for this, my Girlfriend got us a couple of these and I'm fuckin' HYPED to play Bubble Bobble with her. :D
You can actually host and join a multiplayer game from the "Y menu" when browsing your games.
Imagen if you could do this with 8 Steam Deck's (or something else that that can run Smash for) and then have 8 player Smash.
There is an easier way to enable local wifi multiplayer - go to the game and highlight it then press Y to load up extra options (similar to when scraping) and then enable Easy Wifi Multiplayer which does the same as described in this video with one button press.
Thanks for the feedback, this video came out before that feature was available. Here is an updated video with the new process: ua-cam.com/video/Y_Qx720WxJ0/v-deo.html
@@RetroGameCorps Wow, this is a game-changer! So no need to join any hotspot or local wifi at all? This is Switch level voodoo! Ps: did you have to go to the Expert section to run SNES as the stick one used to not work with local MP?
Is there a way to play with someone across the globe?
@@Vatoxido For sure - using the same online method - but everyone has to have the exact same rom/version to play
Big support for this vid hope you talk about right to repair and stuff like that when it comes to these products.excited to see how keep retro responds
. I'm a supporter of the aokzoe 1 pro and I'm excited but I definitely have my concerns with the role out. Excited still!
Great vid dude! Would be cool if you could do a video on how to download GMU music player onto the Miyoo Mini, I feel like many ppl would love the added feature of a mp3 player to all the great features already on the MMP
Ah - no Link Cable support! That's an bummer - hopefully that changes sometime. I know some standalone GBA emulators support network play/trading.
I've been looking at these possibilities for my younger 2 ladies, 9 & 12
We have sweet 2/3DS XL setups, 🎩: but they have a hard time remembering all the steps for the emulators: they Love playing my BATOCERA Setups.
If only I've knew this earlier I would've bought this than anbernic rg35xx
Good stuff! The retro grey MM+ is very enticing..
Hello Russ. Thanks for your video it's very helpful 👍
