Cheesed Gamer Aww😞 try adoption a piggie, but remember dont put them togever streight awayet them get to know each other and split them up for around 2 weeks this issue also known a bonding. The cheepest option for a good cage is a c&c cage, there very cheap and customisable. If you cant afford any of these I really dont think you are ready form as piggie. However if you can provide these then I'm sure your piggies will be very happy😄
Just wanted to say thank you for this video. There are so many things they won't tell you if you purchase a Guinea pig from a pet store like we did. Also make sure to call veterinarians ahead of time to make sure they have experience with Guinea pigs, not all do and an emergency isn't the time to find out.
My Guinea pig died today because he had a malfunction with both his kidneys and he stopped eating. This video really helped me, not knowing that something was wrong.
Mine also was devastating when we arrived clinic doctor not their yet and when he arrived he seems in full pain when I put him on table he wasn't able moved..and die few sec..
My guinea pig passed away not long ago she stopped eating and drinking, her eyes were crusty and she wouldn’t even go to the bathroom she also wouldn’t move much , I loved her to bits but she is now in peace and I still miss her so much

My guinea pig died today. I did see hairloss and crusty eyes, and told my parents, but they didn't do anything. It was a sudden death and I am still really sad. He was really old, though.

That's why I'm afraid to get a friend for my 3 yr old pig. It happened to the brother and sister I had. The poor sister only ever liked him. He liked people kind of but she hated people. When he died she didn't last at all she was so upset.
my had an eye infection because his teeth were too long. he also had another illness that my normal vet didn't find. he died 4 days later :( luckily I'm getting another guinea pig so my guinea pig I have currently won't get lonely. (he only died 2 weeks ago)
This helped a lot! I noticed that Cheeto (one of my guineas) was breathing kind of heavy, but there were no other visible signs. She was eating fine and her teeth are normal. I checked her eyes and everything. I finally found out that she was just anxious, so she was scared. Still scared me though. Thank you for the video :)

The first week I got my guinea his eye got infected some how I noticed it when he wouldn't fully open his left eye and that eye had crusty and it was watering My mom and I waited two days For one we were trying to find a small animal vet in our area and for two I guess my mom was hoping it would go away It didn't and me and my mom got concerned So she took me out of school a bit early and we went to the vet and found out it was just an infection We got eye drops My guinea got a full check up and that's when I found out how old he was (5 months) and that he was officially a boar Now he's doing fine and loves his floor time
I love that your mom understands the importance of the vet... I see it often where parents get kids guinea pigs but don't feel thay are worthy of vet bill...thinking it's "just a guinea pig" All the love to your mom!💙
Thank you so much for posting this video. It was extremely helpful. Even though I do want to say that when buying a guinea pig (I'm speaking from experience, I've bought two) you want to ask to hold them to make sure that they fit your personality and that they do not have any strange symptoms.

Yeah my guinea pig had hay poke , his eyes started becoming white i was so scared but the vet told me it was just hay poke so i started giving his eye drops , now everything is ok :3

I remember when I was younger my family and I got Guinea pigs and it started a trend in our neighbourhood. The problem was we did a lot of research on the animals before hand and others didn't and my next door neighbors got two Guinea pigs and they had shown them to us (they had them for a few weeks) and they were the skinniest boniest animals I had ever felt. They kept them in the basement with very little light and they kept them in like a bin they ended giving me one luckily and this poor Guinea pig was so malnourished his teeth fell out so for like a week or more we had to crush up all his food because he had no teeth!
On January 24th, 2022, we had to put down one our piggies due to an ear infection that spread to her eye. We had her for 2 years, and we loved her so much. And she loved us.
At first I was like “oh no! One of my guinea pigs spends a lot of time In her cave!” Then she said “Not coming out for food” oh never mind we good. If I so much as brush past the food bin she runs to the front of the cage a weeks. Don’t worry she’s not underweight (she might even be on the bigger side but not fat) I think she just isn’t used to me yet. Both of my piggies are rescued and I’ve only had them for about a month. But most of the time I go in my room she is in her cave should I be worried. (Ps the other piggie is completely running around and active)
Just lost one of ours, Arlo. First signs were diarrhoea, then wheezing, then not eating, then falling over, then totally inability to breathe due to pneumonia. He was seen by the vet immediately at first symptoms, then twice more, and then finally kept in oxygen with antibiotic injections for 24 hrs, but nothing helped. He went from looking fine to dead in five days :(

well one of my pigs died in October. his name was skittles. he had the weight loss and not eating or moving symptoms. when I saw that he lost a lot of weight and wasn't eating or moving I knew something wasn't right. me and my mom took him to the vet and the guinea pig doctor wasn't there so one of the vets had to call her. he got this disease that I don't remember the name of but it said it kills in up to 4 hours I think. we got him medication and took him home but when we were trying to feed him he just fell over and died right in front of me. My family was all sad and I'm like, what the hell? he was just fine in the morning but I guess he was hiding it really damn well. the worse part is that we paid 160 dollars for that medication and that shot but he died right after. rip Skittles. I miss you.
also another thing. The vet said that whatever sickness that skittles had, my other guinea pig would catch to but he's has no symptoms for the past 4 months. his name is snickers by the way.
Dude same here my guniea pig die of disease my sister and my mom shower him in the morning he was looking good but he was skinny a lot because I thought he was getting old after he was dry we put him in his cage and then 10min later my sister went to check him and she saw my guniea pig dig himself in the corner laying down and he was dying we couldn't do anything because he was about to die now it was sad to him die slowly I carried him and my mom said to guniea that she was sorry my guniea was crying . Yesterday he kept getting out of his cage and starts following me and my mom and my sister and my brother I guess he was trying spend time with us
In my opinion having a checkup every 6 months for year checkups is more cost efficient but it's also best to show up if you ever notice anything unusual
My guinea pig has been sick for over a year now, she has bladder problems and no one knows whats going on. She got lots of medicines and because of that a lot of stress, which makes a guinea pig sick. I stopped going to the vet so many times, first it didnt helped her, and second it gave her so much stress. I give her two times a day her painkillers and cranberry juice. I give her low calcium food and water. She's doing fine now and I'm really happy that i didnt give up on her. Because all of this, she loves to spend time with me and she loves to cuddle with me a lot. She is great :)
Do not ever give your guinea pig cranberry juice! Cranberry juice is fairly acidic & very, very sugary, both of which is very bad for bladder issues, specifically, & overall guinea pig health, in general. An extra word of caution, guinea pigs can very easily become diabetic by drinking juices or eating high sugar foods. People wrongly believe that consuming cranberry juice & extract cures bladder issues when, many times, that action will only feed the problem & make it worse. 90% of UTIs in humans are caused by E coli, easily resolved without use of antibiotics when a supplement named D-mannose is taken. It's a simple sugar extracted from cranberries but is a type of sugar not absorbed by the human body so the human body excretes it in the urine. Diabetics can take it safely. But, first, we don't know if a UTI is ailing your piggy or if pigs can take it safely. Second, your pig could be suffering from kidney stones too.
+WatchingMyLifeFlashB funny, cause since i give her the cranberry juice shes getting better. The cranberry juice I give her is organic, so no added sugar or other stuff whats bad for them. It is really expensive too, its just a fruit as a juice. Im aware of that she can have kidney problems as well, but there is nothing to do with the bladder problems she has. I dont think that she is going to be old, but as long as she has a good life with no pain then i'm fine with it. thanks for the advice tho.

You need to get her to a vet with guinea pig experience. They will know what to do. Even if it is too late, they can make her passing a peaceful one. Don't let her suffer.
Sasha Alex if it's white then it's completely normal. they use white goo a guess you can call it to clean there body with. if you think it's bad then see a vet.

I think my guinea pig either has a respiratory infection or has allergies. He hasn't been moving as much, makes odd sounds as he breathes and has not seemed interested in eating in the five hours. My parents won't take him to the vet so don't suggest for me to go to the vet. What do you guys think the problem is and what should I do?.
I am so sorry, that is awful!! My heart is breaking for you...how stupid of your parents to not let you take your baby to the vet! My baby Fluffy had similar symptoms. She was making noises as she breathed, and we had to rush her to an emergency vet because it was New Year's Eve...they diagnosed her with a severe respiratory infection and gave her Baytril, a strong antibiotic. She was fine within a couple of days, but I hate to think of what would have happened to her if we hadn't rushed her to the EV... Respiratory infections are common in piggies because they are so low to the ground, and can easily inhale germs from their feces/urine, or dust from their bedding. I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope that your parents take this as a lesson that all pets need a good vet, because all pets can and will get sick and need care.
Kaia Spiesz my guinea pig recently passed away with the same issue. If I were you, I would not blame your parents for not taking it to the vet. My dad called the vet, and all they said they could do was watch it, feed it and water it, the same things I could do at home for 500$.
Another sign is respiratory infections. My Guinea pig pippi showed signs early on such like popping sounds when the breath. We didn't take into account that she was ill until there were many visible signs. We took her to the vet however she didn't last much longer. The seller I got her from wasn't very trusty now that I look back because most times their Guinea pigs look sad or sick. As of now I have two healthy Guinea pigs one who is 3 years old and one who is now 7 months ! (Pippi was 6 months) thanks for the video too! Very informative!
Hey I just got my piggies 3 days ago and she has been sneezing constantly, and sometimes when I approach her she doesn't move or seem to get scared like the other guinea pigs. But she still eats...

I was at the vet a lot of times but she started to visit us because our guineapigs are too scared to go there. They were acting like they were dead already and the vet said it's too risky to take them there. Now she can't come here because of the virus, but our piggie got his medicine. His sniff is gone but he's breathing weird at the belly aria. He sleeps a lot and isn't moving, but when I open the cage he likes to come out and he's still walking around the living room. I don't know, but I still feel like somethings wrong with his breath.
My guinea pig is 3 and half years old. He has had pea eye from the day we got him. But sometimes it's a little pinkish, but he doesn't have eye crust and it's not shut close. I've noticed him having reddish/brown pee and I don't give him any red veggies, mostly just carrots, cucumber, watermelon, kale and lettuce.. so I've been monitoring that, I was playing with him and his brother in their play pen to run around and he peed and it wasn't red. But today while I was cleaning their cage and they were in his play pen he had peed red! So idk what's happening?! He has also been having diearria lately not all the time though!? And he's been sneezing a lot! It's died down now though and their bedding is aspen, so it's safe so I have no idea why?! I'm so worried about him! But everytime I ask my mom to take him to the vet she says to just wait a little!!! But I don't want my baby to die!! I sound like a horrible pet owner but I take super good care of them! I'm so worried!! 😓
Best thing you can do is get them to a vet ASAP. If they’re showing signs of sickness, they’ve likely been sick a while. Lost my good pig of 7 years the other day and we had only just noticed he was acting funny. Lethargic, dirty butt, white stuff coming from eyes. Syringe fed him emergency food and water but he didn’t make it to the next morning. Hard not to feel guilty when it happens

One of my Guinea pigs used to be very active and very healthy. Now she is constantly eating and sleeping, with minimal activity. I can't just put less food in the enclosure because the other Guinea pig is very healthy and very active, and she needs the food.
Years ago when I was in college I bought a sick guinea pig from a store b/c I wanted to get it out of the cage and to a vet but it passed away on the drive. But thank you for this now as my daughter and I just adopted two guinea pigs
One of my little guys is prone to URIs and the first time he had one, one of the signs that something wasn't right was that he hid away constantly. His piggy brother would hide a lot as well, but would also go out now and then, run up to the second floor, etc. And both had been with me for months, so it wasn't acclimating to a new environment. The little sick boy just seemed drawn to compact, hidden areas. Another sign was that he just seemed kind of out of it. Whenever he was hiding in his hay box, I could scoop him up pretty quickly and easily without him noticing. Normally, he and his piggy brother noticed me moving to pick them up and would scurry off. There though, he didn't seem to register that I was holding him until he was on my lap. That being said, when he did notice, he was VERY resistant to being picked up or touched. I know a lot of piggies are like that in general, but he would wiggle and squirm to the point where I nearly dropped him several times. For comparison, when he was recovered, he still would not like being picked up, but would at least hold still so he wouldn't go into freefall. ^^; Finally, I started to suspect he wasn't drinking water. It was a bit hard to tell, because I wasn't around the piggies all day, but I noticed the places he hid in didn't seem as... urine-garnished as one would expect. I also saw him favoring veggies like lettuce, which he used to choose as more of a secondary option but which I realized in hindsight also had a lot of water content. Also, the only time thus far he's ever licked me is when I had some tomato juice on my fingers after feeding them a few slices. As cute as it was, I felt pretty bad later when I realized how thirsty the little guy must have been. :( Fortunately he's much better now, eating well, out and about, and generally being an adorable little fuzzy potato. XD
Everyone keeps commenting on how their piggies died 😭 my boy is sick. I tried to book an appointment at the vet but no slots are available until June and I'm scared he won't make it til then

Hi, I think my guinea pig is coughing occasionally but I’ve checked her over and there’s no other symptoms. No runny nose or eyes, her eyes aren’t crusty, she’s still active and eating well. Should I be worried still?

My guinea pigs almost never drink water, but they sure do eat and they love to play chasing each other around the cage, and wheek for food at the sound of a bag krinkeling. But they really aren't drinking water which has me concerned, although they have pretty much been this way since I got them seven months ago.
It may become depressed later in life as they are sociable animals and it may get lonely. I would suggest you get it a guinea pig safe stuffed toy to keep it company :-)
two of my pigs died today :(( the other two are alive and healthy tho. i’m not exactly sure what happened bc they were all eating fine, drinking fine, no unusual activity or anything wrong with their body, not laying around a lot. idk :((

I lost my Guinea pig to a tumor, bless him, and Yr right he got regular vet checks, etc, and he 2as acting normal, untill he stopped eating and moving around as normal, after three days I noticed dark bllod in his cage so rushed him to the vets absolutely heartbroken and hoping he was going to be OK, hoping that maybe he had just scratched his paw with some sharp hay, ut when the vet checked him over hiding under his beautifull long hair just underneeth his bum pouch, (not his poo hole) there was a tumore and it 2as bleeding rey bad, (he had been for a full che k up at vets 5 weeks before as he was 10 years old, and it wasn't there, so THAY happen rey quick, the vet said there was nothing THAY could do but CONTINUASLY give him pain meds, so the kindest thing to do was put him to sleep WICH broke my Hart so much, but Yr video was right his eating habits changed due to pain and his movements lesson3d due to pain also......... Unfortunately I didn’t do my research as a lot of people don’t. I thought I was taking good care of my guinea pig but I wasn’t. He got so sick and before I could get him to the vet he passed away. It devastated me because this was my first pet in 15 years after my childhood dog passed. Guinea pigs are not like simple hamsters. They take a lot of care. RIP Butters. 😢 he was such a lover and I’m hurting because it’s my fault you passed. Lesson learned. And I’ll never have a piggy again.
My guinea pig isn’t eating, and hasn’t really been moving, his mouth and ears and nose are fine. My other guinea pig (they are both males) is a bit bigger and is more dominant. He would try to hump him whenever he went near the food. So we thought he was just afraid of his “cage mate” and that’s why he wasn’t moving but he’s making a clicking sound when he breathes. We looked it up and that might be a respiratory infection or an pneumonia which is the leading cause of death in guinea pigs apparently. All of the vets are closed due to the quarantine. (One is open tomorrow in the morning so we are gonna call them in the morning) And they said if it’s an emergency to call the vet hospital but I know that’s a lot of money and we don’t know if it’s an emergency or not. So I don’t wanna spend all my money since we can’t waste money due to having no work. What should I do? Should I take him to the pet hospital or should I wait until tomorrow morning? (It’s currently 4:00 PM where I am) currently I’m feeding him lettuce since that is food and it has water in it. And I’ve been doing this for a while now and he has only eaten 3 little pieces of it. I know something isn’t right. (Also I cant tell if his poop is normal because I’ve been holding him for a while and he hasn’t pooped, which normally he would by now but the cage poop looks normal but I don’t know because it’s all mixed up and I don’t know which poop is which.)
my poor piggy died yesterday he had cancer he was really skinny but ate a lot and was very active we had no idea till we felt a lump on his neck and he just had no energy left they couldn't save him we got him from a pet shop and the vet said if we didn't treat him so well like hand feeding him and interacting with him he would have died a few days later we only had him for a month but he had a good life RIP crunchy you will be missed
In my area, there is no vets for small animals. The closest one is 2-3 hours away and the prices are unreasonably high and cost more than my yearly cost. 300 dollars just to run tests on my old guinea pig. We cannot afford that and unfortunately can only take care of them the best we can so they have good lives.
My guide pig had a limp (she had had diherrea for a year but the vet couldn't find anything) we thought she had pulled a muscle or caught it on the newspaper but on the morning of the vet visit the was lying in her cage unable to move with the other pig next to her, me and my dad took her straight to the vet and she was put down it turned out she had had a stroke from brain cancer. By telling my story I want everyone who has a pig to take them straight to the vet even if it's just a tiny limp
I'm so sorry for your loss of your little piggy. I had two Guinea pigs called Cocoa and Maisy and they were luckily born on my birthday and we got them from pets at home. We then noticed that Maisy started drinking all the time and thought nothing of it until the next school morning my parents broke the sad news to me that Maisy had died and we didn't know why so we asked loads of people and apparently all pets at homes get their Guinea pigs for three pounds and then sell them for like 60 pounds but they are overbred and sadly Maisy had a kidney and liver problem which was from the overbred problem. We then read that cocoa would get lonely so we was looking for one and found my mums work friends son is in the Uk's top ten best breeders and we got her for free because she wasn't the proper breed plus she was handled everyday since birth and cocoa has got along well with her and they are both too cute x
Just last week, we took my piggy to the vet because he was so skinny and we weren’t sure why. And he was losing lots of fur. So we talked in with our guinea pig, thinking he had worms and almost walked out with no piggy at all because he had to be put down immediately. Turns out he has over a thousand tumors and he was not even a year old. We wanted one more day with him and later that night, he was on his side and giving up. He could no longer breathe because he had a huge tumor inside his lung. With the amount of pain he was in, he got put down immediately. I miss him everyday already. 😢
hm.. i would suggest just going for a checkup. i’m going today for my female guinea pig who had a miscarriage and stillbirth. she was perfectly fine, running and eating normally. if i do go, i will come back here to tell you how much the estimated cost of the bill is! even though it might not be the same illness
My guinea pig passed away just 10 minutes ago. i'm crying non-stop. i'm trying to see what could've gone wrong with her(her name is Ginger). She was only a few months old. I think she might have had a heart or kidney issue. She stopped responding to me this morning, so i thought she was just sleeping, it's very easy for me to wake her up.I called her name, and then reached in her cage to pick her up... but to my surprise she fell numb. she wasn't even running away. I nudged her softly, and then she cried, or squeaked. I knew she was in distress. she died while i was holding her. I know this may be to much details, but i just needed to get this off my mind. Thank for this, I fell much better
my poor Puff Baby died yesterday. he somehow got an infection inside his eye, that went into his brain. & all within a few hours, he stopped eating, he got cold, went limp, stopped drinking, couldn't stand up on his own, then he started having seizures, couldn't breathe well... took him to the hospital. they gave him less than 10% chance of survival. if they operated on him he wouldn't even have been able to handle it. I don't know how or why this happened. there was no other signs at all.
My sister Guinea Pig's eye starter to get clouded up. My mom looked it up and it said it should clear up in a few days. A few days went by and the eye was still blue. My mom took him to the vet and he had a scratched cornea. We had to give him three medicines, and one was eye drops that had to be taken 4 times a day. He is better now and our pigs are healthy
My piggie died today and we had no clue something was wrong..... I went to pick her up and she acted normal, but I pet her and my lap and she just fell on her side and slid off of it. I put her back in her cage because I was freaking out and didn't know what else to do, she just fell over and started twitching. It looked like she was having a seizure. By the time we had called the vet she wasn't breathing. We are taking the other piggie to the vet tomorrow to make sure she's okay. Sadly the other piggie was only roughly 7 months. My guinea pig had lumps I was so scared as he was only two years old , I made sure to take him to the vet and luckily it was not cancer . U did not know how relieved I was !!! but it could go either way , sometimes it might be cancer and sometimes not so please don't assume when an animal has a lump it's cancer because sometimes it's not as bad as people think it can be !!
My piggie has a few "nubs" on his body, but they've always been there, and are not growing.The prior one that I had, had a very obvious nub on his forehead, but was never bothered by it.My point is, that if your piggie has a little nub somewhere, it's not necessarily a problem. However, if the nub grows, or you are concerned in any way, go to the vet.
Whenever I see any changes in my guinea pigs, I don't waste time! I've took them both to the vet twice for two different occasions, but luckily I was just over reacting and they were fine. Another symptom is breathing, if when they try to squeak, if it sounds raspy/crackly, see a vet immediately, this happened to my guinea pig, luckily he got the all clear and they believed he might of inhaled dust from sawdust or hay, but not all cases are this mild so treat it in a serious matter x
im super scared. my first guinea pig passed away a few months ago and the second one is terribly ill. he had a huge lump of hair around his butt so we cut it off, now he has a deep wound near is paw (at the top of the leg) and it is bleeding. i can tell its infected and its super painful to look at. i don't know how he did this but i'm very worried. my parents haven't even considered the vet because its probably too expensive. instead they bought some healing stuff and put it on the wound. its never going to work, i'm going to take him their myself!

My Guinea pig crystal started to lose hair and I got really upset. Then my mom put this stuff that kills rats or something that's not poisonous though but I don't think it was rat killer either. After that she started growing her hair back I'm so happy!
My piggy died today. Idk what happened, he used to be so fat and it seems like all of a sudden he was just skin and bones. The vet said it may have been cancer. I hope my other pig doesn't get lonely.

Aww😞 try adoption a piggie, but remember dont put them togever streight awayet them get to know each other and split them up for around 2 weeks this issue also known a bonding. The cheepest option for a good cage is a c&c cage, there very cheap and customisable. If you cant afford any of these I really dont think you are ready form as piggie. However if you can provide these then I'm sure your piggies will be very happy😄
Just wanted to say thank you for this video. There are so many things they won't tell you if you purchase a Guinea pig from a pet store like we did. Also make sure to call veterinarians ahead of time to make sure they have experience with Guinea pigs, not all do and an emergency isn't the time to find out.

my had an eye infection because his teeth were too long. he also had another illness that my normal vet didn't find. he died 4 days later :( luckily I'm getting another guinea pig so my guinea pig I have currently won't get lonely. (he only died 2 weeks ago)

This helped a lot! I noticed that Cheeto (one of my guineas) was breathing kind of heavy, but there were no other visible signs. She was eating fine and her teeth are normal. I checked her eyes and everything. I finally found out that she was just anxious, so she was scared. Still scared me though. Thank you for the video :)

For one we were trying to find a small animal vet in our area and for two I guess my mom was hoping it would go away

So she took me out of school a bit early and we went to the vet and found out it was just an infection
We got eye drops
My guinea got a full check up and that's when I found out how old he was (5 months) and that he was officially a boar
Now he's doing fine and loves his floor time

I see it often where parents get kids guinea pigs but don't feel thay are worthy of vet bill...thinking it's "just a guinea pig"

I remember when I was younger my family and I got Guinea pigs and it started a trend in our neighbourhood. The problem was we did a lot of research on the animals before hand and others didn't and my next door neighbors got two Guinea pigs and they had shown them to us (they had them for a few weeks) and they were the skinniest boniest animals I had ever felt. They kept them in the basement with very little light and they kept them in like a bin they ended giving me one luckily and this poor Guinea pig was so malnourished his teeth fell out so for like a week or more we had to crush up all his food because he had no teeth!
On January 24th, 2022, we had to put down one our piggies due to an ear infection that spread to her eye. We had her for 2 years, and we loved her so much. And she loved us.
At first I was like “oh no! One of my guinea pigs spends a lot of time In her cave!” Then she said “Not coming out for food” oh never mind we good. If I so much as brush past the food bin she runs to the front of the cage a weeks. Don’t worry she’s not underweight (she might even be on the bigger side but not fat) I think she just isn’t used to me yet. Both of my piggies are rescued and I’ve only had them for about a month. But most of the time I go in my room she is in her cave should I be worried. (Ps the other piggie is completely running around and active)
I know this is 2years later but is she okay now? I’m guessing It could just be her personality, and she’s just shy, but I’m not sure.
Just lost one of ours, Arlo. First signs were diarrhoea, then wheezing, then not eating, then falling over, then totally inability to breathe due to pneumonia. He was seen by the vet immediately at first symptoms, then twice more, and then finally kept in oxygen with antibiotic injections for 24 hrs, but nothing helped. He went from looking fine to dead in five days :(

well one of my pigs died in October. his name was skittles. he had the weight loss and not eating or moving symptoms. when I saw that he lost a lot of weight and wasn't eating or moving I knew something wasn't right. me and my mom took him to the vet and the guinea pig doctor wasn't there so one of the vets had to call her. he got this disease that I don't remember the name of but it said it kills in up to 4 hours I think. we got him medication and took him home but when we were trying to feed him he just fell over and died right in front of me. My family was all sad and I'm like, what the hell? he was just fine in the morning but I guess he was hiding it really damn well. the worse part is that we paid 160 dollars for that medication and that shot but he died right after. rip Skittles. I miss you.
also another thing. The vet said that whatever sickness that skittles had, my other guinea pig would catch to but he's has no symptoms for the past 4 months. his name is snickers by the way.

Dude same here my guniea pig die of disease my sister and my mom shower him in the morning he was looking good but he was skinny a lot because I thought he was getting old after he was dry we put him in his cage and then 10min later my sister went to check him and she saw my guniea pig dig himself in the corner laying down and he was dying we couldn't do anything because he was about to die now it was sad to him die slowly I carried him and my mom said to guniea that she was sorry my guniea was crying . Yesterday he kept getting out of his cage and starts following me and my mom and my sister and my brother I guess he was trying spend time with us

My guinea pig has been sick for over a year now, she has bladder problems and no one knows whats going on. She got lots of medicines and because of that a lot of stress, which makes a guinea pig sick. I stopped going to the vet so many times, first it didnt helped her, and second it gave her so much stress. I give her two times a day her painkillers and cranberry juice. I give her low calcium food and water. She's doing fine now and I'm really happy that i didnt give up on her. Because all of this, she loves to spend time with me and she loves to cuddle with me a lot. She is great :)
Do not ever give your guinea pig cranberry juice! Cranberry juice is fairly acidic & very, very sugary, both of which is very bad for bladder issues, specifically, & overall guinea pig health, in general. An extra word of caution, guinea pigs can very easily become diabetic by drinking juices or eating high sugar foods. People wrongly believe that consuming cranberry juice & extract cures bladder issues when, many times, that action will only feed the problem & make it worse. 90% of UTIs in humans are caused by E coli, easily resolved without use of antibiotics when a supplement named D-mannose is taken. It's a simple sugar extracted from cranberries but is a type of sugar not absorbed by the human body so the human body excretes it in the urine. Diabetics can take it safely. But, first, we don't know if a UTI is ailing your piggy or if pigs can take it safely. Second, your pig could be suffering from kidney stones too.
+WatchingMyLifeFlashB funny, cause since i give her the cranberry juice shes getting better. The cranberry juice I give her is organic, so no added sugar or other stuff whats bad for them. It is really expensive too, its just a fruit as a juice. Im aware of that she can have kidney problems as well, but there is nothing to do with the bladder problems she has. I dont think that she is going to be old, but as long as she has a good life with no pain then i'm fine with it. thanks for the advice tho.

I am so sorry, that is awful!! My heart is breaking for you...how stupid of your parents to not let you take your baby to the vet! My baby Fluffy had similar symptoms. She was making noises as she breathed, and we had to rush her to an emergency vet because it was New Year's Eve...they diagnosed her with a severe respiratory infection and gave her Baytril, a strong antibiotic. She was fine within a couple of days, but I hate to think of what would have happened to her if we hadn't rushed her to the EV...
Respiratory infections are common in piggies because they are so low to the ground, and can easily inhale germs from their feces/urine, or dust from their bedding. I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope that your parents take this as a lesson that all pets need a good vet, because all pets can and will get sick and need care.

Kaia Spiesz my guinea pig recently passed away with the same issue. If I were you, I would not blame your parents for not taking it to the vet. My dad called the vet, and all they said they could do was watch it, feed it and water it, the same things I could do at home for 500$.
Another sign is respiratory infections. My Guinea pig pippi showed signs early on such like popping sounds when the breath. We didn't take into account that she was ill until there were many visible signs. We took her to the vet however she didn't last much longer. The seller I got her from wasn't very trusty now that I look back because most times their Guinea pigs look sad or sick. As of now I have two healthy Guinea pigs one who is 3 years old and one who is now 7 months ! (Pippi was 6 months) thanks for the video too! Very informative!

I was at the vet a lot of times but she started to visit us because our guineapigs are too scared to go there.

I've noticed him having reddish/brown pee and I don't give him any red veggies, mostly just carrots, cucumber, watermelon, kale and lettuce.. so I've been monitoring that, I was playing with him and his brother in their play pen to run around and he peed and it wasn't red. But today while I was cleaning their cage and they were in his play pen he had peed red! So idk what's happening?! He has also been having diearria lately not all the time though!? And he's been sneezing a lot! It's died down now though and their bedding is aspen, so it's safe so I have no idea why?! I'm so worried about him! But everytime I ask my mom to take him to the vet she says to just wait a little!!! But I don't want my baby to die!! I sound like a horrible pet owner but I take super good care of them! Best thing you can do is get them to a vet ASAP. If they’re showing signs of sickness, they’ve likely been sick a while. Lost my good pig of 7 years the other day and we had only just noticed he was acting funny. Lethargic, dirty butt, white stuff coming from eyes. One of my Guinea pigs used to be very active and very healthy. Now she is constantly eating and sleeping, with minimal activity. I can't just put less food in the enclosure because the other Guinea pig is very healthy and very active, and she needs the food.

One of my little guys is prone to URIs and the first time he had one, one of the signs that something wasn't right was that he hid away constantly. His piggy brother would hide a lot as well, but would also go out now and then, run up to the second floor, etc. And both had been with me for months, so it wasn't acclimating to a new environment. The little sick boy just seemed drawn to compact, hidden areas.
Another sign was that he just seemed kind of out of it. Whenever he was hiding in his hay box, I could scoop him up pretty quickly and easily without him noticing. Normally, he and his piggy brother noticed me moving to pick them up and would scurry off. There though, he didn't seem to register that I was holding him until he was on my lap.
That being said, when he did notice, he was VERY resistant to being picked up or touched. I know a lot of piggies are like that in general, but he would wiggle and squirm to the point where I nearly dropped him several times. For comparison, when he was recovered, he still would not like being picked up, but would at least hold still so he wouldn't go into freefall. ^^;
Finally, I started to suspect he wasn't drinking water. It was a bit hard to tell, because I wasn't around the piggies all day, but I noticed the places he hid in didn't seem as... urine-garnished as one would expect. I also saw him favoring veggies like lettuce, which he used to choose as more of a secondary option but which I realized in hindsight also had a lot of water content. Also, the only time thus far he's ever licked me is when I had some tomato juice on my fingers after feeding them a few slices. As cute as it was, I felt pretty bad later when I realized how thirsty the little guy must have been. :(
Fortunately he's much better now, eating well, out and about, and generally being an adorable little fuzzy potato. XD

Hi, I think my guinea pig is coughing occasionally but I’ve checked her over and there’s no other symptoms. No runny nose or eyes, her eyes aren’t crusty, she’s still active and eating well. Should I be worried still?

Edit: she is okay. She was just stressed because we got our first bunny and he was really rowdy. Now we have two and she is a happy piggie! Thanks again, from Cuddles and me

My guinea pigs almost never drink water, but they sure do eat and they love to play chasing each other around the cage, and wheek for food at the sound of a bag krinkeling. But they really aren't drinking water which has me concerned, although they have pretty much been this way since I got them seven months ago.

It may become depressed later in life as they are sociable animals and it may get lonely. I would suggest you get it a guinea pig safe stuffed toy to keep it company :-)

two of my pigs died today :(( the other two are alive and healthy tho. i’m not exactly sure what happened bc they were all eating fine, drinking fine, no unusual activity or anything wrong with their body, not laying around a lot. idk :((

My guinea pig always tilled his head and he was ill and he only had 24hrs to live but luckily he survived by giving him wet food and forcing him to eat and drink

I lost my Guinea pig to a tumor, bless him, and Yr right he got regular vet checks, etc, and he 2as acting normal, untill he stopped eating and moving around as normal, after three days I noticed dark bllod in his cage so rushed him to the vets absolutely heartbroken and hoping he was going to be OK, hoping that maybe he had just scratched his paw with some sharp hay, ut when the vet checked him over hiding under his beautifull long hair just underneeth his bum pouch, (not his poo hole) there was a tumore and it 2as bleeding rey bad, (he had been for a full che k up at vets 5 weeks before as he was 10 years old, and it wasn't there, so THAY happen rey quick, the vet said there was nothing THAY could do but CONTINUASLY give him pain meds, so the kindest thing to do was put him to sleep WICH broke my Hart so much, but Yr video was right his eating habits changed due to pain and his movements lesson3d due to pain also......... Unfortunately I didn’t do my research as a lot of people don’t. I thought I was taking good care of my guinea pig but I wasn’t. He got so sick and before I could get him to the vet he passed away. It devastated me because this was my first pet in 15 years after my childhood dog passed. Guinea pigs are not like simple hamsters. They take a lot of care. RIP Butters. 😢 he was such a lover and I’m hurting because it’s my fault you passed. Lesson learned. And I’ll never have a piggy again.
My guinea pig isn’t eating, and hasn’t really been moving, his mouth and ears and nose are fine. My other guinea pig (they are both males) is a bit bigger and is more dominant. He would try to hump him whenever he went near the food. So we thought he was just afraid of his “cage mate” and that’s why he wasn’t moving but he’s making a clicking sound when he breathes. We looked it up and that might be a respiratory infection or an pneumonia which is the leading cause of death in guinea pigs apparently. All of the vets are closed due to the quarantine. (One is open tomorrow in the morning so we are gonna call them in the morning) And they said if it’s an emergency to call the vet hospital but I know that’s a lot of money and we don’t know if it’s an emergency or not. So I don’t wanna spend all my money since we can’t waste money due to having no work. What should I do? Should I take him to the pet hospital or should I wait until tomorrow morning? (It’s currently 4:00 PM where I am) currently I’m feeding him lettuce since that is food and it has water in it. And I’ve been doing this for a while now and he has only eaten 3 little pieces of it. I know something isn’t right.
(Also I cant tell if his poop is normal because I’ve been holding him for a while and he hasn’t pooped, which normally he would by now but the cage poop looks normal but I don’t know because it’s all mixed up and I don’t know which poop is which.)
my poor piggy died yesterday he had cancer he was really skinny but ate a lot and was very active we had no idea till we felt a lump on his neck and he just had no energy left they couldn't save him we got him from a pet shop and the vet said if we didn't treat him so well like hand feeding him and interacting with him he would have died a few days later we only had him for a month but he had a good life RIP crunchy you will be missed

In my area, there is no vets for small animals. The closest one is 2-3 hours away and the prices are unreasonably high and cost more than my yearly cost. 300 dollars just to run tests on my old guinea pig. We cannot afford that and unfortunately can only take care of them the best we can so they have good lives.
My guide pig had a limp (she had had diherrea for a year but the vet couldn't find anything) we thought she had pulled a muscle or caught it on the newspaper but on the morning of the vet visit the was lying in her cage unable to move with the other pig next to her, me and my dad took her straight to the vet and she was put down it turned out she had had a stroke from brain cancer.
By telling my story I want everyone who has a pig to take them straight to the vet even if it's just a tiny limp
I'm so sorry for your loss of your little piggy. I had two Guinea pigs called Cocoa and Maisy and they were luckily born on my birthday and we got them from pets at home. We then noticed that Maisy started drinking all the time and thought nothing of it until the next school morning my parents broke the sad news to me that Maisy had died and we didn't know why so we asked loads of people and apparently all pets at homes get their Guinea pigs for three pounds and then sell them for like 60 pounds but they are overbred and sadly Maisy had a kidney and liver problem which was from the overbred problem. We then read that cocoa would get lonely so we was looking for one and found my mums work friends son is in the Uk's top ten best breeders and we got her for free because she wasn't the proper breed plus she was handled everyday since birth and cocoa has got along well with her and they are both too cute x
Just last week, we took my piggy to the vet because he was so skinny and we weren’t sure why. And he was losing lots of fur. So we talked in with our guinea pig, thinking he had worms and almost walked out with no piggy at all because he had to be put down immediately. Turns out he has over a thousand tumors and he was not even a year old. We wanted one more day with him and later that night, he was on his side and giving up. He could no longer breathe because he had a huge tumor inside his lung. With the amount of pain he was in, he got put down immediately. I miss him everyday already. 😢

hm.. i would suggest just going for a checkup. i’m going today for my female guinea pig who had a miscarriage and stillbirth. she was perfectly fine, running and eating normally. if i do go, i will come back here to tell you how much the estimated cost of the bill is! even though it might not be the same illness
My guinea pig passed away just 10 minutes ago. i'm crying non-stop. i'm trying to see what could've gone wrong with her(her name is Ginger). She was only a few months old. I think she might have had a heart or kidney issue. She stopped responding to me this morning, so i thought she was just sleeping, it's very easy for me to wake her up.I called her name, and then reached in her cage to pick her up... but to my surprise she fell numb. she wasn't even running away. I nudged her softly, and then she cried, or squeaked. I knew she was in distress. she died while i was holding her. I know this may be to much details, but i just needed to get this off my mind. Thank for this, I fell much better
my poor Puff Baby died yesterday. he somehow got an infection inside his eye, that went into his brain. & all within a few hours, he stopped eating, he got cold, went limp, stopped drinking, couldn't stand up on his own, then he started having seizures, couldn't breathe well...
took him to the hospital. they gave him less than 10% chance of survival. if they operated on him he wouldn't even have been able to handle it. I don't know how or why this happened. there was no other signs at all.
My sister Guinea Pig's eye starter to get clouded up. My mom looked it up and it said it should clear up in a few days. A few days went by and the eye was still blue. My mom took him to the vet and he had a scratched cornea. We had to give him three medicines, and one was eye drops that had to be taken 4 times a day. He is better now and our pigs are healthy
My piggie died today and we had no clue something was wrong..... I went to pick her up and she acted normal, but I pet her and my lap and she just fell on her side and slid off of it. I put her back in her cage because I was freaking out and didn't know what else to do, she just fell over and started twitching. It looked like she was having a seizure. By the time we had called the vet she wasn't breathing. We are taking the other piggie to the vet tomorrow to make sure she's okay. Sadly the other piggie was only roughly 7 months. My guinea pig had lumps I was so scared as he was only two years old , I made sure to take him to the vet and luckily it was not cancer . U did not know how relieved I was !!! but it could go either way , sometimes it might be cancer and sometimes not so please don't assume when an animal has a lump it's cancer because sometimes it's not as bad as people think it can be !!
A change in behaviour can be a huge indicator (in all animals)
My piggie has a few "nubs" on his body, but they've always been there, and are not growing.The prior one that I had, had a very obvious nub on his forehead, but was never bothered by it.My point is, that if your piggie has a little nub somewhere, it's not necessarily a problem. However, if the nub grows, or you are concerned in any way, go to the vet.
Whenever I see any changes in my guinea pigs, I don't waste time! I've took them both to the vet twice for two different occasions, but luckily I was just over reacting and they were fine. Another symptom is breathing, if when they try to squeak, if it sounds raspy/crackly, see a vet immediately, this happened to my guinea pig, luckily he got the all clear and they believed he might of inhaled dust from sawdust or hay, but not all cases are this mild so treat it in a serious matter x
im super scared. my first guinea pig passed away a few months ago and the second one is terribly ill. he had a huge lump of hair around his butt so we cut it off, now he has a deep wound near is paw (at the top of the leg) and it is bleeding. i can tell its infected and its super painful to look at. i don't know how he did this but i'm very worried. my parents haven't even considered the vet because its probably too expensive. instead they bought some healing stuff and put it on the wound. its never going to work, i'm going to take him their myself!

My Guinea pig crystal started to lose hair and I got really upset. Then my mom put this stuff that kills rats or something that's not poisonous though but I don't think it was rat killer either. After that she started growing her hair back I'm so happy!
