- It's been a dream to make it to Alaia Bay in the Swiss Alps & surf their world class wave pool. I knew that the wave pool wouldn't count to check off the country of Switzerland so I was anxious to find another option & to my surprise I came across a small dreamer in Lake Geneva while on the way to surf the best wave in the Swiss Alps. I was actually at the wave pool in switzerland two weeks ago and went past the lake thinking the exact same thing! I was on a train however, so no stop and rip :D Glad you did it for the crew man! Love it!

I'm half Swiss , have a dual citizenship, and I have several first cousins that live in Basel , Luzern , Bern and Zurich....I go to visit every 9 years and have been since 1961....My favorite town is Zermatt where I ski the Glacier even in Summer.... Switzerland is a truly amazing Country.....🇨🇭🏔️🏂🌊🔥💪👊

If you guys still in the swiss alps , i highly recommend you to enjoy some walking trails in the area or hit the drive from aliia bay through the Graubünden Alps to Chur - Zürich.

Been meaning to tell you I surfed the other day at one of your local breaks. It was small, but supper fun. High tide, backwash, but with a nice little right coming in. It was at Bath Avenue, up there in Manasquan.

Our sport is amazing, but until you came along, most of us could barely be stoked until conditions were rippable and above chest high. You've saved surfing and us all at once Ben. THANK YOU.

for surfable waves in lake geneva, lake neuchatel oder bodensee (there is a real surfing scene) you got better chances between autumn and spring....

I was an Aussie snowboard bum in the Alps near lake Geneva for a few years. Wish this was there back then!
I do remember sitting in traffic in Montreux and seeing 2 dudes with their shortboards run across the road towards lake Geneva!! Fair to say I was a little confused 😅
You must Go in Oberland, in Thun, a Very nice small town , with pretty sick shallow Reef flow rider surf 🏄♀️
Every time I’ve visited Thun the river has been packed and it’s an ace place - with a mass of spectators and a stylish wooden walkway bridge creating the wave.
Played a music festival in Switzerland recently, what a great place!!

I was in Interlochen a couple years ago, and there were a couple breaks at the spillways on the lake level control dams. One drop had a just two way rad honers, the other drop was crowded. There was a long line on a rope on the left bank. Everyone waited for their turn and used the rope to swing into the wave. When you fell, you had to swim fast to the left side to catch the rope. Some of the dudes got some long rides.

I used to live about 1 hour from SION before the wave pool was built such a cool idea. Funny story I Went back to visit the area where u jumped in the lake Ben about 4 years ago and a noticed there was actual wind swell breaking off a few jetties about waist to chest high. Turns out if you get a huge storm at the top of Lake Geneva you end up getting a fetch and small waves are made. There are a few locals that live near Lac leman ( Lake Geneva ) that know how it works. Magic seaweed did an article on them before they merged with Surfline. Might be in their Archives ?. Also how much was it per session at Aleia Bay ??

You might want to check lake neuchatel. But i guess its already too late 😅 also if you stick around in that area, check out the Matterhorn anyways. More impressive than it looks on pictures. Otherwise there is some well known Rapid Surfing in Thun

Never once did I think of surfing that lake until I lived in Australia for a year. After that, I was out on every storm trying to paddle into shoredump onto 20cm of depth 🤣
I lived in Villar-Gryon for a while and saw 2 guys in Montreux with boards, running towards the lake! Could have been you 😅 As an Aussie myself, I was a little confused!
