@Alexander MCINTYRE seeing the bottom when it's crystal clear water and sharp jagged coral and urchins a few feet below you is not fun. I think this is nice because it's just sand.
jimmythefish I surf in New England and a lot of the spots are boulder fields and on the rare occasion that we have clear water it makes it less scary bc I know where not to fall. When the water is murky you might just land on a boulder and that always sucks

Aaron Greer most of the locals there don’t surf. Some do and they run a surf camp. It’s hard to get there but not so hard you can’t and it is fairly close to several major resorts. They actually surfed several spots in the same area and the wave is no where near as long of a ride as they say. It could potentially be that long on a perfect angle swell but no one there ever claimed it was. I have sailed into there twice and stayed a good long time. I’ve got great waves there but Malibu first point long, not what they say.
This reminds me of discovering Punts Mita and Sayulita in the early 90’s before the road north of Puerto Vallarta was paved to get up there. 4-5 great breaks. Warm water. No crowds and only locals. It was heaven on the right swell. We used to watch the bouys and charge from San Diego on a 180-190 south swell in late summer. Some of the best sessions ever. Now there are 2 hotels and it’s swarming with people.
The same for Mundaka, when we surfed it was absolute perfection in the late 80s, early 90s, then the oil spill occurred, they had to dredge the banks for wildlife and oil and it was messed up proper bad, it still hasn't really been the same. A little after early 90s, but I was lucky enough to "house sit" for someone nearby at Punta Burros in 2001. I had that place almost to myself for an entire summer and surfed it every day. Only a few people in the water, and so many waves to go around. What a time...

I wonder if this is Western Sahara. There just aren't too many places within striking distance of Portugal with uninhabited 20km sandy bays. There are beaches in Western Sahara that are covered in crabs. You can fly from anywhere in Portugal to Gran Canaria, then to Nouadhibou, rent a car, and cross back into Western Sahara. The Canary and Cape Verde islands are all volcanic and quick to get around, so I'd rule them out. Mauritania proper is even more remote, expensive, and unsafe. It's dangerous to drive around unless you're in a company caravan and know where the minefields are.

_”ok, you SWEAR you won’t tell anybody?”_ Then in 2020 they will have a pro contest there & your buddy says _”the pressure was too much, Surfer Magazine gave me $500 & a year free subscription, how could I say no?”_
Mpanada13 - maybe, but it will get crowded just like Skeleton Bay, Western Oz, Puerto Escondido etc. - you cannot hide from today’s technology. Someday soon with the aid of the now available underwater geography mapping, you’ll have UAV’s hired to fly all of the coastal waters looking for surf spots.
There are a lot of empty waves around the globe. The dedication required to get there on the right day is daunting. A lifetime effort. I have succeeded a few times. I loved it, but it did not change my life or make me a better person. Guess what: they were all hard to ride, and sometimes you still walk away unfulfilled. Enjoy all the amazing people and experiences all around you. When you get lucky in surfing, better yet.
I always feel bad for locals who have their favorite hit by interlopers, but I also think that's just tough. People want to explore and find and read swell reports and get on a plane spending money to find these blissful spots. To the locals I'd say that unless surfing is native to your land then your favorite spot for your favorite passion is due to transients and visitors who brought surfing with them to you and your life. Sorry, but everything popular is due to the migration of ideas and good luck pushing against that tide.
Perfection is subjective regardless of what you are talking about. Waves, beach, hiking tails, ski slopes etc. I found out that the pros and cons balance out. Seclusion might = danger, lack of emergency help, food. Incredible = crowded, touristy etc. I found my invisible cobalt blue water "heaven" on earth similar to above but it was a live razor sharp reef, shallow with fire coral, angry fishermen and shady local authorities towards Americans.
Bye bye wave...marina coming. “As the Island's most prized asset, planned development will play a key role in the future prosperity of Boa Vista. Fully endorsed by the Cape Verdean Government, Santa Monica Beach is the spectacular location for six new developments planned by The Resort Group PLC. The master plan will incorporate an impressive marina, developed in partnership with some of the world’s leading hotel brands. This will transform Santa Monica into a truly exclusive and unparalleled beach destination, whilst preserving the Island’s unique and unexplored edge.”
Surprised by all the negative comments.. It's not hypocritical to enjoy adventuring/getting away from crowds and documenting the experience.. I love seeing people find secret spots and I don't blame them for not sharing the location! Definitely wouldn't want any of these trolls in the comments to show up at my secret spot. However, my secret spot is much less desirable than this one haha
Snapper, Really,? Point Perf looks nice but very weak wave , there's a dozen places in WA better with nobody except occasional white pointer for 300 km, perfection in the eyes of the beholder eh, ?
Stumbled across this today. Took me an hour to find the location on google earth with the clues left from the video))) That said I'm not going to divulge the location but if you know how to use google earth there is enough in this vid to expose the place
That last footage from the beach was next level though, gotta say, 8-10 and meaty...that is nice , and it is very similar to cane garden bay (which in my opinion is just as good when it's on)
Let's all go surf there and when we see these guys in the water we chase them out and don't let them surf there. I'm joking, but damn that would be some karma. And once again thanks for exposing it so I can surf there.
We have now obtained the necessary construction permits for a beginners surf camp and will be having surfline email everyone 10 times a month for a free 7 day surf trip for you and a buddy.
For those who are dying to know where this wave is, it is on an island off the coast of Africa on a stretch of beach called Praia de Santa Monica which means "beach of Saint Monica". So, all you have to do is go to google Earth and Paste "Praia de Santa Mónica" into the search bar and you'll find it.
There are at least 3 of you surfing, and a boat cruising about 100 meters from you... Now add that a local told you about the wave...I guess it's the one seen on the video and there might be more people out?? The wave is very good tho...
Louis Salaun you’d eat shot and die on those waves. I’ve been surfing for years and those waves are about my level. Surf a “couple” more times before you go on saying you could this shit
This might be Oman or somewhere in the persian gulf. I gotta ask a flora expert to pinpoint where that shrubery is, and maybe a Petrologist abot the rocks. If anything, that right has to be Oman.
At 0.22 there are 3 guys on a quad bike and a 4th standing in the shore break further up the point. Notice the black and white striped board under the arm of the guy on the left of the quad. Naxto Gonzalez rides boards with that same black and white strip artwork plus he has a wetsuit with a lime green left sleeve - just like here. Pretty sure that is him on the quad. As to where they are - that was even easier to work out. At 1.54 on the bus window is written 'CV Handling' - that clue led me to Cape Verde and on to Boa Vista Island. There the volcanic peaks seen clearly at 4.56 reveal the location as Praia de Santa Mónica. 100 % sure.
AshShu Veru Don't know what you mean by 'Vimeo' but anyway I checked Naxto's IG and he was there for this swell and that was him on the quad - just as I thought.
@@LibyanSoup the real question is, 'how often does it break?'... there's a reason it was empty, and remote. if the wave looked like that regularly, the locals would have structures there, and the place would be full of local surfers on a day like that. my bet is, it breaks once every two or three years.
It is like having good "connections" as we used to call them. People guarded those like crazy....family or friends? Too bad. I aint giving up my connect for getting (insert your favorite vice here). One guy we knew sold to about 200 locals he grew up with. He never met anybody new. If you brought somebody new then he asked you to leave and you were never allowed back. This went on for 15 years and despite many different issues nobody ever gave them up. Then one day he made an exception for his brother's girlfriend. She started talking and 6 months later he was saying, "yes your honor" ......same with surf spots.....shut up!

Shame my ass, thanks for sharing ❤️ Reminds me of Namibia in reverse. Would love to see this seriously working
"And this, my dear friends, is how localism woke up at the place"
the camera work was so bad I couldn't really tell how good this spot really was.
ok. Search up "Skeleton Bay surf" then mirror the image. That's how good this wave is
Lonely, scorched planet
captivates hunting, ice moon.
Oceans arouse Earth!
_”ok, you SWEAR you won’t tell anybody?”_
Then in 2020 they will have a pro contest there & your buddy says _”the pressure was too much, Surfer Magazine gave me $500 & a year free subscription, how could I say no?”_
Mpanada13 - maybe, but it will get crowded just like Skeleton Bay, Western Oz, Puerto Escondido etc. - you cannot hide from today’s technology. Someday soon with the aid of the now available underwater geography mapping, you’ll have UAV’s hired to fly all of the coastal waters looking for surf spots.
it´s even harder to break than skeleton bay. needs a really big swell.
Fernando Gil - I ain’t buying it & neither will anybody else.
hahahaha
@@jasonjackson5696 That's actually a very good business idea...
When you get lucky in surfing, better yet.
care to share any stories
I always feel bad for locals who have their favorite hit by interlopers, but I also think that's just tough. People want to explore and find and read swell reports and get on a plane spending money to find these blissful spots. To the locals I'd say that unless surfing is native to your land then your favorite spot for your favorite passion is due to transients and visitors who brought surfing with them to you and your life. Sorry, but everything popular is due to the migration of ideas and good luck pushing against that tide.
Thanks for sharing this, time to party waves!
Thanks to this video, I was able to find this spot. It's on my list for sure.
Drop the location rn
Hey mate can you atleast tell me which part of the African coast it’s on?
@@chigchug283 It's not "ON" the African coast. Look to the west a bit.
@@ahinalu1 - Cabo Verde, perhaps!?!
Did you find it?
Is not Africa, is it?
Cheers
Perfection is subjective regardless of what you are talking about. Waves, beach, hiking tails, ski slopes etc. I found out that the pros and cons balance out. Seclusion might = danger, lack of emergency help, food. Incredible = crowded, touristy etc. I found my invisible cobalt blue water "heaven" on earth similar to above but it was a live razor sharp reef, shallow with fire coral, angry fishermen and shady local authorities towards Americans.
isn’t this the same wave from “a dream to share”?
4:50 thats what surfing day dreaming looks like.
This is an awesome spot ,I’m coming over asp before everyone crowds it out.
beautiful wave and water color
Let's find an amazing wave, then put it in a video on youtube. What could go wrong?
excellent find. surely inspirational for the many spots unfound.
Is Cabo Verde the beach is called Praia Santa Monica very nice place
Guys this is my country Cape Verde Boa Vista Island
a more beautiful story if you never told it
Reminds me of an inverted Skeleton Bay. Yum ❤️
The very definition of a hypocrite
Snapper, Really,? Point Perf looks nice but very weak wave , there's a dozen places in WA better with nobody except occasional white pointer for 300 km, perfection in the eyes of the beholder eh, ?
john garin - yes, Western Oz is still a surfing frontier with an untapped thousand+ mile coastline.
john garin yes but it’s also riddled with sharks and you’ll be the only one out, fuck that
Theres heaps of places yet to be surfed in australia, just look on Google maps
Stumbled across this today. Took me an hour to find the location on google earth with the clues left from the video))) That said I'm not going to divulge the location but if you know how to use google earth there is enough in this vid to expose the place
That last footage from the beach was next level though, gotta say, 8-10 and meaty...that is nice , and it is very similar to cane garden bay (which in my opinion is just as good when it's on)
4:51 the best shot ever
that shot pretty much reveals the place
If your surfing such a remote location like that, do you surf with a knife strapped to your leg? In case you come across some sharks or locals?
absolutely awesome right hand break wish i was there
Nice waves, thanks for showing the video bra
We are building a surf resort here with a capacity of 500 surfers at any one time.
there building far worse then that there.
YOU THERE MAY YOU LIVE FOREVER !
300
@@peacepuffz yehh, they have now, lol. Place rarely gets like this anyway:/
Amazing footage 🔥 🔥
Let's all go surf there and when we see these guys in the water we chase them out and don't let them surf there. I'm joking, but damn that would be some karma.
And once again thanks for exposing it so I can surf there.
Nicholas Kerr get there first.
Ohhh God jesus. Where is this place?
Men like Bukele awaken the dignity, decorum and desire for justice and freedom of an entire continent.
Mick surfed it kooks!!!
We have now obtained the necessary construction permits for a beginners surf camp and will be having surfline email everyone 10 times a month for a free 7 day surf trip for you and a buddy.
Looks big , fast , and hard to paddle out to......But really nice.....
3:45 is what you came for...
It's Lake Erie
That local who told them to come has shot himself in the foot. Great way to blow up the spot and instanly create crowd
not if he`s planning on running a surfcamp..
Always knew it would come to this as i hang up my fins after 60 yrs.
I surfed a couples times and when I see those waves with perfect lines it just giving me the frustration ahahah ^^ wanna leave and go to surf
Louis Salaun you’d eat shot and die on those waves. I’ve been surfing for years and those waves are about my level. Surf a “couple” more times before you go on saying you could this shit
JM A right! he just made stuff up
Noah456 huh? This isn’t a difficult wave at all really.
Jesterian i hear it’s really fast but it only takes a few tries to get used to it
@@dreadllorrd I just wanted to say that I wanted to surf. I was not saying that I'll go and surf Nazare or Jaws... you read too fast
This video feels like a dream
It’s gonna be like skeleton bay and be rammed soon
the wave already has a name...before the videos. the disrespect starts here when outsiders want to give a name to the wave that already has one
He obviously hasn't ridden a right hander at Supertubes Jefferys Bay South Africa.
A very cool place......Gnarly and in the middle of BFE if you get hurt or attacked by a big shark......Namibia is a very gnarly place.....
Wow a bunch of petty pin headed whiners commenting.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
boavista, pretty fun wave. no secret even on the net
This might be Oman or somewhere in the persian gulf. I gotta ask a flora expert to pinpoint where that shrubery is, and maybe a Petrologist abot the rocks. If anything, that right has to be Oman.
blessed journey you own it
So much negativity in these comments! Get over yourselves and the Egos.
Doesn't seem that secret look at 6:18 we can see at least two other guys in the water
100 % sure.
Libyan Soup Vimeo
AshShu Veru Don't know what you mean by 'Vimeo' but anyway I checked Naxto's IG and he was there for this swell and that was him on the quad - just as I thought.
@@LibyanSoup the real question is, 'how often does it break?'...
there's a reason it was empty, and remote. if the wave looked like that regularly, the locals would have structures there, and the place would be full of local surfers on a day like that.
my bet is, it breaks once every two or three years.
This is not Fanning's wave
It is like having good "connections" as we used to call them. People guarded those like crazy....family or friends? Too bad. I aint giving up my connect for getting (insert your favorite vice here). One guy we knew sold to about 200 locals he grew up with. He never met anybody new. If you brought somebody new then he asked you to leave and you were never allowed back. This went on for 15 years and despite many different issues nobody ever gave them up. Then one day he made an exception for his brother's girlfriend. She started talking and 6 months later he was saying, "yes your honor" ......same with surf spots.....shut up!
guys, please delete the video
how can you expose such a well kept scecret??? shame on you really. thats so bad.
I agree
@Arthur Van Lierde no.
@Arthur Van Lierde thanks
Ah, no no no!... I used a magnifying glass on that tanker, it's flagged to uh, Japan, so that point-break is really somewhere thataway... Tropical and way North of Oz...no doubt.
😜
