30 years ago I moved to Galveston for college and I bought a 10ft long board and started surfing, and even though I've lived inland for years I still look for that novelty wave every chance I get. Thanks fir keeping the stoke high!
That was awesome seeing James Fulbright. He had the best surf shop in Galveston when I was surfing in my late teens and early 20’s, I’m 54 now…. Good luck on the rest of your journey Ben! Thanks for taking us along for the ride…
Gulf of Mexico runs in my veins, learned to surf there. I'm 72 now and living vicariously thru you guys. Happy to see you including tanker surfing in Galveston!
@@AllmenshouldrespectallwomenI really hope that isn't the case.. Besides, you have absolutely zero clue what tomorrow will bring. And just because you said that, I hope that karma makes you have to eat those words. (Like you eat everything else.) I'm almost certain that your existence is viewed as burden to everyone that knows you. And you ceasing to exist, would ultimately be viewed for the betterment of everyone you care about, for society as a whole, and a net positive for the overall world. Lol. Nothing of any value would be lost. 😉 Also judging by your picture, you aren't very healthy. 😂
As a galveston wade fisherman we hated when we would see the tanker waves coming , glad you found a good use for them . Enjoyed the video , very cool dude
The beauty of cold water surfing is that, no matter how tired you might be, when you dive under that first wave paddling out, survival mode kicks in and you instantly forget about being tired.
Man, I sure would have liked to be there to cheer you on for your Tanker Surfing with Capt. Fulbright, he's an awesome dude. You were less than 10 miles from my house! This epic journey is amazing!! Stay Stoked!!!
Saw you and Hob in AC last Saturday. Wish I said what's up and thank you. Your vids for years now have brought positivity into my life which is so hard in this crazy negative world. I don't know why, they just do. Thank you!
Stylin with the "Hoff Run" and Bondi - classic! I guess the insecurity bug "I have to prove I'm powerful" is everywhere - even for Australian airline employees (not just the DMV where i have to go today LOL) Rest up - only 2 to go! Travel safe!
Alex really came through for you at Bondi. Such a great community of surfers all over the world. Truly a world ambassador for the Sport of surfing Ben . Be proud .
I love the Ozzie’s.. their enthusiasm, hospitality and good looks. The hat was such a sweet gift. I’m hoping today the mission has been successfully completed and that you are catching up on some much needed rest and Dennis/ J Vern cuddles. Looking forward to seeing how this unfolds! No..Sleep..Til Norway..Norway!! ❤️from VT
I had a bag agent trying to call me out on my carry-on it was a soft backpack, only had clothes, I put it on that little tiny square box and my 240 lb ass stood on it and crammed it in there. Loved every minute of it thank you.
I got a story about first time going out from Sydney, almost exactly the same reaction from female airport checkout, all I asked was 1 question. Things have not changed since 1974. It is probably worse. Go Ben onward to the goal.
Great going Gravy man. All that and Supergirl Erin in tandem. A stokeathon to be followed by a sleepathon I reckon. Good on red bull they back all the rad dudes out there. Very entertaining benny boy 💪
Very enjoyable video, kudos. Been there done that. Grab the local Frye and a Dewey Weber with a hatchet skeg and be all set, Texas style, and we were hungry for any swell above 3 ft! Ship speeds were different back then, along with the dredging. There was a shallow beach break at the north end that was rarely active, but had shape when the winds came from NE. One day at the Flagship pier, my buddy said, "Hey, that's my dad up there!" (hand waves), as we watched him reel in what would later be discovered as a record hammerhead. The Bulls are more predominant in the area though, due to the water clarity.
@0:36 This sounds like a really familiar storyline from somewhere! You aren't visiting the banks in the middle of the night to fund these awesome trips are you?😜
What would be a interesting video is Ben getting some training from maybe a top female longboard rider . Many shorter board and male riders miss many of the fun maneuvers a longboard has to offer and for Ben who rides knee high waves quite a bit it might be a fun vlog to see the transformation . Now Jamie O'Brian could benefit also . His girlfriend is a talented longboard rider .
Good to see you in Australia mate , actually heading down Melbourne tomorrow night from Newcastle nothing like your doing but I’m heading down Tasmania to check out some waves . Really enjoying your travels
Given the tough times post COVID and all of the drama associated with airlines, abusive customers, and the like, you'd think that a passenger carrier might like to be a sponsor of some type for a video series like this. It would be great advertisement for them.
Congratulations man and welcome back!! That was a awesome video this whole trip has seemed like you are finding the fun and joy of the search again! Stay safe and keep shredding the gnar🤙
Ben, I really like your vibe and creativity ! You're such an inspiration for many surfers around the world. I just wish you could lower the environmental impact of your trips. Taking multiple planes across the world for the sake of catching a few waves in different countries (as fun as it might be) shouldn't be the message for younger generations. Cheers from France
When I was 15 there was a perfect spot to learn to surf. Unfortunately there were always a lot of people. The waves were formed by any type ship that went by there. The wake of the ship came in and formed due to the way the break wall prevented the pressure from escaping. So the water only had one place to go, which is straight in. However, the higher the tide was the breaks would close out due to the fact that the beach was flat across. However, down below there was a tapering off to the left and to the right for quite a ways. So when the tide dropped the ways began to take shape. At full drop of tide there was epic tubes. Though short, they were plenty worth it. But if there weren't so many people...
Hi Ben and crew , How did you enjoy the bio security cabin spray down on arrival in Melbourne ? You always know when you are back in Oz ! Cough , cough !
Yeah buddy!!! You the man my friend!! Thank you for taking me along on your trip!! No sleep till Norway!!
