Attacked by a Thunder Ice Storm in the Middle of the Night - Budget Gear Camp

- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- In this adventure Luke is in a remote forest to test out some budget friendly gear from NatureHike when an Ice Storm Begins to cover the area.
As the ice forms and begins weighing heavy upon everything, MAJOR problems present themselves with the gear and Luke must make some hard decisions....

Those walking by shots always make me think of the creator having to walk back and get the kit when the shot is done, appreciate the effort 👏
as someone who did the same, can confirm ;D
Some say acting but its actually reacting.
@@superdomiq ,
I was thinking ,
Maybe he use a drone ,
Flying stationary for a few moments, and retreive the drone.
Feasible ?
Lol me to and there an overdose of walking here
Am a 60+ grandmother who enjoys these videos very much! Love to see the new gear and how the weather is going to treat you! Thanks for taking us along and your camera is working great!!
What I most appreciate about your content, Mr Luke, is your positive attitude in the face of adversity. Many would turn back way before you laugh, and say, “that’s just the way it is, everyone.” 👍
When a 3 mile hike turns into 10 having to keep going back to get the camera. Great job as usual.
Actually drives me crazy, I can stand a few of the go backs but personally prefer just the journey, personal choice obviously as it must be a requisite now as they all do it except Haze outdoors who makes a joke of it.
@@alexandrastevens8892 honestly probably just use a high quality drone fly it land it in position then walk past then off screen fly it again at least thats how id do it
@@alexandrastevens8892 my bbbbbbb
😁😁😁 This is what I want to say
This the only person i know when the weather gets worse he gets excited lol
HaHa ... Luke's one excitable little puppy that's for sure. Goes n Does what others dare not do. Great vid. Bushyboy Oz.
Well I do too.. there's many of us...
Farmer here. Bad weather, most of the times, means more money. So bad weather is good weather.
lol, I love it when the weather gets bad and the only time of year I don't like camping is the summer :)
If it ain’t rainin’ you ain’t trainin’!
Great clarity and focus from this camera. I’m a retired act teacher and I had several students who had me teaching them photography techniques. You do very well with your clips of your activities. The only thing you need to do is convince Susan to go along with you on more of your adventures. Keep up the great hikes and always be KIND . Michael😊
The thing I love about my Tundra, I know when I turn that key it’s gonna start and all systems will work. I’ve been a Toyota guy since 1987 and never regretted it. Good choice, Man!!! (Back 7 mos later). That had to be miserable, taking the tent down in the rain. You made the right decision to continue. In my experience, the storm conditions would not have gotten better. You were early on the road and the best conditions. Glad you got home safe and sound. Texas
I got a 88 toyota 4×4 one ton. Had many offers, but when I die I'm taking it with me.
My Prius is cool...
I'm thinking about saving up for a down payment on a Toyota Tacoma. TRD off-road or TRD pro.
@@Prodigalson0078 I've owned them all, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, for the money Toyota is the best. I'm not happy to say it, but it's true. Change the oil, don't abuse it and it won't let you down.
@@chriscarey1478 shoot, half of Ford is made in Mexico. From what I understand there's a Toyota factory here in the states.
The color in this video with this Camara are perfect and very natural. Looks so real.
I love how you include stories from when you were younger. It definitely adds another element of connection from us as your viewers and you and your wolf pack.
I really like this new camera. Personally, I like it better than the previous one.
❤I can watch Luke's video all day, the are very relaxing. Thank you
First time I went Fall camping with my cousin I brought my daughters Barbie sleeping bag. I think it was rated at 75°F. They called it Barbie bag all weekend. Nowadays I bring a Coleman propane heated shower with me.
Me too! Very relaxing 😌
Alone in the woods in an ice storm reading Red Dragon...A feast for all the senses!!!
A trick that I'll use on my next trip, which is using the chair for collecting tinder shavings... That's a great idea! 👍
Thanks again Luke for taking us on another exciting adventure with you. Loved hearing the bobcat :)
The picture quality is definitely a lot sharper and clearer with this new camera.
I love watching this kind of content while wrapped up warm and cosy in bed. I've been in the storm camping senario & I've had wet bedrooms in the tent & sleepness nights, with drowsy mornings or even had to run out and spend the night in the car watching the tent take water like a thirsty dog & had to down wet in dreadful wet weather. So I know that miserable feeling oh too well, & watching from warm bed as someone else deals with all that cold and discomfort is so comforting.
Me too , lol
Hi Luke Michael here I just want to say that you have a very good observation on that backpack, especially talking about the 3 and a 1/2 inch spread around the neck.👍💯
I like how you’re always upbeat. Most people would be swearing with those circumstances. Love the videos.😁
I would be really freaked out!
It's why the videos are so addictive and awesome - positivity. Negativity is dime-a-dozen and predictable. Luke's videos feel like you're on the adventure as well.
The video quality of this episode is absolutely superb. Luke always delivers quality, but this is on a whole new level. Felt like Luke had a team doing the filming for him. Fantastic!
Despise people like the ones that leave their trash and destroy trees when there isn’t a need.
I teach my son no trace when we are out hiking or camping.
Luke the first thing i noticed with this filming is the video. It is way more beautiful and smooth than your previous video. Great upgrade. More power luke
By the looks of the white claw drinks and Walmart gear it’s Obviously a camp site of inexperienced college students
Nothing wrong with Walmart gear
@@roastingpeanuts For the money their gear is trash. Some of their products arent terrible but a lot of it is practically single use. Spend just a little more and you can get stuff that is much better
@@1FAST91SONOMA very true! I concur from personal experience
@@roastingpeanuts litter hogs!! Nothing more...
But he found out why they left in such a hurry
Another bushcrafter said always use a pump to inflate your mat. The moisture and heat from your lungs will make it stretch and flatten and become less ìnsulating.
Good video, I enjoyed it.👍☺
Would be cool if you did a collaberation with the "hunker down" guy... imagine you two out there... veeeery budget gear loadout... semi bad weather and 1 litre of whiskey each... lmao
Him and Steve doing a step 2 would be EPIC.
1 liter each? So just an overnighter....
Steve Wallis will go down as a UA-cam great.
camera and video quality and clarity is better than the previous! The previous ones have not had any issues at all, but this is noticeably better from my perspective!
Luke: " I tend not to go out into freezing storm"; elements :"challenge accepted" Nature showing us again who has the upper hand
Nature....there for you when you need a little humbleness. 😂
that's when to go. you learn so much more about how to deal with it. it doesn't get boring that way
You left camping at the best of times for camping ! Awwwwe!!!!!!
I love how you walk the roads and into the woods.
At least gather up the trash?
No??
The video quality is OUTSTANDING. The content is on target. The scenery is gifted from God.
Got it all??
Am I the only one who thought, when he ran into the abandoned campsite, "Wow, someone got killed right there"?
Who leaves a good hatchet like that and their tent at the very least out there. Looked like the tent collapsed instead of taken down. Wonder if anyone went missing in that area..
Might have been a bear or booger. If you're traumatized, you're not coming back.
First thing I thought. Whoever bailed on that didn't do it because of the weather.
I thought a bear attack!!
Aliens.
Picture quality is crystal clear
I liked the rear view in the truck. Reminds me of the 1000's of miles I rode in the back of my dad's pickup as a kid.
I had the worst anxiety attack tonight, I’m still having it and I’m using your video to get my mind off it. So far it’s working. Thankyou man
Hope you're feeling better today, not a great experience, take care
@@alexandrastevens8892 thankyou so much 🙂
Fantastic video! I think this camera’s video is of “better quality” than the other camera (s) you’ve used in the past.
Really? He says hes hiking in thick forest. Lol I haven't even seen any tough hiking in a thick forest? Seems pretty flat and trees arnt even close to each other. Throughout the whole video. Not real
Budget gear challenge: stuff from the dollar store. Up here in The Great White North, Dollarama sells assorted camping tools and accessories. I’d love to see gear from that price bracket tested.
First thing I thought when I saw the reindeer stew was, "How did Santa get home?"
Uber.
He drove his Mercedes haven't you seen the commercials at Christmas time?
Jet Blue
Excellent video quality Luke .
I don’t use Km or Celsius, but I appreciate you doing that every time, I hate watching videos based in other countries and they say a temp or distance and I have no idea what they are talking about lol.
Not many countries who use imperial system anymore.
Ignore that haters, jealousy will get them nowhere. Keep being yourself.
Sasquatch. They took off. Look up the "torn up camp". There was some folks that some bad stuff happened to campers, in the big thicket in Texas
I was thinking the same thing! They may have had a Sasquatch encounter and fled!!! But if they just left there stuff behind just because then they are wrong and shame on them!!
Space alien abduction...maybe just local aliens.
It probably was a Sasquatch I had an encounter with my wife a few years ago it charged us coming out of nowhere this hairy ape was fast like Michael Jackson in 86 luckily my wife was getting fat and I pushed her down never looked back
I enjoy watching the rain fall
Crazy storm Luke, thank you for the adventure my friend 👊stay safe, stay well👍✌️
I like watching him !
I so enjoy your videos. Love it when Susie goes along. You both have such a great positive attitude. Love the winter ones the best.
I like this camera much better. Great clarity and crispness!
Watching this guy in comparison to a lot of our Canadian neighbors/uploaders... you notice a difference.
Opening track was fire! Great selection! Also I work in auto claims and I wish people took half as much care as you do driving in these types of conditions.
The drip drip of the raindrops falling makes for a good night sleep 10 hour video.
LOL at this guy. "ATTACKED BY AN ICE STORM." *rains*
Very bright and clear.
"You have to be careful out in the middle of nowhere" - Yep, that's why my 12 gauge shotgun accompanies me out in the bush every time.
I love thunderstorm footage..
I must say, I did notice a different quality on the videos, and I love how crisp, light and accurate the colours are. Must be a great camera ! ;)
Also, as others have pointed out: impressed by how good content you push out on a regular basis. Keep up the great work !
Love that you use metric system for distance; degrees as an European !
Camera footage is very clear.Nice high definition, color is fine.👍
I had a chuckle when I saw on the screen “double nasty” coffee! Love it!
The camera is perfect I enjoyed that camera it brings the image out real good then the last one thank you Luke or make me happy I am watching you can’t thank you again your friend valerie from Charleston South Carolina
Dumping gear because it weighed to much to hike out with? People are such morons. Thanks for another fun adventure, Luke!
Great camera. HD with great color. Couldn't ask for more.
I paused at 2:44 - My prediction, having read the description: NH tent’s toothpick poles will never stand up to ice, and Luke bails when it starts raining icicles.
Great channel! Very interesting.
Here's a suggestion for a tent review: McKinley Easy Up3 (2 person, automatic deploy tent)
Seeing that trash in the woods reminds me of the video @bluegabe and @kellyyoung put up about all of the trash in the ocean, the Indian with the tear streaming down his cheek from the commercial in the late 70’s about pollution really hit me hard. It’s so heartbreaking to see how people treat our Mother Earth.
Your right, but have no fear. Mother Earth will always have the last laugh ; floods, tornados, earthquakes, and so on.
By far the best video on the internet
When I saw the abandoned campsite my first thought was "they are planning to come back" rapidly followed by "they're not nice people to leave this garbage" then "seems they think they're all alone up here". Added up that equals meth-heads. Even with protection I'd be FTS- I'll find someplace else to set up for the night. Better to avoid fools than to have to deal with them.
I would check & see if anyone was reported missing in that general area.
It looked like it was abandoned in a hurry.
I was thinking bear attack.
So true, could be meth heads or dopers.
my immediate thought was homeless when he came up on it
@@Ez77-f9i jeez people sometimes leave mess, it’s not nice but it doesn’t necessarily mean drug addicts, missing people or other grim stuff, sure it’s good to plan ahead but everyone replying here seems to think it’s gospel that it’s definitely bad stuff
Luke I'm so glad I found your channel again. I lost my old account that I used to watch constantly. These storm and weather ones are my favorite.
Could you please share the details on your Chest Pack? I also like using a chest pack with my back pack. Always enjoy your videos...thank you!!!!
This is by far the best chanel on You Tube, you make us all feel like we are with you, Im sure your Son and Daughter and Suzy are richly blessed by you, yep I know your not perfect , but a big thanks for letting us , the public tag along , Its awsome
Thank you for your honesty on the products we need straight talk instead of getting ripped off all the time!! God bless your certainly a blessing
Even if there’s a chance of a thunderstorm, I’ll load a chainsaw and fuel in the truck.

Stealth campers, the unknown presence in the woods, unseen, unheard, unsmelled. No fire, no cooking, dry rations only, ground tarp, low profile, They challenge nature, survival is the victory.
Every time Luke sits by the fire and talks to the camera I have a habit of looking over his shoulders to see if there’s an animal or another human being creeping up behind him.
Camera quality was excellent .. Rain / snow / ice That's why they call it an adventure .
I'm used to quality footage on this channel. It's difficult to tell a difference from usual.
Get home safely. Loving your music more each time.
The site he came upon looked like a junkie incampment
I have a nature hike 2p backpacking tent that I have has since 2016 and have never had an issue. It keeps me dry and I completely trust it. I feel like it is great quality.
Awesome adventure Luke, I never miss one!! I live vicariously through you!!! Camera quality is excellent, are you in bigfoot country? Strange how someone would dump such awesome camping gear..
I thought the same thing that Bigfoot scared them off. There were some quality items left like the small hatchet and the black rope seemed to be of mountaineering quality.
Yes! I thought the same.. nice hatchet, lots of good looking cordage, they even left their tent behind.. wonder what the heck happened?!
Even Montreal steak seasoning 😂
Picture is fantastic......that chest bag is the shiiiizzznit
Do you ever plan on making full meals again? I loved camping cooking but just adding water isn’t very exciting.
I agree, I loved the cooking
“It’s been raining quite a bit out here” then you notice the light pond his tent was on. Also I love your attitude towards weather, I’m the same way. It’s the experience, both from the situation and your own past experience. I do camping/bushcraft stuff all the time when it rains or snows just to improve my techniques.
The camera seems to have great low-light capabilities!
I love survival's last laugh!...
Glad youmade it out of there safely!
That’s some great sleeping rain but you need to get the heck out when daylight come!!
Hard to imagine better quality vid than that. 🇮🇪.
Come on man, you could have done an hours clean up at that site and that would have made some difference.
No excuses for the people who left that site like that, but you had the means to tidy the place up and at least have centralised the garbage.
Payback would have been new ownership of the abandoned axe, which could have come in handy for additional protection and the ropes and lines for sure could have been utilised. Expected better from you. Don’t just test the equipment, test yourself too!
I feel like centralizing it wouldn't do much as he obviously couldn't afford to carry more on such a long hike and eventually the weather would scatter it every which way again.
@@akkiko : Sorry, but that’s just a justification for doing nothing.
The written and the unwritten rule in the wildness or on the hill, don’t litter; then it is clean up if you can and assist by removal if possible, especially plastics. The amount of equipment as well as trash at this site, could never be justified in just doing nothing!
Steady on, there, Joe, you clearly haven't watched the following episode (here: m.ua-cam.com/video/exyn158MJu0/v-deo.html) where he explicitly talks about how he went back there - when he wasn't on foot & alone, running from dangerous weather - & took everything away.
@@mysterylovescompany2657 : Glad to hear that he went back and did the right thing. Unfortunately, I can only comment on what I have seen and heard. I raised it as an issue because it was the perfect opportunity to highlight what should be done by anyone coming across similar abuse of the countryside.
Hi, I am watching this in June 2022. When you mentioned how quiet it was there except for the jet flying over head, a plane flew over our house just after you said that. Funny. Felt like I was sharing your experience. The good thing about this kind of weather is that no one else is out. So you can drive slow and careful without being tailgated and able to take wide turns as needed. Thanks for sharing
Be Careful Luke 🤗🤗
Better image quality than the last. Good video.
