    I could definitely use one to broadcast ice melt or calcium chloride on the driveway and sidewalks during the winter.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому +1

      I almost tried using mine for that this winter, but decided I didn't want to risk salt residue mixing with grass seed. If you use it for both I'd clean it out really well or maybe get one for each application.

      @@DoresoomReviews We don’t have grass along side the driveway and I do have a separate hand crank broadcaster for grass seeds.

    Nice review. I might pick one up if my Scott’s ever breaks.

      I looked at the Scott's too. For $25 vs $40 that I got the Ryobi for, I decided the Ryobi with rechargeable batteries was worth it.

    I would like to see it have a edge blocker on it so it doesn’t spray so wide when walking property line

      The lever on the front kind of helps with that, but I agree it would be nice to narrow the broadcast pattern down even more.

    Zero is likely for storage with material still in the hopper.

      Good point - or maybe for transport to where you'll be broadcasting to avoid any inadvertent activation.

    Not recommend, my one was broken as the fertilizer can cause quite severe corrosion and rust if a small amount water or moisture accumulate. Opened and found the seized shaft and damaged plastic gears.

    Could you use with Lime Powder?

    What about the settings? How do you know what rate per 1000 sqft you’re throwing seed?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  6 місяців тому +1

      You can't determine that with a handheld spreader because there's no feedback for how fast you walk. With a wheeled broadcaster they can tie it into the wheel RPM and provide more exact coverage numbers.

    could I use this for sidewalk salt in the winter?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  9 місяців тому +1

      I think it would work fine for that, but I wouldn't use the same one for grass seed next year.

    zero setting is mean for mixing

      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      Maybe, but I don't think the agitator will do a very good job at mixing.

    Too bad that 'sunday' brand seed is.......we'll i'll say, 'not very good at all' good luck with the inert matter and weed seeds you just spread everywhere.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      I used it last year too and didn't have a problem with excess weeds. What brand do you usually use?

    Garbage tool. Chute clogged and wouldn’t close after 1 use. I’ve had 2 and they both did the same thing.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      I've used mine for two seasons now, never had the chute clog a single time. Although I have seen quite a few Home Depot reviews claiming it clogs up easily. I've only used grass seed in mine, usually on setting 3. Were you spreading grass seed or something else?

      Clean it in hot water opening and closing shoot. Obviously take battery out and then blow out with air compressor. Have been doing it to mine daily use it multiple hours a day for a few months now.
