Thanks for the guides, Quazii! I am having a great, relaxing time taking things at my own pace, but also enjoying discovering efficient ways to do things like figuring out what to create in workshops based on supply/demand. I already can't wait for more content expansions! This may just be my favorite side content they have ever created.
There are multiple people in my FC who burned themselves out by trying to optimize everything on the island. I don't see the point in trying to be optimal with it. I think the island is perfect to enjoy at a leasurely pace. People act like it's some kind of bad thing that needs to be dealt with as quickly as possible. Kinda defeats the purpose imo.
While I agree and I don't see the point in min-maxing it either, I'm fine with letting others do as they want. What I don't want to hear, however, is people complaining that there's nothing left to do or that they've accomplished everything there is to do after a weekend just because they chose to binge the content in a couple of days. If you choose to do slow paced leisurely content with a spread-sheeted, community sourced, break neck pace and blast through it all in the blink of an eye, that's not the fault of the content, that's your fault for doing it that way.

Today I realized I get half a level just from passives alone anyways, so why should I force myself to ruin the fun? Now I just gather what I need for crafts and market stuff :) A few of my friends and static members meanwhile have completely no-life'd it and are rank 9 right now, all just frustrated and bored and complaining in discord and linkshell constantly. Sure, it's their choice, but as someone who was very close to falling into the same pitfall, I just feel sorry for them that what was supposed to be a fun, relaxing side content turned into a frustrating grind for them instead.

I found out that nodes respawn in order after you go through a certain amount, because there was one small area filled with rocks and palm trees that I went through, and as I circled back around to do the rocks again, every time I gathered at one node, the one in front of me would respawn.
You can also see it in the two underwater areas very clearly. You seem to clear out the entire area, until you go back to where you started to see the nodes started to appear again.
I figured this out gathering things from the seafloor. I thought "Oh, I'll just gather these to clear them out, go mine my copper then come back to get more while the copper respawns". NOPE, the nodes were respawning while I was gathering them lol. You can also do this in the Peak area (lower right of the map); there are a bunch of trees and bushes on a hill with copper nodes along the ridge. So if you need a ton of copper, it's a good route to go on.
Admittedly, I played too many games where petting actually does something or at least indicates mood so I completely glossed over the part where it tells you petting does nothing. Lol. That explains why all my animals are unhappy, cuz I can't make the good feed, yet. Lol. Last night, I discovered a gathering loop for limestone and I was so happy, lol. I was just running the loop while my static gathered for the new extreme fight. Also, you can accept party invites while on your island so you don't have to leave or do anything special when it's raid time.
Quick question, anybody figure out what the landmarks do yet? I did read that they grand a boost of some kind. There ain't really a way to check what boost each individual one grands
One thing I discovered is that landmarks affect Groove. Every time your workshop completes a 'efficient combo' craft, you earn one point of Groove for the whole island. Groove points increase the sale value of crafted goods. Groove resets every Tuesday, but the way that landmarks help is that your cap on Groove is 10x number of completed landmarks. It's a good idea to do lots of quick combo crafts early in the week to get max Groove, then do longer more valuable crafts once your Groove is up.
There are weekly challenges for 100 gathered items and 20 produced crafts, both awarding 1000 seafarer cowries. They are in the Other category (formerly Eureka category.)
You can review the status of the pet. If they need to be fed or if they have leaving for you. The NPC associated with the pen will tell you. You just have to click "review." That's available on the crop NPC too.
Whenever I lock onto a target when gathering a node it changes to whatever node I'm closest too even though I already have one selected, taking me to an undesirable node. How do I fix this?
Hot tip. If you have a ranged physical class (bard, dancer, mechinist) peloton stacks with island sprint. You don't need to waste time mounting at all.
Sprint works underwater, so you can swim faster when gathering in those areas. In fact, if you use the special on screen Sprint prompt, you can _spam_ Sprint. It will become available again before it wears off, so can always have Sprint up.
Correction about the full pen. You can actually catch more with a full pen. If you capture it successfully, the pasture menu opens and you can choose an animal to release so you can add in the newly captured animal.
@@raeyon8261 Okay, I'll remove that part, then. But I swear I had at least 15 fails to capture when I had a full pen. I released one, and immediately got a capture on my next try.
few tips: - cheat on watering plants: use the rare mob schedules which requires rain weather, then simply zone to island on that window - insta plant watering! - capturing rares: this is just a mere suggestive method, but... NIN with "Hide", got me caught every rares with way less hassle. lol
When looking for an actual guide I'm level eight and I would strongly suggest working on your production facilities first which means expanding your land first from there your second priority would be your garden and your third priority is pasture
Quick question, I noticed on the island your mount speed is already really fast, does the Fenrir still give the hidden movement buff on the island making you even faster on the island?
I learned that the thing I want to buy first before anything else is locked behind Rank 10 and cost 24,000 Seafarer's Cowries, so I'll have to save up quite a lot before I can buy it! But when the time comes, that Garlond GL-II motorcycle will be well worth it!
I've reached max lvl on my island but the vendor stuff hasn't changed I don't understand why not? I was under the impression that as u lvled up u were supposed to get rewards unless I've misunderstood everything
i like to have 'Interact' bound to one of my mouse side buttons so its easy to press rather than just reaching for Num 0, or having to mouse over and click the interaction object
I'm happy to say the only mistake I made? Was thinking petting did something. I was convinced it helped my animals acclimate to being penned up. Make them friendlier towards me. The rest of these? Honestly... I feel they're just logical. I no-life'd my sanctuary hard for two straight days and noticed the nodes respawning behind me within the first eight hours. I noticed capture chances were utterly batshit insane, and random. All in all, I'm glad I didn't make many of these mistakes. Especially the cowries one.
@@KMCA779 Yeah. I got lucky and got two standard chocobos today while only wasting one net. Its absolutely crazy how whacky the capture system is. Probably my only gripe, really.
There is a sweet spot for farming island vines and it's not the location on the item gather map. The sweet spot has 8 ish vine in one little area, just split between the small river leading to the north.
@@MerDuke okay you know the lake like 30 feet from the exit of home sweet hideaway? hop in lake got past the limestone quarry to the north follow river north. There'll be 2 clay deposits on your exit for the sugarcane on the east side... bit south and west from that on other bank is the cabbage seeds
I don't understand why everyone had this idea that the nodes would respawn on a timer. Unspoiled nodes being the exception to the rule, every other gathering node in the whole game respawns once you've hit a certain number of other nodes.
Just a heads up: Did my second set of 'Leavings' today and ended up getting two items off one animal. Had a Coblyn give a Fang and Carapus at the same time. They were still 'sad' and only fed apples the day before. Not sure if just by chance or might be tied to something yet.
I only made 1 mistake. that was buying a farmers straw bed thinking it was for decorating my cozy hideaway.... boy was I wrong so when I realized this, I immediately put it up for 1mil on market board and luckily, I was able to recover. now I'm rank 9 and upgraded my last granary so now I only need to worry about saving up 3k seafarer's cowrie for the final island sanctuary unlock until they decide to do anymore advancements with it. which will give me plenty of time to farm for seafarer cowrie. oh, side note make sure you talk to that cathood mammet and some other mammet cause one will give you 5k seafarer cowrie while the other will start a little questline to a glamour unlock be mindful those you must have every building fully upgraded and have unlocked the last building plot and put down the last building.
you musst be on the island and have rainy weather there, my fc mates kept complaining about how often it rained and when i checked on my crops later during sunny weather the earth was half dry
I'd still like to see them change the node respawn pattern for the island specifically. With other gathering it's good, but with the island it feels super stressful and also really tedious. So personally I'd like the items to have a way longer respawn timer, but give significantly more items/exp when gathered. At least for me, right now this feels way more compulsive instead of side content, with how it's asking for tons of materials to make/upgrade buildings and how little island exp you get from gathering.
I dont know if i am extremly lucky but when i try to catch an animal i always slow walk behind it and then use the net Until now it never failed It got me thinking that when my first catch failed the game told me "the animal got alerted to your presence" or something like that so i thought "ok sneak behind them it is" Has someone similar experiences?
@@QuaziiFFXIV 2500+ hours in i still discover basic QOL in this game. lol i actually finished shadowbringers before i discovered there is a hotkey for confirmation. so i need not click on the screen to progress text boxes and easy node targeting. anyway, thanks for the macros!
Mistake #8: don’t build 2 granaries as your 3rd and 4th building. They costs scripts to send out expeditions. It’s better to get a third workshop instead. Mistake #9 don’t forget to upgrade your workshops, granaries, and cozy cabin. You can do that by walking up to the wooden sign and at new levels you can upgrade them using new materials.
Actually you do want to build Granaries pretty early, there are materials needed to upgrade your buildings to level 3 that can only be obtained through the Granary missions so getting at least a few of those going will help you later. but getting to 3 workshops as fast as you can will help you get the currency needed to unlock more of your island so its a toss up at the earliest you can/should get your granaries set up.
@@pertown i know what is needed to get the Granary and Workshop to stage 3, I don't know if it changes or just requires more to stage 4, but the workshop needs Raw Island Garnet and the Granary needs Island Spruce Logs (both need 3 for their level up per building)
Mistake #10 Randomly queueing up Handicrafts! Instead pay attention to the tags to properly chain efficiency bonuses, plus try to make stuff with increasing demand.
That's not necessarily true. I did two granaries, started sending out expeditions. When I hit level 7 I was only 44 blue short of leveling the new area and making a third workshop, which only meant an hour wait for a shipment to sell. It actually worked out pretty well.
My guy, the actual text for "Petting Animals" is "While your soul may experience rejuvenation from patting happy animals, this has no practical effect on gameplay" Also for #6 - There are 3 types of spawns for rares. There are Eorzea Time spawns, there are Weather spawns, and there are ET+Weather spawns. So even if you wanted to catch some rares at certain times/weater, you really couldn't.
I got an error with Macro number 1.. Der Unterbefehl [Kommandoname] an der 1. Stelle des Textkommandos (Insel-Sprint) ist fehlerhaft. What to do there?
Mistake#1: Ya, normal gathering works the same way, though the node # is 5 I think for respawning. Mistake #6: I wouldn't say thinking something could change capture rate is a totally wild assumption considering I went 1/43 on a regular lamb lol. Mistake #7: Luckily I decided not to spend on anything but upgrades.
The nodes time spawner I knew from gathering so much in world ouitside of Islad sanctuary for 3 years hahaha it;s cute how you were like that, sorry you waited
I didn't know the Ornery Karakul was a rare spawn. :o Found one almost immediately, caught it too. I don't macro move buffs between nodes, though. It's usually just something for me to do while I watch videos or the like - and even then, only so I have enough mats for my workshops' cycles. I might be the odd duck here, though.
I don't understand why you said you bought a piece of gear to test how it works. We've been able to buy gear with lots of different currencies, how would that be any different?
I'm rank 8 and got well established workshops I'm producing 2k crowies a day allready unlocked all the pasture and garden upgrades only one left is the final area witch I hope unlocks at rank 9 at rank 8 you can harvest anything on the island and make max tier facility's
#1 : Standard gathering node behaviour, just the number of nodes is higher (10 vs 3) #2 : Island Sanctuary isn't about efficiency :P Terrain features such as rocks, trees and cliffs will make the macro a pain to use. Also, if you forget to push the macro button, you will never move to another node... (and pushing a button was the whole reason for the macro) #6 : You can also try to catch animals from behind, to make them less aware of you and give you more chances... or so I thought.. (Still doing it though, for RP reasons :P) #7 : If somehow you managed to deadlock yourself out of an upgrade, you can rank up and gain cowries that way, by gathering, then crafting restraints and then catching (and releasing) animals. Also a tip: every time you rank up, check your crafting menu, as well as mammets and building markers. Mammets might give you upgrades or expansions, and buildings get an option to renovate them to the next tier. If you get new tools, check any nodes that previously only gave 1 item. Like if you get the shovel, dirt mounts now also give clay (on land) and tin sand (submerged), and some small plants can be dug up to get seeds. (For bigger plants you need the scythe.) Another tip: make sure you have room in your pasture before going out on a rare hunt :P
Or you can just check tools and the manage hideaway button... items that are upgradeable will have a review mats button... I think I just got a fishing harpoon at rank 7 for the dive nodes
Nodes work the same way in island sanctuary than outside, however outside its 4-5 nodes iirc, you can even just touch the node opening the UI but not gathering it and move, it will reset the #6. Regarding the macros, I don't know if this is new or w/e but, you don't need to use macros to use the actions, both are in the general tab on the job actions. The macro shown here works when there's no obstacles, if you find an obstacle it's gg, you need to reset it etc. can get messy About petting, MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN here i am petting my animals thinking it'd improve their mood just to find out feeding them food from the crops is the wae.
I live in California we follow PDT time. My server reset is at midnight and not at 1:00AM. example my next sever reset will be Tuesday Dec 27, 2022 at 0:00 midnight, and in real life it will be midnight for me on all my PC clocks and other clocks and watches , and cell phones. Are you sure you don't mean to say Midnight and not 1:00AM PDT?
this whole discussion on playing optimal wouldn't be a thing if resources etc. weren't gated. this promotes the feeling of having to make a spreadsheet & avoid "mistakes". now it's a "mistake" if i want to buy a certain glamour and if i don't be aware in advance i'll later regret that i bought something.
The problem is people are trying to rush this island. Chill. Take your time. It's fine to spend your money on the glamours as soon as you can but it would just mean it's going to be longer for you to get your island done. I mean, patch 6.2 just came out three days ago. And people are trying to clear the island in one day. Again... CHILL. lol

Anyone that leveled gathering shouldn't be surprised by how the nodes respawn. It's the same mechanic as in the rest of the game.
Except gathering it not between so many and at least you can get more items per node. God I wish there an upgrade to get 2 per node right now.

I released one, and immediately got a capture on my next try.
good prompt, thanks for the inputs - ill write that down
few tips:
- cheat on watering plants: use the rare mob schedules which requires rain weather, then simply zone to island on that window - insta plant watering!
It feels that way, yes
@@QuaziiFFXIV ugh, I haven’t finished my Bozja riding maps yet either so coupled with this, I guess it’s time for me to finally buy it xD
I learned that the thing I want to buy first before anything else is locked behind Rank 10 and cost 24,000 Seafarer's Cowries, so I'll have to save up quite a lot before I can buy it! But when the time comes, that Garlond GL-II motorcycle will be well worth it!
The macro is absolutely game changer, thank you!
I went through so many of the T2 nets to catch a chocobo. I was starting to get a bit angry
@@KMCA779 Yeah. I got lucky and got two standard chocobos today while only wasting one net. Its absolutely crazy how whacky the capture system is. Probably my only gripe, really.
The game actually mentions that petting does nothing but make you feel good in the tutorial for it.
This was really informative. It'll really be useful for me when I get to the Island Sanctuary.
Thx for putting this up 😊
Does the landmark you build matter?
This guide was so useful! Thank you!
There is a sweet spot for farming island vines and it's not the location on the item gather map. The sweet spot has 8 ish vine in one little area, just split between the small river leading to the north.
Do you have coords?
@@MerDuke It's the sugar cane spawns north of the cabbage seeds
@@Ladywizard i did stumble upon them once, i felt like i struck gold.. i also stumbled upon a cluster of copper stones, but i can;t remember where ;w;
@@Ladywizard thanks!
Not sure if just by chance or might be tied to something yet.
good feedback, let me write that down to look into
apple feed will only get them to content(white cloud) status higher is crop feed
I'll watch this in a couple days, I wanna make all mistakes first
Mistake #1. Being on a server that wont let you get to island Sanctuary cause server load.
Do shiny animals give special rewards or increased rewards?
As someone who hasn't started on Island Sanctuary this will be helpful but I am not so sure if I can resist step 7 xD
6:00 that one guy with 100k hours on ff14: is “earth time” a new thing in 6.2 I checked all the settings and can’t find it 🤔
I only made 1 mistake. that was buying a farmers straw bed thinking it was for decorating my cozy hideaway.... boy was I wrong so when I realized this, I immediately put it up for 1mil on market board and luckily, I was able to recover. now I'm rank 9 and upgraded my last granary so now I only need to worry about saving up 3k seafarer's cowrie for the final island sanctuary unlock until they decide to do anymore advancements with it. which will give me plenty of time to farm for seafarer cowrie. oh, side note make sure you talk to that cathood mammet and some other mammet cause one will give you 5k seafarer cowrie while the other will start a little questline to a glamour unlock be mindful those you must have every building fully upgraded and have unlocked the last building plot and put down the last building.
love your videos keep it up .
Great tips and thanks for the macros. Now using them. :)
When you poke some of your minions that are roaming around, they also interact with you
Question: Does weather still help to water your crops when you are away from your island?
you musst be on the island and have rainy weather there, my fc mates kept complaining about how often it rained and when i checked on my crops later during sunny weather the earth was half dry
if no one is in the island, the island is in offline
@@WhyrenGP On that note, is the weather synced across every player's instance then?
@@Tachynon at least across the dc yeah
I NEEDED the chest piece!
I agree, it feels way to grindy to be relaxing. I like you idea of less spawns but more items per spawn.
There are no mistakes, Only moments of learning.
I dont know if i am extremly lucky but when i try to catch an animal i always slow walk behind it and then use the net
Until now it never failed
It got me thinking that when my first catch failed the game told me "the animal got alerted to your presence" or something like that so i thought "ok sneak behind them it is"
Has someone similar experiences?
Here's my question Quazil:
What are the unlocks you get at each Island Sanctuary level?
my pets have leavings but I cannot gather them....
can you hotkey the special actions in the island?
Could have sworn I saw the actions under the general tab - I’ll double check (:
@@QuaziiFFXIV 2500+ hours in i still discover basic QOL in this game. lol
i actually finished shadowbringers before i discovered there is a hotkey for confirmation. so i need not click on the screen to progress text boxes and easy node targeting.
anyway, thanks for the macros!
@@greggreyes6869 most welcome :D
imo play as physical ranged, roll action Peloton can help a bit too
Mistake #8: don’t build 2 granaries as your 3rd and 4th building.
@@mattwood3105 would you happen to know which rare materials those are? So I know where to send the expeditions?
My guy, the actual text for "Petting Animals" is "While your soul may experience rejuvenation from patting happy animals, this has no practical effect on gameplay"
Also for #6 - There are 3 types of spawns for rares. There are Eorzea Time spawns, there are Weather spawns, and there are ET+Weather spawns. So even if you wanted to catch some rares at certain times/weater, you really couldn't.
I just got to rank9 at 4.10pm est today and it's only day4 of release
I thought the leavings would be on the ground
i guess i wasn't the only one expecting picking poop from the floor......
the run macro is a lifesaver, such a QoL
My wish list has 2 things on it. 1) Real fishing 2) Keybind the different Modes from the Isle Index.
I got an error with Macro number 1..

@@N00bie666 yea but how? In german it is not DUty Action, its something else but i dont mknow what.
@@N00bie666 i found it now, its "Spezialkommando 1 in german.

Is rank 10 the max level or?
Another pro tip is you can make a substantial amount of money if you just pay attention to the workshop and the demand
My first mistake was soending all my cowries to buy an orchestrion roll..
I'm rank 8 and got well established workshops I'm producing 2k crowies a day allready unlocked all the pasture and garden upgrades only one left is the final area witch I hope unlocks at rank 9 at rank 8 you can harvest anything on the island and make max tier facility's
#1 : Standard gathering node behaviour, just the number of nodes is higher (10 vs 3)
#2 : Island Sanctuary isn't about efficiency :P Terrain features such as rocks, trees and cliffs will make the macro a pain to use. Also, if you forget to push the macro button, you will never move to another node... (and pushing a button was the whole reason for the macro)
#6 : You can also try to catch animals from behind, to make them less aware of you and give you more chances... or so I thought.. (Still doing it though, for RP reasons :P)
#7 : If somehow you managed to deadlock yourself out of an upgrade, you can rank up and gain cowries that way, by gathering, then crafting restraints and then catching (and releasing) animals.
(For bigger plants you need the scythe.)
Another tip: make sure you have room in your pasture before going out on a rare hunt :P
Or you can just check tools and the manage hideaway button... items that are upgradeable will have a review mats button... I think I just got a fishing harpoon at rank 7 for the dive nodes
Ooh. Those macros are so useful! Thanks.
The macro shown here works when there's no obstacles, if you find an obstacle it's gg, you need to reset it etc. can get messy
About petting, MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN here i am petting my animals thinking it'd improve their mood just to find out feeding them food from the crops is the wae.
Are you sure you don't mean to say Midnight and not 1:00AM PDT?
you know you play top much pokemon when thinking of catch rates and the mumbo Jumbo attached
I'm a veteran, still those macros help a lot, thanx!
this whole discussion on playing optimal wouldn't be a thing if resources etc. weren't gated. this promotes the feeling of having to make a spreadsheet & avoid "mistakes". now it's a "mistake" if i want to buy a certain glamour and if i don't be aware in advance i'll later regret that i bought something.
The only thing worth spending cowries on is the bike for me. The other things pale in comparison.
I fed my animal and gathered some claws next day from it. Good tips quazii.
I made the spending your island currencies mistake and now I'm trying to make the money back not gonna make that mistake again
wish id seen this before i bought the island minion 😭😭 now i have no money to upgrade till my workshop stuff sells
Oooh that was super helpful. Glad there are smart people playing this game able to figure these things out quickly xD
the biggest mistake about island sanctuary - I got addicted
i literally spent my 4k cowries on a barding and i immediately regretted it because now i’m bottle necked
The problem is people are trying to rush this island. Chill. Take your time. It's fine to spend your money on the glamours as soon as you can but it would just mean it's going to be longer for you to get your island done. I mean, patch 6.2 just came out three days ago. And people are trying to clear the island in one day. Again... CHILL. lol

if you know gathering in FF14 the first 2 you're actually used to already and should be fine with island gathering.
Currently ALL crops take 48 hours to grow, ALL of them.
Actually I've noticed it's not "48 hours" it's "2 1 am resets from planting if watered"
