I’m also glad that the TB logo doesn’t feature on accessories anymore. I think Burberry struggled with the logomania era and that TB was a sign of how lost they were. Exciting times are ahead for the brand and hopefully they will see the “commercial success” they seek.
I don't think Burberry is going to do any better under Daniel Lee.. but I could be wrong. I really liked the RTW that came out of Burberry under Ricardo Tisci. The Burberry Outlets always had most of the RTW at 50%-65% off retail. Beautiful Clothing 🙄💗
This is off topic but Id love to explore Mamma Thorp's collection. What was her first piece she bought with the intention of passing down to Cassie and (possible) grandchildren. I love how they both combine class with a edge in their styles 😍
I might be the minority, but I hated what Daniel Lee did to bottega. As I gather he's pretty egoistic and uncompromising character, and while his new direction was a commercial (or shall I say social media) success, it alienated old fans by completely scrapping old lines and also undermined the identity as a craftsmanship forward brand. The big basket weave might have looked cooler but requires less craftsmanship and loses its shape (as well as pencils and small objects) easily; shoes were often (especially that with telephone cord) logistical nightmare; Thier man's wear were notorious for structurally awkward in real life. I think there should be a good reason for him to get unceremoniously fired after mere 2-3 seasons despite making lots of money for the brand. I hope he learned his lesson a bit, and does not repeat the same mistake for Burberry. It's too good a heritage brand to fuck up.
Here’s my take. Tisci was a designer that was good at “creating” an identity and we saw that with Givenchy with the Rottweiler and Bambi and the Givenchy stars. It was simply a matter of hiring the wrong person with Tisci at Burberry. Burberry already had a rich history and a very well-known identity with the iconic check, trench coats, and the EKD. Instead of banking on Burberry’s history, Tisci tried to add to that identity which was this young and hip image of the brand which didn’t really match with Burberry’s aesthetic. Daniel Lee, however, seems to be a better fit. With his time in BV, it looks like he likes to take what the brand already known for and go from there. He took BV’s iconic weave and focused on growing that space. Seeing his first collection where he brought the EKD back to life and had it front and centre and also banking on the iconic check and adding some British inside humour in the collection makes me think he’ll do a good job at Burberry.
I've always been a fan of Burberry and I'm excited for the Daniel Lee Era. Taking the TB off the bags is a great start...Tory Burch has that on lock...this collection is a mood and looks cozy and warm. I'll be watching.
I feel like to, for most people (me included) Burberry became synonymous with the trench coat and the recognizable scarfs, but that was it. It always seemed a bit old money yet also "boring," albeit in a "classic-style-this-is-beautiful" way. Now more than ever, people seem to either want to look "old money" or to express/differentiate themselves in the loudest possible way, so they'll have to decide to whom they'll cater...or, somehow, do both. Something tells me Daniel Lee might be able to pull off such a combination.
My husband had a British coworker say "ah good weather for ducks" one rainy day and it is still to this moment, one of my favorite phrases I've ever heard.
I see this as a promising start. When I was in my early 20’s (and yes I am 47) Burberry was the sexiest in outwear. And then it became “popular”. I agree that Burberry needs to lean into its British roots. Frankly, I would be pulling British actors from all backgrounds and do more with that. The Burberry instagram push was very well done.
I'm actually sad that there isn't anything really reminiscent of the classic burberry colors or print. I mean, that's what Burberry is known for, and when it's a heritage brand, it needs to be always paid homage. Like LV does, Gucci and Dior. Losing that is a shame,in my opinion. Ciao from Italy bella ❤️
Definitely glad to see that TB logo on the handbags/accessories fade away. I truly only thought Tory Burch when I would see it lol! I have a few ready to wear pieces from Burberry which I love but excited to see some out of the norm pieces from them as well! Folks be sleeping on Burberry though might I add lol!
Wowwww! For context I am 37 and there was a time when having a Nova check scarf, maybe a skirt and a little shopper tote were part of ever girl’s wish list. I remember seeing the TB bags and not knowing who they were 😅 and even feeling a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a lot of Nova check to be seen. I like what I see so far, I hope Burberry can get back to staple status again otherwise people like me seem very old and sentimental when reminiscing about the days when you wore your Burberry skirt to school on civies/dress down day 😂😂
To think Burberry to me was a brand I only purchased their perfumery and a (quite lovely) bag for my Mum. I am really excited about this new collection and what else Daniel Lee has to offer. Someone commented below that this is really giving old & new money in the best British way xx Thanks Cassie ♥
The white rose is the House of York. The Wars of the Roses - the most fascinating period in English history. Great video. They definitely needed a refresh especially in the bags department.
New ring looks gorgeous! I will be very interested to see how Burberry evolves under new creative leadership. I hope it does well. Not a brand I would normally look to for RTW, but I have the requisite trench (it weighs a TON), and am always hopeful heritage brands stay enough near the edge to appeal to each new generation, yet remain classic enough for every taste and aesthetic to find a home. I’ve kept away from their handbags because, as you said, the logo is Tory Burch-ish, a brand I cannot stand for reasons that reveal me as a terrible snob and shall remain undisclosed in order to pretend I’m not. Have a magical weekend, love, and treat NYC to a bit of Cassie. ❤
Happy Friday Cassie. I think Burberry can make a come back. They have longevity on their side. Lets see what Daniel Lee has instore for Burberry. I'm excited. Have a blessed day & weekend. 💞💞💞.
I am 💯% for Burberry, but it's a tough brand to work with. The heritage has always made Burberry consistent. How far do I want it to lean towards innovation, not sure? I wished luxury houses stayed in their lane. Does Burberry really need to do bags? How about instead of a hundred duds they just make one solid piece or leave bags to Hermes. I hope Lee takes what makes Burberry classic and elevates it.
I love Burberry but could not with the TB logo, so I'm happy it was gone. The color palette is right up my street for sure. None of the bags did anything for me at all and I do wish a sneaker had made it in. I'm loving the new logo! Price depending, I could see myself buying a few pieces.
There was no classic Burberry, it felt more like blue version of bottega Veneta! … maybe bcoz of Daniel Lee. I wanted it to be like more British, a bit posh !
I like Burberry particularly for outerwear and boots. I’m looking forward to see what this new direction will bring and hope that they keep the signature plaid throughout the collections.
I love that your Videos are very informative as to what’s is happening to people behind the brands, very insightful and I can see you how you make a lot work to stay updated. Thank you and bravo.
Hi Cassie, 1st time commenter however I’ve been subscribed since you were at your 4-digits-subscribers era. Have you ever thought of doing a podcast ? Editing Cassie has my crying 😆 I'm excited to see the new Burberry I can't stand the TB logo, it made me think Tori Burch cuz who new Burberry's first name 😅
I know I’m very controversial with this opinion, but to me, Burberry never went anywhere I haven’t purchased a bag for Burberry in a number of years but I have been tempted by bags. That plaid is never going to get old to me. I always buy people Burberry scarves as gifts. It’s one of my classic gifts I’m known for. The almost orgasm I have when I see someone’s jacket below open and I see that pattern. I’m happy people are interested in Burberry again because that gives a brand I love a lot more longevity.
I’m excited! I loved Burberry back in the day but then I stopped looking at it cos it all just looked like a rip off of itself. I think this is a great change of direction
Now, I own not one Burberry item. The reason for me? I felt it was waaaay too staid-- (sedate, respectable, and unadventurous)-- for my taste. This? THIS I cannot wait to browse and fantasize how I'd USE a piece with my other lux goods. You said it perfectly-- utilitarian with a little bit of an edge and a whole lot of British. Very excited to see IRL. PS- RE: Serif font- "The calligraphy of it all" GREAT comment. And also, Same.🤓🧐(but can I be the emoji on the left? I think the monocle suits you better, being all English and such) 😉✌🏼
Cousin it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅! Brilliant and well researched commentary Ms Cassie, I think he’s the man for the job. BTW love the jumper you are wearing where is it from?………..🤗🇨🇦
Love the idea of the roses; I’ve been wanting a flower pattern like D&G but still refuse to buy from them. On another note, is that your parents’ home you are recording from? I’m looking over your shoulder coveting the garden as I sit on my postage stamp in California🫤
I’m quite excited to see this new Burberry! I liked Burberry a lot in its Christopher Bailey days actually, and really got turned off during Tisci’s era. Like you, the TB looked like tuberculous to me 😂😂 I welcome return of the prosum knight. Burberry has really been falling behind as a luxury fashion house and i’m looking forward to how it might be revived. This new start of wearable check prints in many colors seems palatable so dar
Good morning beautiful! Well Burberry is one of my favorite brand so I’m here for new ideas, hope I will enjoy whatever style they design. Have yourself a fantastic weekend 🥰🥰🥰.
It didn’t excite me but I did like the introduction of bold colours moving away from neutrals like nude, black and white. I think there’s a lot more to come and I’m excited to see that. I agree though, preferred the men’s pieces. Especially the cobalt blue and white pieces. Need those trousers too!
Font 🤓 nerds unite!!! Yes!!!! I am with you. Let's get back to classics for a while!!! Nova check makes me so happy. LET'S hope it returns to the boutiques customer service 🙏. Lately, it too has been meh.
How do you like your new Tiffany Hardware earrings? How is the weight after wearing them awhile? Do you have the small or larger size (it looks like the larger one)?
well, millions of years ago, back when the TB logo was revealed on Ig I SWEAR my first thought was along the lines of "Tisci's Burberry?! well, Ricardo certainly thinks a lot of himself to be putting one of his initials on the logo of the historic brand he still hasn't shown anything for!" and not "oh! they're putting back Thomas name on the brand!"
Ok, thanks for this review. I would love to see Burberry succeed at providing quality accessories, however, my own personal experience with buying Burberry bags and shoes has been unsuccessful! I bought one pair of shoes and one handbag, both were poorly made, and the shoes were horribly uncomfortable! I have not gone back for more… if accessories are their plan, I would recommend pajamas, hats, scarves, generally things they are good quality. JMO and an FYI! ,
I think Burberry wanted Ricardo Tisci to come in and “Balenciaga” everything. Yes, he worked for Givenchy but what I mean is that they expected Tisci to be able to slap the Burberry name on something and it sells; or, have something so iconic like his Bambi sweatshirt, etc. that it becomes this go to piece. I think Tisci came in trying to reinvent the wheel when it just needed an upgrade. Daniel Lee, in my opinion, is really good about finding the core of the brand. For Bottega, it was the weave and he played on that. For Burberry, it’s the history of the brand. Loved the Yorkshire/English Rose pattern, the check matching sets feel very modern but also feel kind of punk. I could see someone wearing a pair of Doc Martins with those pants. Burberry, forgive me, was trying to go so hard…it was giving me Michael Kors. I said it!!!!! I can see streetwear icons wearing the Daniel Lee collection; I can see Law Roach styling with this brand, I can see Dapper Dan maybe doing something with Burberry, Stormzy and Mel doing something with Burberry. This feel like the next evolution to heritage Burberry.
I am so thrilled Lee brought back the original labeling 🏷 logo. The TB reminded of Tory Burch. This doesn't mean I dislike Tory Burch though. I was just...meh
The TB logo was something that pushed me away from Burberry. I really did not like it. I am liking the collection from Danial Lee so far. I liked DL at BV. I am beginning to feel that I might be following Daniel Lee which ever design house he goes. 😊
I love the colorful check! The blue and the purple!!! Although I still wouldn’t buy a bag from them, there are pieces from this collection I am considering! My favorites looks were the purple dress with the matching tights or were they leggings? (either way I want them 🤗 ), the men’s leather pants especially the look with the blue check oversized coat and matching shoes 🙌🏻 , the blue purple dress that has the swirl rose looking print with the matching purple bag. 👌🏻
As someone with the initials TB, I am conflicted about the logo… definitely makes me think of Tory Burch more than anything. I like Burberry, but it’s not exciting me. I hate to say it! I do believe it’ll always be a classic, but I don’t think it’s at the forefront of most people’s mind when they think luxury - at least not for the moment. That said, I’d love to have a trench! But right now my focus is definitely on summer months ahead.
Great video! So happy to see the knight is back looking better than ever. Wasn’t a fan of the TB whatsoever. I think having an English designer is a very smart move & I am looking forward to following their growth. 😀
My mind also went to tuberculosis with the TB logo lol Great minds haha Also the TB looked a little much like Tory Burch's T logo so that also kind of threw me a little.
Burberry is an amazing brand that i Think soon Will get some magic back. The thing is like u Said balance the history of british culture, but he already is doing that. So i Think its very interesting where is brand Will be in 2 years. All the staff in burberry store near harrods are so excited to whats next to come, they are so sweet and helpfull:) i like brands like that..Im excited to see him give more versions of the trenchcoat.. plus i like the color set match.. Im gonna keep my eyes on their website a bit more❤️
The thing that has put me off Burberry shoes in the past is they're made in China. If I'm spending luxury $$ I expect it to be made in the country of origin.
I think the clothes are stunning. However, the accessories, especially bags that for most brands is the main source of income, are nothing exciting. i mean they are interesting but do not intrigue me or make me wanna buy them.
The quality of Burberry products - other than some of the outerwear (especially the Burberry Prorsum line in the era about 5-10 years ago - stylish and chic) - has just not been there. This is the biggest thing that turned me off of the brand. Just took out one of my old Burberry belts and the hardware is completely spotted and tarnished in a weird way that I’ve never seen with any of my other luxury items, for example. The handbags also suffer from the same inability to compete with the quality of other competitors’ products. For the accessories such as bags and shoes, I feel that they try to charge Gucci or LV range prices for quality that is similar or inferior to Coach or even Polene. I love my Burberry coats and jackets, but unless something revolutionary happens, that’s it for me.
Personally, I don’t find the clothes very appealing so far but I’m interested how they will evolve. I found the styling quite messy and it didn’t feel like luxury to me but who knows maybe the clothes feel and look expensive in really life
you would totally rock the mens pants! but don't get them tailored! the bagginess is what makes them really cool. Also, do you know anything about the intellectual property and contract clauses for these designers? I'm really curious what - if anything - designs can take from one house to the other.
Mark my words ..the must have accessory a Burberry hot water bottle ..I really hope that Burberry can pull away from the rip off copy market which has turned many people off of the brand, me included.
I know it’s not your job, but I would love to hear your take on Brexit. Has it done more harm than good? Any unforeseen consequences or benefits that resulted from this?
I think there’s a commercial element to it while still having a unique pov. Everything at LVMH feels so predictable and stale these days, nice to have another brand that might be genuinely intriguing
I’m also glad that the TB logo doesn’t feature on accessories anymore. I think Burberry struggled with the logomania era and that TB was a sign of how lost they were. Exciting times are ahead for the brand and hopefully they will see the “commercial success” they seek.
Great point!! So excited to see when the collection drops 💖
All I saw was “Tory Burch” with that TB logo
I honestly thought TB was a new brand for way too long 😅
Why I don't like tb IIT is like ysl . By the way Burberry has a better quality than ysl
I agree on the serif font front-- it adds that touch of elegance
Glad you agree 😉💖
My husband had a British coworker say "ah good weather for ducks" one rainy day and it is still to this moment, one of my favorite phrases I've ever heard.
I see this as a promising start. When I was in my early 20’s (and yes I am 47) Burberry was the sexiest in outwear. And then it became “popular”. I agree that Burberry needs to lean into its British roots. Frankly, I would be pulling British actors from all backgrounds and do more with that. The Burberry instagram push was very well done.
Yeah before Tisci they did ads with Eddie Redmayne, Emma Watson and Tom Sturridge
I'm actually sad that there isn't anything really reminiscent of the classic burberry colors or print. Seems very much from your description Burberry will be sending a message of British heritage to bring people back to Burberry.
The white rose is the House of York. The Wars of the Roses - the most fascinating period in English history.
Great video. They definitely needed a refresh especially in the bags department.
New ring looks gorgeous! I will be very interested to see how Burberry evolves under new creative leadership. I hope it does well.
Great commentary ! I’m loving the men’s collection as well. Solid start for DL and Burberry.

i was hooked again in your in depth commentary, very intellectual POV in luxury fashion...💯
Now you’re making me blush!! Glad you liked it 💖💖
Totally agree
That new ring is so pretty 😍 Burberry really is leaning into British culture It’s inspiring me to get me chequered clothing out
I seen a mesh dress from Burberry with their name in crystals spread throughout it. It was pretty beautiful.

I am so thrilled Lee brought back the original labeling 🏷 logo. The TB reminded of Tory Burch. This doesn't mean I dislike Tory Burch though. I was just...meh
First time seeing something interesting from Burberry.. Thanks for the report 😊
The TB logo was something that pushed me away from Burberry. I really did not like it. I am liking the collection from Danial Lee so far. I liked DL at BV. I am beginning to feel that I might be following Daniel Lee which ever design house he goes. 😊
He seems to have the Midas touch!
LOL how you get about serifs, too hilarious, love you.
It's a Cassie Day!! My day is made!! And I have to ask, do we not like Tory Burch? Details please! 🤗💞🤗
Cassie, have you done a review of Chanel or Hermes 2023, or did I miss it! If not, I would enjoy your reviews!😂
The TB... I think Burberry needs a new logo. Definitely.
I used to live to Sheffield few years ago, I did enjoy it!
I got some gorgeous fur-lined slides from Dr Marten literally yesterday. I guess it feels good to finally be on trend.
Loved this! So informative, interesting and....oh so all-around British! ;) 🇬🇧
Burberry is definitely cooler than it was . I never really thought I would buy one of their bags but lately I have myself looking at them.. 😊
So excited to see what’s next for the brand!
Same
As someone with the initials TB, I am conflicted about the logo… definitely makes me think of Tory Burch more than anything.
The only burb I own is my beautiful scarf with red❤’s on it - nothing could ever better that - husband saw me eyes and in we went ❤❤❤❤❤
Ngl I’m kinda excited for Burberry 👀
I love the new Ring ♥️ Lg from Germany
Thank you so much!
❤
I'm HERE for the cobalt blue.
Great video! So happy to see the knight is back looking better than ever. Wasn’t a fan of the TB whatsoever. I think having an English designer is a very smart move & I am looking forward to following their growth. 😀
Cassie, the name of those hats is in your Russian heritage - "ushanka" 😊
So glad to see the TB gone!!!!
Im gonna keep my eyes on their website a bit more❤️
I'm glad to hear that we all disliked the TB. I refused to buy anything with that on it.
Will you also do a video of Nina Ricci under Harris Reed?
I probably won’t do a dedicated one but I’ll cover it in my monthly series 💖💖
I welcome the cobalt 💙
Hello Cassie
LOVE Editor Cassie! XD
😂😂💖
The thing that has put me off Burberry shoes in the past is they're made in China. If I'm spending luxury $$ I expect it to be made in the country of origin.

Your parents house is Beautiful 🌹🦋
After my treatment at the 57th St, Store I will never spend a penny on them ever again.
After working for them I feel the same way. Even wearing the clothes does not feel good anymore, thankfully there's eBay to sell my collection.
I found the styling quite messy and it didn’t feel like luxury to me but who knows maybe the clothes feel and look expensive in really life
I get what you mean - I liked aspects of it but appreciated the change in direction - excited to see the pieces in real life 💖
you would totally rock the mens pants! but don't get them tailored! the bagginess is what makes them really cool. Also, do you know anything about the intellectual property and contract clauses for these designers? I'm really curious what - if anything - designs can take from one house to the other.
You’re right - they’ll look the best baggy! Oohh gosh I wish I knew - my best friend is an IP lawyer so I’ll see if she knows 💖
I just hope that Daniel taps into Burberry's british heritage. Whilst I like his first runway show, it was a little too close to Westwood for me....
Living for this new Burberry🤩🤩🤩
✨trapper hats✨
😂😂😂
I think there’s a commercial element to it while still having a unique pov. Everything at LVMH feels so predictable and stale these days, nice to have another brand that might be genuinely intriguing
Hey Cassie,fashion queen tgif!

@Cassie Thorpe you as well queen 👸!
