@@jennifermcmillan2588 nope.... nope nope nope..... your statement only fool newbie. They only make items for those brands that are popular. WHY>? Fake merchandises appear for poor people who want fame. => It's easy to make "people" mistake that they are wearing popular luxury brands such as LV, Gucci, DG, DSquare, Dior, Chanel, Fendi, Hermes. Nobody care that much if you wear Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood, or Bailman unless these brand have some special popular item (Bailman shoe.... nah not that much). Don't event thinks of quality. They have replica ( super fake), first-class fake, market fake, semi fake.... bla bla bla. You know that the Hermes bag only costs 600~ for the real material. but they sold it up like 5000~. Again don't try to buy fake stuff, somethings you got scammed by fake merchandise. and say hello to the a continent from other parts of the WORLD = CHINA.
@@jennifermcmillan2588 not really! I have a chanel mini square and a friend of mine bought one from a website online and to my (granted untrained) eye they are exactly the same. If anything, hers is more perfect (cos i bought mine preloved) :/
@@nadine.jlp_ I've seen london shops selling secondhand and it's clearly fake because a classic vintage flap isn't going to have brand new white leather corners. That isn't how leather ages.
Fakes have gotten so good. I’m retired from the industry but the last 2 yrs it was very hard to tell, even for the best of the best authenticators. With the price increases and the quality decreases I’m not surprised to see fakes becomming less taboo. I have friends who can afford anything, one friend spent $70K for a very special Birkin, but she now buys replica Birkins that cost around $1,000 and they even smell the same as Hermes leather. It’s uncanny. I am almost feeling like I’ve been scammed for years paying exorbitant prices for luxury goods when they can be had for so much less. 1st world problems.
To be honest. If you produce at cost and remove the logo, the luxury market really isn't that expensive. The mark is about 80% of the actual price. But the fact that you are *esluxscom* buying an image and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing to do
Sorry mate but an actual Chanel classic Flap superfake goes for 600 dollars when purchased directly from the factory and passes at least 5 of your checks. What you have there isn't even midtier *esluxscom*
Right, i commented above how they have been outright disrepectful to POC for decades. Let them get their karma as this disdain is reflected right back at them
But then if one feels disrespected, why not buying a non-brand made with quality and real artisans? One wants the prestige of a logo without paying the banks and complaining the brand doesn’t respect them 😅 A brand is a lifestyle. Buying a fake screams I want to fake a lifestyle while still being poor and making poor ppl choices 😳😫🤦🏽♀️
Is it revenge when the poor stays poor and looking poor? Someone who wears a real Chanel sleeps in a beautiful place, eats at exclusive places, travels luxury etc. Someone who wears fake just takes a photo with a fake purse at a place where no real chanel buyer goes and I think the bottom line is still that these brands are triggering because they tell you that you never will be part of their privileged club. Even buying fakes still tells them you wish you were included in the club
I think if there weren't 60% price jumps in the last 3 years on so many designer bags, fakes wouldn't be as rampant. It's as though, to some extent, certain brands may have shot themselves in the foot for it. But even fakes can increase demand for the originals
I second this the price hikes don’t make sense. Literally they have consumers paying more to buy the same items. The luxe brands did it thinking they were creating “exclusivity” honestly I think it was a slap in the face to loyal costumers. Why should someone who has been shopping the brand for years maybe even decades suddenly pay 50-60% more for the exact same item?? Can’t be justified by inflation. It’s as if the brands are just scamming the consumer. In some cases the items sold are lower quality but being sold at higher prices.
Me literally shopping for fakes for about 10 years now. Gen z as a generation is more open to this conversation but it isn’t enough to justify why they prefer fakes. They’re just honest about it because they can justify it not because they are Gen Z and can’t afford the luxury price lmao. Also since Gen z can be more open about it and the early generations can’t is sort of double standards. Why come here as a Non Gen Z and talk about this exclusively about them as is the other generation is innocent of this deed. To sum it up, this isn’t limited to one generation alone, I honestly believe it exists as early as early Millennials and maybe much earlier than that with all same reasons and indicators.
@Yushrii Lags I think Gen Z is more open because they are in a time when fakes actually look like the original. The sad fakes from back in the day stood out like crazy. You could spot them a mile away. They also see the price increases for what they are... a money grab. Plus, why pay thousands for something these brands are giving to influencers for free. It's just cheapen the whole idea of luxury
There have been a few women who bought from fashion phile in real real who took the bags to the original retailer and the retailer told them that they were fake so they had to return them. So it seems a second hand market can't even tell if they're real or fake.
There is no guarantee that the preloved sites are not flooded with fakes also. This thought has run through my mind and stopped me from buying preloved. Preloved is less expensive, sure, but it still too expensive for a fake and one never knows what they are buying. For that reason I’d rather buy a fake and know I’m not being gouged unnecessarily and without my knowledge. And the new designer brand cost doesn’t even justify the quality or the poor services they offer their customers. They don’t stand behind their own products anymore so why should the consumer? Try getting an $8000 bag repaired by the store you bought it from and find out. It’s a joke and customers are getting savvier by the day.
I’ve had luck on fashionphile but I don’t buy what I don’t know ! I could authenticate LV easily but some things like Prada nylon isn’t as easy … the quality of reps is not up to par tho , it’s good from a distance but in your hand you will know if you know luxury
I have never bought a fake - but a coworker bought a fake LV neverfull and a fake Gucci bucket bag and I could not tell the difference. The neverfull in particular was so well done I doubt any of my friends in the luxury world would have been able to tell. That made me think - honestly - about maybe considering buying one in the future. Especially at these outrageous prices with these outrageous price increases when these lux companies are experiencing record profits..... If these companies don't care about us why should we care about them???? Just thinking about it...
I think this is where it all begins! As the years go on the quality of our favorite luxury brands decrease while the price increases. I feel it’s blatantly disrespectful, its as if they’re saying “we know you’ll buy it anyway”. But heres the twist! You may or may not be surprised to know there are major labels that work with some counterfeit companies… this way they can still profit from both types of customers smh… this is why some of the materials look indistinguishable from the “real”item.
Yes why should we care about them! Its now well known fact that most of these authentic items cost under £500 to make then us paying 700% more!! I also keep the limit now. I will not pay over 3-4k on a single item. Even Hermes is quastionable at £7-8k plus for a ‘bag’. Yes quality and craftsmanship are amazing, but how much does it cost to make it? I don’t even like birkins and kellys (good for me). Another reason carying them attracts theft.
Until the Birkin comes with a strap, I’ll be *esluxscom* . I think yours is the perfect size to go from day-to-night, something the Birkin doesn’t offer; nobody is taking a Birkin to dinner
I'm a millennial, I live in Dubai & make good money. I used to buy authentic bags, and realized that we're getting over charged. Especially for their depreciating value. The fakes have become so good for a fraction of the price, & honestly I get the same feeling from wearing both. As I continue to grow in my career and make more money, I will still refrain from buying real, especially after these constant price hikes. Anyways, to each their own :)
I opted for preloved bags not caring if its authentic or not, just as long it is in real leather. Choosing for a more sustainable root, but being a millenial who still love fashion and its creativity. To be honest, no one where i live even care or knows any of these brands 😅 so it is only very much self care
Until the Birkin comes with a strap, I’ll be *esluxscom* . I think yours is the perfect size to go from day-to-night, something the Birkin doesn’t offer; nobody is taking a Birkin to dinner
While the replica market has heaps of skeletons in its closet, let’s not forget that a majority of these fashion houses have a spotty history as well, ESPECIALLY when considering their supply chains that aren’t actively monitored, and use of high impact materials for the environment. Time and time again these brands rank so low in terms of their ethics (which is literally public information and sugarcoated in their annual reports) - we need to keep the same energy if we want to discuss ethical supply chains and forced/illegal labour
This is so true. I have a friend who worked in a lace manufacturing company in Osaka Japan. One of her biggest clients is Chanel… and she said that, Chanel is labeling their fabics and laces as in made in France when in reality, they are made in Japan. Also, my friend has to go to France twice a year just to ask for payment… yeah, Chanel has to pay their manufacturers in freaking installments. 😊
I know people personally who have so much genuine luxury brands yet they live in their mama house. I own my own home, drive a lexus and i do buy real mid luxury bags but anything over $1000 im getting a *esluxscom* and keeping money in my pocket.
So many ppl are wearing fakes nowadays, including celebs. Fake handbags and fake designer clothing. So many celebs have been exposed for fake luxury items. A lot of ppl rather buy a top quality replica than spend thousands on a material item. They feel that money can go towards investments and growing generational wealth. I, personally, like for my handbags to be authentic. I work hard everyday, I’m a good mother, & I feel I deserve the best. And that means authentic luxury items. But I do not look down or feel indifferent about those that choose to put their money elsewhere. To each his own.
This is for all you accessories obsessed people out there, myself included, only buy a bag or an accessory because you truly love it, no matter how much it costs or if it's coveted. And most of the time, practicality is important too *gtdupe* .
For those that choose to buy fakes; whatever floats your boat. In my opinion, the reasons I’m hearing for buying fakes aren’t enough reasons for me personally to follow suit. It does make me more cautious getting preloved, even with the few resellers I’ve established a relationship that’s helped me get vintage bags. I’ve heard some share they’ve purchased a fake bag to carry when they travel in case it gets stolen. Personally, I don’t like to be gaudy when I travel long distance nor when I’m going to a place I know will attract attention (a favorite hole in the wall food joint that’s in an unsafe neighborhood). I’ve spotted fakes and the people that have them, rock em with pride. I have to say, it’s nice seeing that person strut in confidence because I don’t know their story. I do feel bad for someone that buy a fake isn’t aware it’s a fake and spends x money on it unknowingly. Good topic, Cassie Xx Here’s to being more cautious to those that want to avoid fakes and to those that feel good rockin em. .. Different strokes for different folks ..
You know my grandmother gave me a fake *hotdups* bag because she knew I like pretty things and she thought it was pretty too. I was 22 years old at that time. I really don't care. People thought it was true. When she died 4 years ago. To me, that bag is worth more than any of my bags and jewelry combined. Ignore them. this is precious to you.
The problem is that these luxury companies don’t have the data that proves you are paying for quality/longevity of the items…sometimes I fear that the alternatives (Fakes) have better quality because they’re trying to justify why you should just buy them. I see this time and time again with Chanel, Gucci etc.
Not true. Bottega Veneta stands by its quality by offering lifetime warranty. You are just finding a reason to justify buying replicas. If it is for quality, move to another luxury house or buy a good craftsmanship bag without a luxury brand name. To each their own.
One celebrity stylist admitted that many celebrities wear *esluxscom* . This is nothing new or strange. And many times we see celebrities posing in magazines, and the photos for promotions and advertisements are given by brands or borrowed by themselves.
Great point! I’d like to add on if thats okay. While we’re used to the luxury brands that have been around for a while - this doesn’t mean our money is safe in their hands either. Unfortunately they all have unsavory ties to arms dealing, human trafficking, colonialism, the nazi party, child labor, exploitative labor, slavery…the list goes on. If this aspect of Cassies’ video made your ears perk up - please check out the past and current dealings of your beloved brand and see if thats somewhere youd like to spend your money. Balenciaga being a very recent scandal might be easy to start there ❤
So agree with you. In my opinion, her point about this seemed very biased from her perspective of being able to buy, keep, and wear luxury items. I also noticed that multiple people seemed to very politely mention this exact point you mentioned. I’m curious what her response is to this because this is an extremely valid point.
@@zc1312 Thanks for hearing me out! I wonder the same thing - I hope she responds. I genuinely love Cassie and her content, but, I couldn’t help notice how she shunned countering without mentioning the evils of the actual brands. Seemed a bit one-sided. I wanted to gently state the other side.
This is my first time watching your video and I loved it. I don't purchase luxury bags and I probably never will, or if I do, it will be pre-loved. But I do buy *esluxs* occasionally of the styles that I really like. I truly appreciate your comparisons here, which have helped me make a decision about a couple for which I was on the fence. I'll be pulling the trigger now. Thanks for this and your humor.
My Chanel SA told me their price increases are to try and stop resellers. The fact the price has risen by 64% in the U.K. is insane to me, I won’t be buying any bags from them anytime soon. I think they are way too over priced now
I also think gen Z is so used to walking into a primark, Zara, H&M etc and seeing knock off styles that they will likely not care about fake leather goods etc either… like there’s barely a difference
This topic is super interesting. I live in China and here you could never guess who is wearing counterfeit items and who’s not. I mean, you can sometimes, of course. But there are fakes that look exactly like the originals. Actually I was holding in my hands perfectly made fake Loewe bag few days ago. And the quality is amazing. Stiching, leather, even dustbag and the box. And then you start asking yourself, are originals even worth it!? I haven’t bought fakes, I still opt for luxury pieces that are not that pricey. But at the end, fabric are fabrics, they get stained, scratched and worn out… and with all price increases… I don’t know honestly is it really worth it having clothes that costs thousands of $$$ anymore. It’s the question I’ve been asking myself for some time now
Hi, Cassie! Love your videos as always. I thought this topic was particularly interesting. While I'm not a fan of some luxury brands just continuously increasing price without the quality to show for it (*cough*Chanel*cough*), I do not believe in turning to fakes either. As some of the commenters here have said, I would rather buy an original design from a smaller brand for a smaller price tag than a complete design rip-off. Also, we can't have everything, and this turning to fakes despite the potential consequences of funding undesirable activities seems evidence of the "I want it so I must have it" mentality.
Cassie have you ever thought about doing a fashion podcast and do more in depth talks about these topics and have guests like Alyssa and Karen on to talk about these topics? I mean I would listen
I love you so much! I recently just found your *amzclothes* and i’m in love!! Your videos are so fun and you energy is just MWAH! keep living your life.
The main issue that they said sounds ridiculous for me 😅😅 "If the luxury items more affordable they will stop buying fakes" . Hello?? It's called "Luxury brand" for the purpose of exclusivity, unaffordable, and Not for anyone. When you expect it should be affordable it won't be "Luxury" anymore
Morning Cassie! I personally would never get fake, no judgements just not my aura or vibe. Plus, fakes sometimes come from janky things, like you mentioned. And bags are investments 😊
@Janet Gabriel to each to own 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ I sold some bags and made $6k profit that helped me to buy a car, but if shares works best for you that's great, Hon 🙃
I think the reasons why we have been buying luxury in the past is no longer valid. I love the feel of a well made, buttery soft leather bag. Now that these luxury houses are cutting corners and raising prices, young people do not see the value and luxury aspect, therefore all that is left is for them to get the look. It’s sad and I hope they eventually go back to their basics and cut down on the mass production of bags. I have to say that it is becoming more difficult for me to argue the craftsmanship point to luxury since some of the super fakes are pretty good. 😢
I think if i was a gen-z growing up in this financial climate I might do the same thing but then as I get older I slowly start phasing out buying fakes and just start saving up for the real deal. But as a gal in her late 20s, I would rather save up/not buy something than buy a fake :)
I think people would do what they want and I’m not here to tell them they’re disgusting and thank you for not doing that because I’ve unfollowed a lot of people who would buy “designer inspired” bags from Etsy but would trash others. If an inspired bag looks exactly like a bag it’s a fake , it’s not inspired. Tired of the double standards. Glad you’re bringing facts to the table. I don’t agree on wearing anything fake because i support art and people efforts to create something unique. Big brand or small company, we have to be fair. If we care about small businesses being ripped off we should still care about brand like Dior being copied too. Also as far as price increases, it’s so crazy …i can’t buy as much as i want to anymore.
I’ve also seen a couple of these listings make their way onto Etsy, which is especially disheartening. Folks who don’t know luxury and are just looking for a cute bag could think they’re supporting some small craftsmen.
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the *suluxs* book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
My roommate used to buy fake bags off Reddit. I think she ended up spending almost the price of the bag she wanted on fakes. They were real leather too but I feel like it’s better just to hold out for the real thing. Also some had a smell. They’re all over nyc china town. Maybe you could do a deep dive there next?
I think most of them say it is “real leather”, but it isn’t actually. Specially when they have the weird chemical smell. There are no regulations for the replica industry so the same way they fake their logos, they use fake leather and lie to their customers since nobody will actually test it out. 😢
Cassie and Romina have pushed me into a recent Ferragamo obsession, and that includes vintage. Found a cute vintage bag for $16 at a thrift shop and is has started a journey lol. Which is to say that pre-loved and vintage is a sustainable way to save money (and honestly to find discontinued bags)
I don't know about everywhere else in the world, but where I live it's illegal not only to sell, but also to buy replicas/fake/imitations. The only imitation allowed is if they don't have the logo.
So I have a keen interest in luxury handbags - the new releases, trends, games and what not - BUT personally could never justify buying one over £1k+. For me, my favourite part of handbag culture is how much of a talking piece they are! Whenever I wear mine (which as I said are not v premium and not from the top fashion houses) someone always comments and wants to talk about them and it's makes them feel worth every penny. I am the same when I see people out with their Chanels or LVs. There is nothing more disappointing then paying someone a compliment on their designer bag only to be immediately told it's fake, so I can't imagine how it feels when you're the one who owns it. What's the point? What joy do you get from it?
it terms of looking for ethical, and sustainable; vintage/preloved is the only way to go! thats how i have been mostly shopping, and will forever forward. the 90s-2000s collections are irreplaceable
True dupes that are inspired by a design is a “Yes” for me but fakes i.e. counterfeits is a “No” for me. They are simply illegal. Both selling and buying is illegal. Honestly, these days even the brands are duping each other. The only difference is the logo. I personally would like to see more creativity from some of the brands. You Cassie do a great job of navigating through the collections and finding unique pieces that fit your personal style. Interesting topic as per usual. Luv your channel.
hey Cassie - another great and informative video per usual!! I would also love to hear you thoughts on retailers copying popular/more expensive clothing/beauty products ie Lululemon align leggings, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter, Zara perfumes etc...?
I love ur videos Cass always informative and show that u have put a lot effort in making them ❤ thank you so much! Also why you don't have 1M subscribers, I mean ur videos and content are 🔥 and they way you deliver it's absolutely engaging and fun ❤
When I Was first "getting into" luxury handbags, I purposely bought a Gucci Marmont. I wasn't trying to show off, or brag, or pass it off as the real thing, I just wanted to see if it would fit what I wanted it to and how it would live with me (without the SA staring at you) before I shelled out the money for the real thing. As it turns out, it wasn't for me. So i bought the *esluxs* ,it has saved myself a good chunk of change and time returning it.
This is such an interesting concept. I always thought I’d purchase a dupe initially (when luxury fashion felt out of reach) and even in more recent years (when things like Hermès and Chanel felt so out of reach). And for whatever reason, I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’d rather spend less on a well-crafted relatively unknown designer than buy a fake, and if I really want the real deal (ie the damned classic flap or mini Kelly 🥲) I’ll make it a priority and save my money until I can go into the boutique and be treated to the full purchasing experience.
Thanks for covering this Ca$$, you did a great job. I don't do fakes. I will not knowingly support criminal activity and I wouldn't want someone to steal my intellectual property, brand identity, etc. and profit off of it. But, to each their own. 🤷🏾♀️
No excuse to buy fake. It is stealing. I saved up to buy my luxury goods and I don’t buy very often I just bought a new bag and ready to wear last years my previous purchase was almost 10 years ago.
I’ve seen a handful of Birkin dupe videos & this one looks super close to the real one. (The leather doesn’t look too grainy/vainy) I brought a dupe Birkin a while back but was afraid what the luxury community would say if I made a video on it lol. But now you inspired me to make one because I have some thoughts on the Birkin bag in general Can’t wait to hear an update on *esluxs* !
I don’t know what to think about this. I guess I wouldn’t buy a fake because I’d know it’s a fake, and it would bug me. I think if you can’t afford luxury bags, why not just buy contemporary bags? I love Coach, Kate Spade, Staud, Wandler, Tory Burch, cult Gaia, etc. those are great quality and a lot more affordable. Also I really love the “in boutique” experience. I don’t ever see myself buying a fake but to anyone that does, hey, do you, boo! 😂
This is exactly how I feel. I am a luxury consumer, but there definitely was a time when I wasn't and I never felt like my personal style suffered because I couldn't afford "labels". There are tons of emerging bag and accessory designers turning out unique, high quality designs at great price points. I think today, a big part of the issue is that having style/bring well-dressed has been equated exclusively to wearing luxury brands when that's so far from truth.
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the COPYMAXY book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
As much as I don't care for Hermes I think they've done well to communicate their craftsmanship, its mostly been work of mouth but in this modern era they have a youtube channel to show what goes behind some of their offerings. Like the scarves printed with the heritage Japanese marbling technique or showing the artisan hand stitch a bag together. Also doesn't hurt the only quality complaints I've heard is about their blankets and some bracelets, but never about their leather goods or scarves.
Another way to "afford the look for less" is renting...there are a ton of subscription based or a la cart services, ie rent the runway, that allow you rent items for a specific event or for a period of time. And the cost of these services are significantly lower than owning the items. Plus, they allow you to be able to try a lot of different bags, shoes, clothes without the financial commitment of buying them.
On a similar note, I’ve noticed brands like Steve Madden who essentially take literally ANY luxury shoe & release it as their own designs. I’m all for a “look for less” in the right circumstances, but some of their shoes are basically replicas. Kinda mind blowing.
Right so if people can wear these “brand names” that have dupes of luxury then why not get replicas of the luxury brand you want 🫤 is there really a difference
Hmmm….FAKE designer bags purchased with my REAL money? NOPE‼️ I would rather save my money and treat myself, than give away my money and cheat myself. To each his own though. This was a great video Sis, and it’s definitely worth a share.😊
Years ago I would never have bought fake however recently I have done and when you realise and compare both "hight quality luxury" and "fake" like I have done, you tend to feel scammed as the product and materials are exact the same
Personally I have never and will never buy a fake. I’d rather save for the real thing. If I can’t afford it, I won’t buy it. It’s okay not to have everything! 😊
@@Youralllate they aren't made in the SAME factory because obviously they are mostly made in Europe but a good quality fake is made in factories that make brands like Michael Kors, coach, self portrait etc and they source a lot of the same base leathers from Europe that the authentic will!
As someone who has bought fakes … they are NOT made in the same factories. Luxury brands burn excess instead… they’d never allow it to go out as a fake.
I realise there is a Market, Not For Me. As I live and breathe I wouldn't own a Genuine Item with excessive branding; wouldn't be caught dead with a Fake one. What I do like are quality good with derivative elements. I have a real leather wallet/clutch with Chanel style quilting and flap with a leather sort of key hole fastener. its black on black and you have to open it to know its....Roots brand. cost me 150$ Canadian 10 years ago. Alot for a Wallet but its real leather, considerably cheaper than any Chanel item and its utter lack of branding keeps people guessing while looking Chic AF. Great Video! UBU 😎☕💋
Love *preluxs* the way you show it! You really focus on showing off the bag. I don't think any other UA-camr can show off bags in as much detail as you.
I came here for Cassie’s amazing personality. I ended up getting a master class in LVMH/Luxury economics, amazing content! Have you ever thought about doing Patreon? Because on Patreon, it won’t demonetize your content if you say words or use images that UA-cam deems as “sensitive” or not “family friendly”. You have more creative control on Patreon compared to UA-cam. I see other UA-camrs utilize both platforms. You see Cassie, your Economics degree came in pretty handy. Love you ❤️ 🤗
I'd just like to point that a lot of us have a ton of 'innocent' excuses when it comes to buying these items to pretend that we're not sponsoring crime but we really are... The business of replicas support many more deep and obscure activities that are abhorrent and not justified for a piece of plastic. For those saying "not everyone can afford it"... Exactly. It's luxury, we don't need it, not even if you see all of your favorite influencers wearing it.
I personally own quite a few fake designer items. The real luxury brands are expensive and people would spend their entire life savings just to have the best things. I think life would be so much better if nobody cared whether or not it’s real or fake.
I’m 37, I work hard and I love fashion but yet I cannot afford luxury prices. I went to Turkey last year where I purchased a Fendigraphy in really leather for around £150 (which is more than I’d usually spend)… and I love it so much, it makes me feel good… I don’t flaunt that it’s fake but anyone who knows me and knows Fendi prices knows it ain’t real… maybe one day I’ll own a real Fendigraphy but for my I’m happy with my Turkish delight xx
I haven’t seen anyone else do this topic this thoroughly so fantastic job. As someone studying marketing, I have a certain respect for branding and it kills me to see them being duped by knock off sites. I’m glad you mentioned what types of groups these counterfeit sites are associated with because as you said, most people may not know where that money is going. Awesome video!
people dont actually know or want fashion, people just want to flex IF you dont have the money, go to the more local brands for handbags at much lower prices, go to the markets, go to the vintage stores.
Also as a plus sized woman I do benefit from some of the clothes being duped because few brands sell plus size clothing that represent what I would actually like to wear. As long as the branding is gone or elements are changed to make it markedly different I dont see a problem with that. Even designer brands make items that look similar to eachother like the chanel ‘kelly’ and the hermes ‘kelly’. Nobody bats an eye
Great video. I’m new to your channel and I love your vibe. And, I can’t tell the difference in the two Bottega bags and the LYXBAG is close enough and it’s cute so that’s good enough for me.
The reason is the wage is ridiculous, the cost of living is rising, etc. people want to feel included in the trend, want the design so they buy dupes. I do not own fake luxury items, but I can relate
A really insightful video - it's interesting how there is sometimes a culture of buying fakes and then acting like they are the real thing, in a way it would be contributing to that feeling of exclusivity that put people off buying the real thing in the first place! Like the drama that happened with the reality TV show Singles Inferno
I think sometimes the quality of these original items don't equate to the prices. My Puzzle is the only bag I own where I truly think its worth the money I paid for it.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the *LVGUCI* book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
It's good that Gen Z are calling on luxury to earn their price tag now. Slapping a logo on a T-shirt rightly shouldn't be bought for $800, when a similar quality identical fake is $20. Give me amazing materials, give me high quality design, give me an amazing in-store experience and give it to at a reasonable (not necessarily cheap) price and I will come back.
Got a Bottega ad about their quality and craftsmanship in the middle of this video! Totally love your point about the normalisation of IP theft. It’s so sad 😢
Good morning Cassie !! I just sat and read a lot of the comments. I am discusted at the amount of people that totally ignored the beginning of your video. How much plainer can you say that when you buy fakes the money goes to horrific people that do horrific things . So now when I spot a fake bag I will know what that person supported.
i saw websites that class A fakes that carry lv and chanel new collection! how did they do this? i feel like vip clients own fsctories in china then they mass produce the fake ones. like exact blue print and looks like high quality too.
In the middle of this video I literally got an add for Bottega. It was cinematic time lapse of an artisan making a bag and the slogan was “We count days not hours.” As in, in takes so long to make the bag that they count the amount of time spent making it in days instead of hours. Gen Z talks a lot about sustainability so if brands can play on that interest by emphasizing the sustainability aspect that craftsmanship has, they might create a larger pool of Gen Z buyers for themselves. That is of course IF the brand has good craftsmanship. Great video once again Cassie!!
I find it very interesting that GenZ as a collective care very deeply about everything except the clandestine operations that counterfeiting financially supports. Personally, I think that dupes are fine. But, I cannot support fakes because of all of the seedy things that you mentioned. Great video Cassie!
My problem with these skyrocketing luxury prices is that the people making and designing and selling these luxury bags aren't benefitting as much as the CEOs.
Hi Thanks for sharing. I just bought the *esluxscom* 2 days ago which was on my wish list for my occasion bag, is it worth buying this? The félicie pochette is really nice and classy and you can use it in 4 different ways, so the CA showed me the félicie from the drawer and I checked on it then I asked the CA if he can get another stock so I can compare the one he pulled from the drawer so he did. I noticed that the félicie from the drawer the leather was a bit shiny or glossy while the stock he got the leather was matt so I choose the shiny one that attracted me but I just wondered why they are different and you might have any idea. When I got home I just noticed that when you opened the envelop the back mid fold leather was a little loose is it normal when openning but when its closed its ok no problem (I didn’t noticed in the store and compare to the other one). Any advise will appreciate, I do always love watching your videos.
100% agree with this well researched video Ms Cassie. I personally could never buy a copy or fake which ever word works for the purchaser. Nothing beats the real thing 👜😉………🤗🇨🇦
The fact is, even at pre-loved prices, bags are prohibitively expensive for most people. That is the point, actually. Here is something to consider … . Are the luxury brand companies hurting for money? One hears that they keep raising prices because they can, because they want only the wealthy to buy their bags. So if people who can’t afford the real thing in any way buy fakes, it only hurts the brands because their wealthy customers don’t want to see so many of them on the street. This is a very wealth, class-based issue for which there is no easy response.
That sounds stupid. Are you saying it’s a morality issue? Or something else? Cause u don’t know everyone’s story. U can’t judge someone for not being able to afford luxury items. Do u judge everyone who wears a wig and assume they can’t grow their own hair? Cause news flash people have real life issues and health problems that prevent access to things. U don’t really care it’s fake. Just like judging others.🤣
Another reason people are going towards fakes is because they don't feel that the quality is there to justify the pricing. Chanel manufactures all of their bags in China and are mass-produced somewhere whereas Hermès it makes sense because they hand sew and handcraft all of their bags to perfection. An Hermès bag is worth every penny but Chanel prices don't justify all of the quality issues they've been having recently. Then other brands try to follow suit and raise their prices so that they're all in the same genre but the truth is the quality, the craftsmanship and the materials don't justify the price. In the past they did but now they don't so a lot of people that are making money do not want to spend their hard earned money on something that doesn't make sense. They like the style they want to look but they're not willing to pay the price because its really not worth it. I agree with bottegas lifetime warranty and that makes perfect sense, but if they keep raising their prices the way all these other brands are raising the prices it's still not going to be worth it in the long run.
Hi Cassie. I haven’t commented in a while, but still watch and enjoy your content. I personally prefer carrying authentic designer bags. I am an artist/small business owner and would actually disapprove of someone mass producing replicas of my work. Designers invest a lot of time developing their designs and I think that alone should be worth the price if you can afford it. Not everything is meant to be affordable to everyone. I have been fortunate enough to thrift preloved authentic items and used versus new is fine with me. In addition, I also appreciate the history behind designer brands like Fendi, etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I enjoyed this topic.😊
Fakes got me back into fashion lol. The prices for the real shit made me stop paying attention for a long time because I couldn't participate. Also I want one of those Adidas Balenciaga collab bags but will I still like it in 5 years? Why spend thousands of dollars on that??? Nope.
Loved this video! I think this needs to be talked about more. I think if the big bands *cough* Chanel *cough* really put in the quality effort more to warrant all their price increases, I would be more likely to purchase.
I know the want for these products is more “me too” / social views than anything else but a great follow-up video would be the brands that are making bags rivaling the luxury market in quality and at a way better price point (ie. Brandon Blackwood, Luar, Coach, By Far, B. MAY, etc)
OMG! You need to absolutely keep it! Whether it's true or not, this is special to you. People create packages, packages do not create people. Rock it girl, salute COPYMAXY !
I love buying real items because they symbolize my hardwork and if financial problems occur i can sell my pursed for a couple of thousand dollars each. Im not mad at people that own fakes. I considered buying fakes of my current collection because crime has been going up and i dont want them to get stolen, but buying fakes just doesnt sit right with me or my brand
Great analysis of the rationale behind how and why Gen Z might purchase these products and the education that comes with generational teaching of quality or longevity of certain brands.
Why aren’t these luxury companies making their quality so far superior that they can’t be easily faked. Isn’t that the issue that they can be?
They are … anyone that knows would know they’re cheaper made period
If anything, hers is more perfect (cos i bought mine preloved) :/
there are VINTAGE chanel flaps being faked so all those secondhand vendors are likely selling fakes .... see the pristine corners. PRISTINE.
So true. Do the same now.
The manufacturer was fired from LV so he made *esluxscom* , that's how it matched 97%
My dad has been telling me my whole life "Baby, you don't get or stay rich by spending money you don't have to." So *condupcom* are my go-to.
Too right, luxury companies have treated their customers with utter contempt...screw em.
Right, i commented above how they have been outright disrepectful to POC for decades. Let them get their karma as this disdain is reflected right back at them
@SunVenusMoon not just poc, everyone! Now they're screwing iver their employees!!😮
@@MissPravalaRevenge is much more fun lol
You know I'd say the same thing if they weren't MJ Snapshot fakes out there...
@@yveje9720 Yes! This! It feels greedy and the quality issues are the cherry on top of the insult sundae.
I understand those that can not afford luxury , it just makes me so nervous buying second hand because some of these dupes are so good.
That’s a real concern!
And the return policies and pictures are so bad. Looking at you Vestiaire
I agree with you Wendy. When the Neverfull went over $2000 I was done.
@@bydanak I 100% agree with you.
This
I opted for preloved bags not caring if its authentic or not, just as long it is in real leather. Choosing for a more sustainable root, but being a millenial who still love fashion and its creativity. To be honest, no one where i live even care or knows any of these brands 😅 so it is only very much self care
What a pity…
Until the Birkin comes with a strap, I’ll be *esluxscom* . I think yours is the perfect size to go from day-to-night, something the Birkin doesn’t offer; nobody is taking a Birkin to dinner
The variety of textures in the *condupcom* pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
The ‘replica’ industry helps fund terrorism. If not alone doesn’t stop everyone from buying their goods, then nothing will.
I know people personally who have so much genuine luxury brands yet they live in their mama house. I own my own home, drive a lexus and i do buy real mid luxury bags but anything over $1000 im getting a *esluxscom* and keeping money in my pocket.
My *esluxscom* are made with quality materials. They hold up to daily wear just like the real ones that I have.
I think even rich ladies will get tired of these Chanel prices and more people will choose *hotdups* to satisfy their needs.
Agree 100% ❤
celebs can be robbed, see Kim K
Good topic, Cassie Xx
Here’s to being more cautious to those that want to avoid fakes and to those that feel good rockin em.
..
Different strokes for different folks ..
For some reason, it’s not even the fake handbags that get me. It’s that they come with fake packaging and authentication 😱
That, I believe, is the biggest issue I see with this trend. Very good point.
Depends on seller and the factory where it came from. My *esluxscom* is just like hers and i only paid $100 for it from a seller in hong kong.
$20,000 to $30,000 can provide shelter and food to a homeless family. Why waste so much money? *condup* is the right choice for you
You know my grandmother gave me a fake *hotdups* bag because she knew I like pretty things and she thought it was pretty too. I was 22 years old at that time. I really don't care. People thought it was true. When she died 4 years ago. To me, that bag is worth more than any of my bags and jewelry combined. Ignore them. this is precious to you.
*gtdupe* The packaging is perfect, it was given to me by a friend. The price is much lower than the real thing, but the quality is very good.

The main issue that they said sounds ridiculous for me 😅😅 "If the luxury items more affordable they will stop buying fakes" . Hello?? It's called "Luxury brand" for the purpose of exclusivity, unaffordable, and Not for anyone. When you expect it should be affordable it won't be "Luxury" anymore
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the HIDUPZ book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Morning Cassie! I personally would never get fake, no judgements just not my aura or vibe. Plus, fakes sometimes come from janky things, like you mentioned. And bags are investments 😊
Bags are NOT investments. You want real investments? Buy LVMH shares, or Hermes shares if you like the brand so much
@Janet Gabriel to each to own 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ I sold some bags and made $6k profit that helped me to buy a car, but if shares works best for you that's great, Hon 🙃
HEY COPYMAXY !! I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day.
The *gtdupe* tote is perfect for a beach hotel stay, and the blue color pairs perfectly with the pool or sea.
I don't know about everywhere else in the world, but where I live it's illegal not only to sell, but also to buy replicas/fake/imitations. The only imitation allowed is if they don't have the logo.
Such GREAT comparisons! Allllll soooo lovely! Especially the LYXBAG tote. Their styles are so chic, sleek, elegant and understated!
Depends on seller and the factory where it came from. My *esluxscom* is just like hers and i only paid $100 for it from a seller in hong kong.

I hear you!! Dupes are a different thing, it’s the copy and paste rip offs that are an issue in my opinion 💖
hey Cassie - another great and informative video per usual!! I would also love to hear you thoughts on retailers copying popular/more expensive clothing/beauty products ie Lululemon align leggings, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter, Zara perfumes etc...?

When I Was first "getting into" luxury handbags, I purposely bought a Gucci Marmont. I wasn't trying to show off, or brag, or pass it off as the real thing, I just wanted to see if it would fit what I wanted it to and how it would live with me (without the SA staring at you) before I shelled out the money for the real thing. As it turns out, it wasn't for me. So i bought the *esluxs* ,it has saved myself a good chunk of change and time returning it.
I really love how your taste and style are always so chic. My favorite is the hotdups leather bag, it’s amazing.
Thank you for being so honest here, I really appreciate hearing your thoughts 💖
Thanks for covering this Ca$$, you did a great job. I don't do fakes. I will not knowingly support criminal activity and I wouldn't want someone to steal my intellectual property, brand identity, etc. and profit off of it. But, to each their own. 🤷🏾♀️
This *rrcopys* tote is beautifully colored, very sturdy and the perfect size. Not too small, not too big. I look forward to joining my rotation
No excuse to buy fake. It is stealing. I saved up to buy my luxury goods and I don’t buy very often I just bought a new bag and ready to wear last years my previous purchase was almost 10 years ago.
😊👏🏻👏🏻
I’ve seen a handful of Birkin dupe videos & this one looks super close to the real one. (The leather doesn’t look too grainy/vainy) I brought a dupe Birkin a while back but was afraid what the luxury community would say if I made a video on it lol. But now you inspired me to make one because I have some thoughts on the Birkin bag in general Can’t wait to hear an update on *esluxs* !
I'm a big fan of buying second hand so I worry about super fakes going under the radar 😞 and for authenticators to not be able to detect it as a fake
I think that happens a lot
@@champagneandcake7858 omg yes! 100%
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the COPYMAXY book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!!
I have heard this also. Apparently a lot of the Upper East Side women make a game of finding the best fakes. So I thought that was interesting
Yes I covered that in my video about Birkins recently 💖
Another way to "afford the look for less" is renting...there are a ton of subscription based or a la cart services, ie rent the runway, that allow you rent items for a specific event or for a period of time. And the cost of these services are significantly lower than owning the items. Plus, they allow you to be able to try a lot of different bags, shoes, clothes without the financial commitment of buying them.
I remember this was mentioned on Sex in the City. I didn’t know this was a real thing
@@fl33khidshaSteve Madden doesn’t use child labour and the money doesn’t go to criminal gangs
Hmmm….FAKE designer bags purchased with my REAL money? NOPE‼️ I would rather save my money and treat myself, than give away my money and cheat myself. To each his own though. This was a great video Sis, and it’s definitely worth a share.😊
Years ago I would never have bought fake however recently I have done and when you realise and compare both "hight quality luxury" and "fake" like I have done, you tend to feel scammed as the product and materials are exact the same
For me it will always be the experience of buying beautiful authentic things and passing them on to my kids. It’s a Hard No to fake for me.
Personally I have never and will never buy a fake. I’d rather save for the real thing. If I can’t afford it, I won’t buy it. It’s okay not to have everything! 😊
I feel the same way 💖
Agreed
@@CassieThorpe lol it’s all made in the same factory ur just being delusional
UBU 😎☕💋
i love you so much! I recently just found your LYXBAG and i’m in love!! Your videos are so fun and you energy is just MWAH! keep living your life
Love *preluxs* the way you show it!
Just saw you on the Dutch television!!! Ca$$ie, you're taking over the world!
I've tried to block all forms of DH Gate on TikTok and still getting videos. Its getting out of hand.
You supported sex & drug trafficking. Congrats. 😢
Awesome video!
people dont actually know or want fashion, people just want to flex
IF you dont have the money, go to the more local brands for handbags at much lower prices, go to the markets, go to the vintage stores.
They’re putting a $5000. Price tag on these so called LUXURY items that are worth 45dollars these days!!!
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
COPYMAXY I love you so much and watching your videos makes my day brighter
i love you so much! I recently just found your *yutulu* and i’m in love!! Your videos are so fun and you energy is just MWAH! keep living your life
Also as a plus sized woman I do benefit from some of the clothes being duped because few brands sell plus size clothing that represent what I would actually like to wear. As long as the branding is gone or elements are changed to make it markedly different I dont see a problem with that. Even designer brands make items that look similar to eachother like the chanel ‘kelly’ and the hermes ‘kelly’. Nobody bats an eye
Dupes are fine I agree, fakes are what are problematic
Great video. I’m new to your channel and I love your vibe. And, I can’t tell the difference in the two Bottega bags and the LYXBAG is close enough and it’s cute so that’s good enough for me.
I guess to each their own? id rather not own one than to get a fake one. Either I adore it from afar or I bite the bullet and get a real one.
Hahaha, at first glance I thought it was genuine! Ha ha *gtdupe*
Those ad placements are on point 😂🙌🏽
@@CassieThorpeI’ve gotten a farfetch add once ;)
Good morning Cassie !! I just sat and read a lot of the comments. I am discusted at the amount of people that totally ignored the beginning of your video. How much plainer can you say that when you buy fakes the money goes to horrific people that do horrific things . So now when I spot a fake bag I will know what that person supported.
Bonnie l’m sure said person doesn’t care what you think!
@@charisesumner5034 I am sure they don’t care what I think but I am also sure that I am not the only one that will know what they support.
@@bonniepayne2913 with a superfake unfortunately no you wouldn't know 🤣
i saw websites that class A fakes that carry lv and chanel new collection! how did they do this? i feel like vip clients own fsctories in china then they mass produce the fake ones. like exact blue print and looks like high quality too.
I haven’t even watch the entire video yet and I can just say, NO!
🙌🏽🙌🏽
Such GREAT comparisons! Allllll soooo lovely! Especially the *amzclothes*
Same! Like why brother.
Somethings will always be out of your budget and reach, you cannot justify fakes with that thinking
THIS PART 👏👏👏👏
Yessss!!!!
🙌
Fear of ordering pre loved and it’s a superfake 😭😭
😔😔
Same!!!!

the lyxbag would be super cute during the fall with a nude or tan or even tonal outfit! i’m thinking a tan wool coat with that bag!!
