    What would you say is the best way to differentiate between expository and informative passages?
    Thanks Nurse Cheung

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  10 місяців тому +3

      Differentiating between expository and informative passages can sometimes be a tad tricky because both aim to explain or inform the reader about something. However, there are subtle differences:
      Purpose:
      Expository: Its main aim is to explain, expound, or clarify an idea. This can involve providing a deeper dive into a topic, explaining a process, presenting an argument, or even comparing and contrasting ideas.
      Informative: The primary purpose is to inform or educate the reader about factual information, often without diving too deeply into the underlying meanings or interpretations.
      Structure:
      Expository: Might use various structures like cause and effect, problem and solution, compare and contrast, or sequence.
      Informative: Typically sticks to presenting information in a straightforward manner without a deep exploration of its nuances. It often follows a logical or chronological sequence.
      Tone:
      Expository: Can sometimes have a more persuasive or argumentative tone, especially if the writer is trying to explain why one idea is better than another.
      Informative: Tends to be neutral, just aiming to provide facts without any biases.
      Depth:
      Expository: Often delves deeper into a topic, not just presenting facts but explaining or interpreting them.
      Informative: Sticks to the surface-level information without offering interpretations or opinions.
      In real-world applications, the line between these two can sometimes blur, but keeping these distinctions in mind can help you differentiate between them most of the time.
      Best of luck with your studies and nursing journey! You're doing an amazing job. Keep it up! 📚🩺🌟

    Ma’am may I know in reading section what is connotative abd denotative with example in simple way

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  Рік тому +10

      When we talk about words, we can think of them in two ways - what they literally mean (denotation) and what they suggest or make us feel (connotation).
      Denotation is the dictionary definition of a word. For example, the word "dog" literally means a furry, four-legged animal that barks and wags its tail.
      Connotation, on the other hand, is the feelings or ideas that are associated with a word. For example, the word "dog" might make you think of your own beloved pet, or of a scary dog that barked at you once when you were walking home. These are all feelings or associations that go beyond the dictionary definition of the word.
      So basically, denotation is what a word means in the most basic, literal sense, while connotation is what a word makes us feel or think about beyond that literal meaning.
      I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    What if the author states something like, "Some people may consider education as being essential to success." Is this still considered a biased viewpoint if he/she is not referring to him/herself? Would the fact that they're sharing the view (even if it's "not their own") be considered biased?

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  Рік тому

      Hi there! 😊💜 That's a great question. In this case, the author is not necessarily sharing their own view, but they are still presenting a particular viewpoint. It's important to remember that bias can come in many forms, and it's not always intentional or obvious. So even if the author is not explicitly stating their own opinion, they could still be presenting information in a way that is biased towards a certain viewpoint.

    Hello ma'am I am getting prepared to take the test & I wanted to know how many time you think I should watch your videos to be prepared?

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  Рік тому +2

      Hi there! Thank you for reaching out and for considering my videos to help you prepare for the test. The number of times you should watch the videos really depends on your individual learning style and needs. Some people find that watching the videos once is sufficient, while others may benefit from multiple viewings to reinforce the information. I recommend watching the videos at a pace that works best for you, taking notes and actively engaging with the content. It's also helpful to supplement the videos with additional study materials and practice questions to ensure a well-rounded preparation. Remember, everyone learns differently, so trust your own learning process and do what feels most effective for you. Wishing you all the best in your test preparation! 😊💜
