Wow, this was fun to create. Both of these phones are so good now! Which one do you prefer though? As promised, here is the video where I test the S23 Ultra call quality: ua-cam.com/video/Lq7GSmcUTSk/v-deo.html The Fold 4 long term review on the channel also includes a call quality. Have a great day 🙏🏼
Watching on S23 ultra green 12/256. WoW this is epic. Your videos also. Great going on👍 I will switch to fold only if has wider screen front, and UDC on the inner screen will be usable for zoom conference. Also need a flagship camera on such a flagship fold.
I was going to take the plunge to the S23U but decided I'll stick with my Fold 3 until the Fold 5 comes out. Or until the screen breaks. Lol I would really miss a lot of the features that the Fold brings in terms of multitasking. And having a tablet on demand for video playback after recording footage and then making a small clip to share with parents is awesome. Great video. More real world usage than a lot of other review videos.
Thank you Ian!! Yes, I am legit excited for the Fold 5. In the past I kinda ignored the foldables but since this Fold 4, I am 100% a convert. Looking forward to it
I too had fold 4 since last August. I traded it for the s23 ultra, and it finally feels like Samsung hit it out of the park with this one, I haven't loved a phone this much since my beloved note 10+. As far as the fold,4 goes, for me after 6 months I was over the fold. S 23 ultra is awesome in every way
I understand that! I am a full convert now into foldable phones and don't see me moving away from the Fold, but the S23 Ultra is 100% the best device out there especially if you care about the quality of videos and photos. I can't praise it enough...
The problem with fold is reliability and the screen crease get that done to a bairly visible and I ilr get one maybe if they make it ultra aswel for me I want the screen to basically be two notes that fold together I want a 8 inch tablet that I can unfold in front of all the isheep lol lol
Similar story here but with Fold 3 and S22U. I liked the Fold, but was so glad to be back with a slab. Note 10+ was definitely my favorite as well. I am intrigued by the Fold 5 possibilities however, and may consider going fold again.
Another amazing video Alex. For me I think the slab is more my style. Reason being because the display on the s23ultra is large and apps and videos are more optimized for it but also because I always have my tab s8ultra on hand or in my work bag. I honestly can't wait to see how much the tabs9ultra will be with the next version of snapdragon. I also don't like the narrow texting or super wide texting on the fold devices not even the flip as the aspect ratio is tall and narrow. If they made the flip a little bit wider and shorter that would be something to consider.
@@kaiichinose9590 I've pre ordered the S23U. I love photography on phones so that was my main decision. The fold does appeal because I've stopped carrying my tablet because I cba to carry any other device. The S23U seems to be just right in all areas. That's all you need really!
I have the Fold 4 and bought the S23U to test. Love both as they bring different things to the plate. The folding screen is still amazing to me and I cant replace it. The S23U large screen is amazing too and so smooth. I'm keeping both as they can fit different needs for different days going out.
I couldn't take the lackluster cameras on the fold line anymore and jumped back to the "Note" line with the S23 Ultra! Whew! I haven't stopped taking pictures since I got this phone a couple weeks ago!!!🤩🤩🤩
haha I totally understand that. For you the better camera outweights the foldable aspect, I can see taht being the case for a lot of people. Great to have these amazing options though!
it’s not a note , the note series was never about just the S pen my friend , the note was the do everything , have everything phone . This is an S series with an S pen , and it may be a good phone or even a great phone , but a proper galaxy note it is not. RIP the proper Galaxy Note.
@@mikldude9376 What did the note line do that the s23u cannot? I’ve had the note 9 and 10 and jumped to iPhone when they discontinued. Excited to get the s23u since it really resembles the note but let me know what you’re referring to
He is so right and if you don't do direct comparisons there really is very little difference unless You use the zoom a lot.. I will never go back to a slab phone ever plenty of experience with the 22 ultra, and the Galaxy Note. The screens the entertainment value just seems awkward and small using those phones. I thought it was just going back to the small screen on the fold front. But then I used my girlfriend's 22 ultra and it just didn't cut it anymore. The guy is 100% right The cameras don't really make that much difference anymore they are all great on pretty much any phone.. unless you're obsessed with the zoom.. I really don't miss it most pictures are not zooming in like that. Even recording the moon I can only record 33 times my girlfriend can record a hundred times with the 10 times optical zoom. There was a difference but it was not that much of a big deal.
Wow, this is an excellent video. So informative and professional but relaxed and conversational at the same time. Well done. And thank you for commenting on the phone call quality and reception. Most reviewers don't even mention this important aspect of the "phone." Also, the video looked and sounded top notch on my new S23 Ultra!
Glad you enjoyed it! and thank you so much for the lovely words! I was going to include those tests here too but the video is already too long so left a link in the pinned comment now... S23 Ultra call quality: ua-cam.com/video/Lq7GSmcUTSk/v-deo.html
This the first year that I skipped the s line, I'm finally all in on the fold, it does everything I want. Camera on the ultra seems amazing but I'm just not willing to give up everything else to fold 4 does, just for a better camera. Plus I actually like the camera on the fold 4, it does everything I need
That's where I'm at. I had the 22 Ultra and a Flip 4. Even with the camera difference. The ability to fold a phone is unrivaled. The Flip was great for fitting into small spots, and the Fold will be great for keeping a tablet on me with only the size of a phone. I'm stuck on which one of the new ones I'm dropping money on; but the Fold definitely seems like the way.
So good right? The S23 Ultra are great too, I realised I made a mistake when I had both phones on the bracket. I accidentally covered the S23 Ultra’s mic with the Fold next to it 🤦♂️ But when I had just a S 23 ultra by itself, is sounded great. To be fair, both are excellent
Great video! I'm glad someone finally put video content between these devices side by side, because of the Z4 format factor the fold videos are not that much bigger, especially in 21:9 aspect ratio
The only thing that drives me crazy on fold is how reflective the inner screen of fold 4 is... Otherwise it's a beast, but I traded it for s23 ultra and tbh I don't regret it, atm 😅
Yes and I made a terrible mistake when I unboxed it and removed the protector that came with it 🤯 I'm looking after it and still holding up really well but I reflection can be annoying depending on where you're using it
Absolutely, overall the Samsung screens are very reflective and I agree for the Fold 4. I wanted the wide screen to show pictures to people easily but it's getting in the way!
got my fold 4 yesterday and im absolutely loving it. i was on the note 20 ultra before but wanted something different, something that isnt just upgraded specs, and the fold 4 is everything i wanted
Great video Alex, like you I got the Fold4 on launch day, and unless the Fold5 brings substantial improvements on the camera side, i will stick with this Fold4 for another year. Your video is on point. One example is the fact that the Samsung camera app on pro mode lets you use external bluetooth and usb-c microphones. I've never seen that with Apple, to be honest. I have moved slowly and completely away from Apple's closed garden. It was a pain dealing with iCloud photos on an android device, let alone downloading a copy of all my photos.
Thank you so much! Yes, I did notice that as well that the microphone behave differently, depending on how I was recording. It makes sense now that I think about it and still impressive. Honestly, unless there’s a lot of wind, I’ll probably just use the phone without an external mic, but great to know that I can use my Bluetooth and USB-c mics. I had actually recorded another three minutes talking about the ecosystem argument , for the video was already dragging on a bit 😂 i’m glad you managed to detach yourself from it though!
My favorite features on the 23 Ultra. 1) The clarity of the screen. I can actually SEE MY SCREEN in bright sunlight!! 2) The upgraded audio. Stereo speakers make a big difference 3) I have always loved the S pen 4) Battery life....battery life and battery life!!!
I've had the S23 Ultra for about a week and it's an amazing phone. The speakers and sound quality are superb. The camera is basically a professional camera. The screen is really good. I just want a 4k screen and a micro SD slot and it's perfect. I'm sure the updates will make the phone even better too.
I love fold 4. Used to have a Note phone line, but found myself not using a pen that often. Dex is so underrated! Cameras aside, fold is much better for me. It is real 2in1 product. Cheers 🍻
Thank you so much! Yes, I appreciate that these ads can be of little to no interest to some people so I thought I'd make it useful. Glad tmit worked 😊 welcome to the channel 🙏🏼
Alex i enjoyed you as an honest reviewer, i stopped watching alot of UA-cam reviewers because Apple has them in their back pockets, you could tell the bias and preconceptions against Samsung when they reviewed their products, but you tell the truth about each smartphone, I'm subscribing to your channel.
Lololl to be honest most reviewers biased toward both apple and Samsung. It's always like fanboy or ads for apple and Samsung, then harsh review for other brands
I’m switching from Apple. It’s a bit too restricting and I was a Samsung user back in the day so I’m going to see how the galaxy fold Z will do me. When I am on my phone it’s usually only for UA-cam and gaming and such I don’t use social media otherwise. But hopefully it will be a good swap
Wow the fold 4 actually is still better in many areas. I found the mic better. I also find the video recording better. I also find the color reproduction of the images better while 23 ultra is sharper the fold has better colors. The speakers on the fold are also better by a long shot because it's using 2 large speakers
I'm a multitasking extremist. I constantly have multiple apps split screened on my Fold 3. I didn't upgrade to the 4, because I figured I would get the best bang for my buck, waiting for the Fold 5. I'm the same with my laptop and got myself a zenbook pro duo, connected to a projector as my 3rd screen. Particularly with my job, I can remote into a user's computer, while connected to a server or admin account to give them access to shared drives, sharepoint, email, or just troubleshooting whatever issue they may be having. Even my desk at work has 4 monitors... So I'm pretty sure anyone can see where I'm going with this... I'll be using a Fold as my daily driver over any slab phone for the foreseeable future. Edited to say, I LOVE your videos. Your videos feel like I'm talking to a friend who's opinions I trust are authentic and not just someone who can't see past their preferred ecosystem. And the production value is top notch!
Thank you so much for this comment and I am so sorry that it took me so long to respond. I really appreciate you saying this. Wishing you a great week ahead, hope to see you here soon 🙏🏼
Man that fold is so tempting. Also awesome videos. Can't believe you aren't at a 100k yet, just ran into your channel. The quality of your videos and review style are very high quality. I've been using a Note 20 ultra forever waiting on something that was a big jump enough to move me over. The Fold 4 and 23 Ultra look like it. Since the Fold 5 should come out this year I'll wait for that before making a final decision.
Amazing video Alex, I sold my fold 4 and got the s23 ultra, in my experience using the fold for 5 months it is a fantastic device for media consumption and general uses, but s23 ultra for me is the Android I dreamed of, almost a perfect device
It’s certainly been a breath of fresh air. I’m quite fortunate to be able to keep both but I’d find it very difficult to let go of my Fold. Still use it everyday where the form factor makes more sense. But the S23 Ultra has retired my iPhone (video on that soon!) and is now my main camera when I’m not using my DSLR
Using a 13 pro max and z fold 4 here. I choose z fold 4 instead of s23 ultra because i need that folding screen for work purposes. Editing in CAD drawings in bigger screen is a no joke. I can literally bring my fold 4 anywhere especially to meetings and present my works in front of client and revised them even I’m out of my computer.
I've been tempted to get the s23 ultra. I used to be a galaxy note user and my last one was the note 20 ultra and before I had: note 9 and note 10+ but when Samsung decided not to release a new one anymore and I saw the Fold 3 I definitely knew that would be my next move. Glad I did it because I love so much the Z fold lineup. Currently I rocking a silver Z Fold 3 and cameras are not enough for me to go back to the S lineup. Besides I've got an iPhone 13 Pro Max and still has an awesome camera... so I'm gonna wait for the Z fold 5 and in that point we'll see many people trade in their S23 haha... Z fold 5 and Iphone 15 Pro Max are my next combo🔥🔥
Reasons to not get the zfold 4 over the S23U 1. Has too slim of a front screen 2. Cannot write ✍️ on the front screen 3. Has no spen slot 4. Cameras should be way better for the $ 5. Has a noticable crease 6. It's not the upcoming zfold 5
I think it comes down to what you prioritise really. I love both for different reasons. I think if I REALLY had to pick one right now it would be (begrudgingly) the S23U because of the camera quality as I do prioritise that. Luckily I don’t have to make that difficult choice but that would be my thinking
Fantastic review Alex! As a songwriter, arranger - the Fold 4 gives me the multitasking ability to transcribe, notate and share scores on the fly. Coming from the note range (2, 4, 5, 8, 10+ and 20 Ultra), I'm used to working with SNote, One Note, NotateMe etc. Since using the Fold 4 (for almost 12 mths), it just makes my workflow so much more simpler and less frustrating. Apart from music, this amazing piece of kit has been valuable in my side-jobs as well.... Freelance Court Reporting/Captioning and Professional Photography.
From Singapore. Great reviews. Since I switched from a Note 10+ to Fold 4, Fold 4 has brought a lot of convenience as my daily driver. The S23U body built is so similar to the past Note series
All i know is that regardless which phone you choose, Samsung has truly innovated in the space of choice for the consumer. I mean they kinda have always been that. Remember the "Galaxy Mega and how it was not only a tall phone but a wide one? IT was pretty much a minitablet with smartphone capabilities not too dissimilar to the Z Fold 4. The evolution into the foldable was a natural next step which makes the form factor much more practical and the general concept much more versatile.
The fold may be a great miniature tablet, but the S22&S23 are the biggest devices I want before actually going to my tablet or computer that can do EVERYTHING! It defeats the purpose to have a fold when my S22 is a productivity powerhouse! I couldn't realistically carry the fold everyday as the S22 is massive. The Spen fits inside and I can work on Microsoft Word on the cloud, updating the same document from my tablet or computer. I just don't see a reason to have a fold when my Tab S7+ even keeps me from my computer and my S22 keeps me productive until I have to use my slim keyboard age S7+ or consume media on a beautifully big, bright screen! I don't even own a TV right now!
The screens on the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra actually suck at general reading. I've never had to zoom in or move a page around to read it like normal slab phone and let's face it slab phones have gotten pretty boring.
I was lucky to have the Snap gen1 on my s22 ultra , so skipping an upgrade I guess that mic audio quality part though is a very important note though , so thanks for highlighting it
I like the fold 4, but it's been 6 months and the hinge doesn't close anymore and the cover screen has been glitching out...I get my replacement next week, but I'm highly considering switching to the S23 ultra until the fold line is more refined...I'd love to see the cover screen that's the size of a normal phone, integrated s pen, and a DUST resistance rating....until then, I'll be going back to the S line.
I purchased the S23U and kept my Z Fold 4. I'll wait to see how the Z Fold 5 updates in August or September. Both are fine devices and I'll use the S23 Ultra as my primary.
Great video mate! I recently traded in my ZFold 3 for the S23U 1TB and haven't looked back. Also have a few mates that traded in their Zfolld 4's for the the new ultra and no regrets there either. Earned yourself a new sub! G'day from downunder 🇦🇺😍
G’day mate! 😊 oh wow, this is awesome! Yes, I think Samsung smashed it with the S 23 ultra… Have a lovely Sunday, I can imagine a barbecue is on the horizon for you. Still a bit crappy over here in the UK.
@@AlexGTech thanks mate! Haha no BBQ today just watching reviews on the upcoming PSVR2. Can't wait to get my hands on it! Bring on Wednesday! Any chance you'll be buying one too? Would make for some awesome content! 😻
If you are into emulation, the Fold 4 is a no brainer - the aspect ratio of the tablet screen is almost perfect for 4:3 content. Paired with a decent controller add-on (I use the Nacon MG-X Pro), its an emulation monster!
@blackbriarwolf handheld video game consoles have been around way longer than cell phones/phablets. Nothing surprising about people using large phones for emulation.
Thank you very much Darwin, I really appreciate it. I think I made a mistake actually and covered the microphone on the S23 Ultra think some of the shots, when I had them side-by-side. Rookie mistake but I think he gives a good idea of how good both of them are
Very informative Alex, really enjoyed how you compared these two phones. For me the S23 is my choice. I do think the Mic sounds better on the F4. Thanks for a super video my friend 👍
Thanks Lee!! I actually realised I had the mic covered by the Fold when I had them side by side on the bracket 🤦🏽♂️ At least you know now that this video wasn’t created by AI 😂 The S23 Ultra sounded much better when I had it by itself and in the previous video. Have a lovely Sunday Lee, hope you’re well!
Thanks for this and I really enjoyed it. I think a more significant difference between the two is the battery and I would like to see a test in comparison as I suspect the fold will be a fair chunk worse.
Thanks Nick, I think you’re right. Under heavy usage though (whole day out from 8AM, recording over 100 clips in 4K, attending conference calls, using navigation, etc) the Fold lasted till about 10PM which to me was quite impressive. Sure it would be nice if it lasted till next day under that usage but with two displays and considering my usage in this example I was pretty ok with it. Comparatively I haven’t extensively tested yet but I think you’re right, the S23 Ultra should outperform the Fold…
Many Fold users, myself included, complain about the narrow outer screen, and it's frustrating that Samsung continues to ignore this feedback. Even the Google Pixel offers a better, more practical outer display. If Samsung ever decides to listen to its customers and releases a Z Fold with an outer screen the size of the S23 or S24, includes a built-in S Pen, and equips it with the best cameras from their top models, I’d gladly spend $2k and switch back to the Z Fold. Until then, I'll just watch them play their marketing games with an underwhelming outer screen and minimal improvements.
One point about watching content on Z Fold 4: While you're not getting bigger video because the shape of the phone versus a traditional smartphone, watching UA-cam or TikTok (which I'm more likely to do on my phone) is more immersive. I'll explain: The comments, recommended videos, and video description can be viewed under the video while watching UA-cam on the inner screen and the video is nearly the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max or S23 Ultra in landscape. Watching Tik-Tok on the inner display has that tall full-screen video form while the comments can be displayed on the right side of it. It's only with apps like Netflix or Disney+ that you're not getting any benefits from the bigger screen. But I think most of us are watching these on tablets and TVs.
I also have the fold and I was never tempted to trade in as I love my phone/ tablet to watch netflix, disney and prime on it. The big screen just can't be beaten. Am really excited about fold 5 tho ! Great video btw very easy to listen to as some youtubers bore you inside first 2 mins 😴
Whoa, the quality of this video is insane. I didn't notice you only had 49k subs..... you really deserve a lot more!! I guarantee you will blow up soon
Thank you so much, Matthew! I appreciate that those sponsored slots can be annoying as not everyone is interested, so I thought I’d try to make them a little bit more fun and useful. Glad you enjoyed it! Have a good one 👊🏼
You know I totally understand people who admire the s23 ultra. But my fold four is exactly what I needed to be. I'm not a huge picture taker or videos really at all. But I do use my phone for work and for play, so the z fold4 is the perfect phone for me. I like to use the inner display alive for watching UA-cam or any video, and for playing games. But I also use it for work and personal email and I like how you can view the emails on the left side in the preview or full email on the right side. The camera in the fold is more than enough quality for what I use it for, which is just vacation and family pictures. I have found myself using the inner screen of the fold 4 to take notes at work, but in actuality I tend to use voice to text for most of my notes. I think I'm going to hold on to my fold four until Samsung releases the fold five.
I have the zf4. Im a bit techy guy so I use smartphone for kinda heavy use. I bought the s23U a week ago, it was indeed super beast. But, I only use it for camera. The z fold 4 is a complete package for me. IMO, zfold is for users like me, and s23U,good for vloggers, photography. Tho, the s23u for me is more comfy for gaming, i just cant go back when u started to use the zfold4. Going to give the s23u to my younger bro to his bday next week.
I agree, none of this sandbagging that others do. Do you want to use your phone as a computer? No problem here's something Dex? Do you want a massive sensor and top-notch 8k video? Here you go
Great video Alex, but I'll comment in Portuguese, since you're Brazilian, just like me 😁. Quero fazer o upgrade do meu S21 Ultra esse ano. Estou esperando o fold 5, mas confesso que o S23 ultra mexeu com meu coração. Espero que o fold 5 supere minhas expectativas. Você arrasa!
my fold 4 broke so i just got a S23 Ultra instead. £739 to repair the fold or pay an extra £600 for a new phone, i think it was completly worth it coming from the S21 Ultra. i never expiernced Snapdragon and i can now say how much i've been missing out, the S23 Ultra is a beast.
Traded my fold 4 for the s23 ultra this week, main reason being i was literally just using the cover screen on the fold 4 so there was no need for the folding ability, the s23U has been amazing so far and im glad i did the switch
I had the chance to fondle a Fold 4 yesterday. A tradesman was at the house and had one. I was shocked that someone who would beat a phone up as much as he would would choose a fold. But for scale, the outside screen actually has just the right size. Throw a case on and it's just a thick and narrow S22.
Yes, I treat my Fold with kids gloves really! Not the best aspect ratio for a lot of people but I quite like that to be honest and the bulk doesn't bother me (given, I don't really carry it in my pocket that much when I go out) But when I have done, it didn't bother me
Oh wow!! What a comment 😊 thank you so much! I did stay up till 3AM on Friday editing this, but hearing such a comment makes all that hard work worthwhile 🙏🏼
@@AlexGTech .... Yes , hardwork and dedication never goes unnoticed! ❤️🙏🏻... One more thing that you often say that you make " down to earth " tech videos.... I have to admit it you really are very down to earth person. Keep up the good work man !
I was an Iphone user, like strict Iphone user but I was super curious about the z fold and z flip so I decided to buy a z flip just to see if I liked it and the only regret I have with switching is the camera quality on social media, especially the front facing camera but other than that I have no regrets.
I vote S23 ultra! But if the followings fold have the spen in house and the cameras of the ultra then I will definitely go for the fold!I suppose we will have to wait till fold 6.......
I got both of them too... There are some times I miss the fold 4 but as a hobby mobile photographer there is only one winner here which is s23 ultra! I'll keep having both for a little while just to make sure but as a someone who is traveling a lot I think perfect combo will be surface pro 9 + s 23 ultra! It really also depends what are the other devices u own and use in daily basis. In this case with recently ordered surface pro 9 I think I will handle my tablet things & advantages with surface and keep shooting with the s23 ultra. Also in my case I have to use fold 4 in a battery saving mode all the time, but on s23 ultra every single features are boosted! it is definitely getting the money worth! I've never been without an iPhone before! but now carrying 2 Samsung devices. I guess Apple should be stressed! :)
3 month old video but you got me to sub. I am using the Note 20 Ultra and have since its launch. Love this phone and it's the first Note I have ever held onto this long without upgrading. This year I want to dip my toe into the Fold pool. So I am waiting on the Fold 5. Seeing that the Fold 4 camera is still capable of taking solid photos and videos considering they can't make it a beast like the ultra. I am now feeling better that the 5 camera will be just as good as the 4 or even a little better. Solid video again. I love that you skip all the spec info because it just comes down to how the phone works in the real world.
Mate, just happened across this video, great content, nice to hear views not commonly said. I like your style and well, I subscribed, look forward to seeing more of your videos!
bro we live in the ultimate age. these devices in our pocket are capable of SO much that it's mindboggling. having said that though the S23 Ultra as Samsung's standard flagship smartphone is definitely the best they have made so far. This phone is literally good at every single thing. I've never loved a phone this much.
Man these videos are addictive even tho I don’t care to much for Samsung lately the quality of the videos and the joy of you enjoying them is refreshing! I love and will keep my dynamic duo of Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 13 mini for a little longer. If Google comes back with frosted glass backs and flat displays on the Pixel 8 Pro then I’ll upgrade but if not I’m keeping these bad boys until then. Thank you for your videos man they really are pure 🔥🔥🔥☄️
Thank you so much! I love tech in general and when the tech is good for my needs it makes my life a lot easier! I still love my Pixel 7 Pro, and need to give it some love but Apple and Samsung releases recently kept me too busy 😅 But whenever I pickup the Pixel 7 Pro I am reminded of how smooth Android can be. Definitely a keeper! I sold my 13 Pro Max but regret it now as it was more enjoyable than my 14PM which now pretty much collects dust 🙈
Not many people aware I love the fold4 aspect ratio while watching content with black bar since i can multitask like view youtube comment or use waze while my kids watching youtube in the car.
Great review, lots of detail and well thought out content. I have the S22 Ultra which is a great phone and have resisted upgrading to the S23 Ultra so far! I hope to hang on for the fold 5!
I'm on an S21 Ultra. Never had a fold. I'm waiting for the fold 5. I'm really going the cameras are just as good as the s3 ultra, that is the only thing really holding me back is the camera technology. Looking forward to what they reveal. I'd love to up grade my S21 ultra... It's age is starting to show.
So I'm going to wait for the fold 6...i really thought this would be the one to get me. I need something more innovative compared to its previous generations. This is like a refined fold 4.
Fold phones are better for people who are more sedentary and are not planning to take their phones out often in public. I had the Fold 4 at launch for 2 weeks and returned it, there was no use cases for me where I needed to open it while using the slim outside screen was a nightmare with everything too narrow. If I'm at home and need a larger screen, I have a laptop/desktop that will do things 10000% better anyways. If not then I'll cast it on a TV.
It's a good point about using the phone outdoors, I'm always very self-conscious of bringing the Fold 4 with me for long walks, etc. Definitely not convenient. But at the same time I absolutely love it when I'm on the train commuting to work or chilling in the evenings
Well. Fold4 is a very nice device on writting article (when idea just come to mind),replying emails, and signing documents on the go. It is absolutly not for everyone. For the ones who have the need, love it; the rest will think of it unuseless.
I have the Z Fold4 and Note20 Ultra and I enjoy both devices. Having the ability to use the Z Fold as a tablet is fantastic. It replaced my iPad mini for photo and video editing, as well as for traveling. As for the Note20 Ultra, I have no plans on upgrading due to the lack of the microSD card slot on the S23 Ultra.
100% agree! Sorry Milo, not sure how I managed to miss this comment 🙏🏼 Really appreciate the support there too. It's been 3 months already and I am still loving the S23 Ultra / Fold 4 combo!
Thank you Stephen! I think I realised as I was editing that I covered the mic on the S23 Ultra when I had them both in the bracket 🙈 When I recorded the S23U by itself and in my previous review, it sounded less muffled. My bad! Both are excellent to be fair…
The Fold's audio recording was much clearer. The S23 Ultra had to much reverb, sounded a bit like talking into a bucket. The split screen outdoor shot didn't specify which phone, but seemed to suggest it was only the S23 audio. The audio comparison interlaced with the promotional segment was a brilliant approach!
Cool, clear, well-structured, wisely delivered, great content and amazing pictures and videos, wonderful voice and sound convinced me to subscribe to this channel ! Well-done ! 👍👍👍👍👍
The S23U camera still isn't adequate for my needs. Tried it at a concert yesterday, and my Nikon Z6ii won easily. So I'm sticking with the flexibility the Fold 4 offers me.
There both 2 different phones!..both are great with different features that will appeal to alot of people...for me I'm using a fold 3 and loving it!..I'm more into a bigger screen for content, camera isn't an issue for me.
Wow, this was fun to create. Both of these phones are so good now! Which one do you prefer though?
As promised, here is the video where I test the S23 Ultra call quality: ua-cam.com/video/Lq7GSmcUTSk/v-deo.html
The Fold 4 long term review on the channel also includes a call quality. Have a great day 🙏🏼
Watching on S23 ultra green 12/256. WoW this is epic. Your videos also. Great going on👍
I will switch to fold only if has wider screen front, and UDC on the inner screen will be usable for zoom conference. Also need a flagship camera on such a flagship fold.

@ 5:06 8K on S213 Ultra.... Oops! Thanks for the awesome content!

The deciding factor for me, rn--Which handles PoGo & Kartrider better? Can you assist on that?
I was going to take the plunge to the S23U but decided I'll stick with my Fold 3 until the Fold 5 comes out. Or until the screen breaks. Lol I would really miss a lot of the features that the Fold brings in terms of multitasking. And having a tablet on demand for video playback after recording footage and then making a small clip to share with parents is awesome.
Great video. More real world usage than a lot of other review videos.
Thank you Ian!! Yes, I am legit excited for the Fold 5. In the past I kinda ignored the foldables but since this Fold 4, I am 100% a convert. Looking forward to it
I also have the fold 3,I paid 650 for it,, awaiting for the fold 5. And I will still keep my 3. and just wait for the 5 price drop.
Having both is basically a superpower 🤣 I agree with you, they both have their place in different situations
I'm kinda jealous that you can have both lol
No mobile phone camera can replace dslr and no fold phone can replace tablet / laptop / desktop.
@@saltnpepper6675 No DLSR or laptop or desktop can fit in your pocket.
Same! It just sucks when the new fold comes out cause I will probably find a way to afford it and justify an upgrade....again haha
Excited to get the s23u since it really resembles the note but let me know what you’re referring to
Of course !!!! FOLD overpriced too fragile no dust protection cameras suck, too lacking
@@FLXTLINE_M3you should wait for the new fold 5 that’s coming out soon.
fold cameras are great. now the inside cam not all that but you have 3 options lol
Damn the fold 4 microphones are on another level. That noise cancellation is excellent
So good right? The S23 Ultra are great too, I realised I made a mistake when I had both phones on the bracket. I accidentally covered the S23 Ultra’s mic with the Fold next to it 🤦♂️
But when I had just a S 23 ultra by itself, is sounded great. To be fair, both are excellent
Great video! I'm glad someone finally put video content between these devices side by side, because of the Z4 format factor the fold videos are not that much bigger, especially in 21:9 aspect ratio
Ive had the fold 4 for less than a year and am on my 3rd warranty repair. They just arent ready for primetime.
The only thing that drives me crazy on fold is how reflective the inner screen of fold 4 is... Otherwise it's a beast, but I traded it for s23 ultra and tbh I don't regret it, atm 😅
Yes and I made a terrible mistake when I unboxed it and removed the protector that came with it 🤯 I'm looking after it and still holding up really well but I reflection can be annoying depending on where you're using it
Can't wait to I guess get one now
Absolutely, overall the Samsung screens are very reflective and I agree for the Fold 4. I wanted the wide screen to show pictures to people easily but it's getting in the way!
got my fold 4 yesterday and im absolutely loving it. i was on the note 20 ultra before but wanted something different, something that isnt just upgraded specs, and the fold 4 is everything i wanted
We are on the same page , just that my phone is note 10+ and I'm yet to get my fold 4.
You are me lol
Fold5 finally came to Open PO.. but it's just minor update...
Had the s22 ultra and upgraded to the fold 4. I can't see myself moving away from the fold. Love that it can turn into a mini tablet!
Cheers 🍻
😊
Very smart of you to do the audio comparison while promoting the sponsor. I like it - subbed!
Oh wow, thank you so much!! That really means a lot you know? I will make sure to keep creating videos like this 🙏🏼 Have a great day!
Probably it's 600 dollars more
I'm a multitasking extremist.
I'm doing exactly the same thing, except I'm comparing the Zfold 5 to the iphone 15 pro max whenever they both come out.
The Fold 5 NEEDS to make significant updates
I am pretty happy with it rigth now, but better cameras would be the cherry on top!
Too overpriced and fragile
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN what's the colour of your fold?
The problem wirh the fold despite it foldable festure it does not have it own identity...

Thank you so much!! With support like this the sky is the limit 👊🏼 have a good one
An older video that still earned a new sub. Good work, sir.
Amazing video Alex, I sold my fold 4 and got the s23 ultra, in my experience using the fold for 5 months it is a fantastic device for media consumption and general uses, but s23 ultra for me is the Android I dreamed of, almost a perfect device
I'm curious to know more specifics as to why.
Which speakers were better?
Very little difference in the speakers. For alert sounds the Z Fold 4 sounds fuller and for music I'd say the S23 Ultra sounds slightly better.
@@adamski101 The Fold5 has now taken the krone.
My last phone were:
-Note9 Black
-Note10+ 5G Black
-Note20 Ultra Black
-Fold3 Silver
Is it possible that we both rocked the same phones? 😎😂
Awe yeah... You'll be set for a while phone wise
Reasons to not get the zfold 4 over the S23U
1. Has too slim of a front screen
2. Cannot write ✍️ on the front screen
3. Has no spen slot
4. Cameras should be way better for the $
5. Has a noticable crease
Oh wow, thank you so much!! And I agree, the last coupe of S Ultras have been Note phones really.... Have a good one 🙏🏼
@@shiesty4139 you can literally zoom in the whole screen!
I was lucky to have the Snap gen1 on my s22 ultra , so skipping an upgrade I guess
that mic audio quality part though is a very important note though , so thanks for highlighting it
Yes, my S22U has been pretty iffy. Admittedly it’s been ok since the last update but now I am selling it…
I like the fold 4, but it's been 6 months and the hinge doesn't close anymore and the cover screen has been glitching out...I get my replacement next week, but I'm highly considering switching to the S23 ultra until the fold line is more refined...I'd love to see the cover screen that's the size of a normal phone, integrated s pen, and a DUST resistance rating....until then, I'll be going back to the S line.
yo ahora cambio mi fold4 ( despues 1 año y ya anda mal. muchos problemas) por S23ultra
Yes, I think Samsung smashed it with the S 23 ultra…

Paired with a decent controller add-on (I use the Nacon MG-X Pro), its an emulation monster!
can you tell me what app you use for emulation
@blackbriarwolf its a mini tablet the screen is big enough i've seen people cloud play games like forza horizon on their small phone
@blackbriarwolf handheld video game consoles have been around way longer than cell phones/phablets. Nothing surprising about people using large phones for emulation.
Excellent video! You did a great job on the Mics. I know it took a lot of effort to have this kind of video
I'll explain:
The comments, recommended videos, and video description can be viewed under the video while watching UA-cam on the inner screen and the video is nearly the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max or S23 Ultra in landscape.
What a genius way to integrate your ad so that no one skips it. Bravo
I am trying to support you man, Finally someone realised that Samsung flagships are the best.
People dont know samsung give u what u want in a smart phone they are different from other company
I think happened till now you was up for debate because of the video quality, but with the S23 Ultra they really smashed it!
Espero que o fold 5 supere minhas expectativas.

my fold 4 broke so i just got a S23 Ultra instead. £739 to repair the fold or pay an extra £600 for a new phone, i think it was completly worth it coming from the S21 Ultra. i never expiernced Snapdragon and i can now say how much i've been missing out, the S23 Ultra is a beast.

Thanks Phillip! And wow, that’s a huge superpower to have these two! I’m loving mine too, the iPhone is collecting a bit of extra dust right now 😂

Traded my fold 4 for the s23 ultra this week, main reason being i was literally just using the cover screen on the fold 4 so there was no need for the folding ability, the s23U has been amazing so far and im glad i did the switch
Awesome video as usual. They're getting better and better good job
Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you to say so. Have a lovely week ahead. 😎
Not the best aspect ratio for a lot of people but I quite like that to be honest and the bulk doesn't bother me (given, I don't really carry it in my pocket that much when I go out) But when I have done, it didn't bother me
great video on a subject i was considering myself! thanks
My pleasure 🥰

I was an Iphone user, like strict Iphone user but I was super curious about the z fold and z flip so I decided to buy a z flip just to see if I liked it and the only regret I have with switching is the camera quality on social media, especially the front facing camera but other than that I have no regrets.
For me it's entertainment. I enjoy watching videos on the big display.
Oh boy, you made me Listen to squarespace advertisement happily. Very smart. 🎉
I know it's not something everyone would be interested in so I tried to make it useful 🥰 Glad it worked!
The quality of content on your channel was amazing! Reminds me of MrWhoseTheBoss! Arun would be proud :)
Wow, that some compliment 🤩thanks!
For me the front pocketability is very important and although the fold is chunky, the ultra would be way too wide and big.
Great video!!.....you keep getting better and better.
Thank you so much!!
bro we live in the ultimate age. these devices in our pocket are capable of SO much that it's mindboggling. having said that though the S23 Ultra as Samsung's standard flagship smartphone is definitely the best they have made so far. This phone is literally good at every single thing. I've never loved a phone this much.
I have to say, it’s been a long time since I felt like this about a smartphone. Just superb.
@@AlexGTech how do change e sims between your phones and WhatsApp for example ?
Not many people aware I love the fold4 aspect ratio while watching content with black bar since i can multitask like view youtube comment or use waze while my kids watching youtube in the car.
Great review, lots of detail and well thought out content. I have the S22 Ultra which is a great phone and have resisted upgrading to the S23 Ultra so far! I hope to hang on for the fold 5!
Thank you so much!! Yes, the ZF5 will be an absolute beast!
I like what i am seeing. Video quality is top notch. Keep them videos coming!!!
Thanks! Will do! Really appreciate you saying that 👊🏼
Amazing quality video production 👍👍
Thank you so much!!
very polished content and presentation. you, my friend, have earned my subscription. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Oh wow thank you so much!! Welcome to the channel 👊🏼
Bro can you tell me how your note 20 ultra holding up so far ?
@DEEPAK THAKUR The Note20 Ultra has aged pretty well. One UI 5 made the phone feel smoother.
I love your view on things, brother. Great down to earth video .
Thank you Alex! I've been burned many times before 😅 probably why I'm more relaxed these days. Have a great rest of the weekend!
_"These phones are head-and-shoulders above the iPhone in pretty much every single way."_
**TRUTH.**
100% agree! Sorry Milo, not sure how I managed to miss this comment 🙏🏼 Really appreciate the support there too. It's been 3 months already and I am still loving the S23 Ultra / Fold 4 combo!
Everyone of these videos always ends with "It all comes down to what is best for you and what you need"... never a clear cut answer on which is best..
Awesome review. Thanks for sharing. Struggling to decide which one to upgrade to.
Excellent Presentation 👏
I prefer the mics on fold 4 more fully
Thank you Stephen! I think I realised as I was editing that I covered the mic on the S23 Ultra when I had them both in the bracket 🙈 When I recorded the S23U by itself and in my previous review, it sounded less muffled. My bad! Both are excellent to be fair…
Regarding microphone would like to hear your opinion about them
around 8:24 is when I spent sometime testing the mics. Both are great, but the S23 Ultra seems to have the edge. What did you think?
@Alex Gear & Tech yes agreed fold louder but s23 cleaner, but with my ear to hear other people's opinions because I have an issue
Fantastic video bro..both phones are incredible. The s23 ultra is on another level but it's hard for me to put my fold 4 down!!
Thanks Jeff 🙏🏼 appreciate it bro. And I agree, it would be hard to leave the Fold now. I’m 100% a convert to foldables. Have a great week ahead man 👊🏼
Nicely put together dude…..subbed and look forward to future content 🤝
Cool, clear, well-structured, wisely delivered, great content and amazing pictures and videos, wonderful voice and sound convinced me to subscribe to this channel ! Well-done ! 👍👍👍👍👍
S23U. Even though I'm not fussed about cameras and I do multitask even when I game, I'm never a fan of foldable phones.
ive had fold 4 and s23 ultra and i still dont know which is best i love both. good video 1st ive seen def subscribing keep it up
Great video I like the bloopers well done
🥰thanks so much 🙏🏼
Outstanding video ! Well done 👍.
Thank you very much! Looking forward to creating more on this!
Note 20 ultra user here, 1.512tb of storage, 3.06ghz processor, 12gb of ram. 108 mp camera I don't think I'm switching anytime soon
Congrats on the content Alex! Awesome video Bro!
really great job man cheers !!!
Thanks very much! Enjoyed making this, when the tech is that good it makes everything easy
I'm a fold 4 user and it would take something extra special for me to change
I hear you! Such an amazing device, absolutely love it
I have just got a Fold 4 and wouldn't ever go back to a more normal phone
I hear you! I am totally a convert to foldables, love it!
The S23U camera still isn't adequate for my needs. Tried it at a concert yesterday, and my Nikon Z6ii won easily. So I'm sticking with the flexibility the Fold 4 offers me.
Great review
Recently bought s23 since my s9 upgrade.. and damn!! I have no complaints.. its crazy how you can share whats on your phone to you desktop
There both 2 different phones!..both are great with different features that will appeal to alot of people...for me I'm using a fold 3 and loving it!..I'm more into a bigger screen for content, camera isn't an issue for me.
