  • I made a video showing how to repair a broken fitting on a hydraulic cylinder. Most common breaks are on excavators and skid loaders. Buying a new one can be upwards of $500 dollars. This fix is easy to do if you have a welder and a angle grinder.
    I keep stock fittings for making hoses, but you can buy these at Advance auto parts, NAPA, O'Reilly Auto Parts and many others.
    Don't mind the welds... Not the best. I was trying to hurry and make the video. Most of my other ones do not look like that! HAHA.
    Any questions please let me know. Please like and subscribe if this video was helpful.
    Notice!!!
    Please don't weld after cleaning parts with Brake Cleaner. Only use after you are completely finished as vapors may decompose to harmful or fatal corrosive gases such as hydrogen chloride and possibly phosgene.

    Very encouraging. I've got three cylinders to weld fittings to, the originals having rusted away. I was worried about the quality of my welds but not so much now. 😂
    Thanks again!

    thanks this just happened to my bobcat cylinder. New to this. how easy is it to take off the cylinder so I can take to a local welding shop to fix\?? Anything I should be aware of when I remove and put back on the fixed cylinder? thanks!

      Just take the pins out. Use a hammer and punch. After you put it back on, make sure to move all of your cylinders for a while to get rid of any trapped air.

      @rosincore how do you remove the hydrolic fluid. Isn't it flammable? Thanks for the quick reply. Fitting broke off right before the threads :( was hoping it was just the fitting leaking

    • @rosincore
      @rosincore  Рік тому

      @boostedG when you unscrew the cap most the of fluid comes out. It takes around 900 degrees for hydraulic fluid to burn. I've never had an issue with it. Just make sure the tube is empty. When you pull the rod out, all the fluid inside is able to come out freely

      The metal is very thin and won't hold the pressure

    terrible weld seam. also do not remove the color

    • @rosincore
      @rosincore  Рік тому +2

      the seam weld was bad due to running .25 wire. I usually use .35 wire and had to use what i got. The paint don't matter. I usually use a primer and a quick coat of rust oleum charcoal to coat it all.

      @sackvilleweldingservices yes, and it was cheap 10 dollar roll of wire. I usually run lincoln .035 super arc l-56 and have zero issues
