Yes! That’s also my favourite way to eat it! Though they also sell jicaletas here, which is a big slice that’s covered in some chili powder and chamoy and it’s really lovely too 😩
Chop it up into cubes, toss with cilantro, a little olive oil, chopped peppers, lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste with diced mango and you got a mango-jicama salsa. I just made this to put on sauteed shrimp on top of lettuce.
Made a jicama, black bean and corn side dish just now. I added red onion, cilantro, salt & pepper, smoked paprika and a little cumin. Tossed it all with a cilantro lime dressing. It's amazing! My husband and I thought the jicama itself tasted like a mix between a potato, celery and apple.
Haha....I found this video looking for uses of this as we got some here at the local food bank I work at! It's still "too strange" for a lot of our clients, but maybe this will help me guide them!
When I am fortunate enough to find nice fresh jicama in my local grocery store, I often approach other customers and ask them if they have tried it! My main ways of eating it are raw, in salads and stir-fried in place of canned water chestnuts! (Being an older lady, I feel pretty safe in doing this!)
Thats cause you are supposed to eat some not one. Lol! You shouldnt eat the whole thing in a day. Thing is loaded with fiber so it will empty you out if you eat too much.
We slice them up and add lime, chili powder and a hint of salt IT'S SO GOOD
I just eat it straight away after peeling it. Sweet and refreshing

I didn't get it. Where does the jicama come from?
Native to Mexico. The rest of the plant like the leaves and pea pods are posioness. The root here as shown is great to consume raw or cooked.
It can be juiced also.
Peeler works great. Just pull towards you.
Slap some Tajín… done.
Can I air-fry Jicama sticks like french fries?
I have been eatting it raw. It reminds me of a sweet potato.
Can u boil Jicama???
Can I use it dear
Boil like in stew ???
Who like Jicama???
Why not eat the peelings??
peelings have a kind of leathery texture and no a good taste. So it is better don't eat them.
Bettering raw like a fruit, Rutabaga and potatoes are better the get harder when you cook them lol way to expensive
