I have not stopped crying since this was released on Friday. This is the most beautiful rendition of this song I've ever heard. They were ALL amazing. Rob and Austin sounded incredible. Don can surely still sing. What is Home Free going to do without Austin and what is Austin going to do without Home Free. So sad.

I thought it was a stroke of genius to use just have the guitar with no additional percussion. Rob certainly rises to the occasion. I also love how each of them froze one by one until they became part of the painting. Great reaction as usual.

This is truly phenomenal! What a voice Don McLean still has! Wow. And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well.
If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻......💖 💖💖💖💖💖
Love, love love. And Rob's voice was perfect with Don! They were in my hometown on the 10th, the show was MAGNIFICENT , but bittersweet knowing it was the last time I would see Austin with them in concert. So happy they made it to our beautiful, historic theater. Love watching with you!
I know how you feel, I saw them in late April. Just to know it would most likely be the last time I saw Austin in person made me want to cry. It was also Magnificent, seamed like Austin did not hold back at all, just Awesome !!! He has always been my favorite anyway.
I loved seeing the anticipation in your face- probably reflective of all of us Home Fries. This song is from my high school years. I’ve always loved it. And we were blessed to hear Angelic Rob in this. And Don still has it. His voice still sounds great. The ebb and flow of the harmonies was just lovely.
Interesting tidbit: some scholars believe Van Gogh didn't actually take his own life. There were a few kids he knew in his area that would come up and talk with him occasionally, and one dressed like a cowboy sometimes and carried a pistol on him. It's speculated that the kid accidentally shot him while messing around, and Vincent insisted that he had shot himself to keep them from getting in trouble. The bullet went through his chest at a weird angle, and wasn't really fatal in itself, but he died of the infection it caused two days after being wounded. He was evidently ready to go, but he may not have pulled the trigger himself. I mean, we'll never know, but it's an interesting take. Love this song, and this version.

Being 70 this song has travelled along the years with me. It is a very beautiful song, the lyrics so emotional for Vincents' tragic life. The singing was so pure so clear. The videography was amazing. BTW is Adam ok, he looked very gaunt? Nana Karen UK

This was always my favorite song from the American Pie Album. The guys helped created such a wonderful mood. I will really miss Austin and Rob harmonizing together.

I had never of this song before as i was never a big fan of Don McLean. His American Pie is the only one of his songs i recognize, but since i love Home Free, i thought I'd give a listen to this song, and its absolutely beautiful! Don and Rob did a wonderful job, then Austin harmonizing with Rob...perfect!
That song has made me tear up since I first heard it as a teenager in the early '70s. It still does. The addition of Home Free's voices with Don's has just made it better.
I actually got to see Starry Night a number of years ago in a museum and couldn't stop crying. I have no idea how long I stood there with tears just dripping off my jaw, but I couldn't make them stop. Seeing the brush strokes and ridges of paint was so heartbreaking and uplifting. And this song was in my head the entire time. Thank you for the fantastic reaction. I'm right there with you - it's one of my absolute favorites.

On the American Pie song, Tim and Austin did meet him and went into the studio with Don to record with their Producer Darren Rust. There is a behind-the-scenes video showing that. The others did not meet him during those times, but I know they have all met the man.

For a couple of years now I have dreamed they covered this song. Dreams do come true. My hubby of 52 years is Vincent and is a painter!
A magical masterpiece collaboration and performance.
When they collaborated on "American Pie" it was done separately during the Covid lockdowns. It so nice that they can be together for "Vincent". Home Free's harmonies are incomparable & Don McLean is such a masterful lyricist - this song is so deep, it's poetry set to music. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
Still brings tears, as it did when originally released. Rob's voice is so silky and a perfect complement to Don's. Of course, Austin has that natural 'cry' which works given the subject. Worth noting that we get Adam singing, and carrying some of those tenor notes when Rob and Austin are featured. Don sounds amazing especially given his age. The guys excel at all genres but nice to hear them take a step back to this classic.

This is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.

Well, that was fast! Lol I just asked to react to this one in the last post! 😂 I know it was already done since you’re a legit and long time Home Fry! This was stunningly beautiful! I believe “American Pie” is the only other cover they’ve recorded with/without Don. If there is one, then I’ve got a big brain fog going on! Lol Rob and Austin really showed up, as did Don! His voice is still really, really great! This has already gone on several playlists!

You should try a band from Scotland called SKERRYVORE and their song called ( Take My Hand )
Don couldn't have chosen any other group or individual to do justice to this remake of his beautiful masterpiece. Home Free's respect for Don and his music truly stands out. The simplicity of the video grabs your heart in a way a more complicated filming would have detracted from the beauty of this iconic song and Don's voice. Leave it to Home Free to outdo themselves again.
