I had never of this song before as i was never a big fan of Don McLean. His American Pie is the only one of his songs i recognize, but since i love Home Free, i thought I'd give a listen to this song, and its absolutely beautiful! Don and Rob did a wonderful job, then Austin harmonizing with Rob...perfect!
Rob was born to sing this song. OMG that is beautiful. One of the most poetic songs ever recorded, just made a little better. Thanks, Christy for sponsoring. Lyle, great reaction as usual.
I have not stopped crying since this was released on Friday. This is the most beautiful rendition of this song I've ever heard. They were ALL amazing. Rob and Austin sounded incredible. Don can surely still sing. What is Home Free going to do without Austin and what is Austin going to do without Home Free. So sad.
Still brings tears, as it did when originally released. Rob's voice is so silky and a perfect complement to Don's. Of course, Austin has that natural 'cry' which works given the subject. Worth noting that we get Adam singing, and carrying some of those tenor notes when Rob and Austin are featured. Don sounds amazing especially given his age. The guys excel at all genres but nice to hear them take a step back to this classic.
I thought it was a stroke of genius to use just have the guitar with no additional percussion. Rob certainly rises to the occasion. I also love how each of them froze one by one until they became part of the painting. Great reaction as usual.
Hauntingly beautiful lyrics about the troubled life of Van Gogh. Don also knows how to paint a picture with his lyrics. #HomeFree collaborations are the best and always ensure the featured artist(s) takes the spotlight. Just WOW!
On the American Pie song, Tim and Austin did meet him and went into the studio with Don to record with their Producer Darren Rust. There is a behind-the-scenes video showing that. The others did not meet him during those times, but I know they have all met the man.
This is a beautiful rendition of this song! Simply magical! Don sounds great, Rob was perfect for this and Rob and Austin’s harmonies were beautiful. Total perfection! Thank you for your sincere reaction. ❤ #HomeFree
I loved seeing the anticipation in your face- probably reflective of all of us Home Fries. This song is from my high school years. I’ve always loved it. And we were blessed to hear Angelic Rob in this. And Don still has it. His voice still sounds great. The ebb and flow of the harmonies was just lovely.
I also really love this song! They did such a great job with harmonies and Rob’s voice is perfect to add in there to solo with Don, then a little of Austin! Just gorgeous!! And fading into the painting and then out to a museum looking at the painting!❤❤❤ Absolutely Perfect!!❤❤❤ Thanks for the great reaction!!❤
One of my very favorite songs ❤️🥰❤️ The voices and harmonies are outstanding. Love Don. He still has it. Home Free is the perfect accompaniment to his songs.
This is truly phenomenal! What a voice Don McLean still has! Wow. And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well. If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻......💖 💖💖💖💖💖
WOW Don sound like he sings this in early 70, it's a heartbreaking 💔💔song, and when Rob came in tears running. 😢😢thanks Lyle for your reaction, hugs from Norway 🫂🫂
Being 70 this song has travelled along the years with me. It is a very beautiful song, the lyrics so emotional for Vincents' tragic life. The singing was so pure so clear. The videography was amazing. BTW is Adam ok, he looked very gaunt? Nana Karen UK
They did an absolutely amazing job with this song. Rob's tone was perfect for this song. And I love when Austin and Rob sing together. Always really enjoy watching your reaction to these guys and their music.
Love, love love. And Rob's voice was perfect with Don! They were in my hometown on the 10th, the show was MAGNIFICENT , but bittersweet knowing it was the last time I would see Austin with them in concert. So happy they made it to our beautiful, historic theater. Love watching with you!
I know how you feel, I saw them in late April. Just to know it would most likely be the last time I saw Austin in person made me want to cry. It was also Magnificent, seamed like Austin did not hold back at all, just Awesome !!! He has always been my favorite anyway.
This was always my favorite song from the American Pie Album. The guys helped created such a wonderful mood. I will really miss Austin and Rob harmonizing together.
I really didn't think this song could get any more beautiful. How wrong I was! I also didn't think Rob could top his End of the Road vocals, wrong again! Standing O.❤❤
When they collaborated on "American Pie" it was done separately during the Covid lockdowns. It so nice that they can be together for "Vincent". Home Free's harmonies are incomparable & Don McLean is such a masterful lyricist - this song is so deep, it's poetry set to music. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
I've always loved this song and Home Free has made me love it even more. Bonus, we get to hear Adam's sweet voice. Don still sounds wonderful. And, Rob!!! Thanks for the Home Free reactions
That song has made me tear up since I first heard it as a teenager in the early '70s. It still does. The addition of Home Free's voices with Don's has just made it better. I actually got to see Starry Night a number of years ago in a museum and couldn't stop crying. I have no idea how long I stood there with tears just dripping off my jaw, but I couldn't make them stop. Seeing the brush strokes and ridges of paint was so heartbreaking and uplifting. And this song was in my head the entire time. Thank you for the fantastic reaction. I'm right there with you - it's one of my absolute favorites.
This is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.
How good was that WOW !! They have a deep respect for one another. Well done Homefree, well done Don and thankyou for accepting our beautiful boys into YOUR song.Great reaction thankyou.#Homefree
Liam, you said it perfectly and beautifully. I think it’s such an honor for the boys and me to see this collaboration and yet I think even Don knows how good HF is and the feeling is probably mutual. Don sounds great for his 70’s! I know I’d want a print of that final “painting”. How cool is that?!!! Good one Liam!🤩😄🥲
Oh Lyle! The pure joy on your face was precious, and your words were heartfelt. There was a reverence about the way they executed this sad story, and it’s rewarding that they were able to be together. This collaboration was perfect! 🎶 Cyd
Well, that was fast! Lol I just asked to react to this one in the last post! 😂 I know it was already done since you’re a legit and long time Home Fry! This was stunningly beautiful! I believe “American Pie” is the only other cover they’ve recorded with/without Don. If there is one, then I’ve got a big brain fog going on! Lol Rob and Austin really showed up, as did Don! His voice is still really, really great! This has already gone on several playlists!
Don couldn't have chosen any other group or individual to do justice to this remake of his beautiful masterpiece. Home Free's respect for Don and his music truly stands out. The simplicity of the video grabs your heart in a way a more complicated filming would have detracted from the beauty of this iconic song and Don's voice. Leave it to Home Free to outdo themselves again.
Don still has a wonderful voice. He is also a true poet for this song. The collaboration between Don and Home Free is once again magic

My favorite of his as well. Home Free brings a full sound to the song , and OMG Rob was incredible. I can't get enough of this version.

This is one of Rob’s favorite songs. He sounded beautiful on it. They all sounded great together. ❤

Yes it is so sad !! Wished he could have worked it out and stayed with Home Free, but we want him to be happy.
Still brings tears, as it did when originally released. Rob's voice is so silky and a perfect complement to Don's. Of course, Austin has that natural 'cry' which works given the subject. ❤🤠#HomeFree. ❤#DonMcLean. Beautiful collaboration. Amazing ❤.Great reaction 🏠🍟
Great every second: Don, Home Free, Rob! Can't hear enough!
Music magic ; Home Free & Don McLean....it can't get any better than that. Perfection

For a couple of years now I have dreamed they covered this song. Dreams do come true. My hubby of 52 years is Vincent and is a painter!
Wow Don McLean can still sing! This is really great- so relaxing and perfect harmony as usual!
Takes your breath away doesn't it?! Thanks for doing this one Lyle! Be well, be happy, be blessed. Sending love your way from the Oregon coast!
Lovely. I like the end where they all became a part of the painting, then had them admire Van Gogh's works in a museum. Thanks Lyle.
The respect shown to this song is incredible. Just an amazing tribute!
Gives me chills!
Thank you Lyle for this review. Honestly one of the most calming and reflective songs done…❤
I've always loved this song and Home Free has made me love it even more. Bonus, we get to hear Adam's sweet voice. Don still sounds wonderful. And, Rob!!! Thanks for the Home Free reactions
Don still has an amazing voice. Our boys as usual sound great. Beautiful but very sad. ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely beautiful ❤😢
So gorgeous. Exceptional collaboration. Such a beautiful, melancholy song.

It would be a good suvenir for the video

So beautiful. I just watched Austin sing ANGEL. Hope you'll check it out on your channel.
This was perfect and it was always one of my favorite songs. It's great to hear that Don still has the beautiful voice.

They did American Boys with Don. It's the first track (if Im not mistaken) on his album that is being released or has been released
@@staceysmith8173 I forgot about that one!
@bethcoussou I did too until someone reminded me of it. Don't worry it's coming. We HAVE to have it, of course
Love ur portrait Lyle!!! This thar we have listened to is perfection
Just beautiful 🦋💕🦋🎵
This is calming
Very nice, Lyle. Always enjoy your reactions!
Given the theme of this song, this song too is a masterpiece.
Appreciated your comments.
One of the most painful lyrics I've ever heard..."They did not listen then. They're not listing still. Perhaps they never will".
Love This ❤❤
No one can beat Austin and Rob with harmony, not even family.!
Don couldn't have chosen any other group or individual to do justice to this remake of his beautiful masterpiece. Home Free's respect for Don and his music truly stands out. Can’t wait!!!!😍😍😍
You should try a band from Scotland called SKERRYVORE and their song called ( Take My Hand )
It's not, McClaine, but McClean, like clean the dishes!
No I pronounced it right.
:)
