Don knew what he was doing in choosing Home Free to remake this hauntingly beautiful masterpiece with him. Perfection! Amazing how Don's voice is still as lovely as ever.

Rob posted on socials that this was his favorite song. His voice reminds me of a young Don McLean. It was sung with such heart.

I can't hear this without getting goosebumps and tears in my eyes. Rob, Rob, Rob! And it's enhanced by the contrast of Don's voice, and Austin's, and the rest of the guys, and the song is already simply stunningly impactful on its own.
This is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.
Don’s music is magic. Add Rob’s perfect vocals and the Van Gogh visuals = fantastic performance. Ending with them looking at Vincent’s paintings is a nice touch.
I have to thank Home Free (and Don McLean) for bringing this song back to my attention. I cannot remember the last time I heard it. This song is a true gem. Not just for the tune, but it has the most amazing lyrics, perfectly 'painting' the life of Vincent Van Gogh. A real masterpiece of a song, and very well done/redone.
Home Free has done three songs with Don McLean. They are background on the title track of Don McLean’s March 2024 album “American Boys”.
Hauntingly beautiful lyrics about the troubled life of Van Gogh. Don also knows how to paint a picture with his lyrics. #HomeFree collaborations are the best and always ensure the featured artist(s) takes the spotlight. Just WOW!

And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well.
If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻......💖 💖💖💖💖💖
This is Don’s song, with HomeFree supporting in the background. But even here, Rob and Austin sound so good together. Gonna miss this pairing.

This song is about artist Vincent Van Gogh (one of Van Gogh's most famous paintings was "Starry Night" ). Most people believe that Van Gogh suffered from severe bipolar depression (experience really high manic highs and also really severe depressions). Some believe Van Gogh was also schizophrenic. Van Gog committed suicide (after he cut off one of his ears). The paintings in the background are all by Van Gogh, including "Starry NIght". And as uber-talented as Adam Rupp is, I'm glad they didn't add beat boxing to this song. It would have ruined it for me. This song didn't need it. I'll enjoy Adam's percussion on other songs.
Rob's smooth voice is like velvet.
Knowing Vincent Van Goghs life story I found this particular version of Homefree and Don McCleans stunning, sad and beautifully sung.I notice a smile cross your face when Adam was harmonising. I almost couldn't tell Rob and then Austin apart when they sang their parts. Vincent's suicide and tragic life came across with such feeling.Thankyou for your lovely reaction.❤❤❤❤❤ ❤

Every once in a while, a song comes along that will hit you in such a way that is difficult to explain .... stunning is a good word for it ... maybe spectacular. It's hard for me to listen to for very personal reasons, but I do love how beautiful the delivery from Home Free is, especially Rob and how they put Austin on the high harmony at just the right spots to accent some of the lyrics and add to the "big" feel of the song as a whole. Also, Don McLean has such a sincere, storytelling quality to his voice and always has, which is part of why this song is so poignant and timeless. One more thing ... mental health is really important and still way too stigmatized even in our modern day. Just wanted to add that, again, for personal reasons. Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece.

This is stunning! I was a junior in high school when this song first hit the air waves so I am very familiar with it. This is better than the original because of the background harmonies. When they collaborated on "American Pie" it was done separately during the Covid lockdowns. It so nice that they can be together for "Vincent". Don McLean is such a masterful lyricist - this song is so deep, it's poetry set to music. Thanks for playing this & your comments.

I do wonder if that last scene was filmed in New York City, at the Modern Museum of Art has an incredible exhibition of Vincent van Gogh's paintings....it sure looks like it. I've been there twice but it has been almost 30 years since I saw it in person
