Yesterday at a Dr appt (that I don't like) but have No choice, my BP was 176/76. But when I saw my GP in February, my BP was 138/84. A couple years ago my GP prescribed "low dose" BP meds but I refused to take them and this BP number is exactly why! This is my belief, Each of us are different! Not one of us have the same DNA, or Finger Prints! God made each of us unique! So why should we think that everyone of us should have a BP of 120/80??? Just ponder that! 😮
Dr Story: First, let me say that of 90% of the doctors I see on UA-cam I find you to be the most down to earth and sensible doctor. I have watched a ton of videos on blood pressure and I have yet to see any advice that’s different from everything I have tried. When I was 28 years old I was told I had high blood pressure. At that time I changed my 20 something life style. I tried biofeedback, transcendental meditation, I took cycling, changed my diet, and I did some family history research. I discovered in the research that all of the men on my Dad’s side of the family all had high blood pressure and died in their early to mid seventies from heart problems. Long story short, I take time to just shut down every day. If I were to label my diet it would be Mediterranean. I walk 3 to 4 miles every day. I’m still cycling. I have literally put tens of thousands of miles on my legs doing training, charity rides, and bike tours. I’ll be doing another bike tour this summer. I’m now 72 years old. I’m still 160lbs. And, I still have high blood pressure. I do take medication for it. My point to this rambling on is that I must be one of those people who has high blood pressure and the medical community doesn’t know why. One more point: I just had an echocardiogram and my heart is just fine. I don’t know what these numbers mean but I was told that when they measure the discharge rate of your heart 40 is a good number. 50 is excellent. Mine is 58. I attribute that to my almost 45 years of cycling. Enjoy your channel!
Keep in mind that an echo cardiogram is probably the least effective tool for assessing heart health. You have to go nuclear to really see what's going on.
Thanks Dr, Story! I have followed your advice and have been able to reduce my BP medication to 1/2 pill a day. I am still working on trying to be off of it completely. This mornings BP readings were 116/82 and 125/72.
Thank you so much Dr. You were so sincere about it. As for me, I developed High BP during pregnancy, was placed on med, that after birth it will return to normal but No, it rather fluctuates. When I go to check in the hospital my heart beats a lot, but once am on ma way out, I feel more relaxed. Am realy nt in for the meds and stopped taking it long time ago, I prefer the natural way.
Some times a little more sleep. I sleep 2 hours longer. Now I am older. While in a heavy sleep. My bp is low. When I wake. It is high. For a short time. I believe this is natural. It comes down after 2 hours and a 30 min walk. If I sit in a chair it takes about 4 hours. Eventually falling. If we were to take a high chemical BP medication , I believe the heart will become weaker. My life is strength and in cycling , 400 watts is a little excessive. The heart must retain its strength. And it will do that with fluctuating Blood pressure. Provided you come down to normal or low. With nutrients. Advantage is there. I took your advice on vitamin D2. And it works. But like blood pressure getting used to routine is not what it's about. You must change your treatment every 3 days so your heart does not fight back with pressure.
Yeah I never understood why people put down cardio some people try to shame me for wanting to get on the stairmaster and elliptical saying that you’re going to decrease your muscle mass and make yourself weak I love doing cardio I feel great afterwards I would think it off some benefits I don’t understand why there’s so much for cardio
Thanks Dr Story ..... Far to many doctors just try and push medication ... At least give people the information to change their own lives ... Some people just think I'll take a tablet it's easier than exercising and healthy eating
I'm a comfortably "relaxed" 78 year old, and pushing myself into an uncomfortable exercise regime is stretching it...could be this is why I have mildly high BP (duh!). How about I exercise walk every other day instead of daily? That way I can have those lazy off days and also get better. Sounds reasonable to me.
Great tips✅👍, Dr Story. Is it safe to assume that, if I’m to try taking a beet root supplement, that I shouldn’t take my blood pressure medication at the same time because that might bring my BP down too low?
Deep breathing increases mine by 30 points. But then again I've never been able to breath through my mose. I do hours or cardio a day fibromyalgia is worse if I don't constantly move. Sometimes it's Lowe sometimes it's high.. But always high at regular doctors. Often lower at specialists. They try to push the meds. They say your home cuff is inaccurate. You are being stubborn and dangerous.
Hello Adam...we Westerners do not need to invent gunpowder...the topic of breathing dates back centuries...for that the Buddha contributed the Anapanasatti Sutra or attention to breathing.
1) Deep Breathing
2) Exercise: cardio or walk
3) Beet Root juice/dry form
4) White coat syndrome
5) Lying down can lower BP
6) Genetics
7) Gum disease

Brilliant, as always.

I don't know your age but that's pretty awesome BP numbers! My hubby is 67 and that's about spot on what his BP runs! No meds.
Thank you! Dr. Story's advice has been very helpful. My goal is to maintain these numbers without any medication. Almost there.@@kimlockhart976

Dr I have tried all these methods several times and my blood pressure went up
Great tips✅👍, Dr Story.

I'm wondering the same thing, I drink garlic water, hibiscus tea and still take my medication
Take your BP at home. Then you will see if it is going too low. If it is cut back a little.
My blood pressure going up when I’m lying down …? Wondering why ?
I have try exercises and try to eat fruit vegetables my blood pressure still goes up what will I do

No, but it’s better than Pepsi.
What's beat ridges?
Dr Story were you aware of molecular iodine by IoTech International that prevents gum disease?

White coat syndrome is common. You wait for 2 hours and all you get are more medicines. Next visit gets you nervous.
