    Easy way to get the Everburn blade is to get Shadowheart to prepare "Command" and get him to drop it. That way you don't need to kill the commander and it is fairly reliable at 55%. You can also use the command trick to get Svartleby's in Wakeen's Rest

    This is my 5th run, and first time forging the Sussur Greatsword. In my previous runs, I forged the dagger and gave it to one of my spell casters. This time, I've built a mage slayer 8 battlemaster / 4 war cleric. Got the boots and amulet with Misty Step. With all of the maneuvers and feats I chose- alarmed, Heavy armor master, heavy weapon master and savage attacker (almost took mage slayer, hesitated with lucky, but I think I chose the best option), my silver dragonborn's a menace with that weapon. I'm keeping the Sussur Greatsword until the end, surprised it is as good as it is. Also in this run- commanded Zhalk to drop the Everburn, the only other weapon my character's wielded.

The jump ring was on for a while, but with with 2 misty steps and flight pots, I've got an incredibly mobile character that can dish out massive melee damage, as well as with his bow and arrows.

    I really like Jorgoral's GS. Minor correction, you get it in act 1 not 2. From the Grymforge. And it is amazing for a paladin when dealing with large groups of enemies cause you can easily hit so many at once and just spam smite at all those targets. Add some damage riders and those hit every target you hit as well and you'll be doing massive damage in act one already.

    I also want to mention that if you have the periapt of wound closure with the sword of chaos, you can get up to 60 hit points in one turn if you action surge, hasten, and use bonus weapon attack with great weapon mastery

      Sword of chaos goes crazy on a tiger heart barb or close quarters swords bard, can heal 18 off a single cleave attack, with bonus action from great weapon master heals 42 without any haste, 78 with an action surge, even more if hasted! I have it on a barb with the bonespike garb so Karlach attracts all their attention to her, and then she just instantly heals up while slaughtering them. Good video, agree with pretty much every pick except the Everburn Blade. Not having the +1 weapon enchantment really holds it back. Dealing slightly less damage on average is a great trade-off in exchange for hitting your target more consistently. The Everburn Blade is only really useful in the very early game, where it slaps, but at the same time you either miss or you massively overkill the low HP enemies at this stage of the game. Svartlebee's Woundseeker is by far the best act 1 greatsword other than the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane, but I've stopped cheesing that one in my playthroughs as it completely trivializes the game when you get it early

    • @JasonDunna
      @JasonDunna  3 місяці тому +4

      Yeah the silver sword of the Astral Plane really does trivialize the game, even if you don’t have a gith.

    Svartlebee's Woundseeker is better, not worse than the Everburn Blade. Both weapons can be obtained early in Act 1. But the Woundseeker is a +1 blade; it has the attack bonus vs wounded enemies; and it can be made to burn just as the Everburn Blade. The Everburn Blade however is non-dipable, and thus limited to only one coating.
    So I count three straight points in which the Woundseeker is better. The only relatively minor things that the Everburn Blade has gotten going for it is that you can get it slightly earlier, and it is more convenient provided you never want to apply an effect other than burning.
    I'd conclude that the Everburn Blade is newbie-friendly. For more advanced players, there are way better options.

    Semi off topic, but I find that BG3 really did us dirty with bludgeoning weapons. Like, the two handed weapon type answer to these ones, Mauls, has a much lighter selection, with far less going for it, in terms of passives, buffs, and general overpoweredness. :( Oh well. Playing with a Greatsword means that you are most likely using Great Weapon Master feat, which greatly reduces your hit chance. And using a sword with +1 offsets that by a bit. While it's still dealing the same minimum damage and just 3 less max damage. BUT they can also be dipped in fire, which makes them BETTER in every way than the Everburn Sword... they just need to use a bonus action for the dipping.

    If no Ranger in the party, receuit a hireling. The perk a Lv5 Beast Master get is Honey Paws on their bear which does not trigger a saving throw on Disarm, just has to land the hit (hence 80% on Advantage). Give the bear Bless. Throw an Invisible position at it. You can even park a Divinition Wizard close enough to trigger their Portent Die but keep it from triggering the cut scene to change that 80% on Advantage to 100% chance so long as your die is 17 or higher.

    Genuine question. How are you able to upload so much? I see that your videos are pretty simple in format, so they probably don't take long to edit after planning the video and recording, but you have to be spending a ton of time on this each day

      Yeah I do spend a lot of time planning these! It usually takes 3-7 days to make a video through the research, testing, reviewing etc before I make notes to loosely script certain talking points
      I have my whole creative flow wrote down so I can cross off goals. I’m a personal trainer too so it’s something that helps keep me accountable to make good videos!

    Maybe I don't understand something correctly, but isn't the Everburn Blade inferior to all the others because it isn't even +1? Is the Fire dmg bonus more valuable than a regular 2d6+4 instead of 2d6+3?

      If you took GWM feat at lvl 4 then yes, +1 is better. If you took asi in strength then 1d4 is better. But if we're talking best greatsword set up up to act 3, Jorgoral's + GWM is King. That aoe cone is big enough to hit 5 enemies for full weapon damage + any other damage riders.

      I’m working on that one right now, I usually write it all out first before filming the video and it should be out this week!

    Balduran's Giantslayer is one of the undisputed strongest weapons in the game.
    Shame I don't use it because visually it looks like hot garbage.

    Everburn is overrated it's not even a +1. Early game chance to hit more important than raw damage. Svartlebee's much better early game though most people will need to look up how to get it . . .

      @JasonDunna  3 місяці тому +1

      Yeah that’s a good point. For the first sword you can find an extra 1d4 fire damage permanently is nice. It definitely has some fans because people request me to make builds for it all the time but it’s easily outclassed by other act 1 swords
