Hey Ceph! Your min-maxed build guides have really been helping my Honour Mode progress, my current run is the furthest I've ever gotten, and it's been almost effortless. You've become my favorite BG3 content creator, keep it up!
@@joegallagher23 Currently Level 5 lmfao, i've completed the Act 1 overworld and am just getting into the Underdark (the wretched owlbear fight ended so many runs previously). I'm just using the Simple/Monoclass Build Guides for each character from this channel. My Tav is a monoclass Storm Sorc, and I usually run with Astarion (monoclass Thief rogue), Shart (monoclass Tempest Cleric), and Karlach (Monoclass Tiger Heart Barb). Gale is monoclass Div Wiz, Wyll is monoclass Goolock, Lae'zel is monoclass Battle Master Fighter. all insanely strong. haven't had to flee combat a single time
@@paragonca9736 sticking with mono class, you will run into issues with Astarion as monoclass rogue falls off in later acts. Gale is insanely strong being 1 lvl Drac ancestry sorc (white for free AoA) with the rest being Abjuration wizard. Arcane ward makes him almost untouchable.

I think I struggle most with figuring out gloves to use since there’s so many good ones, would be nice to see a tierlist for such a highly competitive category next. Also rings can be more challenging to decide on with the two slots available and trying to synergize with the rest of the build, probably my second most difficult slot to decide on so a tierlist on them would be great too. Helmets come close to gloves in terms of importance but a little easier to manage since theres some that are just so amazing there’s no choice to make (helm of arcane acuity for one). Boots are kinda meh overall, the reverberation boots are super good but the rest of the good ones tend to be either mobility or stability focused. Useful but not fun like gloves or helms. Cloaks don’t have enough options to make them super compelling, a few are incredible but easy to see them amidst the rest of the mediocre ones. Amulets take a while to become competitive and impactful but by act 3 there’s some meaningful choices to make. A lot end up being free spell or ability casts and then swapping out.
I need there to be so many more capes/cloaks-even repeats of ones with basic, but broadly applicable abilities (like the cloak that gives +1 to AC and saves). It might be blasphemous to Edna Mode, but: “More Capes!”
The main problem with the helldusk armor without the exploit is that it is then normally acquired near the end of act 3 and as such does not see much use.
As someone who got this game a few months ago, I waited until I had my first win to look online for guides and tier lists. I'm glad I'm late to the party, cause all your recent videos have been so helpful for my many other runs including honour mode. So thanks for all the time and effort you put into your videos, the nuance you have for every item of each tier list is truly appreciated.
obviously +2 splint armor needs to be in S tier cause whenever you build wyll or anyone else as a paladin/warlock you naturally want them to look like a samurai
Still loving the Minthara half Cleric/half Paladin build... she is out-fighting the monk build and the party synergy with abjuration reaction farming build is insane. More synergistic builds please if you able, even if they are weaker.
Had her as a Paladin/Storm Sorcerer her smites hit hard. She was what got me through the fight with Rapheal. Destroying the pillars is always a good start to that fight. Less souls he can draw the less spells he can cast.
If they put the graceful cloth to look as the infernal robe, i would use it all the time. The graceful cloth is sooo bad looking. And even died it still is really ugly.
@@thepurge7964there’s an excellent unofficial transmog mod already, and with how simply it integrates it, I think it’ll be one of the earliest to be added in patch 7 tbh. I’m really excited for it, it’s made me realise how gorgeous the generic +2s are
Great guide! This has really helped me optimize my character itemization. If you are looking for an idea for other videos, a guide on item synergies to build around would be useful. For example, Luminous Armor + Adamantine Shield. I know that could get complicated, but just being made aware of the S and A tier synergies would help many of us.
I would recommend Ketheric shield for spellcasters. Initiative shield from moonrise towers merchant and the adamantine shield is always good, unless you have insane initiative or crit immunity from another item.
I like the appropriately named Shield of Shielding, sometimes even over Viconia's. For some fights it's worth the 1 AC loss for the very clutch Shield spell to mitigate magic missile damage when your party makeup does not have many/any counter-spellers.
On my last run I picked for the first time Durge, as a Sorcerer. I went full arcane charges build. The additional damage made all my spells, that often leave targets with 3 or 4 health, kill the target. Later when I unlocked the Tadpole powers and earned the talent that kills your target after hitting a certain hp made my Durge deal massive amounts of damage, more than a regular Sorcerer.
One of the things I didn’t really appreciate until I began super prioritizing imitative is how having all (or a majority) of your characters have high initiative is exponentially more powerful than having a mixture of high and medium imitative characters.
After playing with the d20 mod I've found the game to be so much more enjoyable as a base dex paladin. Now i can wear heavy armor without taking alert and not worrying about going dead last evey combat.
The Damaged/Broken Padded Armor is great solely because of how good it looks! It's hiding on a shelf in the basement of the Risen Road Toll House in Act I.
I use potent robe on my sorcerer with the either multi class into Warlock or the Initiate Warlock feat. Really ups your damage and allows you to save your bigger slots for dmg and spend your smaller slots for more sorcery points.
The flawed helldusk is way better than armour of devotion, because Damon only needs 1 armour piece to make it while the other you have to pay 2000 gold or some shit and I want my gold for chapter 3
Clothing if you are a multiclass that involves something like a Cleric clothing armor because just as good as wearing something like medium armor. But monk that means not using a shield but if you have something like 20 wisdom that really doesn't matter. Cause you can mix that with high dexterity if you are a monk that then later multiclass into cleric can have it even higher as you usually have high dexterity. Mage armor does not work for Draconic sorcerers as it cancels out the AC bonus from the class. Same can be said if you are a monk that multiclass into barbarian you do not get the bonus from both constitution and wisdom you get whichever one is highest. Things to consider.
Light armors are best when used with classes that have high dexterity. As they operate using your dexterity modifier without a limit on the bonus not like medium armor which is up to +2. +3 with the medium armor master feat which also makes medium armor not have disadvantage on stealth checks. But that perk breaks the bonus that a few armors give that also apply the full dexterity bonus to AC.
I swear, every time I get into act 3 and see all the cool looking heavy armors I’m shucks with the dilemma of splint armor feeling too good to give up 😅
special shout out to Leather Armor +2: if have a level 11 rogue it is the last required piece in order to guarantee a 30 roll on pickpocketing (ie. you cannot fail). On honor mode this can be invaluable.
+2 hide probably appears earlier depending on how much the merchant likes you. So maybe they were liked by the first merchant you meet, which likes you if you're a druid
sorry to be that guy but for the Chain mail +1 you can put it on Lae'zel cause she has Heavy proficiency and swap her Half-plate to another character, so you don't even need to spec into heavy armor, you can just have 17 AC on two of your characters right from the Act 1 Groove. ^.^
Enraging Heart Garb is also good for Barbarians choosing to remain unarmored to take advantage of Unarmoured Defense. This makes it doubly beneficial to a Barbarian by giving them more HP and +1 to AC as well.
Spidersilk Armor is Minthara's default set. Irony though is that she doesn't have enough dexterity to really make use of it. But Drow really don't have medium and heavy armors in game, though some mods are made for that.
dual wield dex bard wears graceful cloth whole game so far and the helm that gives arcane acuity for any weapon attack so if i need a spell or top end scroll its a guaranteed hit. Its the perfect character dual crossbow bard with deception charisma and any persuasion check with bardic inspiration if need reroll.
My Asmodeus Tiefling Draconic sorcerer of blue dragon heritage with a level dip into tempest cleric used the wavemother's robes because she looked great in it. I dyed it with dark amethyst dye so it kind of complimented her medium grey skin tone. But being somewhat forgetful never used the create water spell associated with it. I just finished that playthrough my first last night. Even though I have more than 1000 hours in the game. Plagued by the curse of restarting character's part way through. What class and multiclass would be great for an evil playthrough I do not know. Conflicted if I will even do one.
sup Cephalopocalypse, I've watched this video last night to fall asleep to, and I just came back with an idea. First of all, after watching it I kinda got overfilled with dread because in my current playthru i'm playing a land druid with a pretty spellcaster heavy party (abjuration wizard + sorcerer/cleric) so I probably won't wear the robe of the weave on the druid, nor do I think I could make great use of one of the medium armors with uncapped dexterity modifier because I only got 14 of that so it wouldn't be too big of a deal compared to other medium armors. BUT, the interesting question/idea I have for you (and i kinda value your opinion on this cuz you're my go to build video lookup lol) is; I was thinking of taking my level 12 feat an ASI in 2 dex so I can kiiiiiinda make the armour of agility more worth it? but you did mention somewhere either in this video or when making the tier lists themselves that advantage on constitution checks is kind of redundant when you have AC that doesn't allow you to get hit. What if I were to respec into 16 dex 14 con at level 1 and then take the level 12 feat as 18 dex? Wouldn't that kind of be great for any other build out there as 2 dex gives you 1 extra AC all the time? (and in my experience, I still fail concentration checks on all my 16 con spellcasters all the time anyway lol)
Do a party build for explorer difficulty!! I’m trying to get my gf into it and she’s receptive so far, I just wanna make sure she has the best first impression and a lot of fun!!
I believe - by your criteria - that for a strength-based Paladin, which is the default Paladin, the +1 chain mail is best in slot until the adamantine plate comes along. This is a narrow case but not a fringe case: using elixirs, or making a dexterity paladin, are the less usual choices here I'd think.
Minthara in my currently on hold playthrough (thank you, Larian, for the game crashing on start on macs) is a dex paladin with adamantine plate. Works great for me. I don't even always remember to give her a strength elixir unless my entire party is getting encumbered 😂
I cant emphasize the effect of the reapers embrace on one particularly nasty encounter, namely bhaalist ambush enroute to Orins temple. There is annoying enemy who kept sweeping my lead character into abyss, until i have learned to lead with laezel in reapers embrace😂😂😂
Great lot of videos! Would you consider doing cloaks as well? I cannot for the life of me find more than 4 S tier cloaks and all the rest are at best ok or niche, and at worse a debuff
problem with the game as with many other ARPG is that they were stingy with good heavy armour. To little top AC bases with no +3 bonus and the effects kinda suck a lot compared to medium and robes.

Haven’t tested it myself but it seems like that’s the intended use of the armor on a shifting druid. Saves you having to use a barkskin spell or elixir
The Barkskin you get from that armor doesn't work in Wildshape. For whatever reason the Defender Flail you can buy from the Githyanki Creche even earlier does work in Wildshape it gives a +1 to ac. The owlbear has 15 ac so it'll bring the owlbear up to an even 16.
