- Not only is Ecola State park beautiful but even the drive into this unique place is spectacular. The road is narrow so big vehicles have to be careful when there is approaching traffic.
Two beaches, the first is a view point and the second is where the surfers are.

I can't believe I always forget how beautiful Oregon can be.
In 1960 and again in 1964 my family went to Cannon Beach and camped for a month. My dad would come down from Seattle on the weekends with my older brothers and there wives and children.. My brothers are all deceased now and so are there wives.. I seldom see there children as they have children of there own now.. Memories still linger on

I was inspired to write this poem as I watched this video:
What is it that draws me to a canopy of green
Of trees so tall, shadows and sunlight play unseen
Touching the edge of the wooded land,...
Water of blue meet a beach of rock and sand
Waves wash among huge boulders so majestic
Like small islands, serene, surreal, fantastic
Climbing up paths, looking over, Heaven meets Earth
Tall green meets blue sky and water; beauty gives birth.

Oregon is my favourite state, i have been here twice on holiday with the kids - would absolutely love to live there. Must have missed this beach - maybe next year!

Excellent video! I live in Seaside, a few minutes to the north, and that's one of my favorite places. I go there as often as possible.
I am looking for a place to visit on the ocean in Oregon and stay for a few days ....I'm looking for a nice and pretty beach , clean , and restaurants and hotel ..........I've never been to Oregon , first time ......I am looking forward to this , my dream is to see all 50 states .....20 more states to go .........I'm more familiar with Midwest and East Coast .....I rarely ever travel to the West !!! Thanks !!!!!
If you fly in to Oregon, land in big city Portland. The closest point on the coast would be Seaside and Cannon Beach, Oregon, both located about 100 miles away. It's a 2 hours scenic drive along a good mountain pass state highway. Both are tourist towns and offer full amenities. Ecola State park right outside Cannon Beach is a must visit, as you tell from this video. If you only have a few days, I would then recommend traveling north on the coastal highway to the mouth of the mighty Columbia river and the beautiful and historic city of Astoria. That's about 25 miles north of Seaside. You could then travel another route back to Portland which follows the banks of the Columbia River. (Highway 30).
That way the whole trip from Portland and back would be one big circle and you can see more in less time.
For the best weather come in mid June to late Sept. Come on out, everybody is welcome!

I'm from Cali and I drove to Oregon hit the coastal route, and I saw their beaches, personally they scared the shit out of me, with that dark water, big huge black scary rocks. I saw no one on their beaches, gloomy weather, no good.
+Kb Kb Your description sounds like your visit was in winter. The best time to visit is Jun 15 - Oct 15.
During that time you will see weather like in this video. It can be cool in summer but weather on the coast
is usually 55F to 75F during the day. Very little rain in summer months.
