Not if one lives on the Oregon Coast! They grace us with their presence in Gearhart OR, passing through our backyard and sometimes hanging out to mow our lawn 🤗
We are supposed to have snow flurries this weekend. They Can feel the wind shift and cooler temperatures. Maybe the feel a sense of urgency to get to a dryer, protected place
It looks like several were frolicking as they first went out onto the beach (a couple of bucks crow-hopping starting at 1:42). Obviously something they enjoy doing, though perhaps with the houses there they cut it a little close getting off the beach when the tide swept through. Humans are definitely not the only animals to experience joy. What a cool experience!
I spent a long time sailing on a very basic yacht round the world and I think our instincts come back if we remove electricity and other modern stimuli from our lives. If all you have is a desert and sandstone you will be a champion at pyramids I suspect.
@@George.Andrews. Heh, I also believe what you've pointed out to be correct, up to a point. I mean, a surfer on a surfboard, zooming down the front of a huge wave, (which is what I currently see in my suggestions) has a direct connection with the nature of that wave, and Shirley various instincts come into play. But like your sailing skills and knowledge of the weather and water, it brings you personally closer to nature than the same location would likely do for Miss Higglestone at the office.
Elk are bulls and cows by gender, and a herd like this always has a lead cow calling the shots. She’s the matriarch of the herd, and where she goes the rest follow...
This Cannon Beach herd on the Oregon coast is an anomaly. Elk are normally a reclusive animal, preferring wild and rugged terrain where humans won’t bother them. They’re smart, tough animals to hunt. But I’m an old man, and this herd around Cannon Beach has been there for as long as I can remember. They have habitat they like that is close to the beach and they’ve learned to cohabitate with and tolerate the local human population. And for whatever reason, they love to get out and romp on the beach, often in the surf. Years ago I was there and went down early one morning for a walk on the beach. This herd came romping along in the surf, passed within yards of me and paid me no mind whatsoever. One of my favorite memories; I think of it often. For tourists that are lucky enough to see them, I’m sure it’s an experience they will never forget...
@@larrybeavens7580 That must have been something awesome walking on the beach when the elk came by, I can visualize that happening in my head. Thanks for the image.
@@waterbug85 It was a magical moment, for sure. It was very early; I was the only one on the beach that I could see. I saw them coming from quite a ways off, so I just stood perfectly still and watched in awe as they thundered by me. They were in the surf, and I was close enough that they splashed water on me as they went by. There are some things in life you never forget, and for me that moment is near the top of the list.
being in wyoming elk do weird things that just tip top of my list of weird elk. being by the ocean tho they know where why what . and leave us 2 leggers scratchin our brain buckets =} i wish i was in Brookings right now...

😡They were lost & confused! The elder Elk was showing the young Elks the lay of the land. The last time they came through their territory, the structures built by humans weren’t there!😡
This is actually not true, these Elk are a resident herd that migrates through this area all the time and these hotels are by no means new, they are not lost they are exactly where they mean to be. The elk are respected and valued in these communities as a resource and species to respect
Les Wapiti sont natifs de la région et donc ils se promènent partout! On vit juste au Nord de Cannon Beach sur la Côte et ils viennent nous rendre visite en traversant dans notre cour arrière et parfois même tonde notre notre gazon 🤗
Nah...They're just roaming. We live just North of Cannon Beach and we see them all over the place, even in our backyard mowing our lawn for free, he he! It's all in their instinctive natural ways...
Just like a surfer would do paddle out between sets ! See how they watched and waited for the right time? Elkgroms !
They instinctively knew to cross NOW...I've been to Cannon Beach, truly a magical place, just beautiful !
God created everything to be insink with each other
How beautiful seeing the herd of Elk! Now that’s a once in a lifetime event!

You see them often out that way. What is unique is th beach and sea
Wow! I think I heard the first one say "Its now or never!"
Did you see them bucking? And the little one turning and ran toward it for a sec... just like kids do. Lol. They like the beach.
Talk about timing! I spent Summers on the Oregon Coast and know that area; pretty exciting to see the Elk herds.
One almost turned back. So glad they all made it. Phew, I can breath now 😍
That was beautiful but scary to see...so happy they made it safe 🙏🏽❤️ thanks for sharing ❤️☺️
Thanks for sharing this. And for sharing that they all made it safely out of there. I never knew they went on the beach.
That one pausing had me thinking he may turn back. The scamper to catch up was well timed...
We lived in warrenton Oregon and saw lots of elk. You can see elk everyday in this area.
You can see that rip tide take over the beach after the herd passed! We rode our horses at OR beaches, it was a dream come true.
You could see them leaping and frolicking in the surf. They were having a blast! They probably waited all year for this King Tide.
Nice video...the hotel must see them yearly tho. I don't think it was there first time. Animals learn from previous experiences just like we do
It becomes instinctual over hundreds of years, beware to those who build in their path!!!

That’s one pissed off looking ocean!!
This is incredible footage!! Excellent job. I'm saving this one.

Animals have all their proper instincts going on, which, I believe, we have lost a lot of. We now rely on "info" so much.

@@wordreet lots of good stuff on your channel. You can't beat Brian Blessed swearing.
Wow that baby elk made it also.
looked like it was a Doe ( or female) that was leading them, even yelled " lets go" when she took off.

Glad they made it safely
They are thinking 🤔 what to do NEXT
I would bet that the tide was at it`s lowest possible point. Amazing how they know.
phew, i was so nervous that hydroflask was gonna get swept away!
It’s my favorite Yeti! I would have been devastated! 🤣🤣🤣

Nice family of elk.
Those elk see humans all the time and thay are not spooked by people with cell phones thay do whatever thay want

Just because the weather is bad, thy still put in the daily run on the beach.
That was very relaxing to watch
Front row seat for when a tsunami hits.
Sad they were so scared.. We were having King Tides.. They were getting cut off from the land and confused between the high tide and the people
they wernt scared at all they were waiting for the lead cow to go she knows what shes doing this isnt there first rodeo
Is this at Schooners Cove? We lived in Gearhart, just north of CB for a while. Love king tide season and miss having the Elk in our yard.
Yes! Schooner's Cove.

Elk can swim, but they don’t like moving water.
TONIGHT's MENU: Fresh, really fresh ELK steaks.
I could smell the salty air
sneaker wave too
“Locals” being......... locals ❤️🙂
A few inches of surf is not dangerous to these Elk they have lived their entire life on that area.
Is this normal to have the waves slammed on your back door?
amazing!
Amazing how the animals in nature everything that God created is in sync with each other
Cool!!
elk is some good eats
Nice footage you have,after salt?
Anyone in Cannon Beach...
Question; why the iratic syrf?
That seems odd to this Oregonian...
King tide 🌊💦🌊
Is it possible to add the intervention of elk in a HEC-RAS 6.0 hydraulic simulation?
What is the n value for elk? :-)

Which hotel was this filmed at...
Schooner’s Inn.
does anyone know which hotel is it
Schooner's Inn at Cannon Beach
what hotel is this?
:28 "Just... go!"
The ree ree's be like " this is global warming! That tide isn't normal!"
Maybe sensing an event. But that’s weird
The level of human encroachment, and the consequence ... is sad. A bit of luck, and a bit of instinct were involved I suspect.
Schooner's Inn
?can would an animal drink salty sea water?
Maybe they saw coyotes or bear or cougar
I was Cannon Beach about 5 years ago and there were no elk
The elk roam around the county. If you spent a lot of time there, you would eventually see them.
It’s a bad omen - they are running away from something
Maybe just making their usual migration after grazing out their previous area? 𐂂

Why the hell have these elks shaved butts?
These Animals are no Elks.
They are Roosevelt Elk.
Wrong timing and they would be serving elk meat in the hotel for dinner.

A whole year's supply.
To bad it's not ELK SEASON..
