There’s a few vids on UA-cam with lofty talking about survival. He seems like a proper character.

I got a copy of that book the SAS survival guide when I was 14 in the 80s the best book I ever bought in my life. Always make sure to have a copy for the kids to look up if they have to, and I encourage them to memorize it and try all the traps, within reason

Handy little book, i can see you probably got a few of your woodland cookout ideas from there! 'Threads', that was one scary film!! I saw it when it first came out in 1984, we had to watch it, then the subject matter was discussed in the school assembly the next morning! Scary stuff when you were only 15.

Yeah Threads played on my mind for years after I saw it in 1984. Made me start thinking about survival techniques.

Thanks, Rob! I downloaded a digital version so I can use my text to speech to read to me because of my dyslexia. So far I see a ton of good information in it.

    The Bible of 'vival!
I still have my original 10x12 copy, bulky and heavy but can be used as an a-frame shelter in a pinch.😂

@robtherover It's the one use that 99% of survivalists don't know that they don't know haha!
And as the old wisdom goes,
"There are known factors, these are the things we know that we know.
Unknown factors can also get you hurt, these are the things that we don't know.
And furthermore there is the division of known knowns, unknown knowns, known unknowns, unknown knowns and of course unknown unknowns,
Any or all of which can get you hurt or killed.
So when somebdy sagely tells you "Knowing is half the battle..."
Rinse their heads out with that pearler :-D 🤘
Bonus points for deadpan Corporal/Sergeant major delivery 😂

If you struggle getting into anything, be it excercise or reading, get into the habit of doing it whilst you wait for the kettle to boil.
10 p.u. 10 squats, stretches etc, you'll soon be feeling up to more actual exercise, with a book just pick a page and read it until the kettles boiled.
Finish the page but then put it down and brew on,
That way if you're on a 'good' bit it stays in your mind and makes you keen to continue.
      🤘🙂
