One way that helps me when I get into the “but I might need it” mindset is to ask “what DID I need this for?” And then decide if I still wanna do that thing or not and if not, I toss it in the box of stuff that no longer belongs in my room
I have one ribbon from when I learned to count to 100 in elementary school 25 years ago. Never getting rid of it because I’m not skilled enough to get one for anything else. 😅
There are companies online where you can mail them books/documents and they will scan the entire thing into a PDF for you and recycle the paper!!! You should do that with your journals
i would think about the journals, if they spark joy. I have such journals, too. For me PDFs couldn't do the same. But it's a good idea for when you write your examn by hand.

I would personally force myself to use them til the end so I won't be tempted to buy more 😂. If you can and have half empty bottles, you could add one moisturizer to another and get rid of one bottle!
I stop purchasing stuffs for a sole “Aesthetic” purpose, swap it for things that actually has “function” and turns out it somehow pleasing and calmy-aesthetical , less messy and cuts so much time to tidy up, And plants are absolute swap for Aesthetically functional option 🌵🌱 And uh your room is absolute sunlight crush 🌻☀️
But if it makes you smile or bring joyous memories I think it is totally good to have unfunctional things! One of my favorite possessions is a pair of blue turtle socks I got from etsy. They are incredibly function less (for a human) and yet they are awesome. I try to envision how much space I want to use for something before looking at the category and then don't exceed the 'ideal space quantity' if I have difficulty paring down. Or have an accent area were decorative stuff is allowed but don't spill outside if it. Turtle socks and little happy trinkets are the little glitter spots of happiness among what could just be functional.
It's always so wholesome when I watch these videos and find older women in the comments leaving really thoughtful messages about the video ❤️ I read one on this video and it was super wholesome,I love watching people support eachother regardless of things like age or even gender/religion/ethnicity on UA-cam

I've been hanging onto my crocheting needles and yarn that I haven't touched in a few years wondering if I'd ever get into it and you described the exact thing I was wondering!!! That's it's okay to move on from a hobby!!! Time to go throw those things in a donate bag. 🤣🤣

Like I threw away a botched project (we were practicing making 3D letters out of cardboard for a promotional poster we had to do) and my mom literally fished it out of the recycling bin and put it on the shelf, my brother did the same after the project was done and I had my pictures (meaning I didn't need the actual letters anymore) and it's up in his room amongst a wall of shitty preschool drawings and magazine pictures that he didn't even cut out himself... and then they're always yelling about us having too much stuff despite them never actually anything away (or even letting others throw stuff away) like I need to move out soon before I go mad
It looks great Beatrice! I’m constantly going through my stuff. I live in a really small house with little storage so I do keep things edited down. It’s super hard with all my hobbies to keep it clean and organized, but I stay on it. I’m a lot more sentimental about things than you are, but I sincerely love the things I’ve held on to. I’m doing a big cleanup this summer in my kitchen and that’s going to be INTENSE but I’m super excited to do it finally

So a regular clean and purge becomes necessary. I find so much value in making physical manifestations of my creative output. I like my videos, but I love when I can physically hold or share something. That may be a generational thing, too. I'm definitely old enough to be your mother, and almost old enough to be your granny. lol I am studying surface pattern design, and while I do like it, there's nothing like hanging up a hoop I just stitched or carrying a bag I just made on my sewing machine. Or watering a plant I've nurtured along from a tiny seedling.

I did this in December, after reading Marie Kondo's book and YES it feels so. damn. good. It took me 5 hours to end and put everything back together, and I took out so many clothes, bags of trash and i could breath lightly the second i finished it And now watching your video gave me the will to do it again - i was already planned, but your video inspired me to r e a l l y do it I'm the kind of person that keeps every little thing and makes a emotional reason to do it. But when I declutter my closet and my room for the very first time, doing it for real, I realized that I really didn't need 60% of that. And after it I feel I can give things away without feeling guilty or sad. thanks to Marie Kondo I could see things in a different and non selfish way

I am starting to get interested in minimalism recently and I just decluttered my room, yet I moved 2 times these past 2 years and realized that what I have right now are actually are the things I really need/want to hold on. I like how you said that it's ok to declutter over and over again, in life things happen etc. We are getting better at decluttering and choosing things we want to keep. Just like always, such a great video ! I really like your coloring edits and your bubbly personality. Your room looks really cute in the end ! I personally try to declutter every 6 months, i know it's often, but doing it more often helps you getting used to not keeping things. I now declutter so fast it's crazy (as I used to have so much junk), I learnt to put sentimental value into fewer items and I won't say I'm minimalistic but I try to be as much as I can :). As you said, it definitely helps you feel lighter and gives you room to invite new good things.
Yesterday i also tidy up my room and i realized i have a lot of books, stuffs, or another that i thought i don't need them again and just throw away them. And i took 3 hours to tidy up my room, it was tiring. But after it done i was so happy. And really it was so satisfying, and i liked it when my books and a lot of stuffs have been organized.

I would never in my life just take pictures of old drawings and stuff and then throw them away no matter what people say haha. I would just put them in a seperate memory box or something. I love looking back on things I did ages ago.

Home girl is SO WISE. When you said graduating I thought college not highschool! I love Marie Kondo's book and most of all, your own method to decluttering your space. I have a giant clear tub of all sentimental things (like photos and awards) that I struggle to even open. I thought my room was okay but watching you take e v e r y t h i n g out is making me itch to do the same. Thanks for your wise words! New subbie
I don’t know how these people are super motivated in organising/decluttering their rooms in like a day or two while me on the other hand will take like a week due to my laziness and procrastination 😂 (Wish I was more like her tho) 👏

I would never in my life just take pictures of old drawings and stuff and then throw them away no matter what people say haha. I would just put them in a seperate memory box or something. I love looking back on things I did ages ago.

Yes!! I love colour but almost all ‘aesthetic’ you tubers rooms and journals etc are all white and tan and it’s nice to see a colourful aesthetic!
