Thanks for the tour up there! We used to ride that area every year starting in 2003 but haven't gone back in 10 years. That sluffed part at the beginning was like that in 2012. Too bad all those roads are getting in rough shape, need some more mining exploration to reopen that area! There was an electric mule, mucker and ore cart in a mine up there, not the one you showed in the video or the top one by the glacier though. It's in the basin to the SE of it, not sure if that road is passable still.
@@kootenaycatYea, it's remarkable how quickly these trails have grown over with alders and the likes. Didn't know about the other mine site, I'll have to try to find the road next trip!
Currently have a T7, looking for something a little lighter and doesn't feel as top heavy for BDRs. Did Colorado BDR and it was a beast to manage in the slick sections and off-camber rocky sections when going slow
What a great video and amazing trail. I can't believe you made it on a 50/50. I hate riding on the large, loose rocks. I love exploring old mines and would like to get up there one of these days to do some riding. Just picked up a 2011 DR650 a few weeks ago. You running the stock suspension?
@@thisdadslife8957 Thanks! I've done a fair bit of work to the suspension. On the front I have a set of forks off of a 2003 yz450 and on the rear I have the stock shock with the race tech gold valve kit and a 8.0 spring.
@@LakemanADV What's your weight + gear? The bike I just picked up has the same Race Tech setup for the rear shock but an 8.3 spring. I weigh 200 w/o gear and suspect 8.3 might be a tad too stiff. Not sure if it's worth changing to the next step lower, though.
Not a whole lot, I did turn up the idle at one point. Ive rejected using JD kit and went a bit on the lean side so it would still work at altitude. I do have problems at high elevation in hot weather some times though.
Spectacular ride, with beyond spectacular views, what a great adventure! Can't wait to check out that area next year..
Got me a 2024 DR650 back in February this year. Thing is a beast. About 85% built the way I want
got mine in March..... I'd say I am about 65%

Yeah the T7 is a beast, the DR is more maneuverable for sure, especially with decent tires.

What is your cowling? Is it the garbage can cut down?
@@rabidwookie606 indeed it is!
Any carburator issue with the altitude ? Mine starts acting up at 500M more or less.

Mars?
The moon.
