It's easy to make fun of the 80's in retrospect, but people who weren't there have no idea how wild it was. Music was alive, fashion was crazy, comedy was uncensored (Eddie Murphy, George Carlin), and if you were offended, too bad. Movies, concerts, clubs, people in the Soviet Union demanding freedom, Saturday Night Live, economic boom, sex, drugs, more sex, more drugs, popped collars, big hair, Michael Jackson, the Reagan era, MTV playing music videos 24/7.
Very sad that Sambora turned out to be a hopelessly moron full of himself and totally drunk all the time. During his permanence in the band, Jon kept him on track, but now...
That 80’s “thin line between cool & cheesy” was crossed by many a man wearing unstructured blazers, pastel t-shirts, & drawstring pants they bought on Blue Light Special.
When this song came out, my stepson was only 4years old. When he came for the summer , I could hear him singing in the shower “Shot to the heart” as loud as he could. I still laugh about that, it was so cute!
Bon Jovi was my first concert 1989. My friend had saved up to buy tickets and a limo for my 14th birthday, she completely surprised me when the limo pulled up and I had no idea where we were going. ....an amazing memory. This brought it all back!
When I get off of the phone or leave people that I care about I Never Say Goodbye (too permanent/final). Bon Jovi gave me the idea & I ran with it. Check out the song please.
I remember being stationed in a small town in Spain and driving around in a friend's Camaro with this blasting away. It was kind of a strange combination but we had big fun!
@Maria Ramirez The squadron I flew in covered the Atlantic. Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. I've been to the Philippines and many other Asian countries routinely on business.
I love how many Bon Jovi videos are shot during concerts. I remember being at so many and watching the video really takes me back along with the great music. Bon Jovi concerts were always a lot of fun. When you left a concert everyone was laughing, smiling, singing and everyone was you friend.
Actually Bon Jovi has been married to his high school sweetheart! I think it’s going on 40 years!! Him and Bono have the longest marriages of the rock stars! He’s a great guy they own some restaurants in New Jersey where people can pay whatever they can afford to eat there! He does a lot for his community!👍🏻🐶🐶💕🙏🏻
I remember back in the 80s being in clubs and when this song was on, the dance floor was packed, and people screaming the chorus because EVERYONE can relate to this!
I know everyone is recommending classics by Bon Jovi right now, and I don't blame them. But I would love to hear what you think of their new song American Reckoning.
Ever notice how You Give Love a Bad Name and Heaven is a Place On Earth (Belinda Carlisle) is the same song? Also, I have always loved Tico's drums in this. Brother wailed on those things as if he was John Bonham. During the bridge of the song it actually sounds like he is going to bust a skin, like he is hitting them with a sledgehammer instead of a drumstick.
That's when entertainers knew how to entertain. They could sing, play instuments, entertain and command an audience of thousands. Not many artists of today can do this. In fact, can't think of one now that can. (80s was the decade of music, partying and no inhibitions. It ROCKED like it never will again.)
History on his pants there from the commodores !!! He wrote all his songs .. Bonjovi is my 1st rock concert back then and he sings same live also. Amazing 🤘🤘🤘
Oh Jesus LOL Reminds me of my "first love". In my attic when I was a teenager haha . I'm an old man now LOL thanks for that memory though . This song always makes me think of those good times
Desmond Childs came to Richie Sambora with the title of a song. First time ever meeting Jon Bon Jovi. Bon Joni already had a song from 84, 2 years prior, called shot through the heart. Desmond mentions the title and then one of them says shot through the heart and your to blame. All three of them at once said you give love a bad name. That's how it started. Jon's intention was to write a song with Desmond to give to Kiss or some other band since he already wrote a song for Kiss. That's the story behind it.
This and Living on a Prayer were written with Desmond Child, who had a string of hits in the late 80s-early 90s with Kiss, Aerosmith and Alice Cooper, and also wrote the Macarena!!! He liked one of my IG videos ... I had to pinch myself!!!
Love your shout out to Keifer Sutherland. Hes been my crush for almost 30yrs now. Since I first watched lost boys. Funny thing is Bon Jovi actually sing a song called Blaze of Glory which is for a film Keifer is in called Young Guns 2 x
I think that this song is so full of dramatic energy. I remember being a 20 something and yelling this one out the car window because the lyrics let you really FEEL!!! You could tell this was when coke gained over pot as the main drug for bands. Different energy but still lots of fun!
Bon Jovi was the band that got me in love with rock and roll. Their 2016 studio album got me through some tough times, so thankful to have found out what a wonderful band :) hope you can react to their latest song “Do What You Can” :)
This is my earliest musical memory. I had to have been only 2 or 3 years old and I remember jumping on my older cousin's bed while we jammed this. I only know I was that old because he told me as much later. LOL. He had picked it up on LP when it had first came out, and it was one of the first times he had listened to it either. I had no idea the name of the song until I was a teenager myself and ran across it on VH1 or something similar and about fell out of my seat! That song had rolled around in my head for 10 years and I thought I would never find out what the song was.
Saw them in concert in '87 in Abilene, Texas. They actually were the opener (look how huge they got) for RATT. They were freaking amazing! I have plenty of pics (front of the stage) from the 35mm camera I snuck into the coliseum. Had film rolls hidden all under my person..Ha! They would bust your azz back in those days for bringing in cameras. The Good Ole Days! Keep on Rockin!! 🤘
I was 20 when the album Slippery When Wet came out & have to say I was completely head over heels in love with Jon Bon Jovi. Broke my heart when he married his high school sweetheart lol. Anyway, all that aside... Bon Jovi cranked out hit after hit & dominated MTV back then. I was glued to the TV hehehe. "Runaway" from the debut is a must check out. Lots of iconic hits ranging from rockers to ballads on the Slippery When Wet & Jersey albums. Bon Jovi just released a new album called 2020. The songs are about the crazy events of this past year. Have a beautiful day Jamel 😊
Thanks again Jamal for yet another awesome reaction video. I saw this not too long after i came home from a long grievous day at work, and it was my birthday to boot, so i was kind of depressed. This lifted my spirits!
Oh boy! Imagine being a teen when this topped the charts and they did dedications on the radio at a certain time/ night- we had a ton of ways to express what we wanted- and this one definitely was used a lot- lot love songs too- Speaking of ,”Bed of Roses” is a great one! ❤️🤍✌️✨
You're like the cool guy at work that actually listens to what you suggest and appreciates the scope of music. Bud, you should suggest the audience listens to music you suggest, we can comment our thoughts. Just an idea. Big ups from Canada bud
I've beem to easily 10 of them. Yes they're a blast. But i had more fun with Cinderella and poison. We ended up mud wrestling at poisons show - Bret said screw this - im coming up to join the mud pit 😁 We had so much fun - but yet we all got so sick from being so drenched in the cold. Here 30 years later i remember that like it was yesterday
Man! The music of my teenage years. Thanks for doing this video. Although I've moved on to other musical genres as a musician, I owe these guys a lot, listening to their music when I started playing in bands in the mid- to late '80s.

How do I make a song suggestion? I am old school and have some songs to share
Would love it see your reaction to Wolfgang Van Halen’s song “The Distance” dedicated to his dad, Eddie Van Halen
Could ya please react to either porcelain heart by opeth or heartless scat by ningen isu PLEASE
How did these videos start?
I’m stuck in those cheesy 80s music and 90s!! Lol 😝!!!!
John Bon Jovi has been married to his high school sweetheart for 31 yrs and together for 40
Yeah he & Althea are like rock n roll goals
Charlie Watts Has been married to his wife for 56 years.

Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were one of the best musical partners out there.
Yea to bad richie keeps leaving the band
I learn guitar because of richie, my biggest idol. By the wall of this guy is probably a musician too.
Facts
@@ScorpionTazzGaming he didn’t leave he was kicked because he was an alcoholic and was arrested and put in prison for 6 months
Very sad that Sambora turned out to be a hopelessly moron full of himself and totally drunk all the time. During his permanence in the band, Jon kept him on track, but now...
Bad Medicine is also a incredible song of theirs. One of my favorites.
Same!
My favorite too ♥️🎶🎸🎤♥️
Big production but basically the song was kinda weak. "New Jersey" album has much better material on it.
Jon Bon Jovi is a great guy. He does a lot to help those in need.
Everybody always emphasizes “A BAD NAME” when singing... even 35 years later.
Maybe because it's emphasized in the song?
I like to say that bit in the style of opera
Living in sin / runaway/ always/ I'd die for you/ never say goodbye/ dead or alive/ born to be my baby / only lonely 😊
Yesss I second Living In Sin. It's my favorite Bon Jovi song and does not get enough recognition!
"WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE" and "IT'S MY LIFE" are awesome!!!
The former much more than the latter
That 80’s “thin line between cool & cheesy” was crossed by many a man wearing unstructured blazers, pastel t-shirts, & drawstring pants they bought on Blue Light Special.
Let's send some of that clothing to Jamal and make him wear it as a sign of apprecation 😂

Not quite, my step daughters were into Bon Jovi, THEIR kids are around 15, 16.
🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
Lol yep 😉
Yup. And some, like me, are great grannies...
@@julietenning7981 They may have started with Frankie Valli then Elvis Presley and next Bon Jovi.

My parents claim this is the first song that both my brother and I would sing as toddlers lol
Say what you will but these guys are masters of their craft
They can bring it and they work their audience live
Some of the best concerts I went to were Bon Jovi!
I have an iTunes playlist called "Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Songs." Yup, this one is on it!
Bon Jovi was my first concert 1989. My friend had saved up to buy tickets and a limo for my 14th birthday, she completely surprised me when the limo pulled up and I had no idea where we were going. ....an amazing memory. This brought it all back!
Bon Jovi in concert, always a great time! (Especially in the 80s)
Bon Jovi and Def Leppard arena rock at their best. Go older off 7800 Fahrenheit in and out of love
Bon Jovi made some of the best hair metal ♥️
made some great rock, that term"hair metal" is extremely outdated, every decades got a hairstyle-50's to today
With such a flamboyant performance, it's easy to forget how much musical genius had to go into a composition like this.
Do “Lay Your Hands On Me”
My favorite Bon Jovi song!
Yes..this☝️
First time I heard this I knew they were going to be big.
This video on MTV in 1986 was 100% my introduction to Bon Jovi. These guys came out swingin'!
Some Cinderella...Don’t Know What You Got Til It’s Gone, Somebody Save Me, Nobody’s Fool, Shelter Me.
When I get off of the phone or leave people that I care about I Never Say Goodbye (too permanent/final). Bon Jovi gave me the idea & I ran with it. Check out the song please.
Slippery when wet is a masterpiece.
Dead or Alive is another great one.
Love, love, love Bon Jovi... sooooo good live... even now, they are still so good!!!!
If you're doing Bon Jovi, _Bed of Roses_ is *seriously* underrated.
Agreed
Waaaaaay underrated
Totally agree!!!
“Bed of Roses” one of their best in my opinion.
Seriously. Under-rated.
I remember being stationed in a small town in Spain and driving around in a friend's Camaro with this blasting away. It was kind of a strange combination but we had big fun!
@Maria Ramirez I was stationed in Rota from 1988-1995. Two amazing tours!
@Maria Ramirez The squadron I flew in covered the Atlantic. Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. I've been to the Philippines and many other Asian countries routinely on business.
Frankly, I don't care what you react to. It's listening to your positivity that makes me watch!
"ITS MY LIFE" WOULD GET YOU JAMAL!
Not just a song about you but a world famous song that 35 years later people are still finding. Now that just goes under DAAMMNN
A sleeper you might like is "Silent Night". They don't do anything from the first two albums, with the exception of "Runaway" when they tour.
I love how many Bon Jovi videos are shot during concerts. I remember being at so many and watching the video really takes me back along with the great music. Bon Jovi concerts were always a lot of fun. When you left a concert everyone was laughing, smiling, singing and everyone was you friend.

"Runaway" is also a great song by Bon Jovi :)
Richie Sambora was married to Heather Locklear and is the father of her beautiful daughter, Ava Sambora.
The flow from the verse to the guitar .... Sambora this guy needs more recognition for his guitar skills ....
A Bed of Roses.. Is a good song they do.
I remember back in the 80s being in clubs and when this song was on, the dance floor was packed, and people screaming the chorus because EVERYONE can relate to this!
"Wanted Dead or Alive" is where it's at, Jamel! The holy grail of Bon Jovi songs.
"Keep the faith"
Their very very very best..
But so underrated.
Well maybe cause they are crap 🤷♂️
Bon Jovi really puts out a bunch of energy in their shows. Now Jon Bon Jovi is doing his best to get people to mask up.
You have to do Dead or Alive.
Their best one IMO
I’ll be there for you. Best Bon Jovi song
Jon always says: Don't bore us, get to the chorus. This song does that pretty quickly.
I know everyone is recommending classics by Bon Jovi right now, and I don't blame them. But I would love to hear what you think of their new song American Reckoning.
You need to react to their 1st song Runaway!! Still 1 of my favorites!!
Such a great song

You need to listen to "the good, the bad, and the ugly", by the danish national symphony orchestra and choir. YOU'LL BE AMAZED.
Love this reaction! The 80's were the years of my life! Had a long mullet like haircut, streaked blonde with a blonde rat tail. Had the best times!!
They had some great songs on their 1st two albums Bon Jovi and 7800o Farenheit, but alot of people focus on slippery when wet, forward.

The irony is, Jon Bon Jovi has been married to the same woman for like 30 years. 😋 I think they were high school sweethearts
I was just going to say that! This song must be about some chick that dogged out one of his buddies 😂
He had a hot and heavy relationship with actress Diane Lane, who cheated on him with his guitarist Richie. So, there's that.
😳😳😳😳😳😳
The broke up briefly and he dated Diane Lane, that disaster inspired this song.
He was giving her the Big Bon Jovi! 😂

Wanted dead or alive,
Blaze of glory,
I'll be there for you.......
You might as well hit the trifecta, and react to Lay Your Hands on Me next!
Another great Anthem Rock song by them. Most of their early videos were tour based. Loved the feel it brings.
Don't know if you attend many concerts but this is definitely a great group to see live.
