As an owner for 10 years I can happily say that an annual service costs nowhere near $5k. In the UK I pay an average of $1500 for a standard service. Cambelt change is circa $1200 every 3 years which is what Ferrari recommend. $5k is just way off and $20k for a Testarossa crazy. More like $5k in the UK.

I worked in a couple of Ferrari shops in the SF Bay Area in the early '90s. I don't know about the regular maintenance costs like Colleen was referring to but our shop manager mentioned once to me that a new clutch in the 512TR was about $20K. If the owner is somewhat mechanically inclined, much of the routine stuff can be done in your own shop. I've done some of the "simple maintenance" on a 308 but when you start pulling motors and the more involved work, call an expert!
I've wondered how much difference there is in the driving between the 308 and the 328; I never had a 328 in our shop so I never had the opportunity to drive one. Being the last in that series, a 328GTB or GTS would be very attractive. It has all the upgrades and as she said, it's still relatively simple. What always drew me to the 308GTB/GTS is how you can get in one and it is like putting on your favorite pair of jeans and just go. Its comfortable and handles very well without a lot of drama... those were a lot of years ago, but they're still very good memories!

Hi, Colleen! Very lovely car and thanks for the presentation with all the little insider observations. I had a 328 GTS in rosso corsa at the beginning of the 90s - I loved it and still think it's one of the prettiest cars I've ever seen.
I've got one more observation about the car in this video: it doesn't have ABS. How do I know? The wheel rims are 'inners', not 'outers' (concave not convex). Mine had inners and the Ferrari dealer told me how to recognise that. Apparently when they fitted ABS to later models, they had to make more room available for the new brakes, so the rims became outers.

I am old enough to remember "250 GTE'"s when they were new. In fact, my father bought one used which we kept for a few years until he had enough of the maintenance/spare parts problems. I cannot recall the term GTE ever being used to describe those cars back then. They were always referred to as a 250 GT 2+2. The designation "GTE" seemed to have been added to those cars years later.

  • @yaroslavbozhdynsky
    @yaroslavbozhdynsky 3 роки тому +2

GTS is a Gran Turismo Scoperta. The 250 GT/E was a common name corresponding to the 508E chassis type. It was the first 508-type chassis with engine moved 200mm forward for bigger cabin space. Official name was 250 GT 2+2.

Again, great video and you are correct. The 328 is a strong number of ferrari and reliable. I drove mij 328GTS from 1987 for 100.000km's. Only issue: the electric bord in front of passenger. Those plates are a fire hazzard as the screws/bolds can shorten the power. Love that car and mis it a lot but I am happy with the F430 spider (80.000km's already). Keep the video's comming

I would’ve gone w/exterior side mirror’s & exhaust cover / diaper delete as the dead giveaways for a Euro 308/328.
Prugna is my absolute favorite color on these, my all time favorite car. (Next to 4293GT, naturally.) LFSC had a Prugna 84 or 85 US 308 when I was a kid in the early 90’s, which left a huge impression. Then my wife and I saw an identical (might’ve been the same exact car for all I know) in the parking lot of an FCA National in Elkhart Lake ~12 years back. So sick.

Looks great in that color, which I had never seen on a 328 before. Besides red I mostly see black (which also looks great) and now I wonder if they ever came in grey? I've seen grey 308s and they look fantastic (one was even featured in a later episode of Magnum PI) and imagine a 328 would as well since they are so similar.

I believe the same legislation that led to the gauze in the intake vent also gave rise to the side strakes on the Testarossa and 348. Fortunately it was no longer a thing by the F355.
Nice color! Prune doesn't sound like it would be appetising, but it actually works well.
According to ferrari.com GTE stands for Gran Turismo Europa. The GTS thing gets more complicated after the 308 series as the 348 and F355 had Coupe GTB models, GTS targa models and Spider models, the ones with the actual folding roof.
The repaint is especially obvious when you did the close-up on the German side-marker, but a good detailer could likely sort that fairly easily.
Please keep hands on wheel and look out the front while talking! We love you and don't want you to have any unfortunate outcomes.

My compliments on another fine video. That said the story about someone getting their arm stuck and getting run over is TOTALLY FALSE and unfounded here say at best. TUV road homologation regulations in Germany and Switzerland have had such laws decades before the 328 or 308 was made. The requirement for openings of a certain size to be meshed off were more a function of road debris and small animal considerations than any human incident requiring the regulation to be enacted. You make very nice videos but you need to be careful about spreading tall tales because it discredits otherwise good facts that would make a video like this a good reference piece.

I would definitely buy a 328. Paint it metallic royal blue, install electric steering and replace the engine/trans with a 300 Mile plus battery setup.
Ferraris will ALWAYS be AWESOME. But if Ferrari refuses to upgrade their older cars to modern day battery cars they will lose out on a HUGE market.

Essentially take the driving experience of a ferrari out of a ferrari. Sad.
