I love that we're getting cards that are just real people now with Cleopatra and Da Vinci. If Wizards digging deeper and deeper into the annuls of history maybe we'll hit the gold mine and see a showdown between Genghis Khan and Krenko, Mob Boss.
Something a friend pointed out when we were talking about Alexios, is that assigning excess trample damage to the player is optional. So if you're playing Alexios, and your opponents all decide they don't want to help you rack up commander damage, they can choose not to deal that trample damage when he's chump blocked
Ezio Auditore de Firenze is an absolute monster. Free running for two black mana and the wealth of cards that turn creatures into assassins *Chef’s kiss*
I've never complained about 'never ending preview season'. This one feels insane to me that MH3 dropped like a week ago. I'm still looking for MH3 commander content and now a whole new set?
I like the 'you wont be able to guess where because youre a liar'. They sometimes say. Its like a short-hand version of what they normally say. Kinda cuts out the middle-man so-to-speak. Catches me off guard sometimes and gives me a good laugh.
Do those populate effects really work for Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad? The tokens exile at the end of combat, so unless you've got the Master, Multiplied in play, they're gone before you can do anything at sorcery speed. That just leaves interaction between instants and Song of the Worldsoul. Feels like too janky a combo to really plan for. There are some sick effects you didn't mention, though: - Desmond Miles is the other Assasin (along with Roshan) with sky-high synergy in this deck, giving you tons of surveil to get the right cards in your graveyard. - On assassins, ETB removal is really great. The new Ruthless Lawbringer from OTJ can just sacrifice one of the other tokens to give you removal that hits any nonland permanent. Pretty great. - Setting aside all the awesome assassin options, Irregular Cohort is a changeling that's a banger for free token generation every combat once you get him exiled with a memory counter. - Ashes of the Fallen is another Maskwood Nexus/Roshan/Conspiracy, only it's the best one because it's just a 2 mana artifact and easy to get out early. Once you do that, there are a ton of disgusting options. Two notable ones are Port Razer (basically an infinite combat machine once he's exiled with a memory counter) and the new Ulamog the Defiler (since it stays in exile, the Ulamog token always comes in with 10 +1/+1 counters and does Annihilator 10 to some poor opponent). I've been brewing and refining this one since it was announced, and I can't wait to give it a go.
The thing I found cool is the way this set actually enables older assassins matter commanders. Used to just be a mashup of whatever assassins and changelings you could find but now it seems all of them have a bunch of New synergistic assassins for their 99
I'm unsure whether or not to put Cleopatra in my skullbriar deck. Skully is usually my only legendary creature. However, there are a couple of ways to sac skully to draw cards.
The best part of universes beyond is seeing all the mtg channels say how they never played or watched whatever the theme is 😂 Just joking but it’s amusing. I’d think a few would be into wider gamer culture like how Pleasant Kenobi plays Warhammer.
The two best commanders in my opinion are - Leonardo da Vinci for casual commander. He offers the ability to create Thopters with amazingly splashy effects like a Thopter with Portal to Phyrexia's effect. The deck needs a Training Grounds for sure & an Encroaching Mycosynth would be fun and allow you to clone your enchantments. Shao Jun for Cedh. She is a three drop creature that allows you to win two ways in an Izzet deck. You can do a Dramatic Reversal combo with two extra artifacts and burn the table out or you can set up a Dockside Extortionist + Cloudstone Curio combo and do the same. Her ability to stay in the command zone until you get the rest of the line in play, then cast her and win.. no haste needed, is really useful.
Mycosynth with DaVinci is one if my favorite synergies, my favorite combo with it is using discarding Karn, the Great Creator then using his -2 to take the original Karn out of exile and into your back to your hand
I ordered my MH3 singles on release day and some of them aren't expected to arrive until AFTER AC comes out. This release schedule is insane, slooooooooow down! That said, fortunately there is only like 9 cards I want from the set. Kassandra, Spear of Leo, Bereau Headmaster, Brotherhood Regalia, Crystal Skull, Shay Cormac, Haythem Kenway and reprints Reconnaissance and Black Market Connections.
As much I would like to put double down in my Ezio deck that I'm building. I realized a lot of the assassin are legendary so I think it's best to make the deck sort of a historical sub theme
It would also be funny for the Triad to have that desert that you can pay 3 to become a 10/10 since triad is a 10 cost, i might be misremembering but I'm pretty sure it fits the colorless identity
For the spirit of Leonidas, if I choose the discard 2 and draw to effect and I only have One card in hand. Do I just discard one and draw two? Or am I unable to activate the effect?
As the resident Slicer player in my group I'm super excited about Alexios. I'll definitely grab a copy of him and have him ready to go as an alternate commander in that deck. I still think Slicer is considerably stronger, but Alexios looks awesome and I can't wait to try him out.
@@NitpickingNerds yeah totally! And I really don't think I need to change my Slicer deck at all to have him be effective in it. I'm sure if I made him the main commander I'd make some changes, but he'll function great with the deck exactly as it is, and that's really cool
@@NitpickingNerds It is worth noting that the Trample isn't as meaningful as it seems at first glance. People can still collude to chump block in many cases. The controller of Alexios (your opponent most of the time) can choose how to assign the excess trample damage when something blocks it. So if two players really wanted to, they could chump Alexios with a 1/1 and ask the controller to assign all of the excess damage to the 1/1 still. And since this commander is Slicer-lite, people will definitely collude to do so (just like they often do with Slicer to divide up the commander damage).
Can someone tell me how Beezy's Karador current list even wins? It's like all the oldschool combos have been ripped out and I see all the new cards but I don't even see any combos it's like the plan is to beat down with staxx creatures or something I don't know?
Rishkar is Not advised while playing on MTG arena. You will go to respond to an interruption and the auto tapper will tap your attacker who was about to swing for game even though you have untapped artifacts which could have provided you the mana causing you to lose the game.
I would love to go against an Alexios Deck if I use my Eriette of the Charmed Apple deck lmao. I would just buff up the Alexios and he would just kill the other players for me.
I kinda want to build an alexios deck but instead of really caring about it just not doing anything with it and forcing my opponents to deal with this big threat while I spend all my time doing other agree stuff
Trample isn’t very good for Alexios - the attacking player can decide to assign all the damage to the blocking creature and not have any trample over. It’s terrible, and menace would be stronger unless you are playing with players that don’t know the rules
I love that we're getting cards that are just real people now with Cleopatra and Da Vinci. If Wizards digging deeper and deeper into the annuls of history maybe we'll hit the gold mine and see a showdown between Genghis Khan and Krenko, Mob Boss.
I knew it was coming and it still got me
We are already going to have Aragorn vs Iron Man, so why not?
If they do an age of empires collab the historial figures will go off
Cleo and Da Vinci aren't real people. They are from Assassin's Creed and they are owned by ubisoft.
@@82LaPlumewell they are real people... just these versions are based off of the assassin's creed counterparts
Randomly hearing Frodo having synergy with an Assassins Creed character cracked me up a little lol

Could u do a short showing all precons, that accidentally had infinite combos in it?
I can’t think of too many off the top of my head, what did you have in mind?
The new energy Precon has one
With lighting runner and the commander
@@NitpickingNerds i thought of the prossh one and the mh3 energy deck, are there more?
I was playing a Precon league and accidentally went infinite

Its more that since MH3 was so hyped, no one really talked about Assassin's Creed too much.

Nice call on the reality chip for the agents! Pretty nifty being able to peek at the top before activating the agent's self mill
