      What are the most common boardwipes in each color? White:Farewell. Blue: Cyclonic Rift. Black: Toxic Deluge. Red: Blasphemous Act. Green: Ezuri's Predation. Cyclonic Rift, Farewell, and Toxic Deluge all get around Heroic Intervention. You are better off playing either a counterspell or Teferi's Protection if you are trying to protect your board from the most common boardwipes.

      @AlwaysGrowing0 counterpoint: farewell and cyc rift and deluge are not the only wipes in the format. People run austere commands, cleansing novas, etc. Also, if you're in mono green or golgari or gruul, you have limited recourse against farewell/rift anyways. Why not run a card that at least works if they play a wipe that isn't one of the best?

    It's shocking to me how many people are down on Heroic Intervention. At two mana the fact that it can protect a key permanent of any type is already very strong, and it's a great combat trick. It gets around some tricky tech that is otherwise hard to counter as well. You're right that it's poor board protection, but the reality is that's just a edge-case upside for a card that's incredibly powerful in other situations. People seem to just lock in on what it's billed as and forget what it actually does, and thus don't play it nearly as aggressively as they should.

    You really have to define exactly what your definition of card draw is.
    Because there is a difference between "Card Draw" "Card Filtering" and
    "Card Advantage" Drawing cards is a relative term meaning as long as
    you are drawing cards it actually is card draw. But having more cards in
    hand than you did after doing something during your turn would be
    considered "Card Advantage". While drawing cards and being card
    neutral is more along the lines of "Card Filtering".

    Here is my random list:
    1. Rhystic Study / Mystic Remora / Smothering Tithe / Espec Sentinel - did you pay extra 3 turns ago, I forgot to trigger this but this is a casual EDH game so you know.
    2. The One Ring - needs to go into every deck because how would you otherwise draw cards.
    3. Orcish Bowmaster - I grow an army and ping ANY target by doing nothing.
    4. Craterhoof / Expropriate - you just lost out of nowhere, good job for not playing blue.
    5. Consecrated Sphinx - I draw cards and nobody else has removal because they are preoccupied with their own gameplan.
    6. Atraxa 2 - let's blink her five times and spend 10 minutes each time choosing the perfect combination of commander staples.
    7. Korvold / Chulane / Sythis - draw cards for doing what you would've done anyways - playing other cards.
    8. Koma - you fools will never kill my commander because nobody plays white at the table and I make giant snakes every turn.

    • @AlwaysGrowing0
      @AlwaysGrowing0 3 дні тому +1

      1 Mystic Remora is fine. No one ever pays 4.
      2. The One Ring I completely agree.
      3 Bowmasters is stupid. You don't have to ping the player drawing the cards.
      4 Craterhoof is not out of nowhere. You have to have a go wide board of several creatures to work. So hoof is fine. Expropriate is stupid, I agree.
      5 Sphinx is fine. People need to kill it with removal.
      6 Atraxa I have not played against so no comment.
      7 I agree with you on all. My favorite decks are Enchantress. The biggest problems Enchantments decks have are finding a way to say I win after out valuing everyone. I run Craterhoof, Moonshaker, Aetherflux in Enchantment decks as a mercy. I can kill you now or the deck will fiddle around for another 30 minutes in a winning position before having a good way to close the game. No one likes sitting in a game they know they have lost with their opponent spending 30 minutes to find a way to kill them.
      My list.
      1 Rhystic and Smothering. So annoying to hear do you pay the 1/2 all game.
      2 Dockside and Culling Ritual
      3 Any of the following as commanders: Tergrid, Yuriko, Zur, Narset
      4 Expropriate and extra turn spells
      5 Torment of Hailfire. Craterhoof requires some setup with a board of creatures, so Craterhoof is fine. Torment is a free I win button, all you need is a ton of mana.

    • @crisgon9552
      @crisgon9552 14 годин тому

      4 & 5, Craterhoof and Sphinx are fine. If you let me have 10+ creatures or if no one has removal that's on the table. Extra turns can be annoying but fine none the less.

    i think that for supreme verdict you have the opposite problem as inkshield. You don't know if they could have countered it so you assume wrath of god is the same but how many times did it save you because it could not be countered. What do you think ?

    I like Talismans in high color green decks. You can cast them off a Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, or Ancient Tomb and they help out a lot vs. blood moon

    Jodah provides randomness in the cascade, whereas Sisay is boring as tutors always get exactly what you need. People get annoyed when you win by combos and other effects, so Jodah is perfect. You have to win by combat damage with is soooo much harder. You have to keep your board safe as you go through phases to attacking. Then you have to have either have zero blockers or trample, and pray that they don't fog, etc. It's so much harder than what you're saying! Any deck should have enough removal and other spells to deal with Jodah all day long!

    I have Fiery Emancipation in my Iroas deck and haven’t been disappointed. It turns Iroas into a one shot kill and helps to power his devotion clause. It’s a token deck as well. I don’t play it outside of that deck however. Just works very well in that deck. Especially when I play Karlach on turn 5

    Today u dont look at power level, you look at people who let u play this stuff they print.
    i just dont like cards that win the game by them self, like "send half deck in exile" or " all cards but the bottom six in exil from every opponent", or farewell, akromas will. Getting killed by 5 2/2 Zombies on turn 4 in a "casual" group is just time waste.
    I feel like casual kitchen table is over and casual commander doesnt exist anymore sadly.

    Thieves Auction was a great wrath option for Zedruu. Scrambleverse as well. But most of the permanents I play in those decks are things that I don't care who controls them, so I'm usually nabbing zedruu as my first pick, and then I'm picking out things from other people's stuff. And Scrambleverse is in a similar boat.
    But that's pretty niche, and outside of that, I agree that they aren't great includes.

    Sorin Markov. Just hate how it is a zero synergy needed, 6 mana, "kill target player". Just doesn't work in Commander where someone can play Swamp, pass for 5 turns and the turn 6 drain someone for 30 out of nowhere. Not fun

    I agree on Rhystic Study. I think it should be banned for the same reason Trade Secrets is banned. They are too strong, but more problematically, they are not designed for a 4 player game, and thereby warp the game around themselves.

    thieves auction goes INSANELY hard for the correct boardstate. Have a massive board? get ready to share. Have a busted enchant? now its mine, ramped a ton of lands? time to play fair.
    also in regards to windfall, my deck is storm and if i have no cards in hand i am DEAD. even if my opponents have more total cards in hand, my strategy rewards casting the cards, even if my opponents are lucky and draw counter magic to gen more mana and to draw more cards. Continuing the onslaught is worth giving my opponents resources because i will have either killed them in the swarm or built such a frightening board they will be forced to boardwipe, and force themselves to spend their turns re-establishing
    thrill of possibility is a card that you need to abuse to make work. The way you really go for it is again in storm or spell copy decks. You pay the discard for the original spell but copies you dont need to and you can go card positive

    I think they are way off with thrill of posibility. It isn't card positive but it is still a great card to dig to the parts of the deck you need to get to. Put it next to Consider. Spend a card and pick if you want the next one in the graveyard or hand then draw. Just thrill is throwing from hand to get 2 new. It just makes decks run smoother.

Adds so much time to any game it's played in, literally impossible to remove, it's like playing whack-a-mole where you go to swing at it and it just pops up somewhere else, and lets be real here, it provides the most miniscule amount of value imaginable

      By itself yeah it isn't much advantage, but as a combo piece for artifact decks it gets insane. Add any of the "artifacts cost 1 less" cards and it becomes a free artifact cast and etb every turn. Add in mystic forge or the upcoming crystal skull spyglass so you can cast it again from top of deck, oh look an infinite draw engine.

    Verdict is an uninteractive by and large board wipe. It's efficient because it's not a counter battle you need to fight. I ran it in Jeskai and it's good. In those colors, it's usually not that awkward to cast. My most hated cards: Dockside Extortionist, Opposition Agent and Sheoldred. They gave underworld dreams and lifegain on a tough to deal with creature. Gross.

  • @xeper9458
    @xeper9458 4 дні тому

    I agree that talismans are better but technically you can use signets immediately so long as you have one mana open, which you do most of the time as Beezy correctly argued. I also agree you shouldn't play them in green unless you are playing an artifacts matter deck or it fits some niche strategy. or unless you need the extra fixing... It's so easy to track day/night 😆 Nobody casts a spell it becomes night. Cast 2 spells at night it becomes day lol. I feel ya Mia Sythis as the commander enchantress decks are lame, but I have an Anikthea deck that's awesome. I don't have Enchantress's Presence or Sterling Grove in it
