Yo, Matt... here's a little bit of trivia for ya! Post Strider 2014, we kicked around a lot of different franchises to revive and one of the leading franchises we were going to tackle next would've been Final Fight! Of course, we were bought by Amazon, so no more Killer Instinct and no more Capcom revivals... :(
Yup, and not even a good Mugen game with unified mechanics. It's almost as poorly balanced as slapping Guilty Gear characters into a SF and KoF centric roster.... Needless to say, the GG character would DOMINATE the rest of the cast.... Ironically, though, the menus and stuff from this game ended up as a popular Mugen screenpack... one of which I was fond of. So at least something good came out of this game.

When I got my Saturn Xmas 96 one of the games was Xmen COTA and eventually I even got a mod chip(absolute wizardry back then) and paid huge amounts for the Ram cart to play Xmen vs Sf... I've had the fun on MAME and enjoyed the CPS2+3 board, the latter totally underrated, But can you possibly point me in the direction of a really good, properly balanced, hopefully with new characters, fun, 'must have' Capcom Marvel fighter? However, allow me to list you a few MUGEN games that are good even if they don't have that crazy Capcom Marvel feel - The Black Heart (Which was remade and improved for Steam) - TMNT x Justice League - Shades of Manhattan - Gensokyo Reloaded - Hyper DBZ - Fighter's History Dynasties - Card Saga Wars - Capcom vs The World - Famicom Fighters

Much like Rival Schools 2, altough I would add some Arcade Mode to unlock them alternatively. Playing all Story Modes unlock the what-if Boss Route, like Dark Student Council.
You could make a what happened about Sony’s planned Spider-Man cinematic universe that would have been part of the amazing Spider-Man series.
Or the cancelled Spider Man 4 that was going to be a part of the first trilogy that would've made it a quadrology.
They’re still making their own “spider-verse” with Venom 2, Morbius the Living Vampire, and Kraven the Hunter. It’s all nonsense.

I literally watched this video yesterday and now it’s being re-released.
"Noritaka Funamizu was a fan of animal Crossing and wanted to make a game like it, that wound up becoming Monster Hunter."
I kinda feel like someone missed the point of Animal Crossing there.
That would explain the little cat people you could ally yourself with.

Not to mention this was one of the few opportunities Red Earth had to appear in a console game. Wish there were a port of the arcade one or at least a better fighting crossover.
Ingrid would appear as a solo unit in Project X Zone 2 years later on the 3DS.
At least she showed up in a game with an even bigger, crazier cast.
I originally bought this game thinking this was a game compilation where you could play those games separately. Oh how wrong I was

Yo, Matt... here's a little bit of trivia for ya! Post Strider 2014, we kicked around a lot of different franchises to revive and one of the leading franchises we were going to tackle next would've been Final Fight! Of course, we were bought by Amazon, so no more Killer Instinct and no more Capcom revivals... :(
....oh
Oh so _THIS_ is where Ingrid from Alpha 3 MAX came from!
It’s basically just a M.U.G.E.N game they threw together really quickly
Yup, and not even a good Mugen game with unified mechanics. It's almost as poorly balanced as slapping Guilty Gear characters into a SF and KoF centric roster.... Needless to say, the GG character would DOMINATE the rest of the cast....
Ironically, though, the menus and stuff from this game ended up as a popular Mugen screenpack... one of which I was fond of. So at least something good came out of this game.
@@DataDrain02 after years of only looking at Mugen and being initially impressed with graphics(37 year old me is back to a kid being wowed over 32bit systems over 16!)
I always have wanted to dip a toe in. I am very fond of the Capcom Marvel stuff. When I got my Saturn Xmas 96 one of the games was Xmen COTA and eventually I even got a mod chip(absolute wizardry back then) and paid huge amounts for the Ram cart to play Xmen vs Sf...
I've had the fun on MAME and enjoyed the CPS2+3 board, the latter totally underrated,
But can you possibly point me in the direction of a really good, properly balanced, hopefully with new characters, fun, 'must have' Capcom Marvel fighter? Sure MVC2 is the GOAT but maybe there's a MUGEN that you feel tops that?
Any help is much appreciated mate! 👍
@@mccarthy5825 I'd take a look at Capcom Universe: Nexus of Heroes. Still in development, and there are already builds for it. The creator is refreshing it currently with the Ikemen engine, since that has more advanced possibilities over Mugen.
@@mccarthy5825 I can't guide you to a Capcom Marvel thing since the majority of the people who have made those don't even know how or why it worked to begin with so their work is pretty bad and the ones that do know and make it right have only done individual creations and not a full game. However, allow me to list you a few MUGEN games that are good even if they don't have that crazy Capcom Marvel feel
- The Black Heart (Which was remade and improved for Steam)
- TMNT x Justice League

Man Capcom has so many Wha Happun episodes that I wonder how many more are in the *future*
That rly aint a big surprise considering how every game is riddled with a ton of mistakes.

Welp, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 was announced and this game is in it. Hoo boy
I second a return to Final Fight. Hell, adapt the old Code Holders plot into it for good measure so Ingrid et all from her cast gets some life beyond "oh, that one character in Alpha 3 that nobody remembers since it's on the PSP version that nobody plays."
Snk style characters would also make more sense in FF style wise.
The only fighting game that I’d asked for a refund it was that bad. It’s sad too cause it had so much potential to be a good game.
Not going to lie the stuff they wanted to do in Code Holders sounds pretty damn neat for the time especially Declaration of Victory which seems like it could have been a risk/reward version of the first Guilty Gears' Insta Kills/Destroys.
When’s the “What Happened?” on Robocop (2014)? I can't wait for this to happen.
We’re getting PEAK rereleased.😤
Thanks! I'd love to see an episode on the King of Fighters XIII. There's a great story to be told with the production leading up to it (the turbulent times as a company, the terrible but important Kof 12...) and also the persistent stories about a supposed second bankruptcy created by sprites animations.
Code Holders shouldve been a dedicated Final Fight fighting game.
Always a fun time when Capcom appears on Wha Happun.
The episode I been waitibg for since the show started.
Thanks to your videos, I have learned that Capcom and SNK are acronyms for the full company names. I'm 33 years old and shocked that I never knew this.
Not gonna lie, that Declaration of Victory mechanic sounds absolutely hype.
Thank God Ingrid managed to crawl out of this muck and go into the occasional cameos.

Those two were useless due to a small moveset as they were CPU exclusive characters in Red Earth.
I think that a Capcom only crossover would be cool, like make it MVC style and not worrying about someone else's copyright. To bad this game likely ruined it, given Capcom logic. Poor Darkstalkers....
Two things that struck me: Inafune was a businessman first even back then and Why the fuck did we all just gloss over the animal crossing = Monster Hunter part? That caught me so off guard I had to pause the video and think about it for a few minutes.
Who's watching this after the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 announcement?

I wished they picked Rival Schools over this. Seriously, you can't just put Project Justice in a collection and _NOT_ include the game that is it's predecessor.
And then a few days later, capcom added Rook to SFV
