I've got a 2021 GT with a Phase 2 and you are correct about the shifting. If I'm in SPORT mode with the Roush tune it's rough and if I'm in TRACK mode it's undrivable in the city as my spine feels like I'm on the receiving end of a viking invasion. I'm sure you know what Toronto streets are like :)
Awesome race!!! Like the Roush stafe 3 it was under-rated it was aways GT500 vs hellcat but now finally Roush stage 3. Now that Roush stage 3 raced a hellcat it's time to meet a GT500!!! LET'S GO ROUSH!!!
Good runs and great driving by the guy in the Hellcat. I far too often see owners blowing the tires off the rims on launch, but this guy held it together with every run. I always cringe when I see Roush cars in a comparison, because I automatically know its going to fall on its face at half track. Roush is famous for pulling a "ton" of timing out of the top end of their ECU tunes. They do it to account for poor fuel quality (or the owners that are too cheap to run premium fuel), since they're offing a 3-year warranty on their product. Every single Roush car/truck I've seen get a custom tune, has picked up a solid 10-15% increase across the board. Still...it is what it is.
For the amount of money spent on the Roush it should walk that hellcat. 760 is moderately tuned for a Gen 3 though. That Roush can make much more power than that but great race fellas
Seems as though the Hellcat had gearing better for higher speeds with reliable acceleration and the Mustang wants to leave like a bat out of hell but the gear ratios limit top end acceleration compared to the hellcat. Overall I would say the hellcat with lower numbers 2 gears less and heavier weight it still the quicker car down the run but a better driver could have changed this outcome. What do you guys think?
There's something about Sam. I take back any bad remarks about your driving skills. That's irrelivant, you are genuine and so enthustiastic. Which is why you are the best You Tuber in my book. You da man Sam, and Dane is the woman.
Honestly that Roush get pulled on both from dig and rolling, the gearing, suspension and transmission tuning are worlds apart from the standard older Hellcats. Just the gearing ratio from a 2.62 to 3.09 will make all the difference. But man that Roush looks and reving is enough to win in looks department alone
Wow that was entertaining! Second run hellcat driver was manually shifting looks like. What happened to the roush, the transmission doesn't upshift sometimes? Is that due to the tune
Mustang has aggressive gearing probably a 3.73 which is to much for top end . Low trap speed , it needs a 3.55 or 3.15 to handle that hellcats trap speed
wow!!! Hey you said semi slick ties. which tires are those. If they are a drag radial that makes a big difference. The hell cat have a semi slick? I know it sounds crazy but I imagine those cars could spin tires at 50mph on the roll also.
Let's see we got sticky tires on the mustang. The Challenger has stock tires looks like pirellis. The mustang has more horsepower and weighs less. And the hellcat still pulls it in. Would I rather pay $67,000 or $93,000 I think that's an easy answer
Had a guy in this exact mustang only red try to race me in my Challenger Scat Pack. I took one look at his Roush and new better. Managed to ask him at the Red light how much he paid for it...$94,000. I couldn't help but laugh. Nice car but way outta my price range. Nice race guys!
That’s inaccurate info. That was the initial rollout on the 2018’s with the smaller heat exchanger and original calibration. The revised Phase 2 calibration and larger heat exchanger have made huge improvements.
@@johnthegaptist7794 Intercooler is still significantly smaller than the blow up designs from VMP and Whipple. It still gets heat soaked. Not enough room in the valley of a Gen 3 to install a sufficient blow down design.
Unfortunately the Roush blower for Gen 3 coyote is the worst one to get out of all the blowers available for the 18-current mustangs. They have heat soak issues. Undersized Intercooler. A Whipple or VMP Wouldn’t have let the Hellcat come back and close the gaps.
These close races are so insanely satisfying. Monster cars head to head, love it. 2 things (lol) 1. Lets see that Sentra! 2. Dane revving the Hellgato with a dart in his hands. Outstanding
So the car with 50 more HP, 20 more torque and weighs 250lbs less cant outrun its opponent. Something doesnt add up. I believe Roush really put in some warrenty tuning in the top of of that mustang. Looks like the Mustang hit a wall at a certain speed.

negative it absolutely will not.. the Roush Stage 3 has been known to underperform for the HP numbers the RS3 traps around the same and less than a stock hellcat and runs near identical times. It will lose to a Redeye every time from a roll or dig and a 2020 GT500 which actually performs like its hp rating. A stock Hellcat can beat a RS3 especially above 130+
Tuning and gear ratio played a roll in why the races kept ending the way they did. Hellcat had longer gears than the stang, stang is set up for a shorter run. I am a FORD man and always will be. But you gotta respect what Dodge did with those engines.
No surprise the Catt was making the pass in very first run. Roush tends to over state their kits power, and have done so since 2008. I'd estimate the Roush at 650 hp and 580 tq.
If that's a stock hellcat, that's pretty good to be neck and neck with a stage 3 mustang... but it would've been a clear difference in favor of Dodge if it was a redeye against the stage 3 mustang

I own a 2021 Roush Stage 3, and in a drag race, the best setting is Drag mode with the 10-speed in its normal mode. Shifting the automatic into sport mode just messes it up. The sport mode is the same as selecting Sport mode. By doing so you hurt your times!
Would love to see both cars race with 6sp manuals, as true muscle cars should have manuals, separates the men from the boys imo. Great race though, enjoyed it!
Something must not be right on the Roush cause I have a 2020 and have never even on 91 had a problem with a hell car I let them jump then reel them in like nothing even tuned with intake etc
There’s no reason the mustang should lose at all. Weighs less, higher HP, higher torque, better aero, better gearbox. Like this is truly determined by the drivers
So no drag mode in the s550? That's weird? The ecu allows for a little bit of slippage by adjusting timing, braking, and throttle respond to the traction control system and all you have to do is stay in it and point and shoot. I'm about to boost my 5.0 6speed premium package very very soon. Can't wait to see what it'll do. It's tuned by Lund now on flex fuel tune. Nice runs against the Hellcat. Can't sleep on those kitty cats especially with a driver who knows how to drive one.
@@lbear3321 that's a stretch. Have you ever seen it referred to as north American muscle? No, they specifically call it American muscle referring to U.S. of A.

I had a 18 Hellcat Charger and ran it several times against my 19 Roush Stage 3 and it’s never been close. Always 2 or more cars. Driver mod possibly needed.
Paddle shift/center console shift in manual mode every time. Full auto sometimes hangs. Proven fact manual shift with auto trans is by far best for faster time/quicker acceleration. Always sport, sport plus or track mode and traction control off. Sam this time did a much better reaction to hand drop.

Came all the way from Quebec to race! Wicked!
What do you guys think?
its the roush tune over 5k in 5thgear up pulls 8 degrees timing and it falls on its face
This is the most epic race ever seen
There's something about Sam. I take back any bad remarks about your driving skills. That's irrelivant, you are genuine and so enthustiastic. Which is why you are the best You Tuber in my book. You da man Sam, and Dane is the woman.
Those were some good close races, I’d be curious to see the roush vs redeye
Oh yeah you read my mind , exactly what I want to see as well let's gooo!!! American muscle 💪.
2020 gt500 vs red eye
@@jerrymurillo5017 coming on this 2022
Imo if the roush was geared differently this would have been a lot less of a fair race
Wow that was entertaining! Second run hellcat driver was manually shifting looks like. What happened to the roush, the transmission doesn't upshift sometimes? Is that due to the tune
I was using racing fuel and i got a misfire about fuel quality that won’t let me take it higher than 7k rpm
@@carlosolimon7513 ohh gotcha. Thanks for explaining!
No it's a crappy FORD!!!

@@wytewizzard We all know if that shitty ford was totally stock it would have been much different. Actually, a VALID COMMENT.
Mustang has aggressive gearing probably a 3.73 which is to much for top end . Low trap speed , it needs a 3.55 or 3.15 to handle that hellcats trap speed
I agree
Yep. My roush has 3:73
Drag radial’s on mustang explains why that launch was sooo good, not sure what was on the Hellcat.
I had winter tires on lmao
@@Mr.BobbyHellcat balls of steel you have.. lol
wow!!! Hey you said semi slick ties. which tires are those. If they are a drag radial that makes a big difference. The hell cat have a semi slick? I know it sounds crazy but I imagine those cars could spin tires at 50mph on the roll also.
This so tuff I’m undecided about which one I want🔥🔥🔥
Let's see we got sticky tires on the mustang. The Challenger has stock tires looks like pirellis. The mustang has more horsepower and weighs less. And the hellcat still pulls it in. Would I rather pay $67,000 or $93,000 I think that's an easy answer
So which would you rather have?
@@collingreatest1772 I'd take the hellcat
I'm putting a Vortech supercharger on my 2020 Mustang GT. Will have 56K invested for 700 HP.
Actually I was using Nexun winter tires ahahah
the $93k is just Roush pricing. You can get a supercharged mustang GT for $35k brand new lol.
Why didn't u use drag strip mode in the mustang? It firms up the shifts so much.
Hellcat comes with a 2.62 rear gear, I'm curious as to what the roush has. Maybe the reason hellcat picked him up
3:73 on the ROUSH
@@woodysdrums8083 3:73 for manual….. it’s 3:55 for automatic
Had a guy in this exact mustang only red try to race me in my Challenger Scat Pack. I took one look at his Roush and new better. Managed to ask him at the Red light how much he paid for it...$94,000. I couldn't help but laugh. Nice car but way outta my price range.

Good video!! 10 speed really came in clutch for that mustang! Imma mopar for life tho!

The roush set up gets heat soaked after one run
That’s inaccurate info. That was the initial rollout on the 2018’s with the smaller heat exchanger and original calibration. The revised Phase 2 calibration and larger heat exchanger have made huge improvements.
@@johnthegaptist7794 Intercooler is still significantly smaller than the blow up designs from VMP and Whipple. It still gets heat soaked. Not enough room in the valley of a Gen 3 to install a sufficient blow down design.
@@AB-coyote no heatsoak issues wit mine and its a 2020
Unfortunately the Roush blower for
Gen 3 coyote is the worst one to get out of all the blowers available for the
18-current mustangs. They have heat soak issues. Undersized Intercooler.
A Whipple or VMP Wouldn’t have let the Hellcat come back and close the gaps.
These close races are so insanely satisfying. Monster cars head to head, love it.
2 things (lol)
1. Lets see that Sentra!
2. Dane revving the Hellgato with a dart in his hands. Outstanding
Had to get the Belmont in the shot y’know
So the car with 50 more HP, 20 more torque and weighs 250lbs less cant outrun its opponent. Something doesnt add up. I believe Roush really put in some warrenty tuning in the top of of that mustang. Looks like the Mustang hit a wall at a certain speed.
Heatsoak and inflated hp numbers. Roush MO lol

Should have had the hell cat in track mode. You need the 40millisecond shifts versus 60mil in sport.
Driver mod needed
Very impressive race! Thank you sir!
These cars sound so good.
what is the outcome of the race?
Does Carlos daily drive the roush?
Love the sound of both these cars🔥🔥😲I don't actually know which one sounds best😂🔥
The 2021 Roush Stage 3 Mustang if it’s the 10 speed auto will take the Hellcat in a dig and roll every time. If it was a Redeye it would be a toss up.
Yeah either the title is wrong or the emblem is wrong but if it was the red eye toss up for sure
negative it absolutely will not.. the Roush Stage 3 has been known to underperform for the HP numbers the RS3 traps around the same and less than a stock hellcat and runs near identical times. It will lose to a Redeye every time from a roll or dig and a 2020 GT500 which actually performs like its hp rating. A stock Hellcat can beat a RS3 especially above 130+
Do people race woth standard transmissions now?
Tuning and gear ratio played a roll in why the races kept ending the way they did. Hellcat had longer gears than the stang, stang is set up for a shorter run. I am a FORD man and always will be. But you gotta respect what Dodge did with those engines.
No surprise the Catt was making the pass in very first run. Roush tends to over state their kits power, and have done so since 2008. I'd estimate the Roush at 650 hp and 580 tq.
So who won on track roll race?
It's a proven fact, that with the 10-speeds, you are better off letting the computer shift for you.
Now I'm starting to see what's going on here it's the the gears and I believe the weight got some do with indifference how it takes off to go Mustang
Huh lookin at the top end you'd think the challenger was the more streamlined car 0_0 but its a square how's that possible?
If that's a stock hellcat, that's pretty good to be neck and neck with a stage 3 mustang... but it would've been a clear difference in favor of Dodge if it was a redeye against the stage 3 mustang
The Roush isn't known for a great amount of power. Had that Mustang had a Whipple treatment, the Hellcat would've been skinned pretty handily.
@@lanemorrow7417 true but then a better comparison would’ve been the red eye/demon
Sam this was an excellent race this goes to show supercars are not the only stars but also these scary beastly machines man , and I'm Tellin ya that Roush is way better than Shebly mustangs , more durable and all you can go watch hoovies garage video regarding Roush mustangs and why they're better than Shelby's also Sam there is one special Roush mustang that you need to try and get and not only do a race with but also a full review with ,it's the P51 Roush Mustang that thing has had only 51 units made in the entire world , nevertheless I'm a Mopar guy and I'm proud of the hellcats performance against the this beast so as well against the R8 in the last video of course that was the Redeye I know but still these kitty cats are awesome 😎👍💪🇺🇸🔥🔥❤️❤️💯💯✌️ SOME OF THR BEST PERFORMANCE DRAG RACES IN ALL OF UA-cam THESE TWO RACES WERE!!🤜🤛.
Looks like the kitty got neutered by 1.2 liters less.
I own a 2021 Roush Stage 3, and in a drag race, the best setting is Drag mode with the 10-speed in its normal mode. Shifting the automatic into sport mode just messes it up. The sport mode is the same as selecting Sport mode. By doing so you hurt your times!
What did the hellcat driver say about the gt500??
The gears did something weird on the mustang on that second race. 🤔
Audi S4 vs Q50 Redsport please 🙏
theres one on my channel lol Q60 vs S4 both are modded tho.
Would love to see both cars race with 6sp manuals, as true muscle cars should have manuals, separates the men from the boys imo. Great race though, enjoyed it!
Is the suspension smooth?
Do you have a soundfile of the starting secondes of this clip?🔥🔥
I’m hyped for dodge to release the ghoul package
What stage was the dodge?
Something must not be right on the Roush cause I have a 2020 and have never even on 91 had a problem with a hell car I let them jump then reel them in like nothing even tuned with intake etc
Why don’t they ever use the 797 hellcat for drags??
There’s no reason the mustang should lose at all. Weighs less, higher HP, higher torque, better aero, better gearbox. Like this is truly determined by the drivers
So no drag mode in the s550? That's weird? The ecu allows for a little bit of slippage by adjusting timing, braking, and throttle respond to the traction control system and all you have to do is stay in it and point and shoot. I'm about to boost my 5.0 6speed premium package very very soon. Can't wait to see what it'll do. It's tuned by Lund now on flex fuel tune. Nice runs against the Hellcat. Can't sleep on those kitty cats especially with a driver who knows how to drive one.
year of cars and curb weight ?
The hellcat was pulling up top! Very impressive considering it’s heavier, less aerodynamic and less power! I say that hellcat has some work done to it

Something is not right. I have the same set up on my 19 Roush Stage 3 and on the Roush tune with a Nitto 555R2 I ran back to back passes of 10.78 @ 136 and 10.85 @ 135. No way that Hellcat is running with that car unless it’s modded or the driver is absolutely clueless. Starting in 2020 they even added an additional cooler for the blower on them so heat soak should not be much of an issue. I had a 18 Hellcat Charger and ran it several times against my 19 Roush Stage 3 and it’s never been close. Always 2 or more cars. Driver mod possibly needed.
stock tires ?
Very good runs mustangs transmission wasn’t very happy you can hear that slight delay on some gears as that race goes by
That's torque reduction in the tune to protect the transmission, it's normal unless custom tuned.
How does a car weighing 500# more w/ less HP pull a lighter higher hp car? I always thought Roush over rated their power.
Paddle shift/center console shift in manual mode every time. Full auto sometimes hangs. Proven fact manual shift with auto trans is by far best for faster time/quicker acceleration. Always sport, sport plus or track mode and traction control off. Sam this time did a much better reaction to hand drop.
Mustang needs a Palm Beach Dyno tune verses Roush. Missing out on power and transmission tune. Roush tune like a OTF tune for Ford so called warranty.
Does more expensive mean more better?
I have a 13'GT must. Roush test mule it eats cats(from h_ll) it's been tuned at brenspeed 2 times over 750hp. Has 9,800 mi. A true show car 1 of from all I know. They Roush owned it since day one for 34mo.s
Very interesting, guys pressing the gas on road cars, and admiring changes from changing sides. Wowwwww!!!!!!!
The mustang roush is a nice car but it’s tuned and the hellcat is stock. But dodge is something else. Especially the hellcat. The dodge is quite heavier than the mustang but it still kept a good race.
I've noticed a lot of races where the Hellcat seems to pull at the end at higher speeds. Gotta hand it to Dodge on that one 👍🏻
and the new stangs can finally go around a curve. Its best to doge any turns in a.... dodge ( to avoid)
I like your videos, but no one who owns these cars leaves it in normal or just sport mode to race. Sport+ or track mode if pulling from a roll or drag mode to drag race. Brent from Bren speed did a 10.79 quarter mile with the same set up. Just passing it on...
