The reality is this, “ Imagine “ is over a half century old. Those of us ( 70 yrs. myself) who came of age then, are surprised by people not being aware of John, Paul, George and Ringo. We shouldn’t be. We instead, should be grateful for young people like itsprincess, who are willing to look back and enjoy them. She, and others like her, give me hope.💙✌️🫶🏻☮️

Do you know why he wrote this song ? He wrote it to see if he could make people think communism was a great thing. It is a communist Manifesto. John wrote this in 1971 near the end of the Vietnam War. Some people get upset because they focused on the no heaven or God. How have you never heard this song girllll? I literally grew up hearing this at least 10 times a day, my dad was OBSESSED. I heard it so much I almost can’t stand it.. kidding, I still think it’s beautiful and brings a lot of nostalgia whenever I hear it, but maybe a little overplayed.. still a timeless classic though. John Lennon was a visionary, his creativity and vision was inspiring. Of course, he wasn’t a flawless human being, you would find out pretty quickly if you do some research, if he was alive today in today society he would be cancelled 100% lmao, but he also did a lot of good. He could be cruel and mean, his own band mates said so (George said “he was a great person, and I loved him, but sometimes he was a bastard” I’m paraphrasing but it was something to that effect)but at least he was trying, and he advocated for peace, always. I really respect that, and his growth as a person, unfortunately he was negated the right to atone completely and make peace with all the people in his life by the person that shot him. John and George weren’t on speaking terms when he was killed, they both wanted to reconcile, but then, they never could.

It was the time he was living in that inspired the lyrics just like Marvin's What's Going On . Sometimes the greats put lyrics down that resonate through decades.

Good question. He explains. That is where we should be headed. A whole generation grew up thinking, hoping....this, THIS is what we are doing, where we are going. we were so certain. Now, we're rolling up our sleeves to help try and haul it back again. we've BEEN through this, we are not going BACK!

It’s hits hard when the younger generation is hearing “ Imagine “ for the first time. She asked why he wrote it? The times. Learn history. It will benefit you. John was assassinated, and the word suffered for it.

I remember when John Lennon was shot, it pretty much hit all of us. I was in High School. I was taking a Social Studies class called Man and the environment. It was taught by a young guy who was pretty much a hippy. The day after Lennon was shot he was profoundly affected by Lennon’s death. He brought in a record player and Lennon’s Imagine album. That’s all we did in class that day, listen to that album and particularly this song. It was exactly what we needed to be doing that day. I imagine today he might be fired in some schools for doing that.

This song was inspired by a former college football All-American kick returner, Vietnam veteran, and Medal of Honor recipient when Lennon and he were guests on The Dick Cavett Show. The man was part of the US Ping Pong team and had just been to China. After they left the studio, the man ran into his old Lieutenant from the Army, who eventually became his first mate, and they became a successful business team for a colossal shrimp company.

3 songs off the top of my head about John Lennon's murder.
#1 HERE TODAY by Paul McCartney
#2 EMPTY GARDEN by Elton John
#3 ALL THOSE YEARS AGO by George Harrison.
I remember I was probably 12 and my Mom was doing homework from a college course. They interrupted a show I was watching. I turned to look at my Mom to see if she heard, she had her hand over her mouth crying.

John Lennon was assinated on December 8, 1980. There is a memorial to him in the Strawberry Fields area of Central Park NYC about midway up on the west side.the memorial is a circular tile pattern in the pathway. It simply says Imagine. His murder site is visible from the memorial. It's the Dakota building about 200 yards away.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono was so in love. They loved each other so much and they were inseparable. John walked out into the park in New York one morning and somebody shot him dead. A crazy man, absolutely devastating and I remember that day. I remember my mum and crying in the house when it was on the television. The news and I remember the picture of John Lennon on the wall in the background in the house with New York City. Imagine what Yoko felt like when losing John the whole world. Grieved

Sadly John was gunned down by a crazed american while he was in New York. Thankyou and try to learn heaps about great music, you will love it. Thankyou Princess.
