Yet another enjoyable and informative video thanks! On another note, but referred to in this video, is the importance of taking security seals seriously. They definitely won't make the trailer any more secure but they can save your life! Many years ago (1992 ish) I was hauling Tilt trailers out of Purfleet docks, mostly arrived from Germany. Had been doing it for a long time and was competent enough, or so I assumed. I was tired and picked up a trailer to be delivered to Bosch in Middlesex the next day. I rushed to get hitched and park up so that I could grab a few hours in the port before making an early start the next morning. I duly arrived at the Bosch depot and was directed to back on a bay. They unsealed the trailer and were proceeding to unload, from the back, and I was directed, as usual, to remain in my cab until was signalled to pull off and depart. After about 5 minutes 3 stern looking individuals approached my cab and asked me to step out. They said the were security for Bosch and that they needed to ask me some questions. This was unusual but I readily agreed. They informed me that the seal I had on the trailer did not correspond with the paperwork and that when they had opened the trailer it was evident that the contents, Bosch power tools, had been interfered with and that approximately 12,000 GBP worth of tools were missing and that several crates had been opened! I was shocked and told them I knew nothing about it. They all looked at me doubtfully and asked me to step inside the office so that further enquires could be made. Of course I was shiting myself and racking my brains as to how this could've happened. After what seemed an eternity one of the security Managers told me that it was my lucky day as they had phoned the Port security office and were informed that the previous evening, a few hours before I collected the trailer, a random check of some of the trailers seals was made and that mine was one of them. They had documented the false/ replaced seal and confirmed it had been changed before I collected it which cleared me of any blame, apart from being a dickhead and not checking the seal/ paperwork on collection! It emerged that the port workers had a wee scam going on and that they had been filching tools on a regular basis and had been getting away with it. I learned a valuable lesson that day and was much more vigilant and aware in future.

The roadside memorials is a touching way to remember the victims of road accidents. Its also a good way to open our eyes to how many die on the roads. Its not done in the UK, but it would be a good idea to do so. God rest their souls

Hi Ned. Anyone who drives for a living soon has to develop a healthy respect for what can happen on the roads. I spent 45 years doing it and can relate to so many things in your videos including little respect for professional drivers in general from other road users and companies. No surprise that their is a shortage of drivers now. Like you we have respect people who have lost their lives on the roads. I had two young men run a give way sign at high speed and crashed under my trailer. They both died and it's a memory that will never leave me. Take care and take your time an we will all be safer. After very extensive police accident investigation they found excessive speed in a built up area plus a disregard for road signs and conditions. They told me i was not at fault for what happened. Yes professional driving can be tough but it's not all bad. Remember the slogan Arrive Alive. I wish there was better training especially for young people before they are allowed to drive. Ned we have the same fitly truckers in Canada and USA, you walk around the perimeter of rest areas or truck stops in the grassy areas and you will find all the types of garbage imaginable from piss bottles to garbage bags. In the USA many state run rest areas where facilities were present that have been closed due to financial cutbacks have blocked off the entrance to those rest areas because of the trash truckers that they leave behind. Big stores like Walmart used to allow truckers to park on their lots and now many don't because of that reason. It has became a big problem for truckers to find a place park for the night in North America and fitly truckers are one of the reasons why. All the videos, and I mean ALL your videos I have watched are never boring. As a truck driver on the other side of the pond, it's a privilege to ride along with Billy and Moe. I see granddad joined as well! It makes a pleasant day when you interact with staff and treat them like you want to be treated, makes a good day. Like a fresh crate of Apple's, few rotten ones! It's sad that when there are some business that open and cater to drivers, you're gonna have those lazy wanks that can't pick up after themselves.
This takes me back to the days when you get sent to this sort of place for the first time and everybody assumes you know where you' re going and doing. Nightmare stuff.

Ned Kelly is one of my favorite truck drivers on the tube to watch. I think it is the Munster and Tipperary in me from my bloodlines and I smile listening to the irish tongue. Looking forward to more content like this. The Side of the road memorials cut deep. I am a truck driver and motorcyclist in Aus and the stupidity I see on the roads.. Sometimes I second guess riding... I love it too much though.

My sister has been a teacher 18 years. she asked me 2 years ago if i would paint her fence panels and decking .She said i dont have time . I said how many weeks holiday do you get a year .She said i get 13 weeks a year .I said paint your own fence pannels i get 3 weeks a year ..

Ned..good on you re those that have passed. Most of us have had a bad accident. Me two. One skidded into the front of a cafe in France and wrote off the cab and another a turn over in Crewe. Luckily I came away unscathed. I my family would have appreciated your sentiment if either of mine had gone pear shaped....keep up the great work...hopefully you will be back over the water real soon..
Your trip down Alexandra Road (as I knew it back in the day) - brought back memories of my days working for a customs clearance agent heading to the B&I complex to meet the MV Buffalo and clear a driver accompanied from the UK - this was usually around 1 or 2am. Boy has Alexandra Road changed since from my day down there some 46 years ago. Love the videos... that's some editing equipment you have!

@@NedKellyIreland Hi Ned ,we are pretty much the same vintage and similar backgrounds although I’m still farming by default as my brother decided to exit this world in 2019 and the mother of my 4 year old boy passed suddenly 3 months later ,things are not perfect but we have to get on with it.I get a kick out of your videos ,they are a bit of escapism.I got a great laugh out of the Varadkar statement ,I wouldn’t mind only I’ve been FG all my life LOL.

Another excellent video Ned, no need to change a thing it’s spot on, you’ve even inspired me to get an action cam-watch this space!!! I watched one of your old ones last week, when you were on Dixon with the DAF going to Europe, the first time I watched it years ago I thought they’d make a great instructional film for first timers, paperwork, entering ports and stuff. Wish I’d had them for my first trip!!

Ned Kelly is one of my favorite truck drivers on the tube to watch. I think it is the Munster and Tipperary in me from my bloodlines and I smile listening to the irish tongue. Looking forward to more content like this. The Side of the road memorials cut deep. I am a truck driver and motorcyclist in Aus and the stupidity I see on the roads.. Sometimes I second guess riding... I love it too much though.

Have just started watching some of your video's, Nice to have on in the background while working from home in lockdown with the great music and scenery(helps reduce the cabin fever!!!). Thankyou for taking the time to make these as im sure they do take up you valuable time (getting out the cab to set the camera for one driving away shot, all the editing and reviewing etc). drive safe, looking forward to working my way through the rest of your videos.

Ned..good on you re those that have passed. Most of us have had a bad accident. Me two. One skidded into the front of a cafe in France and wrote off the cab and another a turn over in Crewe. Luckily I came away unscathed. I my family would have appreciated your sentiment if either of mine had gone pear shaped....keep up the great work...hopefully you will be back over the water real soon..

Your trip down Alexandra Road (as I knew it back in the day) - brought back memories of my days working for a customs clearance agent heading to the B&I complex to meet the MV Buffalo and clear a driver accompanied from the UK - this was usually around 1 or 2am. Boy has Alexandra Road changed since from my day down there some 46 years ago. Love the videos... that's some editing equipment you have!

Hello Ned great to see you keep the sunny side up. Ned if possible could you at some stage do a shout out for our extended family in Macroom Co Cork, This is for Kate and her girls who moved over to Ireland a couple of years ago, she had a lovely Irish lad she met in New Zealand and then made the move there she misses NZ and I guess the lockdown has not helped her. Our lass Kate is a real battler she lost her mum at a young age and had her adopted girls to take care of, we are so proud of her, thanks Ned
