Awesome video. Only one on UA-cam that actually goes deep into the most important option - the transmission. Also glad not another manual or die video.
You hit the nail on the head on the transmission. I specced a GT3 with the manual and after 4k miles I am unloading it and getting a Touring with PDK. I had a PDK before the manual and it was enjoyable all the time whereas the manual is only enjoyable when out playing with the car. Living where I live most the driving is getting to where I want to go.
Hey buddy please, I’m begging you do something about the volume of your voice versus the engine noise the wind noise etc. I’ll elaborate, I have to have the volume at 70% just to hear what you’re saying and I’m very interested in what you’re saying I find your videos very informative. I’m taking delivery of my GT3 touring in about one week, so I have been enjoying your videos, but please do something about the volume, I can only watch your videos during the day, because my wife and kids complain that I listen to the TV too loud when I watch your videos. Now I apologize if I am off-base I’ve never done UA-cam videos but I have watched other UA-camrs in much louder cars be able to pull this off. I hope you can too. Thanks man.
I do voice enhance with editing software on my videos because i use iphone and u otherwise get way more background noise. Car is too loud otherwise. Sorry boss. Enjoy the touring.
Elwood, I love the channel. Another great vid. You’ve got some good BS and excellent color commentary. I’ve got a winged car coming in April, sofas, 3 pedals, chalk on Neo wheels. Do I want that crazy exhaust? I’m going to take it to the golf course, the grocery store, small bits of lumber and tools in the back for projects, probably a big dog up front, it’s gonna get miley in a hurry, you get the idea. Will my neighbors call the cops on me with that set up? I’ll trade you and airplane ride for a GT3 ride if you come through STL!
Thanks for the video .I am awaiting my gt3 touring which I’ve also specced with a pdk and ceramics.Driven a manual recently on race track which is involving but happy with the pdk which I am familiar with previous 991.2gt3 and 992 Carrera 4.Of the opinion that touring is understated and as the name implies I intend to tour rather than “race” with the car. Will not use as my daily so only driven for the enjoyment rather than necessity.Look forward to future reviews
Nice real world review - liked the T vs Wing comparison. I didn’t find the steering at all twitchy - planted but light when steering inputs. In Normal mode I found it quite civilised and could easily DD it. I found the PCCB ok but not in the same class as found on the TTS - maybe pad composition change for the 992. Totally endorse your choice of PDK !
Thanks for watching John! Appreciate the feedback from a fellow owner and the support. It makes the effort worthwhile 💪🏻 and i totally agree the tts brakes are the best brakes on earth bar none
I read your comment on Rennlist about your dealership geo2 bonus 911 Turbo S allocation. Can you tell me which dealership? I live Chicago also, North Center, and I am having a heck of time finding one, same for the GT500 but I have given up on that car.
All the allocations are already gone, tried to get one didnt work out ☹️ supposedly more allocations coming next month but not sure how many of those will be 911s. Ill pm you once i find out.

How do you think this car compares to the manual touring? I watched your M3 review and it made me wonder about a manual in that car as well? I have actually about to order an M3 with the manual and I'm sure the XDrive has lots of benefits but I can't wait to control the car with a manual transmission.
I never drove the manual g80 but people like it. They are completely different animals, both great. The x drive is awesome for my use case and i had the car running 10.4 quarters with jb4. At the end of the day i like the 6 speed manuals better than the 7 speed. All day
I don't think I will get to the gt3 level, I got the 718 sypder manual, my first manual, and it is a handful compared to my 911 c2s pdk. Why couldn't porsche make the exhaust better on the spyder if the could do it on the GT3 ? Good explanation, that's 2 gt3 beauties !
Nice comparo on PDK vs Manual tranny in 992 Touring! It would have been nice to have your buddy in the winged car talking through his rationale on the manual in the video as well. I did not find the PDK to be involving enough on the 992 GT3 and am thinking about switching to a manual but many folks have echoed your concerns over the manual in the 992 gen car.
@@plife911 Yeah I've read in the forums that it was a *really* difficult situation last year. People paid a *lot* of money for some of these. Glad for anyone that got one though. Let's hope Porsche can make enough of them.
You’ve got a GT3 and Turbo S right? I’ve seen you post on Dragy I had a 991.2 CS before going to the “dark side” (lol) with a Tesla when I needed a sedan for the kiddos car seat. Was my 4th Porsche and favorite of the bunch, even over a 997.2 Turbo I had because the 991.2 with the PSE had a nice burble to it vs the Turbo sounding like a vacuum machine Personally, I have always preferred the torque from Turbo Porsches vs NA, having to be extremely high in the rev range for good power just doesn’t do it for me. I welcomed the 991.2 going to all turbos, but I know that makes Porsche purists cringe LOL. For me useable power/torque is more fun. Obviously, I also LOVE the instant torque from the EV Have to say Tesla has changed my mind though and on my second Model S now; having a 4 four door that runs low 9 second 1/4 miles is just insane; and I got over missing the ICE sound
To be honest i like the turbo s better. Its a beast and dont need more power personally (even stock). I ended up ordering a 23 cab pts with sport classic interior and zero weight options (including 4 ways). Im gonna go apeshit with the exhust and i think thats my dream setup

Porsche can fix this problem if they wanted. Porsche know what is going on. How about the Porsche USA selling a 2022 GT3 Touring to the Store Manager for invoice, only to have the Store manager drive the car for a few weeks and then sell it as "used" for significantly over invoice. Porsche co-signs the shenanigans. Look like they way want to take an alternative model of business in order to stay relevant.
