Great vid guys…….I was about to whine about Damon’s manual transmission bias mid-way through the review but held back with my comments. I am glad I did. This was one of the most unbiased reviews of these two cars I have seen. Excellent, excellent review. I also luv the Insider podcast. Kudos to all for great content.
When the 992.1 GT3 Touring comes out it should get he same little spoiler from the regular GT3. Simply minus the wing instead of minus the spoiler as well.
Nice video. Shame they got the car specs backwards. Tourings should ALL be mandatory manuals - like the 991.2s. Winged cars are probably better spec'd with PDK. 992s are unbelievable either way.
I understand that average fleet GHG emissions is a major factor in why relatively few are built, and thus available. The Europeans have a tonne more environmental regulations than we do in NA.
@@jameswillard1 I think the European Parliament fleet CO2 emissions average regulations have the biggest impact on high emission GT car production. Most folks seem to think it’s something more nefarious but it isn’t. More EV’s is good for GT cars…go figure!
Facts: Winged: 317 pounds of downforce at 125 mph, and up to max figure of 772 pounds at its 197-mph top speed. Touring: 33 lbs of downforce at 125 mph, and just 88 pounds at its slightly faster top speed of 199 mph.
GT3 for the win if you’re going to track it a good amount. We’d sure like that extra downforce. Though either will be extremely fast and capable on track.
As a matter of basic aerodynamics, it’s not possible for the pop up spoiler on the touring to produce downforce, like the duck tail of old, it only reduces lift, even if Porsche or anyone else tells us anything different.
Funny that so many people say the PDK allows them to just focus on “driving”,.. yet a pure enthusiast would say the definition of driving requires having MORE control over all aspects of the car. #manualsforlife
Great cars they are. Followed one through NC mountain roads and enjoyed the sound of the engine in the switch backs. The GT3 winged beast needs a camera rear view like the C8.
I drive a 992 4GTS with the PDK box and most of the time the driving is done in manual mode. My next (and last) 911 will definitely have the 6 speed manual (if it’s still on offer !). I feel you have a greater sense of involvement and ties you in an emotional way to the older 911ses. For the road, that is good enough 😎
Nice job, guys... Hope some day you can do a comparison of the 992 GT3 Touring and the earlier version. I think the same day comparison adds a great perspective to these videos...
I would by the regular GT3 and maybe do a wing delete, depends on if you notice a big difference in down force. But I love the Entenbürzel that the Touring unfortunately does not have.
Great review gentlemen. It all comes down to personal preference. I want two. Wing/PDK/buckets. Touring/Manual/Sofas. Shame you didn't have them both equipped with same gearbox to make this comparison valid. Transmission changes everything. However, as you alluded to, they are likely exactly the same cars and it would be impossible to tell the difference if they both were similarly equipped and rear view mirror was removed.
Touring base price is now more than the winged gt3. I opted for the winged- if I am paying for the wing- I want the wing. Porsche probably charges $6-$7 k or more for that wing. Plus if you buy a wing delete kit the winged car has a really cool duck tail which the touring does not have. All Porsches look almost comical with that rear wing in the up position.
If I could I would buy a GT3 and Touring parts. I believe that a Touring with the ducktail of the GT3, keeping the electric spoiler, and the splitter of the GT3, is a good compromise between elegance and performance, on the road. Manual, strictly.
Why the touring model doesn't come with 4 seats is mind boggling. Plus if everyone could have one @ normal prices would be nice as well. Base Touring in manual pls. PCA needs to advocate for a 4 seater GT3 touring model.
Please only show cars normal people can go and buy. The way Porsche treats even PCA members regarding GTx cars is horrendous and frankly has made me consider never buying a Porsche ever again for any reason. Really....after a 993c4s and 996tt.... Porsche is so elitist now it is absurd...the cars are way too expensive now too. Most in them around here are buying them to be seen in them...not to use them.

@@bbkGT3 correct, I was told that if it wasn’t for the Taycan in the lineup there would even be less GT cars that would be able to be produced

@craig do these cars have the same acceleration from 0 to 60 mph? if both have a PDK automatic transmission
Try driving 125mph through a fun twisty mountain road. A Manual Touring is the ticket . The Winged car for the track
@@PorscheFanwhere did you get that information?
Thanks Damon and Manny - great review.
Our pleasure!

Awesome video. Haven’t seen anything yet that compares the touring side by side with the winged GT3. Way to go!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Manual is great for the street but I would take PDK for track or autocross
You can still shift the car with the pdk two ways- paddles or the shifter -
The 992 looks beautiful in every trim!
Can't argue with that🙌
Only had my gt3 touring couple months & absolutely love it I’ve got the 6 speed manual which makes it much more fun
Lucky you!

you are correct, you'll never miss a shift on the track with a PDK.

Great comparison. Watched the video with my 6 month old...he prefers the big wing GT3, I'm leaning toward the GT3 Touring.

such a dumb idea
I would love to know what Porsche they own?👍
Damon owns a Cayman and Manny owns a 964
It‘s simply wrong to call it the more comfortable version. Porsche never claimed that
Not a wing guy so touring all the way👍👍🤦♂️
Who the heck wants to fly under the radar in a 1/4 of a million dollar car?
Believe it or not, many do.

We definitely cover Porsches at various price levels, see our other videos.
Which one is more overpriced?
neither...before dealer ADM at least.
At MSRP they are more than fairly priced. Problem is you can't get them at MSRP.
If gt3 regular has wing and gt3 touring doesnt, why touring version sells for WAY MORE $$$?!
Video shows that both GT3's are pretty much same cars with only difference is the rear wing...
