Love the video I was freaking out when your bearing down on the knife wondering if it was going to snap and you jab or cut your hand, BUT it held up better then I thought! Thank God it was full tang 😂! Again another great video! brother
Pointing out the fact that by rolling the tarp edge up instead of under to funnel the rain and create a water collection point is why your videos are so good. You demonstrate a common-sense application of using what you have which is invaluable.
I'm a Trucker.. The last job I had over the road I had a bucket set up just like that for those emergency times.. Helpful hint.. Put a cheap trash bag liner in it under the pool noodle.. When your done "doing the deed" Just replace the liner... Way easier that washing it out.... Oh yeah.. And.. Roll you Windows down help too. Lol
I enjoy how you show that you can have fun out in the woods with an overnight and it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg and your first born child. You show the quality of the stuff that you buy and explain what else was there and why you chose what you did. Thank you for all the information.
80% of the things bought at dollar private i have in my back pocket....i lived homeless for 6 months (WITH A NOMINAL JOB) and ate like a king and D G was right around the corner in a tent in the woods for a gooood 5 mnths. its all about what you want, including what you DONT...good job corp corner...thanks
Corp, I can most certainly say you've achieved your mission, I think I speak for all of us when I say you're a tonic for a weary soul ❤ we appreciate you more than you know, take as much time as you need, we'll still be here when you get back!
Woke up to my Bushcraft Guru taking a Dump in the woods. That made my day. Great ending to a very successful overnighter. Your KISS principal is working, but I do miss your elaborate builds. Looking forward to your cabin build and seeing your long term design. Enjoy every moment you share with us. Never loose your sense of humour. Have a great week Sir.✌️🇨🇦💩
I love how you're so comfortable in the woods you're just like "eh... this is garbage but it'll work" with almost your whole setup and you do just fine!
I know it wasn't necessary in this video, but it's worth mentioning that if the knife hadn't been sharp when you bought it, you could have used the bottom edge of the mug to sharpen it.
I had the same idea for the port-A-potty when I was driving a truck OTR but my wife found a 5 gallon bucket toilet seat with a lid and that's more handy than just doing your no.2. It's a trash bucket with a lid, and I also have a foam insert that will also keep your beers cold for that use as well. Of course always keep 6 gallon trash bags for liners, especially for waste uses, 😆 but keep up the good work and God bless🙏

The great thing about this video is that you show how to do things with cheap gear and supplies. I think that's the best way for people new to camping, prepping, and survival that gets overlooked. Your going to make a few mistakes along the way as you learn. Accidents can happen. You'll feel a lot better knowing it's not going to cost much to replace something than you will when you ruin something that cost you a substantial investment. As you learn and get better, then it's a good idea to upgrade. Keep up the great work and videos. Every Sunday is a treat thanks to you.
One thing I really appreciate about your channel is that you show that it is possible to make do with the crappiest of equipment. Who would try to baton a tree with a $1 paring knife? If you didn't have that, I'm sure that you could show us how to make a cutting utensil out of a soda can or bottle. You've learned some mad skills. Thank you for sharing them with us l. And the fun little dinner you make afterwards adds a lighthearted aspect that always makes me grin.
I’m not going to read 2k+ comments, but this is a good exercise in scrounging and adaptation. Your fancy gear could be lost, stolen, or not accessible. In an urban environment there are plenty of these cheap retail stores that offer opportunities for gear. This video has some good tips, especially with the insulated container. Let this video be an inspiration for ingenuity. Your survival might depend on it.
Always fun to hear you joking around yet still putting that great knowledge at the same time! Do what you have to. We all know you have a life outside of this channel at least everybody should! We will be here when you are ready to get back to it
You know I've been following your channel for quite a while now. And I still try to pay as much attention to "the things you do EVERY TIME" and also to the things "you do but deem too boring to show us." If I look at all those videos and just look at these core skills - the basics - I do realize just how much I learned. I'll be around and see where the journey goes. Thanks for all the knowledge.
Doing more with less is always a good watch. However, that last shot of the bucket in use damn near choked me to death on my drink. Love your sense of humor 🤣
This was a lot of fun to watch. I love the videos of how to do so much with so little. Even low and behold a make shift poop-bucket. "Does a soldier crap in the woods?" I watched our good friend Andrew @RangerSurvival. Between you both I learn so many great ways to survive in the wilds. I still greatly appreciate your time, efforts and instructions, on survival. Sepre Fi Corporal Kelly, God Bless you 🙏
I find the "doing more with less" videos more interesting Corporal. It shows more creativity and imagination. Thanks as always mate, I find being in the outdoors relaxing but can't be doing the stuff you do due to a bad back. Thanks for letting me live vicariously though the stuff you do.
The ceramic coffee cup makes an awesome knife sharpener! You can touch up the edge really nice with a few swipes! Love the content. Only one question how much cordage do you use a year? Lol love the videos man. Keep up the awesome work!
In Australia I watch your show over breakfast on Monday with my kids. When you said “how to drop a deuce in the field, with style” I almost sprayed a mouthful of eggs across the table, then had to explain the terminology 😂
Watching like this that you do made me the “expert” when hubby and I went camping for the first time in 30 years last weekend. My knot tying skills still suck and I need a lot of practice to keep our tent from flying away. We won’t talk about the tent stakes pulling loose. Nope, we won’t talk about that. 😂 but I was the fire making queen and was able to get a good sustainable fire going pretty quickly.
I love these budget (and no so budget) challenges. Have you ever done a challenge where the viewers on UA-cam or your Facebook group decide on a kit and make you adapt to what odd items they make you take. I mean, right now you are designing perfect kits. Why not see what you can do with horrid ones?
This is perfect for any of who wants to give it a try even if it's in their own backyard. Thanks for the info. Handle your business and will look forward to your larger builds. ☺
Great video. You are a good teacher and my shelters have become cool looking, straight and tight. Thanks for detailing the knots, you have encouraged me to camp more often.
Bucket potty tip, small trash bags and some cat litter, works great. Also could you do a video about how to take care of a family in a survival situation? Solo videos are great I'm just curious how to make it successful if I had the kids along and all that, just a scenario type of thing. Thanks!
I absolutely love your videos. I’m huge into bushcraft and always in a tight budget. I love how you demonstrate real world survival applications with little or dirt cheap items. You inspire the hell out me to get out more and have fun with what I have and my common sense.
There's a dollar general down the road from me so yes I had to watch this. I've been a subscriber for awhile and I always appreciate the content you put out for us
I used to teach my hunter safety students to bring a partial role of cheap TP with them. Not just for the obvious, but to use as a trail marker. Hang a few sheets from a limb to mark your route. It’s also biodegradable after a few weeks.
just as I started my comment I seen what I hoped I would never see, but it was a good video up until the very end. I do have to say you are pretty hilarious though. Have a great day and stay safe and keep your powder dry!
I like you corporal, mainly because of your honesty. There is no BS with you. You show us how it really is. Other survivalists don't come across like you do. I would love to serve with you.
Like I said macgyver. And freaking hilarious. I love this kind of video cause I live in third world country. Can't afford or even find survival gear. I have to make do. I don't live in the woods but if I had to, I think I could survive from what u teach. Thank you
Where I come from, back in the scouting days, we called TP "mountain money". People didn't want to use leaves or moss, but didn't always remember to bring their own rolls. Suddenly desperate kids were trading away their compasses and pocket knives etc to use some TP.
👍👍👍 .. great stuff .. thanks for sharing 😊. Some 'useless information 🙄😏 .. Back in '72, as a young 22 year old Gold Mining Learner Official, I recall a conversation I had with my then Mining Training Instructor, Alan Taylor, a Welshman. We were talking about the Annual Winter Migration of Hobos from chilly Johannesburg on the South African Highveld down to the warmer Coastal City of Durban. Having grown up in Durban, I had been privy to this migration .. our City Centre, Beaches, Parks, Woodlands, etc showing an increased presence of this migratory species over the balmy winter period. Ok .. now where is this is going. Alan in humour, referred to these Gentlemen as 'Knight's of the Road' 😊 .. I can still hear it being said in his unique 'Welsh Lilt'. I'm sure that those Knight's of the Road (and us, your viewers) would have (do) appreciated your practical advice on no-nonsense 'getting it done'. Wow! I am definitely inspired!!! I learned techniques I've never seen before, and laughed at your sense of truthful humor 🤣. Definitely survival and useful methods while enjoying life with camping outdoors. The journey to accomplish my bucket lists! Thank you for sharing your life skills and time! Now to continue binge watching your channel 🤗
That's it I'm doing this one. Got a DG market a mile from my fishing hole. Was thinking about a catch and cook. Now I'm thinking over nighter. Thank you sir. You've inspired an old man to live a little. "I am cornholio" 😅
Your videos have become a Sunday tradition for my 6 month old grand daughter and me, Corp. Glad you're showing folk that a person doesn't have to spend a whole lot of money to have a whole lot of fun with friends/peace of mind/ out in the woods. Keep up the great work!
It will be cool to see the off grid cabin. Hopefully things go well and that will help scedule. Always like to see how you modify items to make them work like the double wall container. I got class next weekend always excited to learn more from the best.
Another great video Shawn, especially showcasing that one doesn't need a lot of money to get started! I was rather surprised that the pairing knife held up, especially after piercing the water bottle.
I'm surprised that dollar gen.had enough stuff, but knowing that you could just work with any load out...even dollar generals, that doesn't surprise... Good Job
That's how we know that hell has frozen over, when you put together a makeshift potty using a pool noodle, duct tape and a bucket. Red Green would be proud of you lol.
Not bad , looks like some basic things , that everybody should keep in their car . Doesnt need to be expensive , or take up a lot of space . Your not going to be comfortable , but its at least something to get you through the night , if you had to .
Hey buddy, I noticed you blowing the fire coals to intice flame. You may do what I'm about to tell you in other settings or videos but I have not seen you do it. Anyways, I take an aluminum arrow shaft and cut both ends off so that I have a large straw. Then you can pin point the air flow with less effort. Toggle, straw, and bellows.
It’s a good idea but could be a little difficult to carry and could get damaged! There is actually a collapsible fire blower available on Amazon for about 3 bucks will do the same thing, and fits in ur shirt pocket!
Most tools you take with you should have 3 options of use. With the pocket bellows do you have other options other than bellows. If it does, then great but, if it doesn't then it is extra.
Another fine A,F video you sure know how to bring back alot of memories. Being in a wheelchair I can't go that fast in building a small bushcraft area but I damn sure going to try one in my backyard
Mr. Corporal, helping you on your morning brew. take what you need and put in zip lock bag, 2 times, 2nd bag filters and dental floss. then clean and washout a used soup can small to store to hike, about 1 tablespoon in center of filter. twist to form tea bag. take dental floss wrap tight , tie off. leave enough to hang ouside cup. add boiling water . once cooled enjoy. if given a choice , get some Kona when in season.
You make mention that you are collecting a lot of junk in reference to the gear are collecting from your over night challenges. I offer you a challenge, you should go through all of that gear choose the gear you dem best an do a video with the best gear from your $100/$20 challenges and further your point that good gear can be found anywhere. Thank you for the videos.
Yep. Go to the shed and build a bug out bag. Don't have time to buy 1 more stinking thing. 5 minutes max prep and go make it work. You have too many choices and we get to see why the bag should be pretty complete before hand.
My wife and I bought 2 dollar store pairing knives, looks exactly like this one, 27yrs ago. I still have one. The other was misplaced. I have sharpened it numerous times over the years. I will take it over other more expensive knives I have accumulated over the years. Keeps its edge forever. May be the best $1 purchase I have ever made. LOL! I have certainly got my money's worth.
The slanting tarp is a great idea for directing rain away from one’s sleeping space and for catching rain. And your port-a-pot idea is fantastic. Us ladies should give you a standing ovation for that, as it saves one’s arse from poison ivy, snake bite, and other predators one may encounter away from the safety of the campfire area. And thank you for that demonstration that proves it’s efficacy. LOL The tiki torches are a nice idea too. They may also help keep those cursed skeeters away. You know how I feel about those germ-carrying kamikaze bombers.
I have used one of those windshield sun screens as insulation in my hammock before. It works but makes you sweat when up against you, better to have a blanket as a buffer between you and the sun shield.
I have bought three three of the slide out popup lanterns. They work great, just don't get them wet-lost one to corrosion. Have the other for three years and many trips. Just bought a new from dollar gen as a future replacement for eight bucks. Very efficient with batteries.
First time watching your channel…now subscribed!!! I believe there is one thing I would have done differently…I’d move that potty away from where I’m sleeping and eating 🤣🤣
I bought a camp toilet years ago when I just starting hunting. I only used like twice. Lol got good at digging holes to do my business. But that was a good idea especially the foam Noodle for a seat.
I have to admit, of all the overnight challenges you've done this one I felt bad for you. Everything was subpar and not really up to the task but once again you showed how when used right even the cheapest crap can be used to effect survival. I'm glad you adopted the motto from the Charmin T.P. commercial.....enjoy the go and with that comfy setup I'm sure you did. As always I'll be on the look out for your next video. Take care and "see" you next time
That last video was pretty good. But I have been watching for a while now, and have enjoyed all of them so far. I really like seeing the diversity of the $100 and under night in the woods because of the many different types of equipment. Can't wait for the off grid cabin. Hope everything goes well with the house.
We could all use some more hobo-style skills in our lives. I always love the comments section after videos like these - the know-it-alls come out of the woods man! All the self-proclaimed bushcraft purists barking about how this kind of real-world hobo camping isn't bushcraft-y enough - I love how somehow trekking out into managed wildlife parks to use ridiculously expensive primo gear is "real bushcraft" these days LOL! Somehow using a fancy expensive ferro rod is somehow more skilled than flicking a Bic... Keep teaching the good skills, Sir!
Did you think that you might need to use that bucket after the franks and beans? Nothing wrong with franks and beans. I'd like to see a getting food in the wild soon fresh catfish and morel mushrooms is good find some while waiting for a bite.

Alright that time again, time to watch some Corporals Corner
I use an old car radio aerial. Telescopic, light and can use it as a straw as well. Never did get around to replacing the aerial on my car however.
Used gear vid... Yes.
Yep. Go to the shed and build a bug out bag. Don't have time to buy 1 more stinking thing. 5 minutes max prep and go make it work. You have too many choices and we get to see why the bag should be pretty complete before hand.
I'm surprised by how well that dollar knife held up, especially the batoning.
You are the great corpholio!
LOL
The tiki torches are a nice idea too. They may also help keep those cursed skeeters away. You know how I feel about those germ-carrying kamikaze bombers.
I have used one of those windshield sun screens as insulation in my hammock before. It works but makes you sweat when up against you, better to have a blanket as a buffer between you and the sun shield.
BIC was originally a French company. So good lighters do come from France. Hope this is one of them.
Cool camping trip. Less IS more.
that *surprise* ending though !! LOL
I have bought three three of the slide out popup lanterns. They work great, just don't get them wet-lost one to corrosion. Have the other for three years and many trips. Just bought a new from dollar gen as a future replacement for eight bucks. Very efficient with batteries.
I bet that this DIY portable toilet was on Corporal's bucket list.
Your best video yet 😉 I love the porta john
First time watching your channel…now subscribed!!! I believe there is one thing I would have done differently…I’d move that potty away from where I’m sleeping and eating 🤣🤣
Would have purchased 2 windshield visors and used one has a heat reflector.
then you would have run out of money
Would have passed on pool noodle
I bought a camp toilet years ago when I just starting hunting. I only used like twice. Lol got good at digging holes to do my business. But that was a good idea especially the foam Noodle for a seat.
Great video. A cool way to have some fun outdoors and improve your skills at the same time. Your time and efforts are appreciated as always. Thanks.
try cafe bustelio yellow packaging sold at dollar general.
After those beans that bucket gonna be handy corporal.. lol
I laughed my butt off on this video. For a hundred dollars, can't beat it with a stick.
Take care and "see" you next time
This is a brilliant video. Thank you for showing how the outdoors can be more accessible!
ALWAYS WATCH TO THE VERY LAST SECOND FRIENDS😂🌰🥈
I wasn’t sure what the pool noodle was for at first, but after seeing you tape it on to the bucket, I immediately thought, “This guy knows his shit.”
That paring knife got well more than a dollar's worth of play out there.
That last video was pretty good. But I have been watching for a while now, and have enjoyed all of them so far. I really like seeing the diversity of the $100 and under night in the woods because of the many different types of equipment. Can't wait for the off grid cabin. Hope everything goes well with the house.
Almost 1 million subscribers, seriously impressive. Hope you are proud sir!
Good job 👍
LOL @21:23. People are missing out if they don't watch your videos all the way to the end.
Let’s get to 1 million!!!
I think a lot of us are surviving off Dollar General without leaving our houses lol
Awesomely engineered toilet. The man-friendly spout on the bucket and foam cushion makes for a great backup or camping toilet.
Another awesome video. With Dollar General stores being just about everywhere makes it an easy place to grab some cheap gear in an emergency.
Mushrooms are only good if you're 200% sure you know the one you're picking is edible. A lot of them really are not.
@@TerrenceMcGinnis I dont disagree but you really cannot mistake morels once you know them. Probably why he mentioned those.
How did the windshield "sleeping pad" work out? Very curious...
Inspirational is right, and you are! I always come away from your videos with a smile & hope. Thank you.
