Funny, but Your imitation of Joe’s set up reminds me of Ed Norton addressing the ball on the Honeymooners...”Helllooo, ball.”

Been studying Joe Nichols for years with one of his former students here in Orange County. Actually have my own, very worn copy of Wisdom of Golf. I love your perspective as it fills some of the gaps of my current instructor. would really like to see you expand on the takeaway and the downswing....both drop down to go up.
Thank you, a Joe Nichols devote.

So i watched every one of your videos, some multiple times, I took notes, and practiced in the back yard for a month before getting to the range for my first ball strike...All i can say is ...effortless golf is now a reality for me. I was an old hip fire handle dragger in my teens, and then in my late 20's i came across stackntilt...as you would guess it sent me to the chiropractor for a year. Years went by and i found you. I can't thank you enough kind sir.
P.s. The vids with the LPGA gals helped me the most.

Hi Mike! Thank you for all of your great videos. Was wondering if you could do a video about where to focus at address. Do I look behind the ball or slightly ahead of the ball, or on top of the ball. I find if I focus on a spot 2 inches ahead of the ball I make better contact especially with my chipping. With irons it feels weirder since the club is coming in at a faster rate, but make solid contact if I'm able to focus on that spot infront of ball and not on the ball itself. Don't know if this is right though. Thank you again for all of your videos!!

By the way, Joe knew EXACTLY what he was doing and was way ahead of his time on attacking the hardest game on the planet!

I noticed that when you showed how Joe set up your last move was to take and release a deep breath and relax your shoulders with a big shrug and release.

I've been struggling with my alignment aiming right for many years. This is so simple and very easy to understand. Can't wait to make this my new routine. Thank you Mike.

That was so useful because set up is everything to hit a quality golf shot.

Hey Mike ...great lesson...again!! Two questions. You mention at 5.27 "right foot, club, EYES, left"....its the only time in the lesson you mention eyes. Is this alignment technique similar to putting where you try to get you eyes aligned to the target line? Second question...do you pick an intermediate target to aid getting the club aligned?
    Really enjoy your lessons....thank you!!

That’s a wow moment for me! I straight away stand square to ball, after hitting it, why the hell it goes straight and right to the green(80-90%, then I change club face, huge pull). So it’s lead side of me causing this, Hitting range and course today, will setup this way! Thank you Mike

Mike I have unknowingly been working in this. Something you never hear about EvEr. But just as important if not more important then then most.

Mike this is great stuff, and very over looked by most golfers. I really like the idea of coming in at that first quadrant, behind the ball it is brilliant.

Great tip. Does the club selection change how you use this technique? In this video it looks like you're playing the ball up in your stance.

Greetings and thanks from Finland! Can't wait to try this out. Makes sense to me. I think I had a similar routine when I played my best golf a few years ago, but somehow lost it along the way. I think Steve Elkington has a similar aproach and he showed that at the Secret in the dirt UA-cam channel.

Mike, I just watched this video earlier this week and have to say thank you Thank You THANK YOU!
I started the season at 7.5 and had worked my way up to 9.1 as of June 1st, mostly due to missing a ton of greens. I haven't felt comfortable over iron shots all year long. I could tell my alignment was off a lot of the time.
After one practice session and now using this method of setting up to the ball I've started hitting greens again - hooray! Now to work on making those birdie putts.
